We started with Stella on tap, which just felt appropriate while visiting St. Louis, especially after touring the nearby Anheuser-Busch brewery. It was easily one of the freshest Stellas we've ever had. For food, we tried the lobster mac and cheese, lobster bisque with pieces of lobster, a pound of steamed crab legs, fried green tomatoes, and the warm lobster roll. The lobster roll was phenomenal. We shared it, but I honestly could have eaten the entire sandwich myself. The real standout, though, was just how perfectly the seafood was cooked. Both the lobster and crab were juicy, sweet, and tender with just the right amount of chew. Nothing was rubbery or overcooked, but it wasn't soft or mushy either. I genuinely don't think they could have cooked the seafood any better. The fried green tomatoes were also cooked perfectly and something I was excited to try since you don't see them on every menu. Unfortunately, they were a little too spicy for my personal taste, so we didn't finish them, but that's definitely more about my spice tolerance than the quality of the dish. The atmosphere was another plus. It's a really cute setup with great ambiance, and our server was wonderful. We also walked right in without a reservation and had no wait at all, which has honestly been one of our favorite things about eating our way through St. Louis. Coming from California, we're used to having to plan ahead for popular restaurants, sometimes weeks in advance. Here, we've been able to discover some fantastic places without having to plan our entire trip around restaurant reservations. I will say, this was probably the most expensive meal of our trip. The one pound of steamed crab legs was $65 market price, and the lobster roll was $37 market price, so Peacemaker definitely isn't the cheapest place we've eaten. That said, considering the quality of the seafood and how much we enjoyed everything, it was absolutely worth the splurge. From the crab legs to the lobster roll to the bisque and mac and cheese, everything we tried was delicious. Combine that with the atmosphere, great service, and being able to walk right in, and this was easily one of our favorite meals in St. Louis. I'm actually hoping I can convince some of my coworkers from my training class to go back with me before I leave Missouri. I think that probably says everything you need to know about how much I enjoyed it.

The outside is very unassuming, as are most restaurants along Sidney St. in my opinion, but upon walking to the table for our reservation the first thing that caught my eye was the wooden plank ceiling which really fit the expected vibe of a seafood restaurant with more of an upscale feel. After being seated, our server brought us some water in these cool colored mason jars which added to the character of the entire restaurant. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed as she checked in quite a few times throughout our dining experience and answered our questions in full. We started off with some cocktails: the Port Royal as well as the seasonal slushie, the Yodermelon. Both of them were quite delicious, with the Yodermelon tasting exactly like a refreshing watermelon slushie; you could barely tell there was any alcohol in it! The Port Royal was very good as well and fit the seaside vibe with the rum & pineapple mixture. For the food, we got the seasonal salad which was a Tomato Salad with tomatoes (obviously) beneath a bed of arugula, peaches, pickled red onion, feta, croutons, dill, & a pistachio pesto. Although I really enjoyed all of the different flavors, I do wish the salad was mixed a little bit more as most of the pesto dressing was at the bottom which made it difficult to coat the rest of the salad as we ate. I ordered the Snow Crab Legs as my entree which came complete with a bucket & bib. The clarified butter & roasted lemon to drizzle really complimented the crab. There's something really satisfying about having to work for your food after you're already paying for it since, at the end of it all, you feel accomplished! Despite my love of crab legs, I can't help but feel like I should've ordered something else, though. They were delicious of course, but a side wasn't included despite the somewhat steep market price which meant I was left with a pile of crab legs and nothing else to snack on (besides my girlfriend's lobster roll & chips, thankfully). I was still left feeling hungry after making my way through the crab, so even a recommendation of ordering a side may have swayed me into having a more satiating meal. In short, it felt like I ordered one of the things on the menu that didn't have much character at a restaurant filled to the brim with it. I guess I was just hoping for a differentiator in the preparation or presentation that made this meal feel more unique, which I didn't really get. In summation, I was very pleased with Peacemaker Lobster & Crab and will definitely be finding my way back in the future, likely for a coveted Lobster Roll, but I will be passing on the crab legs next time.

