Imagine being in the Olympics and heading into the finals knowing you are the favorite and totally flub. That was my experience at Salt Air. It's not a 5 star place with fancy table cloths but a solid contender for 4 stars. I walked in and was greeted by a great happy person. She looked really hard to find us a table and got one. Jose our serve was great. He went over the menu. He talked about customer favorites versus his personal favorites. I went with the seafood stew. They were out of fluke, a standard on their menu. Alright, it happens The others at my table ordered crab cakes, rock fish and tuna. The dinners start coming out and oh no, they put a crab cake in front of me. Jose looked at me and said oh no! He assured me he would fix it. The kitchen clearly prepared my meal super fast and fresh but it came when others were almost done eating. I have to take off a star for messing up my order. It tasted really good, was piping hot and filled me. I tried the crab cake while waiting and it was really good. It was crazy busy. I strongly suggest you try it here. You won't be disappointed.

Salt Air has it all. Excellent food, great staff, and crafted specialty cocktails. Our party of five included family and friends and we all left fully satisfied with our dining experience from start to finish. There are so many choices of restaurants in every direction here at Rehoboth Beach. A lot of menus are slight variations of the same things. However, Salt Air is next level using innovative recipes featuring locally farmed ingredients. Very creative offerings. Truly an enjoyable evening.

I went to Rehoboth Beach for the weekend and we dined at Salt Air on a Saturday evening and it was a great experience. We had reservations for 8pm. They were packed and swamped so we waited a few minutes while they were clearing out a party before us. Dining experience was amazing. This place is on the upscale, yet cozy, with rustic and unique ambiance. Unique decor and comfy cushioned pillows in some of the chairs. I would recommend studying the menu in advance so you can get an understanding of what you plan to order, just to make things run smoother. I was sort of stumped about what you order. Eventually, I figured it out I ordered the Crab Cake serverd over a flavorful cream sauce, Boardwalk Fries and a yummy pickled salad with cucumbers and veggies. I had this with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Delish! My friend, she ordered the Filet on the bone, a side of mash potatoes and a cocktail. I had one of the filets and they were cooked to perfection, like melt in your mouth tender, with a light vinaigrette with fancy, small mushrooms and peppers on top. Service was great. Very welcoming and attentive.

From my last review I said we would be returning with maybe 12 people but we only had 10 and they all enjoyed what they had. You must have reservations, especially with a large crowd. Considering it was a holiday weekend the wait for our table wasn't bad at all. Too busy eating to take pictures or to report on entrees this time around. Fun place - nice staff - sound level high but not overly so. Better than most of the places in town.

The burrata salad could have used more seasoning.

Salt Air is one of my favorite restaurants in Rehoboth which is why we always visit every time we're in town. This last visit, though, was not as good. I love the eclectic decor and atmosphere at Salt Air, and it looked like their menu hadn't changed too much since we were last there, but this time our portions seemed smaller. To start, we had the burrata salad which needed more seasoning. It was somewhat bland although the burrata was creamy, and I liked the pistachios. Usually I order the seafood stew, but I decided to try something different (our server was enthusiastic about it too), so I ordered the Togarashi crusted ahi tuna. It was slightly on the spicy side with the added chili oil which I liked, but the portion was small. There were just three pieces of tuna for $38, and I ended up eating more of the flatbread pieces in our bread basket than I wanted to as I was still hungry. My husband said the same about his veal bolognese. He liked it, but the portion was small, and there wasn't a lot of bolognese. Our friends ordered a salad with shrimp and the cheese and charcuterie board which I later wished I had ordered. I've since read they've changed owners which may be why, quite sadly, my favorite restaurant in Rehoboth may not be my favorite anymore.

"Salt Air" is a breath of fresh air. My daughter and I had a mid afternoon dinner and it was excellent. We were celebrating her admittance to Harvard to complete her masters & PHD. The atmosphere, the food, the service, our waiter All on point, 100% we will be back. Oh our waiter personally made the lemonade, that was the best I have had in a very long time. The crab cakes & asparagus was excellent. Thanks once again. Will be back this summer.

