Belgian Waffle Monte Cristo!! Amazing!!
Nina R.

I was at Lewes Beach for the weekend and we came here to Dewey Beach for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Monte Cristo Belgian Waffle sandwich that came with home fries and hot coffee. The Waffle sandwich was made to perfection with little crystals of sugar cooked into the waffles, warm syrup on the side with ham and cheese on the inside. Super indulgent. I had to take half to go and ate it later. Yummmy!Yummy!! They were attentive and I really felt taken care of. The atmosphere is cozy, well lit, very popular place! Highly recommend for brunch!

It's really amazing that I never made it to this place in all the years I have visited. It was right there the whole time, like right next door to the hotel I was staying at. It was just there. Most likely the reason I never got here was the fact that they are open for only breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I'm not a big fan of being up and functioning at that time, let alone eating. However, my friends made sure to get me here on my last visit. The Dewey Post is quaint. It has so much charm to it. During the warmer months you have the opportunity to eat outside on either the deck or sidewalk. Or, if you wish, you can dine inside, if you do, it feels like you are in the dining room of a very welcoming home. To get to your seats you will have to pass by the display case where there are multiple pastries on display that will undoubtedly temp you to ruin your meal. Once I got to the table my friends were at I had a menu in hand and was looking it over. There were tons of recommendations from everyone at the table, especially since they have come before. I kept going back and forth on a few items, while I was still mulling it over I did place my drink order. I wanted sweet tea, when I had asked, they told me they don't have it on the menu, but they could put some simple syrup in their iced tea. That worked just fine for me, didn't taste too bad either. I also asked for some water. I finally decided on what to get and I went with the Sausage Gravy. This was so delicious that it had me nearly licking my plate. Not sure how they make their gravy, but it was very tasty and made me want more. But I don't think that this should be overshadowing the base of the plate. That buttermilk biscuit situated underneath it all. With each bite I took, I made sure that scooped up more and more of that gravy. making sure each bite almost was covered in it. What I liked most about it was the size of the chucks of sausage within the gravy. This is a comfort food and it definitely brought me comfort. It made me sleepy and that wasn't so bad since I just had to go back right next door.

Local hot sauce. Not too hot, great flavor.

Delicious & different. Friendly, hospitable staff. Very personable server. A must for breakfast or brunch.

Breakfast burrito with scrap & eggs - meh! Perhaps sausages would be better.

Very popular restaurant! We waited almost an hour for a table! My chicken salad with bacon on a croissant was delicious! Will definitely order again! My friend's breakfast burrito with scrap & eggs was unfortunately not so good. We both ordered cold brew coffee and liked it! There is a nice bayside beach and marina nearby. Lovely!

I will have to come back to try out the food as it seems this location gets high marks. But as for the smoothies, I would pass. They're very very sweet, more ice and fruit mixed with not a whole lot of flavor.

The Dewey Post needs more shoutouts on here! When looking for places to eat, my friends and I were surprised this place only had 30 some reviews. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating, so you'll mostly likely have to wait 30-45 minutes before being seated. Of you have the time, it's worth the wait. Their drink and food menus are super fun and diverse. Their chicken biscuits were a favorite amongst our group. We did have to wait a while for our food (-20/30 minutes after ordering), but it just gave us a greater appreciation once we got it.

Everything was so delicious!

Totally cute and so very delicious! We headed to the Dewey Post because it was close and cute. We are going back today because it was the best breakfast we had on our trip... by far! We had four amazing meals. The three egg breakfast was highlight by its super yummy sausage, well seasoned potatoes, and fresh fruit. The apple french toast was probably the favorite among all of us. The ice cream made the dish... take my ten year old's advice and order a side of bacon!!! I had the eggs benedict and a peach Bellini. Oh, I almost forgot... fresh squeezed OJ was a huge hit! We were fortunate enough to have Ava as our server. She was kind and gracious, prompt and made great recommendations... and always had a smile : ) Enjoy!

The syrup and waffles with fruit were great, and the service was top-notch. I recommend this place for breakfast or brunch.

Introduction on Dewey Beach trip:…read more Representing 2023, W is for Woody's. In September 2023, I was on a group beach trip at a house in Dewey Beach a close walk to Woody's. I stayed for 3 nights. The timing of this trip ended up being good for three reasons: 1. Three weeks earlier I had surgery for cancer on Tuesday, 8/15/23. I was not aloud to go in pool, beach, or bathtub for exactly 3 weeks. My community pool's last day for the season was Labor Day Monday, 9/4/23 (2 weeks 6 days after my surgery), which kind of sucked because that kissed going to my community pool the rest of the season or any other pool parties. About a week earlier, my friend convinced me to go on the trip saying there was availability in the house during the Monday to Friday part. Ultimately, I decided to take off work on that Tuesday and worked from the house on Wednesday, but I had a great time on the trip that I decided to extend to Thursday doing the same working at the house. And I was able to fully enjoy the beach on Tuesday, 9/5 exactly 3 weeks later with no issues. As well as the other 2 days to lesser extent as I had work too. 2. DC/Maryland was experiencing an intense September heat wave with temperatures in the upper 90's; so it was great timing to escape to the beach where temps there were still pretty hot as high as low 90's. 3. Most importantly, I met my girlfriend of now 2 years on this trip! We were friends for several months, but then dating started in February 2024. Experience with Woody's: If I hadn't extended my trip into Thursday, I wouldn't have tried Woody's. I was tired of leftovers after Tuesday & Wednesday night; I decided to go to Woody's for dinner. I called in the order, walked over didn't have to wait long, and took back. Friends looked a little jealous. I got the crab cake sandwich with fries. It was an amazing crab cake with great fries. It certainly wasn't a cheap dinner, but it was worth it for a good amount of crab cake with a high quality.

