Carne Asada fries are amazing! Drinks are great! Wide variety of tacos to try. Nice spot to hang out with friends after work

I'm visiting here from California...... we have got some pretty great Mexican food in California but I have to say this is the best burrito the best Mexican street corn I've ever had and apparently from the length of this review the best to margaritas I highly recommend this place it's an historic soulard which is very cool I'm visiting here with my husband who is from this area but I would return to the establishment I highly recommend it read more

The fish on the fish tacos were RANCID I called the hostess put me on hold and basically told me it's nothing they could do after I spent over $50 on spoiled fish. read more

The fish tacos are absolutely delicious! So much flavor! The guacamole is a must here, with the fresh chips you'll be in heaven. The shrimp tacos are good but the batch I got had a little too much of the mayo, or whatever sauce comes along with it. The shell is not crunchy as you would suppose for a taco place. They are made with corn tortillas. This adds a great element of flavor and is surprisingly filling. A few tacos go a looong way. Also, the artwork on the walls is outrageous. I had a hard time focusing on anything else. read more

I'm sorry but just no. $10 for a hurricane, filled with ice, and that tasted of no alcohol. Margarita my mother was the same, filled with ice and she says she has had better elsewhere. She asked for a second one, told the server she wanted less ice in the glass and his response was "I'll either charge you double or you're getting a smaller glass." Excuse me but what? Now to the food, no one was really impressed. The street corn (overpriced for the small portion you get) was the table favorite as was the chips and salsa. I had the three-pigs burrito specifically saying NO ONION because they make me very sick. Mine comes out with onion as does the one on the other end of the table that asked for the same thing. This was that conversation: Server: Ugh, I can go have them take it off. Me: No, we have places we need to be after. Um.... (thinking of a solution) Server: Why don't you just take them off, they're just on the top. I was really shocked by this after saying they make me ill. Then I found more IN the burrito. Luckily I found them on my fork and got rid of them. I was hungry and only ate 1/2 of this thing. It wasn't good. Our waiter clearly was annoyed by us right after we ordered the chips and salsa and he went MIA for a bit. I'm not sure why. A table of 7 people. 3 checks. Should be a nice tip, correct? We will not be back. Food wasn't worth it and the service was atrocious. I'd never recommend this place to anyone. If this is something you like, great. But we like good service where I come from. read more

This place is for the hipsters. The tacos are legit. The bartenders are attentive. The tacos and salsa is good. I will definitely be back read more

I love this place because of the atmosphere & the food. They have great options & when they serve the food warm it is amazing. I have only had their happy hour special $2 tacos & house tequila, so i can't really say how the other food is. I have tried their elotes which they call "street corn" and it wasn't good. Their cilantro crema is super tasty, I always get it on the side of my tacos. read more

I have been to Mission Taco Joint several times. My favorite location is the Historic Soulard location, but I also like the CWE location. This review is in reference to my takeout order from the Historic Soulard location last night. While my go-to St. Louis Mexican place is and always will be Chava's, it was nice to mix it up and return to Mission Taco Joint. During my first visit in 2018, I got a variety of the tacos. They were pretty solid but a bit overpriced and small. I was not impressed. At my next visit in 2018, I decided to try the South Beach Burrito, which I really enjoy. Since this visit, I have gotten the South Beach Burrito each time I go back. Last night was my first takeout order from the Historic Soulard location, and I will say that it was very efficient. I ordered the South Beach Burrito and Chips and Salsa. I had barely left my apartment when I received a text that my order would be ready for pickup in less than 5 minutes. Talk about efficiency. Thankfully, I live close by. When I arrived, the order was ready to go, and I was already on my way home. The chips and salsa were solid. The top of the bag was especially good, but the bottom chips were a bit too salty. Both of the salsas were fresh and flavorful. As for the South Beach Burrito, I really like how the various components complement each other nicely. The rice, black beans, Chihuahua cheese, chicken, and guacamole taste great together. Overall, this is definitely a fun, solid restaurant with a good vibe. read more

I love mission to death. Had a not so great experience at this location today. The tortilla chips for the chips and salsa appetizer were WAY too salty (like visibly so much salt coating each chip) and our waiter was extremely soft spoken, making it tough to understand what they were saying. All in all, not a big deal, but still worth mentioning. Love their tacos. Kinda can't be beat around here. read more

Celiacs and other gluten free people: if you haven't tried mission yet, you're truly missing out. Lots of great options. I get my tacos without the corn tortilla because I was told that they are heated up on the same surface as the flour tortillas. However, there are tons of great taco options. My favorite thing to order is the South Beach burrito without the flour tortilla and with an extra side of the chipotle aioli. (Pictured here) I seriously dream about this dish. The street corn is their best side. Fries are not safe for celiacs as there is no dedicated fryer. The wait staff are super friendly and well versed on gluten free eating. And you cannot go wrong with their house margarita! read more

