Delicious pastries from Brule' Bakery made by Pastry Chef Dru
    Sarah B.

We had a wonderful breakfast today. In fact my husband couldn't decide so he ate two breakfasts. One of the best chicken fried steak and eggs we have had in Delaware made with flank steak. I enjoyed the best pastry I have eaten yet from Brule' Bakery a creation by Pastry Chef Dru. It was fresh, warm, and so delicious! I enjoyed it with an oat milk matcha latte. Such a great place for breakfast any time of year

It's really amazing that I never made it to this place in all the years I have visited. It was right there the whole time, like right next door to the hotel I was staying at. It was just there. Most likely the reason I never got here was the fact that they are open for only breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I'm not a big fan of being up and functioning at that time, let alone eating. However, my friends made sure to get me here on my last visit. The Dewey Post is quaint. It has so much charm to it. During the warmer months you have the opportunity to eat outside on either the deck or sidewalk. Or, if you wish, you can dine inside, if you do, it feels like you are in the dining room of a very welcoming home. To get to your seats you will have to pass by the display case where there are multiple pastries on display that will undoubtedly temp you to ruin your meal. Once I got to the table my friends were at I had a menu in hand and was looking it over. There were tons of recommendations from everyone at the table, especially since they have come before. I kept going back and forth on a few items, while I was still mulling it over I did place my drink order. I wanted sweet tea, when I had asked, they told me they don't have it on the menu, but they could put some simple syrup in their iced tea. That worked just fine for me, didn't taste too bad either. I also asked for some water. I finally decided on what to get and I went with the Sausage Gravy. This was so delicious that it had me nearly licking my plate. Not sure how they make their gravy, but it was very tasty and made me want more. But I don't think that this should be overshadowing the base of the plate. That buttermilk biscuit situated underneath it all. With each bite I took, I made sure that scooped up more and more of that gravy. making sure each bite almost was covered in it. What I liked most about it was the size of the chucks of sausage within the gravy. This is a comfort food and it definitely brought me comfort. It made me sleepy and that wasn't so bad since I just had to go back right next door.

Local hot sauce. Not too hot, great flavor.

Delicious & different. Friendly, hospitable staff. Very personable server. A must for breakfast or brunch.

Breakfast burrito with scrap & eggs - meh! Perhaps sausages would be better.

Very popular restaurant! We waited almost an hour for a table! My chicken salad with bacon on a croissant was delicious! Will definitely order again! My friend's breakfast burrito with scrap & eggs was unfortunately not so good. We both ordered cold brew coffee and liked it! There is a nice bayside beach and marina nearby. Lovely!

I will have to come back to try out the food as it seems this location gets high marks. But as for the smoothies, I would pass. They're very very sweet, more ice and fruit mixed with not a whole lot of flavor.

Excellent food with great service! Started with the Peach Ricotta Toast that we split. Took some delicious pastries for the road. Great indoor and outdoor seating.

The Dewey Post needs more shoutouts on here! When looking for places to eat, my friends and I were surprised this place only had 30 some reviews. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating, so you'll mostly likely have to wait 30-45 minutes before being seated. Of you have the time, it's worth the wait. Their drink and food menus are super fun and diverse. Their chicken biscuits were a favorite amongst our group. We did have to wait a while for our food (-20/30 minutes after ordering), but it just gave us a greater appreciation once we got it.

    Everything was so delicious!

Totally cute and so very delicious! We headed to the Dewey Post because it was close and cute. We are going back today because it was the best breakfast we had on our trip... by far! We had four amazing meals. The three egg breakfast was highlight by its super yummy sausage, well seasoned potatoes, and fresh fruit. The apple french toast was probably the favorite among all of us. The ice cream made the dish... take my ten year old's advice and order a side of bacon!!! I had the eggs benedict and a peach Bellini. Oh, I almost forgot... fresh squeezed OJ was a huge hit! We were fortunate enough to have Ava as our server. She was kind and gracious, prompt and made great recommendations... and always had a smile : ) Enjoy!

Great place to have breakfast on the weekend. The boozy nilla latte was surprisingly very boozy for a morning drink to get you going. The veggie frittata was a nice well rounded breakfast of fresh fruit and vegetables. Love that it is dog friendly. Can't wait to come again later this year. The wait staff all pitch in here to make sure you are adequately served.