Sat relatively fast and our server (forget his name) gave us a heads up that the kitchen was behind. We ordered then expecting to wait but the food came out very fast. Everyones meals were excellent, from the pork belly appetizer, burgers, seared fish sandwich, huuge hot dog, and nachos. Our server was very attentive and got us everything we needed quickly. Overall a very good experience and would go again when in town.

I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Perhaps it was an off day for the staff and this wasn't a typical experience, but I won't go back.

When we got there, several people were waiting for tables but we were able to walk on by since we had the res. When we sat down we learned it was restaurant week! My bf got the carpaccio (also delish). For our main course I got the branzino. It was topped w fennel and carrot and it tasted so good w the fish. My bf got the fried chicken and he enjoyed it. We both loved our desserts. I got the strawberry - yum!! And he got the blueberry bread pudding. I had several tastes of his and I wasn't sure which dessert I liked more. Def need to come back!! After many a weekend spent and many a restaurant tried we welcomed new eats at The Blue Hen. This menu is intriguing- small, tight but inventive- we were so excited to eat here! Was wonderful in having a table ready when we arrived for at-will, no reserve seating at about 7pm. Quiet corner. Promptly greeted by our server. She was gracious, so nice, and helpful our whole dining time. We ordered readily, in Mom's overwhelming hunger, lolol. Ordered the Lobster Toast and the Yellow Tomato Gazpacho, as starters. Amazingly accommodating on our order of this gorgeous gazpacho. We were given 2 bowls to split this tomato beauty. A few spoons of smooth & sweet, acidic, flavorful, gripping. Could have ordered more! The Lobster Toast- Accompanied by a concoction of radish, sesame, bitter-sweet....stunning bites in this salad. Unfamiliar but pronounced in the combination. Well done. The lobster- Absent. Wished for an open faced variety. Or at least a dish that advocates for lobster. Charge more. Bigger brioche. Pronounce those beautiful lobster bites in presentation. The lobster as served, was not the star. Ok, a moment for cocktails though- Whoa. Killer kill. The Church Girl Martini. Blessed be in evil, haha This Girl was too tasty in being that strong. So good in flavor, unbeknownst combos. A definite Watch Yourself and watch out for!! Entrees.....well when ordering was told the Sea Bream was out- disappointed on that. The entree menu is small, so should keep available. And when we entered the restaurant it was busier after we sat....so why out of a primary fish already?? So decided ahead- Mom had the Burger and I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. The burger- smashed, but still big patties. A perfect medium. Good overall. The bacon jam was an ask on the side. The bacons were really spicy lardons and were delicious. My crab cake sandwich. Hmmm. You are a sandwich. For the pricing, it's not there. Ate the Lumps, but the rest of the sandwich should I say was in the Dumps? Nothing to be said of standout. Would recommend putting this crab cake as a stand alone entree with accompaniment. Forget the bun. Overall food gets a 3.75. Drinks, environment and service a 4. The Blue Hen is not Spent. But also is not the Top Chicken.

We had to wait a while but there was plenty of seating outside which was better than some of the places we ate. We got lucky and were seated at a table at the railing overlooking the street. It's always interesting to people watch. While our waitress was attentive - she was too much so. Our food took forever to come out and she kept checking in and asking if we needed anything. The only thing we needed was our food - and maybe an ETA on when it might arrive. Fortunately, we did have our cell phones and the people on the street to keep us entertained. Also, the sea gulls are VERY aggressive and we watched one eat some leftover food off the table next to us. So I had limited options on the menu (Healthy) and ended up getting the steak salad. Hubby got the burger. Neither should have taken that long to prepare but we were told the kitchen was backed up. My salad was very good with a very generous amount of steak on it. And the steak was perfectly done - still a bit red inside. I would have liked it really red but I know they can't do rare. SO I was just happy to have the red I did. And while it was chewy as heck, it had good flavor and I didn't expect it to melt in my mouth. I would totally order this meal again. Hubby was underwhelmed with the burger. It was rather sad and small looking. But in the grand scheme of things, it was fine - but just OK. I'm guessing he would not order it again. We got our check and paid in decent time once we finished eating. Overall I think the location and ambiance made up for the poor service (food taking way too long) and sad meal for the hubby. Also, the pricing was not insane as we encountered elsewhere which also made it quite acceptable. I would lightly recommend if location matters more than service food.