Birthday celebration! Creative cocktails and complementary crackers with housemade spread set the meal up for success! Great service! Delectable dinners!! Fabulously fried fries-came with the shrimp but were shared by all! There's a truffle option too!! Big chunks of lobster on the rockfish entree along with vegetables to completely balance the dish-delicious! The tuna was also a hit-topped with crunchy fried scallions. Sweet treat chocolate dessert was shared by the three of us as well!!

An amazing meal from the crackers and cheese to the entrees. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our pay for reservations (that should be credited later...just be sure to check your check) assured quick seating when we arrived. We were a party of five that started with the crab deviled eggs. The yolk filling was very creamy, smooth, and heavy on the mustard. Each half (4) had a lump of crab. I would definitely order these again. My FIL ordered the special, miso glazed fish with broccolini. It looked amazing and I was told that the glaze was not too heavy and the broccolini was cooked perfectly. My MIL had the Seafood Stew with ciabatta. It was served in a large bowl and it was full of shrimp, white fish, clams, and mussels. This was served in a tomato saffron broth with marble potatoes. I have already decided that this will be my next meal here! My husband had the crusted ahi tuna with mashed edamame. It was beautiful and my husband was impressed. Our son had the crab cake, cucumber salad, and french fries. I had to try a bite of the crab cake when he raved about it. The mouthful that I got was a huge lump of crab with some breading it was moist and flavorful. I decided on the Famous Shrimp Fry with creamed corn cornbread, fries and cucumber salad. The crust on the shrimp was crunchy (panko) and lightly seasoned with very little grease. The shrimp itself was plump and juicy. If I could've eaten more, I would've ordered more of the cornbread. It wasn't overly sweet and I was able to eat it with a fork without it crumbling (my personal test). We were all nicely impressed by the food, the staff and the decor. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

This review is a little late but I had to give Salt Air their review as we had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal here! The entire staff was fully prepped on Thanksgiving and everything from the service to drinks and food were wonderful! We wanted to come out for a Thanksgiving meal where all four of us (two children in tow) could have what we wanted for the holiday as far as our meals. Well, Salt Air delivered on that! I am not a "Thanksgiving meal" kind of gal so being able to get their rockfish entree with all the autumn and in season veggies had me ecstatic! To have the option for kids meals was also a huge bonus for my youngest chicken nugget lover. My husband tends to be a traditionalist with Turkey day and got his wish with their turkey meal which included a starter soup, a full turkey dinner with all the sides, and a dessert! The apple plum cobbler we shared at the end and it was met in your mouth goodness! My oldest got a roasted chicken entree with potatoes that he enjoyed as well. The boys ended with chocolate cake which was big enough for them to share. We all left very full and happy with our individual choices. I also have to give a shout out for their drinks- I forget the name of it but I had apple cider with tequila drink rimmed with cinnamon sugar that was soooo good, I broke my one drink only and had two! Our waitress was attentive and sweet and we had a lovely time. Thank you Salt Air for the special Thanksgiving experience! We will be back to visit in the summer when we are in the area again

Delicious dinner at the beach, great service and night out while spending the weekend in Rehoboth. The crispy brussel sprouts were delicious!

It was good. We had the Pork belly, halibut and shrimp fry. The pork belly was great and probably the best thing we had. The halibut was great but it was very basic and the sauce was wonderful but didn't make up for the blandness of the rest of the dish. The shrimp fry was good as well but nothing special in our opinion. The service was great and the ambiance perfect for a relaxing evening. I will definitely give Salt Air another shot.

A comfortable atmosphere with art and interesting decor on the wall. Our salad was greek and was overly large. Two of us had difficulty eating it all. It was properly dressed, and represented good value. I had the tuna that was cried in dried herbs. The dish was not successful in that the herbs lacked flavor and the tuna was bland. It came with rotini and cherry tomatoes that were ok. Our second dish was halibut with quinoa and asparagus. The halibut had a seared coating that didn't add much. The fish was properly, but not overly interesting. The starch was neutral and the asparagus was an asset. Too many flaws for the best review, but worth a visit.