The food here was awesome. Coming from L.A. where we have some of the best Mexican restaurants this place was great. However, the hostess was a bit lame. I was alone and she told me I'm sorry, there are no 2 tops available and the bar is full. I said, how about a 4 top and surprise surprise she found a 3 top with attitude. read more

A must. Great service. Casual Environment. Sides start at $3.00 & go up depending on choice. One downer Chips & Salsa are not complimentary but for $4.00 comes w/2 different salsas and are worth it. Tacos $3.25. & up. I had 2 habanero chicken tacos & a frozen margarita. My date had 2 Mango-Hop-Anero-Shrimp Tacos and the speciality drink of the day a banana colada. My rating 3/3- read more

I've only eaten takeout a few times here so I can't give a full opinion. However, the food was good. It didn't like knock my socks off or anything, but I'm a tough critic. It's good enough to try again. Especially if margaritas are involved. Salute :-*. read more

Not only is Mission Taco my favorite place to get tacos in town it's my favorite Mexican food in general. And on top of that this is my favorite location. It's not nearly as hard to get into as Delmar and not nearly as loud as the CWE location. It has a cool feel inside with a large garage door in the front that opens during nice weather and good for people watching. They have great margarita offerings (I prefer Palomas myself which are equally as good) and their food is even better. I always get the fish tacos fried and it is an absolute TRAVESTY if you don't get a side of street corn. It's what dreams are made of. Always one of our favorite spots when we don't know where to eat on the weekends. read more

Had an absolutely awful experience with a bartender at this location. While placing and order to be delivered at itap, she was extremely ill-mannered and short-tempered. Then, my ordered was incorrect upon delivery. After bringing the order back to the restaurant and explaining the situation, she said that I was in the wrong and need to place and pay for a whole new order if I want my food. I was, and still an, flabbergasted at how rude this woman was tonight. We are frequent fliers at Mission, and can't believe how awful we were treated. Do yourself a favor and go to ANYWHERE else in soulard. read more

I nestle up to the bar with my friend Sam in tow. We get Palomas to start and they are a citrus treat. Then, we enjoy the fresh guac and chips as I wait for my taco trio to arrive. Today, I got the Grilled Baja Fish, Carne Asada, and Mango-Hop-Anero Shrimp. My fav of the three? The latter shrimp hand taco of 4 Hands Incarnation IPA battered shrimp, red cabbage slaw, fresh mango salsa, smashed avocado, and mango-hop-anero aioli. It's a fresh, powerful bite and pair perfectly with lime-sweetened Pacifico. It's perfect location on the edge of Soulard and late night happy hour (after 10pm) will always keep this place a mexican love of mine. read more

While visiting the area, a friend took me to this place. I was surprised and pleasantly surprised. Our server so delightful. Bubbly personality and just a wonderful person. She was very attentive and knew the menu to the T. The food was hot and flavorful. Those items on the menu that said spicy were indeed spicy and those items that read an infusion of flavor did not understate that. Everything was prepared with care and precision and the presentation of the dishes coming out of the kitchen were equally impressive. Other dishes that she said were enough to share were indeed big enough to share and then some. Definitely a must do if in the St. Louis area and definitely something I look forward visiting again on my next visit. read more

Came in with my significant other today (Saturday afternoon around 2) and started with the chips & salsa. They serve you a salsa verde & a traditional salsa. Both were good, neither too spicy. We also ordered the street corn & we both loved that. Now moving on to the tacos..we ordered the carne asada, mango shrimp, grilled Baja fish, the BLT, and the beef birria. The first thing I have to point out is that they don't give you any lime or grilled jalapeño....or anything to add any sort of kick to the tacos, and they do need it. The carne asadas were good, just fell flat on taste until my server was able to get some lime from the bar. After that those were amazing. I loved them. The mango habanero shrimp were my second fav & didn't need any altering. The grilled Baja taco was overly fishy. I'm a huge seafood & fish fanatic, but this was too fishy, and something was off so I didn't finish that one. Next time I'm going to try that one fried & see how it tastes. My husband loved the BLT taco, absolutely loved it. I think he regretted not ordering more of them lol. He and I both hated the beef birria. We feed our dogs purina chopped and it tasted exactly how that smells. It's served with an avocado & the two combined make for a mushy dog food taco. I do not recommend this one at all. It's mushy beef & mushy avocado. Not to hate on the avocado, it just didn't belong with this beef. At least not on its own. I know comparing it to dog food is harsh, but I challenge anyone working there to have a birria taco & crack open a can of purina chopped, take a big whiff of it & tell me you don't feel like you're eating something from the can. Unless you do, don't even bother saying otherwise. Anyway I'd like to end this on a good note & say service was great! We will be back, and next time we are asking for lime & jalapeño from the start lol & staying away from the ones we know we don't like. read more