Let me start with the menu. The hardest part was deciding what to order! The selection was impressive, and judging by our experience, there were no wrong choices. Our party of four started with gator tails and voodoo shrimp, accompanied by a fresh slaw. Both appetizers were excellent and set the stage for what turned out to be a fantastic meal. Our entrées included the Cajun sampler, grilled oysters, shrimp and grits, and the catfish platter. Every dish was met with enthusiasm, and everyone left thoroughly satisfied. Without cocktails, our two appetizers and four entrées, including a generous tip, came to approximately $200. Worth every penny! A special acknowledgment goes to our server, Jordan, who was bright, attentive, efficient, and especially helpful when it came time to navigate all those tempting menu choices. The kitchen clearly knows what it is doing, and the quality of the food and service made this a memorable dining experience. Now, about that first impression... Unfortunately, our arrival was the one disappointing part of the evening. The young lady greeting guests at the door wore a mask, but it did little to conceal what appeared to be a sneer at the inconvenience of greeting and seating us. With only two other tables occupied during our early supper, we were escorted to a dimly lit corner of the restaurant, seemingly without consideration for the dining experience we might have preferred. We were four middle-aged professionals coming off a workday, looking forward to good food, conversation, and an opportunity to unwind. Thankfully, another member of the waitstaff immediately recognized the less-than-ideal seating arrangement and graciously offered us a table in a brighter, more inviting area. That was our second first impression, and everything improved from there! From the attentive service to the exceptional food, the chef and waitstaff delivered an experience that more than made up for our initial disappointment. My only suggestion to management is to remember that hospitality begins at the door. The greeting sets the tone, and the welcome should reflect the same care and attention that clearly goes into the food and table service. The salad was good and I loved the croutons, although they were a bit tough. The calamari was quite tasty and seasoned well. As for my drink, let's just say I was NOT prepared. The drink itself wasn't the problem but more so the buzz flower that accompanied it. You're supposed to eat the flower first and then drink. It comes with a glass of prosecco as a palate cleanser but I don't feel as though it did much. I'd say that flower kicked in within 15 minutes and ultimately, that's when things took a turn. At first it felt like pop rocks in my mouth and then I started to feel awful. While the chaos was going on, I managed to eat my blackened salmon, which was delicious. The slaw was so-so and I could have done without the beans and rice. All in all, we had a lovely visit aside from the drink. It started with the cheese/tomato soup that I got with my burger. It was flavorless and tasted like water lightly infused with some tomato and cheese flavor. My medium burger was well done. Maybe even a step past well done, and was not edible. My wife's meal was good, but forgettable. The drinks were still good, but the poor food quality was a huge let down. The last part that dampened the mood was where we sat. They have a modest outdoor patio and then seating on the sidewalk along the front. We had put in a reservation for outdoor seating. As we walked up there was one table on the very far side of the sidewalk seating almost into a parking lot. I turned to my wife and said "I hope that isn't us." It was. It was just an awkward spot. It also mean that our server didn't check in with us that much. So overall, great spot for drinks. Really outstanding drinks. For the food though, go check out any of the dozen other establishments nearby that are better.

Our cocktails were definitely a highlight and top-notch. I'd specifically recommend the 2666, which on paper sounds a little weird, but was easily one of the best cocktails I've ever had. It also complimented our food well. For my supper club, I highly encourage everyone to share, so that we can all try a lot of the menu. For starters, we got the lamb stuffed grape leaves, Brussels sprouts, prosciutto and burrata, mango and roasted apple bruschetta, and their summer salad. Everything was delicious, and I was very surprised at the large portions--you are definitely getting your moneys worth with these! The Brussels and bruschetta were definite standouts. I was a little disappointed because their online menu still had the tartare listed, which was not on the menu at the restaurant any longer, but everything we got was superb, so I got over it quickly :) For mains, we split the jerk chicken, salmon, and the squid ink pasta. So this past Sunday, I took advantage of their Brunch. I started my Sunday breakfast with an adult beverage. Their Bloody Mary, has just enough spice to give it a good kick to start your morning. I don't know about you, but I always have to have a cup of coffee as a chaser for my Bloody. I take mine black and strong, to get through the entire day. For my entree, I built my own Omelette with, Spinach, Bacon, Onion and Cheddar Cheese. It was a light golden yellow and was filled with a generous amount of my chosen ingredients. As a side, it came with crispy potato wedges and a small cup of ketchup for dipping. The two paired together, made for an excellent Sunday Brunch. I always sit at the bar, since I usually dine alone and the service was attentive. The bartender was personable and lead the entire bar into a good conversation. I'm glad to be back in STL and I am super glad that my new condo is closer to Polite Society than my last home was. I'm confident I will be once again, be a regular.

I know they're free but many places offer some kind of free snack (Helen's has popcorn, some places still offer salted peanuts...) and I think it should make one think the chips are good the food will be better. As I was drinking I wanted some food and we got two chicken burritos, they were large and very good!! They were 2 for $14 if that gives an idea on cost. While I live just a few minutes from here, I haven't seen enough in 2 visits to say I'll keep coming here for Mexican, there are many other places in South St Louis to try.
