ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT! Decent spot but don't start a tab and pay cash. I've worked in service for years and to say anything other than this place was horrendous would be an injustice to all other bad restaurants. It put a shame to anyone who has ever worked in service. The bartender put three drinks on my tab that were not mine. I asked her to take them off and she told me to "take it up with the guy who put them on it". Thankfully was resolved after asking four different people who I could talk to. I assumed it was a simple mistake of putting others on my tab, but lack of accountability bar-wide (multiple staff refused to get me a manager until I threatened credit card resolution) is not the way I pictured my night going. A simple "sorry about that, let me get my manager to sort that out" would have sufficed. Now I am inclined to believe the other reviews that this place pads tabs and takes money from unsuspecting patrons. Overall joke of a bar staff wise (0-stars), but music and venue is decent (3-4 stars depending on time of year); so two stars. read more

Servers and staff were amazing and incredibly welcoming. The reason for the 2-star review is our experience with the manager. It was 80 degrees outside, and since no one was using any of the fire pit seating areas, we turned off the fire pit at our table. The manager came over and told us, "if you don't want the fire on don't f**** sit here" despite the fact that no one else was seated at the seat urself fire pits (bc of the hot weather) and we all had purchased drinks. To be clear, this has nothing to do with the servers or other staff members, who provided excellent service throughout our visit. However, the manager's approach and attitude left a negative impression and completely changed our experience. read more

I love this place and have been twice now in umm 30 years. Haha. I never go to Dewey beach to party, but I had to bring my friend over to introduce him to Saturday Dewey beach summer silliness. Besides Starboard and rusty rudder, this is a great place to go. On the bay so you have beautiful bay sunset views, indoor - outdoor space with soft sand and a good dance floor. Loved the surfboards hanging off the ceiling. But. The DJ sucked!!!! The music was so bad. It was like really bad 90's 00's music. Like seriously why was he playing the theme song to The hills. Or laguna beach or whatever. So much bad music choices, and no good transition from bad song to bad song. Ugh. That was the only problem with this place and made dancing super lame after a bit so we left and went back home to keep the dance flow going on the the beach with our good tunes and good vibes read more

I gave this place 2 stars because it has a lot of promise. If I was the owner I would take a long hard look at who you employ. I was there on 8/12 and hung out at the bar adjacent to the fire pit outside. The bar was being tended by a man, who claims he was the manager, and a female who is supposedly his best friend. To put it nice she wasn't very good at her job. Her attention to detail and hospitality were poor. I hope she gets good grades because bartending may not be a "career" gig for her. She was just your typical snot bartender who couldn't be bothered. Can't say I will be back. The Rudder and Starboard have better entertainment. By the way the pizza is nothing short of pita bread with ketchup. Pass on that. read more

0 stars!!!!! Do not recommend!!! Tried to dine with our teenagers today for lunch. The host said it was adults only, but we could ask the manager if we could make an exception. The manager rudely approached us, made a snarky comment about its for adults only, and walked away. Meanwhile, a table with about 4 children were already seated and eating. We left and decided not to spend our money after the unprofessional and rude attitude shown by the manager...which the host then said was the owner as we walked out. This is a great restaurant...it's on the bay, lots of sand, laid back atmosphere, beachy. The drinks are tasty. Check out the 'crush' bar or try a Dewey Devil frozen drink (rule of thumb is no more than 2!) There is generally live music or at least a DJ. On Sunday's they have a live band from 1 - 4:30pm and then a fun acoustic duo from 5 - 9pm. I enjoy sitting at a table on the sand with my friends here and enjoy the atmosphere and music. I'll also mention it is nice to go here for the sunset. My only complaint is that the drink prices are outrageous! Some examples: 1 bottle of Corona $6.50, 1 can of Red bull (no alcohol) $7.50, Red bull and vodka $10, Grey goose and soda $9.50. Good for groups. Kids can play in the sand. No wi fi. So, this place is a ton of fun. We were here on Sunday, and they have so many super cute floaties all over the place. The staff is also very friendly and the grapefruit crushes are pretty tasty. You also have a beautiful view of the water, along with a fire pit etc. it definitely gets crowded on Saturday nights, and so if you prefer a bit more peace and quiet, Sunday is the way to go. read more

