Tried the mango habanero and Baja tacos which were both delicious! The street corn was off the cob which made it easier to eat, also pretty good. However, the chips and salsa are easily a hit! The house made salsas tasted fantastic and are fairly spicy. It was refreshing not getting the usual canned tomato stuff they have at other places! Tried a mission margarita which tasted very refreshing and not loaded with sugar. Our group of eight was able to be seated very quickly despite it being a Friday night. Apparently they have a $2 taco/ $2 tequila shot happy hour after 10 pm which I look forward to next time! Overall, a great west coast style taco place. read more

The tacos here were tasty (west coast style tacos), but some seemed a bit underfilled considering the price. I had the grilled chicken, fried Baja fish, and carne asada tacos. All three had excellent combinations of flavors, but the Baja fish taco suffered a bit from a lack of fish and the carne asada taco was better balanced, but a bit light on filling overall. The grilled chicken taco was much better, managing to fill the taco while maintaining an appropriate balance of toppings. While I'm rating it a 3/5, the flavors of the tacos would actually put it closer to a 4/5. I just felt that they brought California prices to go with the California flavors, which didn't seem entirely justifiable. If you want authentic west coast tacos in STL, this is a good spot to visit - just be aware that you may want to add a taco or two to your typical order. read more

Always good food seriously favorite and only place for tacos, however, when ordering online they do not offer the a la carte option with the tacos they only offer twins or trios of all the same taco. Kind of blows when I don't have time to eat there so I just have to compromise but you wouldn't think it would be that hard to allow customers to order each taco separately. We stopped in on Saturday night and had a really kick ass experience! See, we were in a hurry and needed a in and out type of situation. Thankfully, we were sat in Kayla's section, who one, was extremely attentive, but two, was just down to make it happen for us. Julia R and I were on Yelp Waitlist and were sat promptly when we arrived. We got our usual: A south beach burrito each, 2 Mexicali bulldogs and lately, my addition of the Ricki Ricardo- their seasonal cuban taco. Burritos were delicious and plump! A hearty dollop of fresh guac on top always makes me happy. The Mexicali bulldog is where it's at. It's one of their beertales. It has more booze than a margarita, but is two dollars less! TLDR; great tacos, good sides, fun ambiance! Stopped in here while traveling across the country to get dinner with a friend--LOVED it. Beautiful restaurant with really fun decorations in a lovely historic area. The inside is vibrant and we were seated very promptly. We were there too early to get any of the late-night specials, but they seemed like a good deal & I would definitely check them out if I was regularly in St. Louis! I got the Portobello taco and a side of Street Corn Off the Cob, and was very happy with it! The tortillas (home made corn tortillas, one of my absolute favorites/weaknesses) were absolutely wonderful, a great size & lovely corn flavor. Smoked mushroom had a great meaty bite to it, the crisp onions added a fun texture, and the aioli had a delightful spicy element. The street corn was also yummy, although I wish it had some cilantro on it (but I always wish there was more cilantro, so no hard feelings). Chofu taco= tofu chorizo taco. Unfortunately, it's not delicious like the similar taco offered at Pieces board game bar. But it's fine and a good vegetarian option. I hear the empanadas are a good option for vegetarians. The street corn is VERY good. Best I've ever had. Though I've only ever had it from two other places. For my Louisville Yelpers out there, this place is a better Citizen 7. I wish this place was spread out across the Louisville area. Mission appears to be a state chain with locations in St. Louis and Kansas City so maybe they'll come our way eventually. The only thing that seemed off to me was the decor. The mix of wood and brick just didn't seem like the right atmosphere for this place. After a long drive to St. Louis followed by a few hours of climbing around City Museum, we needed a place to eat fast. After finding this taco place, we weren't disappointed at all. It hit the spot and impressed. We arrived here around 10:30 PM. They stay open late which is nice. It just so happens that they have two dollar tacos and tequila shots after 10 PM. There were a lot of people there, but they didn't seem to understand how awesome that is! Most people were drinking at that hour. For a place with three and four dollar tacos to have a late night happy hour making those tacos two dollars is just unheard of. So two dollar tacos! YESSSS! I could end that review here with that information and that you should go but I'll elaborate. On the surface, this place is a fancy taco place where tacos cost you three or four dollars per taco. That's normal for a place like this in any city. I will say that I'm not sure if their tacos are worth the regular menu price. They are tasty and they have all the right ingredients to justify that price tag. They are on the smaller side which is unfortunate. When the tacos arrived at the table, I thought we were going to have issues because each taco only has one tortilla. Tacos like this can sometimes fall apart with one tortilla. Not these! They stayed together until they were finished. I want to go back asap! They have burritos and tortas that I wanted but on this occasion, 2 dollar tacos were too good to pass up. So I ordered 4! Listen to this torta though... House-made chorizo, soft fried egg, pickled jalapeno, smashed black beans, chihuahua cheese, and garlic lime mayo! I'm not even hungry while typing up this review and that has me drooling. They also have plenty of starters and sides that will keep you busy trying to decide on what you want. Chile crusted potato fries? We