Beautiful Rustic ambiance with light chatter. We were so surprised they could accommodate our larger party of 7 with kids. There were a number of families here. Don't let that fool you though. The service was attentive and well presented. And the food and drinks were all delicious! Pictured here are the bread basket with a whipped butter that is filled with a combination of herbs and goat cheese. The smoke show presentation was beautiful and they lifted the cover at the table to witness all of the smokiness. The mussels are buttery, the kids salmon was an adult sized portion, and the deviled egg with crab was a light bite appetizer.

Now we know why it's tough to get a seat; this is quality dining that brings customers back again and again. Ben and Diane (mixologist/hostess respectively) have been the owners for two years. I can't make any judgement about the prior ownership but I can say the current owners have nailed it. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and from the outset Ben made us feel comfortable and he obviously appreciated us as customers. The cocktails were exceptionally prepared. It's obvious he is not merely a bartender and is proud of the special attention and customized twists given to some very traditional cocktails--Sazerac, Manhattan, cosmo. The cream based crab soup was hearty and the seasoning was well balanced. It was a great start. My partner had the fish special and I had the short ribs as entrees. Both were spectacular. Ben had told us that "if this were going to be your last meal, have the short ribs." It wasn't our last meal but his assessment was accurate. I can't recall having short ribs that just seem to melt in your mouth. We were going to defer on dessert but opted for a variation of a flourless chocolate cake with caramel topping. Served warm it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. It's obvious that Ben and Diane have assembled a team that is as committed to excellence as are the owners. We've already made reservations or our next visit. Can't wait!

They were very attentive and friendly. They made the visit enjoyable. The menu lights up... literally. Super fun to pick from the numerous drink and food options. For a speakeasy, you will be surprised at how many different options there are. The prices are beyond reasonable for the craft cocktails and amazing food. Started off with cocktails (first round) - Veruca Salt (highly recommend due to its spicy foam & deliciousness), Purple Butterfly (yum), The Ultimate Dirty Martini (very pungent), and The Smoked Cherry (nice presentation/event - also tasty). All of these were delicious and made well. Second round was The Night Shift and a Brown Butter Old Fashioned and again, both delightful. Dessert round was Creme Brûlée Espresso Martini (highly recommend - great presentation with a small mallet that cracks the brûlée on top & absolutely amazing - this is a sweet drink so loom as a dessert option), Espresso Martini (hazelnut flavor and good), and a Carijilo. All items from the bar were super tasty and well made. This is a craft drink place and the quality and attention to details are spot on for the speakeasy vibe. Not only are the drinks superb, but the food is also very well made and very affordable. We started with the cheese tower which is a great option for a group to enjoy. We also ordered the calamari which came with the most delicious horseradish dipping sauce, and lamb lollipops (4 per order). All of this was delicious. Then, tried the seafood bisque, French onion soup, Pumpkin/Crab/Mushroom Soup, and Seared Sea Scallops. The soups were super filling and all had a terrific flavor profile. The scallops were served on risotto and this was great. Seriously, the food is amazing. Not what you normally would find in a speakeasy. They even had dessert options (we had drinks instead). This was a lovely experience. Just overall fantastic and a great surprise hidden in a beach town. For sure make reservations. If visiting for the week, just go ahead and pick two nights to visit so you can try all of the things. Well done. Looking forward to another visit.

Omg best pot pie ever! And a fantastic happy hour :)…read more My husband and I stopped in for a quick Christmas lunch while shopping in Rehoboth. He ordered the lobster pot pie and I had chicken white chili and a salad. Everything was amazing! We were super impressed with the chili and were trying to reconstruct the recipe as we ate. But then the pot pie arrived. And holy cow! From the presentation to the chunks of lobster ... best ever! Oh - and half price martinis ... great way to start the season!

The 12 oz steak was cooked to a medium rare perfection and fries were crispy! Sundays are ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR too! 25% off all appetizers (did not order) and drink specials including 50% off all Specialty Martinis! Chose a pumpkin espresso! When I asked for my bill, Matt (bartender) asked if I wanted vanilla or chocolate sundae! I told him I didn't order one. He responded that it's part of the $20 Sunday Special. I asked to see the menu to add one or two toppings and he said you GET THEM ALL on the side! Ugh! I received it just to be polite and ate a little, not all. Hated to waste all those toppings but that's how it is served (see picture). Great food and service! Great to watch the games too at the long bar!

