Honestly this place was so good! I love Mexican food and they did not disappoint. They take classics such as the chicken flautas and put their own spin on them... Everything we got there was so delicious I was tempted to lick the plate. read more

Chips were so hot tasting freshly done when they arrived at our table.. amazing. As if it couldn't get any better our main courses were delicious! I got a burrito and the meat was sooooo soft. We've lived in STL for 3 months now and kept hearing about how good Mission Taco is...we finally got the opportunity to try it. After a 25 minute wait, we were seated and had a friendly and enthusiastic waiter. He explained the tacos and other menu offers. He recommended their raspberry frozen margarita which I ordered. Glad I did cause it was damn good! Tacos were excellent...I found the portobello mushroom taco to be the best of the 4 I ordered. Tacos are about $4 each but quite good and you can taste the "quality" of the ingredients. Also, the chips at $3 are a steal cause they are probably the best I've ever had and the salsas are delish! Can't wait to go back. read more

If you want flavor in your food this is not the place to go. I had the brah'rito which tasted like salt & the carne asada taco which tasted like I was eating water because of the lack of flavor. I ordered the mission Paloma cocktail which tasted like lemon rind, the salt rim was also mixed into the drink. I won't be coming back again, but take your chances, $$ later you will realize you made the wrong decision. read more

Mine and my husbands favorite. I love the beef tacos and we always suggest it when going out with friends. Also my daughter had the impossible taco and we were all blown away at how good it was. Not something I normally would order, but it was delicious. read more

A great flavored taco joint with a lighting problem :). Good food and the service was stellar but it is on the pricier size for tacos. I don't give it 5 stars because our tacos weren't hot (mildly warm) and same with the fries. Mind you, they were still delicious and our server discounted them because of this. Also, the lights were so low that you'd spot at least one table using their I-phone flashlight to read the menu. A little tweaking and it would be a five star. read more

We stopped in here last night after a long day at the city museum. We held out for about 20 minutes so we could get the two dollar taco happy hour! Which did not disappoint! It was a fun and loud environment, We had excellent service, we did have To wait a while to get the table, but it was worth it read more

Awesome yelp reviews and word of mouth brought us here. Cute little place in Soulard that I so wanted to like, but unfortunately did not. Service was dreadful. I order a soda, server comes back with a water. Okay, not the worst thing in the world. I ask a second time and about 15 minutes pass before my soda arrives. I ask for a refill and the server holds my drink hostage for at least 10 minutes while chatting with a coworker. I almost got up to grab it from her hands. (Btw- they weren't busy) "Street Corn" is all the rage. I don't get this? Maybe we had a bad batch? Burnt corn in a bowl with a little cheese was what we experienced. Yuck. Split the South Beach burrito with the husband. Guac was tasty but when things come smothered, I get a sense it's an attempt to mask something. Burrito was mediocre at best. Tacos were probably the best part. Had the grilled chicken and a bite of the fish tacos. Overall a very Meh experience. read more

My friend and I stopped here after cycling the St Louis Riverfront Trail for some post-ride tacos and margaritas. I really liked that you can select individual tacos, so I ordered the fish taco, the carne asada taco, and the taco of the month which was a chicken taco with citrus and a habanero sauce. All the tacos are around $3 each. I liked all of them, but really liked the fish taco. To make matters even better, they have Ace Pear Cider. I liken Ace Pear Cider to sunshine in a bottle; and while the margarita was good, taking a long drink of that Ace made my eyelids flutter, and my toes curl. read more

UPDATE: The manager/owner followed up with me soon after this review and clearly takes their guest reviews seriously. Very impressed! ------------ Out of all the Mission Taco locations, this one has been the best. Better service and food overall. It would be five stars if it wasn't for my latest visit tonight (I'm there at least a couple times per month). There was no one at the hostess stand to greet us right away, which is fine as they might have been seating someone or stepped away for a second. About a minute later, a young woman, fairly sloppily dressed, unhurriedly strolls toward us, carrying a book with a finger marking a page. She then gestured to us and walked away; it was unclear if we were supposed to follow or not, as we were still not sure if she worked there (when we first saw her, she was talking to someone at a table, so she looked like a patron). She strolled to our table and walked away, book still in hand. We then saw her seat several other tables in the same fashion. If you're allowed to read at the hostess stand, that's one thing, but really? Carrying it around everywhere? Wow. Our waiter had the same unhurried, I-don't-give-a-shit vibe about him. He treated us like we were an inconvenience to him. His tone and attitude are a little hard to explain, but it was an uncomfortable experience. (Very out of the norm for this place.) Even though his pace was unhurried, we felt rushed to leave. The two positive things about this visit: - The food - always delicious, fresh, hot, flavorful. - The employee who brought out the chips/salsa and our food (same person). He was friendly, explained which salsas and tacos were which, asked if we needed more chips, etc. Finally someone who treated us like fellow humans. This was a 180 from the service we normally see - normally service is outstanding. We came about 1.5-2 hours earlier than normal, so maybe that's why (came at 6pm instead of 8pm). Disappointing to say the least. We'll definitely be back, but hope this kind of experience isn't a new normal. read more

