Indoor place

My first impression of this place is "ooo" I like the decor. We were seated at a nice table tucked in the corner with pillows! We ordered a pitcher of the white wine sangria which is a great deal for 2-3 people or even 4 people. $60. My friend and I both ordered the lobster deviled eggs which were delicious, however the star of that dish is truly the bacon. We also ordered the goat cheese caprese salad which was a bit off with portions- tons of tomatoes and goat cheese. Not much balsamic glaze and or basil. Recommend more balsamic glaze and basil to balance out the bites of tomatoes and cheese. We also ordered the shrimp pappardelle which looked great. The shrimp were large too. Sadly, the dish tasted bland with watery tomatoes. My friend agreed that the sauce was not flavorful. Another one of my friends ordered the chicken which she reported was not that tasty. The dominating flavor was pepper when I tried it. On the upside, the chocolate mousse was tasty and so was my friend's espresso martini. If I come back-- it'll be for D and D (drinks and dessert).

We had the most amazing experience here. The ambience, food, and service was incredible. I had the prime rib and many at the table had the hamburger. Absolute best food in Bethany!

I really wanted to like this place. I was excited to try it. Had dinner with two of my friends here. For an appetizer we got the goat cheese and tomatoes. There could have been more drizzle of balsamic vinegar but other than that it was good. We also got deviled eggs. Here is my problem I had with this place. Due to my many food allergies I had asked for two orders one with out the lobster and one with for my friends. Well the dish came out and it was LITERALLY ONE deviled egg with out the lobster on the same plate as the three others with it. When I saw this I was confused and hesitant to eat the one that has been on the same plate as the ones with lobster on it. I had asked for another order with out any lobster on it and not even on same plate. Our waiter was hesitant it seemed to ask the chef as he said there were issues to even just make the ONE for me on the plate. Luckily, the order with no lobster came out fine. But it was just odd how the waiter said the chef face him a hard time about a plate for some one with severe food allergies. My friends got a shrimp and pasta dish. They said it was ok. One of my friends said there was not much flavor to it. Now on to the drinks. My friends shared a sangria pitcher I tried it. It was good. I had a martini and it was good. Gizmo Cosmo Tito's Vodka, White Cranberry Juice, Cointreau, Fresh Lime Juice. This is what I had. And than for dessert I had a very tasty espresso martini. My friends had some cake. I would only come back here for drinks and dessert. Staff was friendly.

Good all around, and unlike most places in Bethany, they take reservations!

As you can see from my more than ten past reviews over 4 years and my last review in August 2025…read morethis is now one of my top three happy hour restaurants during the off season. I will summarize my four most recent happy hour off season visits. We were first here at the bar with my six family and friends. Well finally the off season happy hour half price dinner entrees have finally returned here starting around mid October with pretty much the same entrees and menu as last year. They subsequently updated the half price entrees in early November. All items have pretty much returned here except for some new entrees. The good news is that at least two new half price happy hour dinner entrees were added including the surf and turf with espresso encrusted 4 ounce demi filet mignon with two skewered shrimps, yukon mash, tomato garnash with blue cheese in the middle of the tomato for $40 or half price for only $20. I never had espresso encrusted filet mignon, therefore I ordered and enjoyed mine medium rare. I could barely taste the encrusted espresso. I ended my dinner with my favorite Fiddlehead's draft honey porter for $6. My total bill was $111 with half price discount of $36.50 so my final bill was $77. On my second return I enjoyed my ahi tuna rice bowl with broccoli, ginger fried house rice, sprouts and ginger vinaigrette for $36 or half price for $18. My total bill was $72 excluding gratuity. On my third return I again enjoyed the espresso encrusted 4 ounce demi filet mignon, which I had ordered medium rare, but was over cooked to medium. I did not complain about returning my filet for a replacement, however I did show it to bartender Dennis. Next time I will order my filet rare. On my fourth return I enjoyed my usual cosmos and my ahi tuna rice bowl which was always properly cooked ahi style. Bartender Dennis always remembers I prefer a little extra spice, without me even asking for my Sriracha. Dennis recommended both of the above entrees. See my most recent pic of the new menu. Chef Cowan waved to me at the bar. Bartender Dennis served us very well supported by our usual excellent recommendations and conversations. Chandra and Cameron also said hello. The staff here are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. On Black Friday I purchased another $1k in gift cards for the off season from Off The Hook and Hooked in OC. Needless to say we will continue to return here for happy hour to spend our $1k.

Wish there was more octopus in the other starter but had good antipasto like flavors. I got the double cut pork chop as my main and enjoyed. It was cooked well and I liked the balsamic on the plate, however I do wish it had some sauce to pair with. The potatoes were great and a crowd pleaser. Drinks were solid. The pear martini was fresh and sweet. Shirley temple was standard but could've been fizzier in my opinion. We split 4 desserts amongst us: key lime pie, honey cake, flourless chocolate cake, and a peach crumb cake. The honey cake is unique and had a great moist yet spongy texture. The pie was a runner up, we liked the tartness and thick crust. We do wish our server paid more attention to us especially in the beginning. We weren't offered any bread and felt like the wait for food was very long. Other tables who arrived after us had already got their entrees and desserts while we were still waiting for mains. He also didn't check up on us like he did with the surrounding tables. The young bus boy however was great and kindly helped us in between.

Review for Heidaway - Bethany Beach, DE…read more It was the weekend after Memorial Day 2025--when the beach is still buzzing, but you can actually find parking and order a drink without elbowing someone in a straw hat. We rolled into Bethany Beach to kick off our summer, minus the chaos, and Heidaway was the first place that pulled us in with a wink and a steel drum beat. Right on the edge of the boardwalk, this place has big tropical energy. Think Key West meets Delaware--palm fronds, sea breeze, and the gentle background hum of fun. The outdoor seating is shaded but still breezy, like Mother Nature knows you want SPF without sweating through your shirt. And the music? Bright, beachy, and setting the scene for "yes, we are on vacation, thank you." Service? On point. From the friendly hostess to our magical waitress who somehow knew when we needed napkins, another round, or just a smile--everyone brought their A-game. No tourist trap vibes here. Just good, solid hospitality. Cocktails: We kicked off with a Moscow Mule, chilled in a classic copper mug and strong enough to make you forget your group chat's been blowing up since Tuesday. Spicy, refreshing, and just boozy enough to remind you you're off the clock. And the second drink? Let's call it the Mystery Mai Tai of Joy. We don't remember what was in it. We just know it was tropical, delicious, and made us say "we should move here" at least twice. The Food: Oysters Rockefeller - Baked to perfection, smothered in a creamy, herby sauce and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. The kind of dish that makes you lean back in your chair and toss your plate at a fireplace (if they had one) Lobster Roll & Fries - A buttery masterpiece. Generous chunks of lobster, golden toasted roll, and fries that nailed the crispy-soft ratio. They didn't hold back with the portions, and we didn't hold back either. Beet Salad - A beachy surprise hit. Sweet roasted beets, creamy goat cheese spread, and peppery arugula doing a power pose on the plate. It made us feel like we were balancing out the rest of the meal... even if dessert was already a foregone conclusion. If you're heading to Bethany and want to dodge the madness while still soaking up summer magic, Heidaway is a great spot. Come for the drinks, stay for the oysters, and let the ocean breeze convince you that everything is right in the world--even if only until Monday.
