First time trying this place and I will have to give it another go the next time I'm in town. Especially during a time when there isn't live music. Not a diss to the live music, but because there won't be a communication barrier. I find it funny that they give you a menu when they seat you, but all you have to do is look up. The menu adorns the ceiling and definitely gives you a reason to be distracted. Be sure to ask what the market rate is on the items that state this. It can be a bit much, and will guide you in making a choice. I went with a classic cheeseburger...by mistake. Why by mistake you ask. That communication barrier because of the live music came into play. I said what I wanted, and could not hear the next part. I am assuming that I was asked how I want it prepared. I said medium. But what probably actually happened was she had asked how I wanted it cooked and what I wanted it topped with. When the cheeseburger showed up, it was plain as plain could be. If I was able to hear I would have gotten lettuce, onion and pickle. I was able to ask for some mustard. Ketchup was already on the table. It tasted a bit bland, but that was mostly my fault. Fresh cut fries were the perfect pairing. Easy cleanup here too. read more

While waiting to be recognized, and be given a menus, we were just about to leave when we were given those menus. The weather as perfect on the deck ( and quieter) we ordered the "voted best chicken in Delaware " two pieces for the spouse and four for me . sides were shore fries and coleslaw for the spouse I got the Mac and cheese and the cucumber salad for me. Chicken was so so and sides were fair, cucumber salad was excellent though. Two mixed drinks, both were good. $48.00 plus tip If nothing else was open we would return, but not a must do or a special trip. read more

Sat in the restaurant for an hour after getting one drink at the bar. Multiple waiters and never had one come up and ask me if I needed anything else or another drink or food. For a serviceable meal and even better live music, Jimmy's is a decent place to go. I came mostly for the live tunes--the food was more of an afterthought. That's not to say it's bad. But best fried chicken in Delaware (as their sign claims)? I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. It would have helped if they had served it piping hot rather than just above lukewarm. But the seasoning and crispness were on point. In any case, the staff were friendly, and I like the fact that Jimmy's offers indoor and outdoor seating (the live music can make it hard to hear your dining companions inside). The only real negative was the orange crush--it tasted watered-down and noncommittal. My friends and family had the same reaction to it. My group of friends and I tried this location because of the live band and the fun atmosphere it presented along the Main Street in Dewey beach. Those ended up being the only positives of the restaurant. The service was terribly and painfully slow. I hate to criticize service right now because I know restaurants are struggling to hire, but we had really long waits for both drink and food service, and many of the tables with equal amounts of people were served before us. The food portions are terrible. A few of us ordered the chicken tenders since this restaurant boasted about their chicken. It was pathetic to be honest. A $12 chicken finger basket came with 4 really small chicken fingers that wouldve passed more for chicken nuggets and didn't come with fries. One can of lemon shandy beer was $10. They make it very apparent that they're taking advantage of tourists and don't put any effort into the quality of the experience. I would go elsewhere at Dewey beach for dinner and drinks. read more

Another cool afternoon party bar. It's a giant open air tiki and pretty loud. Live music was really good acoustic covers. Drinks were creative and yummy and relatively inexpensive at $10. I had the blueberry lemonade and it was a perfect mix with muddled blueberries and a lemon garnish. Pretty. There were no taps for draft beers and bottles were pretty steep. Jimmy's was fun! We arrived early in the evening (5-6) and the venue was not very packed so we were able to get a table right away. There was some mellow and melancholy live acoustic guitar in the background, which added to the ambiance. I was impressed with the food. My expectations were not particularly high (given that Dewey Beach as a community is not known for its cuisine), and my order (crab cake & fried chicken combo) easily surpassed them. The chicken was solid: juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside such that the skin held in the heat and moisture without becoming soggy. The crab cake was outstanding: large, meaty, and well flavored. This was among the best crab cakes I've had (especially given its cost). The entrée came with two sides: I ordered the corn on the cob and fries, both of which were fine (i.e., good, but not remarkably so). Walking in- The southern-like atmosphere pretty much defined the personality for this place. The margaritas however were not evenly proportioned, which I think is very important especially in this type of restaurant. Service- The food came out in good time and the waitress was very nice. Meal- The pork BBQ ribs were delicious, but the mac n cheese was not very good, and mac n cheese is one of my favorite foods. The beyond burger was really good, but the crab cake sandwich was a bit fishy and just okay. Went there last night. Service was terrible. It was not busy at all!! Just to let you know. Server left menu but never asked if we wanted to start with a drink while looking at the menu. She came back to take our drink order and told her we were ready to order since it was around 10 min before she came back. Ordered our food. The food was okay. Chicken was decent had Mac and cheese which was like a puree. There was no noodle just mush and no taste. Server never return until we flagged her down to get our bill but saw her socializing and doing shots with friends. Asked for our check when she was about to leave it, we stopped her and gave her our credit card because we knew if we did pay right away she would take forever to be back. I would just go for a drink at the bar bypass the food and sitting at a table next time. Never really been there but been plenty of places in Dewey the last 30 years and will not eat there again. I haven't been writing many reviews this year, but I have to chime in here...I am astounded by all the negative reviews. We had an absolute ball here over the weekend. In fact, for as many times as I've come to Dewey, I have never stopped here but have always been drawn in by the lights and fun American vibe. Last night I even said to my husband, "I can't believe it took us this long to get here!!" We came to see Derek Petaccio perform. He's incredible and if you have a chance, come see him! He's got a few dates booked at Jimmy's. Anyway, we were greeted by a bouncer who told us of their no-standing policy, so we actually shacked up with another couple just to be able to see the performance, which was our main reason for the visit. It was super cool, not weird it at all, and the tables are really big, so you're not really "together, together" if you don't want to be. We still felt like we were on a romantic date, just a little table space being shared. (The couple soon left and we had the space to ourselves). It really want a huge deal, try to be open-minded or get there early enough if you're trying to see a certain act. We ordered orange creamsicle crushes from their list of really neat crush flavors. It was delish!! If you're not familiar, crush is a drunk indigenous to the DELMARVA region, and a must try, at least once. We munched on fried chicken nachos (chicken on the side). Hubs said the chicken was really great! That's what they're known for! The multi-colored nachos were smothered in fresh pico, queso fresco, and jalapeños. Yum! We also got a basket of you peel them shrimp. They were piping hot and decent-sized. We stayed for hours and really enjoyed ourselves. I left wanting a return visit and will definitely be making one! Sure, it's a tad pricey, but it was all solid. We parked no issue on the side street, and the bar hopped between here and Bottle & Cork right next door. It was a perfect evening. I realize it was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend but the service was terrible. The floor seemed to be completely unprepared. We were seated after standing in front hostess stand and interrupting their conversation. It took 8 minutes before a server came to the table. The food was average for the expensive price. A group of 6 came in and were there for about 10 minutes and then went to bar to ask for service. They waited another few minutes and left. Bartenders were slow. It's very expensive ($7.50) for a Mich Ultra. I had been there a few weeks ago and it was $6.50. They don't list prices of drinks on menu which allows them to play with the pricing. What a mistake. Went for lunch on Friday. No waitstaff so we ordered at the bar. My daughter enjoyed a crabcake sandwich at Jimmies some 10 years ago. So, we ordered 3 carbcake sandwiches that came with fries, one water, one soft drink and a mixed drink. Crabcakes were " market price" so didn't know the damage until the bill came.. $110.00 As a topper the food sucked. My fault for hanging in there and not asking (shouting as the place was loud) what the "market price" actually was. Bye Bye Jimmies... A big middle finger to you. read more