Let me first start by saying this rating is solely based on our very humble experience last night! 8/1/18! We have never been to this place before but wanted to chill somewhere on the water and have some drinks in the sand and play some cornhole. The parking lot was horrible and needed grating. Like horrible, could have lost a car in the pot holes. Inside (well outside) the bar area and lounging area needed to be clean up...ALOT. We played cornhole at the far end and there were still bar towels in the sand. From like when?!?! It's 7pm... The bar at that end was closed and everything at that end looked abandoned. There were more bar towels discarded inside on the dance floor area. The troubling part is no one cared. There were maybe 3 employees visable. There were maybe 10 customers (not including our 4some). So the REAL TALK IS! The bearded Bartender was awesome. Really cool Guy. Made the place a cool place to be for a while. Super friendly. The only reason for 4 stars. We would only go back for him. Otherwise 2 Stars. Liquor and cornhole can happen anywhere. Btw the cornhole boards were busted and the bags were shottttt! It's mid summer. Get your shit together. We still had fun...but for the record if we got to the bar in the future and the bearded guy wasn't there ! read more

What a dump. Yes it has a great view of the bay, but the owner hasn't put a cent into the place for years. This summer they are charging $7 for beers, overly loud and lousy music, and crappy food. It's so sad because this place could be so much nicer. Won't be back this year. read more

Wow I guess I am missing something. Found this place on Google and it was marked Open. Wow, looks like the nuclear disaster was declared. It appeared to be abandoned. Chairs and barstools were laying all over the place. There were rusted Ultra unopened cans on the bar. The ice bins in the bar were all rusting. If the place is still open, dont get a drink with ice. Awesome beach bar with great drinks. It surprised me that they literally crushed an orange to make the orange crush (as other bars may just resort to store-bough OJ). Great music, friendly staff. There's a 6-way beer pong table that I was tempted to try but I didn't stay there very long. On Fridays, 4-6pm, there's free tacos! There was also a pig roasting (named Ben, poor Ben), really nailing the beach luau vibe. read more

Nothing great to report, but the fried fish sandwich is huge and tastes good. Unlike other places where you bite into a huge fish sandwich that looks like leather, this is actually real, fresh and cooked just right. Flaky on the inside and served on a tasty roll. If you are heading down to the shore, stop by for the food and a view of the bay. read more

Fun bar with average food. There's no cover, they have cornhole, water pong and a DJ, and most of this bar is on sand. If you look at the food prices on the menu, theres no way the food could be fresh, it would have to be frozen. Regardless, I got the taco trio, which had a carnitas, a short rib and a chicken taco. Came here on a Friday night and danced all night! FUN, fun, fun! There was no charge to get in. You walk in and it feels very tropical since there is sand at the bar. Wear flip-flops or sandals. There are plenty of places to sit, take in the scene to the right or left of the main dance area. The bars are outdoors with tiki-tops or like a tent or something. They are situated next to the bay so you can see the view of the water which is awesome. So you can either dance on crowded dance floor, or sit and chill by the side by the bay. There was a live cover band from Boston and they were great, awesome energy. All my friends were dancing. The place looks small on the outside, but its really big. Make sure you have an area to meet your friends, otherwise it can become tough to find one another. If you've ever been to Seacrets at OC, it has that same feel, but way smaller and less overwhelming. Can't wait to go back!! read more

The food here isn't spectacular. But what do you expect at a beach? I would recommend the calamari. It was my favorite thing of all the things I ordered. My crab cake sandwich was mediocre. The crab cake was crunchy but somewhat tasteless. I sprinkled a bunch of Old Bay and cocktail sauce on it. The fish was decent. Not saluted or spiced up or anything so you may wanna ask for a bunch of sauces. But the size is large! The best thing to get here would be Grapefruit Crushes. The service is really slow and there weren't many people seated for food. Most people were there for drinks at the bar. But you are seated on a bed of sand so it was like eating on the beach on the water. The place is usually filled with drunk people so I wouldn't go here for a nice quiet meal. read more