First time at Mission Taco. Was greeted & seated quickly. Had Chips & Guacamole for appetizer. The Guacamole was great the chips were warm and good little too salty though. Also ordered a kiwi agua fresca (fresh water) which sounded delicious. I personally wasn't a fan of this drink had no flavor didn't taste like kiwi. To eat I got the Torta Ahogada which is slow roasted shredded pork, smashed black beans, chihuahua cheese, pickled onions, chipotle bacon, smothered in chile ancho sauce. I actually liked it just thought that the sauce should have been a lil spicier. I didn't like the side of fries that came with the sub. They were covered with chile pepper which was spicy was hard to swallow. The server was attentive and nice. Overall a good experience. Would definitely be back but to the Delmar location. read more

I've eaten at Mission Taco twice now. Both times I ordered chips & salsa which have been great- chips are really fresh and salsa is too. So far entree-wise I've stuck with tacos- the grilled fish tacos and carne asada tacos are my 2 faves. Generous meat portions and really yummy, fresh toppings! Most recently I also tried out the "taco of the month" which was a riff on Vietnamese flavors (Pho King I think). Not my favorite- meat was a little dry. Drinks are a little pricey, but expertly crafted AND infused liquors & juices are made fresh in house which is a big plus in my book. You'd spend the same amount on cocktails at Applebee's/ TGI Fridays, etc for something full of premixed sugar water. Love the fresh Cali vibe and lively ambiance! read more

Late night happy hour is where it's at! After 10 pm they offer $2 tacos and shots, and you seriously can't beat that. I tried the shrimp, fish, and portobello tacos and all were fantastic! My favorite had to the portobello though, very unique and flavorful. We also ordered chips and guac, and a side of street corn. Both were great! They also have a great drink menu of specialty cocktails and beer. We each ordered one cocktail and we're getting buzzed halfway through drinking them. So beware, they are lethal! They have a drink called the zombie that is limited to 2 per guest, so I'll have to check that one out next time I visit when I'm not driving. Cute date spot or great place to go and hang out with a group of friends. Staff was friendly, and very helpful for recommending things to order. Loved mission taco joint, can't wait to visit again! read more

Location is really neat and awesome you can add yourself to the wait list online but tacos are average. (Don't hate on me, I grew up in Arizona and spent the last 3 years in San Diego where mexican food and American mexican food are is abundant and delicious.) I had the chicken taco... eh Steak taco... good Shrimp and mango taco... yum! We also had their queso which was decent Their jalapeño salsa that was in the bottle was ok I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. I had some sort of pineapple drink which was fine. Good amount of alcohol. Our waitress was awesome. So overall can't rave about this place and I wouldn't be telling my friends and family front SD or AZ to go necessarily. I wish we would have gone for late night happy hour; I could see that being good for $2 tacos :) read more

This was our first time at the new location in Soulard. This is located at Lafayette and 9th across the street from Bogarts. The building is very cool w/ a garage door style opening in the front. The place is all exposed brick, wood and girders so very urban and cool. Unfortunately since there is so much brick and the ceilings are so tall....it was really loud in there and everyone had to yell. When we came in we left our cell number with the host. They will then text you when your table is ready. I wish more places did that. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Our bartenders were very helpful and nice. One of the things that I really love about Mission is their cocktail selection. I order the Delmar Boulevardier and when they made it they lit the inside of the glass on fire....so this is a great drink to order while at the bar. It was really good too. We started off with the chips and salsa and one was mild and one was hotter....but we felt that they were both kinda hot. We also ordered an assortment of tacos (fish, steak and pork) and some street corn and jasmine rice (I've never had that before here). Everything we got was really good. I think that our server was Daniel and he did a great job and was very attentive. We are so glad that they opened this location since it's much closer to our neighborhood. Great job guys! read more

Consider this a 3.5 Star review. The tacos were good. I tried the Portabella and Goat Cheese, the Cane Asada, and a special with fried chicken. Portabella 5 Stars Carne Asada 4 Stars Fried Chicken 3 Stars Also got a Mai Tai which was tasty but absolutely chock full of ice. Total cost for 3 tiny tacos and an ice laden drink - $20 Honestly, the service was good, the food was good, the drink was good - but nothing was "great" and for the price *shrug*. I think the street tacos are better at Diablitos Cantina. If someone else wants to go here, I won't protest but I probably wouldn't pick it on my own. If the tacos were $2-3 instead of $3-4 each, I'd be much more excited. read more