Atmosphere is fun and casual! Their cocktails are delicious and the seasonal fresh squeezed juice is delightfully refreshing as well! To start, you can't go wrong with choosing salsa, fresh guacamole or even the queso that is topped with chorizo! Be careful not to fill up on Chips and dips because the tacos are amazing as well! You can't go wrong with whatever you choose! The meats are marinated well and the topping combinations are complimentary to each taco style. I loved the Mango Hop'Anero shrimp! It was bursting with delicious flavor! I also enjoy the Baja fish tacos. As far as sides go, my favorite is the Mexican street corn, then the rice. The beans are okay, usually a bit pasty or sometimes dry, but if you enjoy beans and rice with your tacos, it is still a good choice. 10 pm-close they have $2 tacos and shots, definitely worth it! read more

Excellent taco spot and the burritos are huge! Small selection of craft beer but good choices available. Put down a couple of Keith's corner IPAs with some chips and queso. Has been hit or miss. Kirkwood location not on par with Soulard or St Charles which are much better.

I always come here since it's so close and convenient to where I live. The service is always friendly and good and the food is consistent as well. Coming here, you got to obviously get the tacos as the name of the restaurant says. In terms of which ones to get? Get the fried fish tacos! Those are absolutely the best. I also enjoy getting the carne asada fries. Even though they are on the starter menu, you can definitely eat just that for a meal. It's definitely my favorite if I'm feeling fat! The drinks here are fun too as they go well with the tacos. Lastly and most importantly, after 10pm there's happy hour! $2 tacos and tequila shots! Holy crap this is probably the best deal after 10pm anywhere in STL! Have a fun night somewhere and then go after 10pm to get this because you can't beat it! read more

Neat and fun place. Better environment and bar than the one in the Loop. However, we had a bad server. I do not know his name but he got mad at us for ordering two drinks at the bar. There was 5 of us and our bill was well over 100 and he was arguing to us about two drinks. He made sure we were aware of this twice. Yes, he could have had a bad night as it was a Saturday and crowded but that is your job. However, it didn't stop here. They got our order 95% right. Not the end of the world but not right and one person we believe got sick off of the Duck Taco. The people behind the bar were nice and great so no issue there. Been to two Mission Tacos and not impressed. read more

My favorite stop for tacos and margs! The portobello mushroom taco is my absolute favorite.

The Mission Taco in Soulard is my favourite of the locations. CWE comes into a close second but is a hair short behind Soulard's location. Soulard's Mission Taco has the ambiance and feel that surpasses the other joints. With its bright colors and painted mural taking precedence of the place and of your view as you walk inside. The original building was a stable holder and the historic building has a feel you can't quite get at the other locations. It constantly catches your attention each turn you take. On beautiful summer and Autumn days they open the old garages (from what's thought to be an old auto shop here before they took over the building) which brings in the fresh air and natural light and a viewpoint of historic soulard. With its Idiosyncratic overtone to its quirky colors and historic feel, this is the mission you want to be at. And with all that at its doorstep you also get heightened drinks from a group of lovely bartenders. I always seem to get the best of food and drink from this location. Their seems to be an extra pep in the steps of the people who work here and I'm sure the management is doing something right as well for that to be happening. So please come to Soulard Mission Taco and grab a delicious Mission margarita (I get mine as a custom with a dash of one of their daily Aguas Frescas and a sugar n salted rim) eat flavorful tacos, feel historical while feeling hysterically happy and satisfied from your visit. Happy Taco Tuesday Folks. read more

A friend recommended me this place and I'm writing as I sit here eating my fourth taco . We ordered chorizo portobello , asada and shrimp tacos , and a milanesa and chorihuevo torta. Tacos are great and full of flavor . The portobello was my favorite and the chorizo my less favorite . I think the chorizo was too salty, my dad said it didn't have enough flavor ... who knows . What I really liked is that I think the tortillas are handmade , you can taste the corn flavor . Everything else was great . Tortas are HUGE you can probably share one with another person. As far as drinks we had micheladas and mezcal and maestro margaritas . I'm very picky about my micheladas but I have nothing wrong to say about this one . The mezcal margarita is strong but delicious . read more

It was just okay... expected more! I got the fish taco which was my favorite, and the chorizo taco. The chorizo was not good. The tacos are small and maybe a tad over priced for what you get. I got a side of rice and it was bland. It was also so loud in there I could barely hear the person across from me. The salsa was delicious though. read more

Mission Taco did not disappoint. Fresh chips with a mild and a spicy salsa were a good way to start with a Mission Margarita. The guacamole was great.