This place definitely draws a younger crowd but is tons of fun!!! The outdoor beach bars make for the perfect place to watch the sunset! The bartenders are friendly and attentive. People have a lot to say about this place but for us girls celebrating at a bachelorette party, it was a great hang out for us for a few hours. We came here on a Saturday around, maybe 2 pm and were ready to get our drink on. This place was hidden away down a random street off the main drag right on the water. There were two outdoor bars and one inside as well. The place had sneakers hanging from the ceiling. It was divey, dumpy if you will, but not gross, I mean, we liked it. They were serving spiked seltzers so I was happy as a clam. There was a group of rowdy guys at the one outdoor bar doing shots and buckets of beer and the bachelor party thing, us girls went to the other outdoor bar and ordered some drinks and took a seat at their picnic table. We pulled out some cards and played some silly drinking games for about an hour and a half while we enjoyed the beautiful day. We sat right across from the. bar so it was a quick walk to get refills. The bartender was a cutie and bought us all a round of drinks for the bachelorette celebration. We had a pretty view of the water and noticed a fire pit outside that would probably be really nice at night. Inside was more divey, lots of standing room, few places to sit. They had an insane, 6-8 person beer pong table set up, which I thought was so cool! I had never seen this before, cool idea for a bunch of people. Not sure how this place gets at night but from 2-4 it was super chill and relaxing, didn't get any food so I can't speak to that but for some cocktails and pretty views this place did the trick for us. read more

However, Northbeach Restaurant had a great view of the bay and the location was walking distance from the place we were staying. It was a Friday night and they had live music. I believe the band name was 3amTokyo. The band played many different genres of music and those guys are super talented. We had a great time there and I would definitely go back there if I visit Dewey beach Again. read more

Came here with a Bach party of 15 girls on a Saturday night with high hopes - bar only, no dinner. While the location is awesome, one of the bartenders narrowly missed ruining the entire evening by really slapping one of the girls' hand after she waited for a drink for 20 minutes and watched him serve guys all around her with free shots. She calmly confronted him about it and not only did he refuse to apologize, he went so far as to say he didn't need our business and mocked us. A few of us tried to ask for a manager and were told we would just have to call the next day to make a complaint. I understand that in a town like Dewey there is a revolving door of visitors and tourists to deal with (including us) but I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would gladly take the jobs of the ponytailed asshat and other bored/unhelpful staff that we had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting. Go to Bottle & Cork instead for (much better) live music and a really fun authentic Dewey crowd. read more

Gordon Ramsay would have had a heart attack. This place has gone down hill big time. We did a big family dinner two years ago, and everything was great. We stopped in last year, and it was still above average. On this visit over this past weekend....we've entered the "Never Again" category. Beer: It was warm. Food: They took off the tuna sandwiches, which used to be decent. So, we ordered crab cake sandwiches, onion rings, french fries, and one of our little guests had chicken tenders. The crab cakes were AWFUL. I did in fact see crab in them, but they were small and mostly filler - and filler that taste like they dragged it across the sand before bringing it to us. The french fries looked like they went to the grocery store, cooked frozen fries in the oven a week ago, stuck them in the fridge, and then just warmed them in the microwave. The $9 onion rings were a greasy mess. And, the chicken tenders would have been fine if they listed them on the menu as "Chicken Jerky." Toes in the Sand: Me thinks not. The sand was full of broken beer bottles, and the fence had rusty metal straps hanging off of them. The Liberty Mutual guy would also have had a heart attack. Servers: One of the servers looked like the G.M. of the place knew they were going to be short handed, and just grabbed someone from the gym to come wait tables for the evening. The sneakers I get, but Nike gym shorts and an old t-shirt, really? He was a sloppy mess. Our server wasn't as bad, but I did ask him if he actually worked there when he came to the table. And finally, when I informed the server of all of the above, in a very diplomatic manner, he said sorry and handed me the bill. Lucky for him 15% tip is my floor for even crap. read more