I ordered the New Year's Resolution... it's basically a guilt free burrito filled with tofu and veggies. While it wasn't popping with flavor, it was still good. However, I regret not ordering tacos, or at least something with beef or pork. The space is nice. The service was good. read more

Great food, great service. I always get the chicken flautas. They are unlike anyone else's. The exterior has a slightly sweet taste and is very light and crispy. The chicken, cheese, and corn inside is so creamy and good. The creama and ancho BBQ sauce compliment each other and the flautas very well. I like the soulard location much better than the Delmar one. The bar service at the delmar location has been terrible more than once, so much that I complained to a manager about one specific bartender which I don't typically do. I like that they changed their hours and are now open everyday. read more

Mission taco is my addiction. Great for lunch, dinner or a late night snack. I've never had a bad taco from here. I recommend them all. The south beach burrito is another one of my favs. The guacamole is delicious. Only downside is the chips and salsa are not free. Oh well. Drinks are great as well. I love the mission Paloma which is similar to a margarita and not too sweet. The aqua frescas come in many flavors like watermelon, pineapple, and my favorite, hibiscus. All these can be used to make a margarita. Great service and fun ambiance. I'm craving mission taco right now. read more

Mexican street corn off the cob...OMG, love it! They're street tacos are delicious but I always order the bra-itto, with extra ancho sauce. But you really can't go wrong with anything you order here. It's all sooooo good. Their house margarita is pretty good, but it's worth the extra $2 to get the Maestro Margarita. It's seriously the best margarita I've ever had. And I've ordered it multiple times on different occasions and all of their locations...and it's consistently amazing. Can't beat that! read more

Came to this location last night. I ordered their version of a Moscow mule.. our chips and salsa came, still no drink, then our tacos came, still no drink. I finally asked my server if my drink was coming (25 minutes later) he goes to check on it and comes back and tells me they are out of ginger beer. I feel like the communication between the bar staff and wait staff wasn't very good. I work in the industry and if we are out of something we are told to prevent situations like this from happening. I ordered a margarita instead and I was shocked that I was still charged for this. I didn't say anything but I just feel like if I was the server in that situation I would've had the drink comped no questions asked. read more

I have always considered myself to be considerate and look to treat people how I want to be treated. My wife and I have taken to supporting our favorite establishments that we used to dine in regularly by ordering out more often due to Covid-19. Also, it's not just about supporting everyone, WE LOVE FOOD period. We live a few blocks from Mission Taco - Soulard, so it's a regular joint but as of lately, last month or so, things have gone downhill at this establishment and they cannot blame Covid, it's their attitude. I generally NEVER want something for free nor expect refunds, I just want good service, the kind you PAY for and EXPECT. I always tip even when it's takeout and I encourage my wife to do the same so we can help the servers as much as possible because we have been fortunate during this turbulent times. My wife and I have made a decision not to order from this Mission again unless their main branch managers-owner has a little talk with them about customer service and proper management skills. MT Soulard is one of many restaurants we patronage regularly and we get along with the other restaurant managers and employees because they care about providing a good experience for the customers, notably Pizzeoli Wood Fire Pizza. We have ordered 2 pizzas and sides from them every Wednesday since the pandemic started and they always, always thrive to do better for their customers. Likewise, I treat them like family because WE are all in this together, so lose the snarky attitude Mission Taco Soulard. To be frank, this Mission's manager has made me feel like a POS with his less than stiller service skills that feels so insincere - snarky. You don't want my business, fine, I don't need you either. Oh, never had a bad experience at Chava's, so maybe you can to learn from them, hint-hint. read more

Very good atmosphere! Service was good although I wish our waiter talked a little more, he seemed to be very rushed. Had the Agua Fresca of strawberry and it was ok, had a weird taste, maybe it was the water who knows. Had the Chorizo con queso with tortillas chips and it was good. Had the brisket taco and it was yummy, also had the carne asada taco and the salsa on it was great but for me the meat lacked a little flavor. I'm from south Texas and use to Tex-Mex food which is full of flavor and being Mexican decent, authentic Mexican food is awesome! This was different but we certainly enjoyed it. Will come again to try the other tacos! :) read more

I will preface this by saying I have previously lived in cities know for their Mexican food. If Yelp let you rate service and drinks, those would both be 5 stars. We went in during a busy lunch day, and the hostess, food runners , and server were all attentive and quick. The chicken taquito appetizer is excellent, full of flavor and still light for being fried. If only they could have passed this on to the tacos. We had the carne asada, beef brisket, tofu, and chicken. The only one that had flavor was the tofu. Despite the very fresh ingredients, the protein lacked flavor and the corn tortillas were sort of rubbery in texture. Food a bit overpriced as well. Speciality drinks were excellent and fairly priced. I would try Mission again simply based on how excellent the taquito and service was. Also, the space is awesome. Will try different items on the menu and hopefully add more stars to this review. read more