weren't close enough to New Mexico but they have to be good, right?! I still regret not ordering them. I also found myself having a hard time deciding on what tacos I wanted. I was looking at shrimp and fish based tacos that I'd never order. They were paired with perfect ingredients! On to my tacos: (Listed from least favorite to favorite) -- Brisket - Slow roasted brisket, pork belly carnitas, avocado, fiery Arbol sauce. This was a letdown and I honestly wish I would've ordered another taco in its place. I usually try brisket when I go different places but the brisket on this taco was too tough. It was still good but not my favorite. -- BBQ Duck - slow roasted duck, ancho-agave glaze, pork belly carnitas, smashed avocado, pickled onions, crisp jalapeno strips. I had to order this because you don't find many duck tacos on menus back home. It was good. The ingredients were perfect. My only oddness about these tacos was the BBQ part of it. Everything on the taco tasted like quality except for the BBQ part. I'd still eat these tacos all day! -- Spicy chorizo -- House made chorizo sausage, fresh avocado, wood-fire grilled pineapple pico de gallo, pickled jalapeno, cilantro-lime crema. Pineapple on a taco? Of course, I have to order it. Chorizo is normally spicy but I didn't expect it to be as spicy as it was. After eating this taco, it made wish I had ordered another. -- Habanero Chicken - This taco was THE BEST! -- Crispy Yucatecan marinated chicken breast, cilantro-lime crema, shredded purple cabbage and pickled tomatillo salsa on a tortilla. I expected this taco to be spicier than it was. It didn't set me on fire like the Spicy chorizo did. Chicken tacos are tough. Sometimes you find places that cook the chicken perfectly and other times the chicken is too hard or the flavor is absent. This place has chicken down. I loved this taco! Next time I visit St. Louis, three of these tacos will be on the agenda. The only issue I had here was the service. All the employees were nice but it seemed like the organization wasn't there or that they needed one or two more people. I'll admit, on a Friday night it was busy but there were a few times that it seemed like we were forgotten about. It was odd because our main server only took our order, kept our drinks(water/soda) filled, and gave us our check. Everything else from the alcohol to the food to taking our empty plates was handled by different people. It seems like an efficient and preferred way of doing things, but in order for that to be efficient everyone in the chain needs to be doing their part. Parking in the area is solid and the staff are super warm and accommodating! We were seated and we're ready to order! One thing I will say that caught me off guard was how overcooked the chorizo was, almost had a bacon bit consistency to it. Outside the chorizo, everything else was great! Our favorite taco was the BLT Taco - it almost brought us to tears with its surprising depth of flavors. Had the chicken quesadilla and street corn on Thursday night, by 6am I was shooting out chunks of corn and quesadilla from both ends. Had to call 911 as I was completely incapacitated. I'm not sure if they rub the chicken over their crotch before throwing it on the grill or if they use year-old rotting corn but an investigation from the Food and Beverage Control Program is warranted. Banging Dip platter for an app. The roasted green salsa was something different I had never tasted, like a Smokey bacon almost, so good. I had three tacos and all were bomb. Quality ingredients with just a special twist. Our server was great, chatted with us, was funny and just all around chill. Super chill vibe all around the place. Gals had the house frozen Marg which they say was near the top they've had. Real agave syrup and fruit juices. I'm told One will do ya . Since moving to STL I have only heard great things about Mission Taco. Having finally made it to one of their many locations, I can confirm that this is a great spot for inventive and tasty tex mex fare. Upon arrival I was met by a kind host who seated me promptly. I ordered the chips and salsas, a spicy chipotle and a milder option, both were delicious and fresh. Not sure if the chips were made in house but they were also quite good. The margaritas were delicious me and my friend both enjoyed them. They are definitely mild and easy to drink. My only complaint was that the size is definitely deceptive- the margaritas are served in pint glasses but they are mostly just ice. I ordered three tacos, a vegetarian option, a fried fish, and the seasonal taco that featured shredded chicken and their pork belly carnitas. All were delicious, flavorful, and well balanced. The side of street corn seems to be their staple. I really enjoyed the corn-off-the-cob mixed with flavorful aioli and quest fresco. The portion was large enough to share and enjoyed by both of us. The only real con to the restaurant for me was how loud it was. We simply had to yell across the table to hear one and other. Additionally it is important to remember that parking in Soulard can be tricky. I will definitely be back and I am excited to try some of the other locations. read more

My wife is pretty obsessed with Mission Taco. She takes any chance she has to suggest this as a destination for dinner. We have been to all of the locations in St. Louis. They all have similar high quality tacos. My favorite is the chorizo. I sometimes get the burrito, but without fail when I do I regret not just getting tacos. The chips and salsa (or guac) are great. The mixed drinks are also solid if you are in the mood. The one negative for this location is that it is in Soulard. I like Soulard in theory, but then get annoyed with the lack of parking any time I'm actually down there. If you are in the area, then by all means go to Mission Taco. Otherwise I'd only go here in off times. Also make sure you look to check in online. The wait can spike during busy times. Avoid the lines. read more

I've tried nearly all the tacos on the menu, and if I go back these are the two I'd order.