After paying a $10 cover we tried to purchase a pizza which could ONLY be purchased with cash ( which I find odd from a bar/restaurant that takes card at the door and for the bar... but not for pizza, regardless) we only had $5 cash. They don't accept card or venmo or Apple Pay only cash... So I asked the server (blonde haired girl with black rimmed glasses) if we can negotiate and we can get pizza for the $5 ( maybe she'd cut us a deal and say sure just buy an extra drink at the bar or, she could have said I'll give u a slice or half or really anything other than her response which was, "No Bitch! We are running a business." A simple No. would have sufficed... and to her point I thought I out to share my horrible and disrespectful experience. They have a right to run their business in that manner and I as the customer who was inappropriately treated feel like I have an obligation to share it. It was foul language and super inappropriate and uncalled for. I would steer clear of this place and go elsewhere there are better businesses that operate in a more appropriate manner than this and are more fun with better music and views.(keep in mind an hour before we arrived they were giving the pizza away for free as a promo...) Not impressed to say the least and just hope someone else is able to avoid this place and doesn't have to deal with disrespectful and shocking customer service like that. I'm a huge fan of Northbeach, especially on Sunday afternoons. You can order great seafood and sit outside on the bay, take your shoes off and put your feet in the sand. It's very relaxing and laid back. There is live music or a DJ and the beers aren't too expensive. read more

I only gave this one star because zero stars wasn't an option. We went here to celebrate my daughter's 25th birthday. When it was time to go home, I attempted to order an Uber to drive us home. The bouncers asked us to leave, and I explained what I was doing, and that was fine -- until the owner ORDERED them to physically remove my 50+ year old self from the premises. Then the otherwise nice bouncers reluctantly put their hands one to physically force me to move, despite me telling them that I was gong to leave after I ordered the car. The owner called me a bitch. This place was great until the owner felt the need to wait one less minute to not be an asshole. They will never get another penny from me, and we're here year round. What a jerk. read more

We just "ate" at Northbeach this evening. Ok so I want to be fair - amazing vibe and atmosphere bayside. Great DJ!!! But I couldn't believe that our waitress and the bartenders were doing shots continuously. Our food was delayed but they comped our tab so that was cool of them. But I'm sorry, I expect the waitstaff to be sober or at least not wasted. Tacos were great! So sad that this restaurant has such an amazing view and atmosphere and the servers are literally tripping and stumbling drunk. I would LOVE to come back (we come to DEWEY every year) but was embarrassed by the staff. Not sure why bar tenders and waitresses can continuously do shots and keep this establishment in business. They advertise they roast a pig every day so we went for pulled pork sandwich. It was good, tender, fresh with tomato-based BBQ sauce. Not a fancy meal - chips, pickle, bricohe roll- but tasty. The waitstaff was attentive. The iced tea not so great. Note to self: inquire as to whether iced-tea is brewed before ordering. We stayed and listened to a singer until 9, no cover. Weekends may be a different story but during the week it's a pleasant place to eat with reasonable food. read more

Be aware of being double charged! This was our first time visiting Northbeach in Dewey and we came with a large party and everything was great while we were there. The manager "bought" us our first round of shots upon arrival and overall we had a lot of fun. However, we were asked by the bartender to each start our own tab, and as a bartender myself I completely understand why that's necessary, but when I went to close my tab I was informed by the bartender that it was already paid for by one of my friends. I asked all my friends, figured out who paid it and asked him how much the tab was which he replied THE EXACT amount I got charged a few days later anyways!!! So upon further investigation from some people I know that work in Dewey I have found that Northbeach has had a history of padding on checks (charging people more for drinks and etc. without giving customers copies of their receipts) adding more tips and ripping people off in very sketchy ways. I just want people to be aware before going there that you know how much your tab is and the charges made to your account after going there. read more

The plan was to spend the day on the beach. We made it as far as the corner table in the sand in front of the stage...and never left. The Dewey Devils were refreshing and delicious with bacardi 151 and an extra shot on top, plus whipped cream! Whats not to love! We also ordered crab dip which we should have skipped only because we were sitting in the sun, and we should have ordered something cold.