Introduction on Dewey Beach trip:…read more Representing 2023, W is for Woody's. In September 2023, I was on a group beach trip at a house in Dewey Beach a close walk to Woody's. I stayed for 3 nights. The timing of this trip ended up being good for three reasons: 1. Three weeks earlier I had surgery for cancer on Tuesday, 8/15/23. I was not aloud to go in pool, beach, or bathtub for exactly 3 weeks. My community pool's last day for the season was Labor Day Monday, 9/4/23 (2 weeks 6 days after my surgery), which kind of sucked because that kissed going to my community pool the rest of the season or any other pool parties. About a week earlier, my friend convinced me to go on the trip saying there was availability in the house during the Monday to Friday part. Ultimately, I decided to take off work on that Tuesday and worked from the house on Wednesday, but I had a great time on the trip that I decided to extend to Thursday doing the same working at the house. And I was able to fully enjoy the beach on Tuesday, 9/5 exactly 3 weeks later with no issues. As well as the other 2 days to lesser extent as I had work too. 2. DC/Maryland was experiencing an intense September heat wave with temperatures in the upper 90's; so it was great timing to escape to the beach where temps there were still pretty hot as high as low 90's. 3. Most importantly, I met my girlfriend of now 2 years on this trip! We were friends for several months, but then dating started in February 2024. Experience with Woody's: If I hadn't extended my trip into Thursday, I wouldn't have tried Woody's. I was tired of leftovers after Tuesday & Wednesday night; I decided to go to Woody's for dinner. I called in the order, walked over didn't have to wait long, and took back. Friends looked a little jealous. I got the crab cake sandwich with fries. It was an amazing crab cake with great fries. It certainly wasn't a cheap dinner, but it was worth it for a good amount of crab cake with a high quality.

They were very attentive and friendly. They made the visit enjoyable. The menu lights up... literally. Super fun to pick from the numerous drink and food options. For a speakeasy, you will be surprised at how many different options there are. The prices are beyond reasonable for the craft cocktails and amazing food. Started off with cocktails (first round) - Veruca Salt (highly recommend due to its spicy foam & deliciousness), Purple Butterfly (yum), The Ultimate Dirty Martini (very pungent), and The Smoked Cherry (nice presentation/event - also tasty). All of these were delicious and made well. Second round was The Night Shift and a Brown Butter Old Fashioned and again, both delightful. Dessert round was Creme Brûlée Espresso Martini (highly recommend - great presentation with a small mallet that cracks the brûlée on top & absolutely amazing - this is a sweet drink so loom as a dessert option), Espresso Martini (hazelnut flavor and good), and a Carijilo. All items from the bar were super tasty and well made. This is a craft drink place and the quality and attention to details are spot on for the speakeasy vibe. Not only are the drinks superb, but the food is also very well made and very affordable. We started with the cheese tower which is a great option for a group to enjoy. We also ordered the calamari which came with the most delicious horseradish dipping sauce, and lamb lollipops (4 per order). All of this was delicious. Then, tried the seafood bisque, French onion soup, Pumpkin/Crab/Mushroom Soup, and Seared Sea Scallops. The soups were super filling and all had a terrific flavor profile. The scallops were served on risotto and this was great. Seriously, the food is amazing. Not what you normally would find in a speakeasy. They even had dessert options (we had drinks instead). This was a lovely experience. Just overall fantastic and a great surprise hidden in a beach town. For sure make reservations. If visiting for the week, just go ahead and pick two nights to visit so you can try all of the things. Well done. Looking forward to another visit.

After many a weekend spent and many a restaurant tried we welcomed new eats at The Blue Hen. This menu is intriguing- small, tight but inventive- we were so excited to eat here! Was wonderful in having a table ready when we arrived for at-will, no reserve seating at about 7pm. Quiet corner. Promptly greeted by our server. She was gracious, so nice, and helpful our whole dining time. We ordered readily, in Mom's overwhelming hunger, lolol. Ordered the Lobster Toast and the Yellow Tomato Gazpacho, as starters. Amazingly accommodating on our order of this gorgeous gazpacho. We were given 2 bowls to split this tomato beauty. A few spoons of smooth & sweet, acidic, flavorful, gripping. Could have ordered more! The Lobster Toast- Accompanied by a concoction of radish, sesame, bitter-sweet....stunning bites in this salad. Unfamiliar but pronounced in the combination. Well done. The lobster- Absent. Wished for an open faced variety. Or at least a dish that advocates for lobster. Charge more. Bigger brioche. Pronounce those beautiful lobster bites in presentation. The lobster as served, was not the star. Ok, a moment for cocktails though- Whoa. Killer kill. The Church Girl Martini. Blessed be in evil, haha This Girl was too tasty in being that strong. So good in flavor, unbeknownst combos. A definite Watch Yourself and watch out for!! Entrees.....well when ordering was told the Sea Bream was out- disappointed on that. The entree menu is small, so should keep available. And when we entered the restaurant it was busier after we sat....so why out of a primary fish already?? So decided ahead- Mom had the Burger and I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. The burger- smashed, but still big patties. A perfect medium. Good overall. The bacon jam was an ask on the side. The bacons were really spicy lardons and were delicious. My crab cake sandwich. Hmmm. You are a sandwich. For the pricing, it's not there. Ate the Lumps, but the rest of the sandwich should I say was in the Dumps? Nothing to be said of standout. Would recommend putting this crab cake as a stand alone entree with accompaniment. Forget the bun. Overall food gets a 3.75. Drinks, environment and service a 4. The Blue Hen is not Spent. But also is not the Top Chicken.

It's obvious he is not merely a bartender and is proud of the special attention and customized twists given to some very traditional cocktails--Sazerac, Manhattan, cosmo. The cream based crab soup was hearty and the seasoning was well balanced. It was a great start. My partner had the fish special and I had the short ribs as entrees. Both were spectacular. Ben had told us that "if this were going to be your last meal, have the short ribs." It wasn't our last meal but his assessment was accurate.