After many a weekend spent and many a restaurant tried we welcomed new eats at The Blue Hen. This menu is intriguing- small, tight but inventive- we were so excited to eat here! Was wonderful in having a table ready when we arrived for at-will, no reserve seating at about 7pm. Quiet corner. Promptly greeted by our server. She was gracious, so nice, and helpful our whole dining time. We ordered readily, in Mom's overwhelming hunger, lolol. Ordered the Lobster Toast and the Yellow Tomato Gazpacho, as starters. Amazingly accommodating on our order of this gorgeous gazpacho. We were given 2 bowls to split this tomato beauty. A few spoons of smooth & sweet, acidic, flavorful, gripping. Could have ordered more! The Lobster Toast- Accompanied by a concoction of radish, sesame, bitter-sweet....stunning bites in this salad. Unfamiliar but pronounced in the combination. Well done. The lobster- Absent. Wished for an open faced variety. Or at least a dish that advocates for lobster. Charge more. Bigger brioche. Pronounce those beautiful lobster bites in presentation. The lobster as served, was not the star. Ok, a moment for cocktails though- Whoa. Killer kill. The Church Girl Martini. Blessed be in evil, haha This Girl was too tasty in being that strong. So good in flavor, unbeknownst combos. A definite Watch Yourself and watch out for!! Entrees.....well when ordering was told the Sea Bream was out- disappointed on that. The entree menu is small, so should keep available. And when we entered the restaurant it was busier after we sat....so why out of a primary fish already?? So decided ahead- Mom had the Burger and I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. The burger- smashed, but still big patties. A perfect medium. Good overall. The bacon jam was an ask on the side. The bacons were really spicy lardons and were delicious. My crab cake sandwich. Hmmm. You are a sandwich. For the pricing, it's not there. Ate the Lumps, but the rest of the sandwich should I say was in the Dumps? Nothing to be said of standout. Would recommend putting this crab cake as a stand alone entree with accompaniment. Forget the bun. Overall food gets a 3.75. Drinks, environment and service a 4. The Blue Hen is not Spent. But also is not the Top Chicken.

The oysters were very fresh and the salmon main with bokchoy is delicious. The calamari is interesting with bits of salami. Fish dip is a bit bland but tastes clean and healthy lol. Server seemed annoyed throughout the whole night but maybe it was an off day for her.

Introduction on Dewey Beach trip:…read more Representing 2023, W is for Woody's. In September 2023, I was on a group beach trip at a house in Dewey Beach a close walk to Woody's. I stayed for 3 nights. The timing of this trip ended up being good for three reasons: 1. Three weeks earlier I had surgery for cancer on Tuesday, 8/15/23. I was not aloud to go in pool, beach, or bathtub for exactly 3 weeks. My community pool's last day for the season was Labor Day Monday, 9/4/23 (2 weeks 6 days after my surgery), which kind of sucked because that kissed going to my community pool the rest of the season or any other pool parties. About a week earlier, my friend convinced me to go on the trip saying there was availability in the house during the Monday to Friday part. Ultimately, I decided to take off work on that Tuesday and worked from the house on Wednesday, but I had a great time on the trip that I decided to extend to Thursday doing the same working at the house. And I was able to fully enjoy the beach on Tuesday, 9/5 exactly 3 weeks later with no issues. As well as the other 2 days to lesser extent as I had work too. 2. DC/Maryland was experiencing an intense September heat wave with temperatures in the upper 90's; so it was great timing to escape to the beach where temps there were still pretty hot as high as low 90's. 3. Most importantly, I met my girlfriend of now 2 years on this trip! We were friends for several months, but then dating started in February 2024. Experience with Woody's: If I hadn't extended my trip into Thursday, I wouldn't have tried Woody's. I was tired of leftovers after Tuesday & Wednesday night; I decided to go to Woody's for dinner. I called in the order, walked over didn't have to wait long, and took back. Friends looked a little jealous. I got the crab cake sandwich with fries. It was an amazing crab cake with great fries. It certainly wasn't a cheap dinner, but it was worth it for a good amount of crab cake with a high quality.
