I really wanted to love this place more. Everything looked great but my food felt like it was lacking some flavor. I got the country fried streak and felt under seasoned. My wife and kids though loved their selections. My wife and daughter shared the waffle board and my son loved his chicken salad sandwich. The scrapple was nice and crispy. I was at Lewes Beach for the weekend and we came here to Dewey Beach for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Monte Cristo Belgian Waffle sandwich that came with home fries and hot coffee. The Waffle sandwich was made to perfection with little crystals of sugar cooked into the waffles, warm syrup on the side with ham and cheese on the inside. Super indulgent. I had to take half to go and ate it later. Yummmy!Yummy!! They were attentive and I really felt taken care of. The atmosphere is cozy, well lit, very popular place! It's really amazing that I never made it to this place in all the years I have visited. It was right there the whole time, like right next door to the hotel I was staying at. It was just there. Most likely the reason I never got here was the fact that they are open for only breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I'm not a big fan of being up and functioning at that time, let alone eating. However, my friends made sure to get me here on my last visit. The Dewey Post is quaint. It has so much charm to it. During the warmer months you have the opportunity to eat outside on either the deck or sidewalk. Or, if you wish, you can dine inside, if you do, it feels like you are in the dining room of a very welcoming home. To get to your seats you will have to pass by the display case where there are multiple pastries on display that will undoubtedly temp you to ruin your meal. Once I got to the table my friends were at I had a menu in hand and was looking it over. There were tons of recommendations from everyone at the table, especially since they have come before. I kept going back and forth on a few items, while I was still mulling it over I did place my drink order. I wanted sweet tea, when I had asked, they told me they don't have it on the menu, but they could put some simple syrup in their iced tea. That worked just fine for me, didn't taste too bad either. I also asked for some water. I finally decided on what to get and I went with the Sausage Gravy. This was so delicious that it had me nearly licking my plate. Not sure how they make their gravy, but it was very tasty and made me want more. But I don't think that this should be overshadowing the base of the plate. That buttermilk biscuit situated underneath it all. With each bite I took, I made sure that scooped up more and more of that gravy. making sure each bite almost was covered in it. What I liked most about it was the size of the chucks of sausage within the gravy. This is a comfort food and it definitely brought me comfort. It made me sleepy and that wasn't so bad since I just had to go back right next door. read more

Adorable spot! Waffles were yummy. I had Blueberry - delicious! Hubby had Chunky Monkey - very good though waffles were a bit dry. Daughter got Waffle board, good but not worth it for two cut up waffles, two dips and some fruit ($20). Recommend just getting a waffle dish. Spied on person next to us who got egg plate, eggs looked really good. For the stop-in crowd, the donuts/pastries looked absolutely delicious and iced latte we got was very good. Would be 4.5 stars as hubby's waffle was so dry, but picking between 4 or 5, rest was worth a 5. Forgot to take pics though. read more

Never felt so uncomfortable in my life. We've been here a few times, however at our most Recent visit there were no seats available except at the bar. I have no problem waiting because I do not want to sit at an uncomfortable bar while eating my breakfast. However, one of the workers came up to us and let us know that if we don't want to sit at the bar, there is no point in waiting becuase a preschool just let out and a bunch of families just came in and more would be coming in later. This could have been communicated in a better way and just left a bad Taste in my mouth. I would have had no problem waiting for a table to open up, but it seems They would have rather waited for larger parties to come in and prioritized locals more. I'm not going to beg someone to take my money so I spent it elsewhere. read more

The Dewey Post needs more shoutouts on here! When looking for places to eat, my friends and I were surprised this place only had 30 some reviews. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating, so you'll mostly likely have to wait 30-45 minutes before being seated. Of you have the time, it's worth the wait. Their drink and food menus are super fun and diverse. Their chicken biscuits were a favorite amongst our group. We did have to wait a while for our food (-20/30 minutes after ordering), but it just gave us a greater appreciation once we got it. read more

First time at Dewey Post with the family. Came in the off season in a Sunday morning so parking wasn't an issue and we were seated fairly quick. Everyone who works there was extremely friendly and made us all feel welcome. Their cold brew was phenomenal. Wife built her own breakfast sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had their "plain Jane" avocado toast with a fried egg which was excellent. I also had a three fried egg breakfast platter. It was also very very very good! It came with so much. Choice of meat (I had bacon of course lol) toast, home fries, and fruit. Very nice selection. Kids had a donut and croissant from the bakery window, along with a chocolate chip waffle. Totally cute and so very delicious! We headed to the Dewey Post because it was close and cute. We are going back today because it was the best breakfast we had on our trip... by far! We had four amazing meals. The three egg breakfast was highlight by its super yummy sausage, well seasoned potatoes, and fresh fruit. The apple french toast was probably the favorite among all of us. The ice cream made the dish... take my ten year old's advice and order a side of bacon!!! I had the eggs benedict and a peach Bellini. Oh, I almost forgot... fresh squeezed OJ was a huge hit! The place looks very nice, the perfect place to have coffee or meet a friend. I was welcomed when I came in and thanked when I left. I just bought a bear claw with raspberry filling. Unfortunately, it was dry and may have been a day old which isn't really a problem if it weren't dry. I can't really discourage anyone from checking out the place based on this experience. The food was excellent. I chose the build your on breakfast sandwich. I went with the classic bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant. My husband got bacon a sausage with cheese and egg on a croissant with a little drizzle of maple syrup. I got an iced latte and he chose fresh squeezed orange juice with a traditional black coffee. The inside of the place is inviting and decorated nicely. The service was excellent and the staff all seemed like friendly people. For the price, the quality of the food was excellent. We will return here on our next beach stop down in Dewey! read more

We were so excited about trying this for brunch. Walk into a quaint yet bustling little shop. The decor is adorable, aroma is divine and everyone seems to be having a good time. We sit in the last open booth, are brought waters and drink orders were taken. I got the chicken and waffle Bloody Mary and he got a Paloma. The bloody was described with it being served with a chicken and waffle slider on top. I was so excited but quickly disappointed when they brought my Bloody Mary out and the biscuit was brought completely separate at a different time. His Paloma was fine. Jammy Egg was a great concept but lacked execution and that wow factor when taking a bite. A little sweet but mostly bland I got the she bowl which was shredded sweet potatoes, some kind of meat and a very small egg over easy and cheese. It was just fine. For the size of the bowl and amount of potatoes and cheese, there needs to be two eggs. I think the shredded sweet potato was soggy and just kind of mushed in your mouth. After eating a little under half, I noticed some kind of liquid pooling on the bottom. It was oil. Just a pool of oil under the potatoes so I stopped eating it. $75 for brunch and we were both pretty disappointed even though the menu descriptions sounded so promising. read more