Stopped in here for lunch yesterday and I'd say it's pretty much what you would expect of a beach dive bar type of place. The atmosphere is cool and has the beach outdoor vide. The service was good and there was no wait. I was expecting the drinks to be good but they weren't great, just average. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and the crab cake was about half the size of the bun but it was pretty good, filled with nice sized chunks of crab meat. The pile of fries was a bit overwhelming but presumably compensating for the small sandwich. read more

In case you don't feel like reading, in short, they're racist here. Either the security staff or ownership. But either way, straight up racist. (Wait staff was great, no complaints) Only giving one star because I have to in order to leave a review. My two brothers and our friend were at Jimmy's this past weekend. We went in during the day, each had two drinks, paid our tab and left, pretty quick transaction in all honesty. Bought one drink at the bar, and another round at the table with a waitress. She was pleasant, took care of us and we were on our way. I even bought 4 of their charity "clause crawl" shirts. A few hours later our same group of 4 left starboard and headed down the road figuring we'd stop back in Jimmy's for another drink. We approach the bouncer at the front and are told by him that he has been notified that he can't let us in. I'm taken aback, we weren't yelling or disruptive, nor were we belligerently drunk. We walked down the street the same as anyone else that was out that night. The bouncers supervisor was standing there, essentially said "it's my call and I say no." Now I can understand, most people denied entry to a bar/club within reason don't deserve an answer, but in our case I felt differently. My youngest brother noticed the supervisor has some sort of veteran tattoo and explained to him in less than pleasant words that 3/4 of us are also in fact veterans. The only reasoning we could gather for being denied access is that we were a group made up of black and Hispanic men. While the bouncer was also himself black, I don't think that mattered, I'm sure that's the businesses defense for not being racist but I can almost assure you that's what the issue was. It's sad that in 2022 that we had to experience that but I guess that is what it is. I'll never set foot in that place again as long as I live, which is unfortunate because like I said I think the wait staff was really pleasant but I can't help but feel this place is inherently racist either at the top or in the security staff. Had to practically beg to get a table instead of them doing there job and trying to accommodate us and be helpful .. they preferred to just be rude , whisper to each other , and then we had to suggest how to make it work so we can get a table finally to get a nasty drink . Nice enough place. VERY limited beer selection. And....if you get a beer, be prepared to over pay. $8.50 for a Corona? You don't necessarily expect bargains when you're in a tourist heavy area, but damn. Alright, I upgraded from 2 to 3. We got takeout because my stepson wanted to try the fried chicken. Kinda felt bad leaving a bad review but so many others seemed to have issues with the waitstaff so I know im not alone...it takes so much for me to complain about service industry employees because I know its a hard job! But our waitress Tuesday was awful, and I wouldn't say that if it was just over mistakes, mistakes happen, but it was her literally being miserable and rude that was the worst. Forgot my drink, no problem. Been out to eat thousands of times, forgotten drinks happen, but she charged me for both...again, literally not a problem, simple mistake, but then there was no chicken on the CHICKEN nachos...let her know and said no big deal, just change it on tab to regular nachos without the $6 add on for meat, never took it off the bill. Forgot our sides, messed up one of our meals, and again, all of this honestly wouldn't even be a big deal and it wouldn't cross my mind to leave a review even with all the mistakes if she acted like she cared, smiled once, or rectified them. Instead we paid $80 before tip for food and drinks that we didn't even get, but I didn't feel like waiting another 20 minutes until she came around again (we were the only table there) to ask for it to be changed (again.) never again lol. I've come twice now and the best part is by far the love music. The drinks and food are okay. I had a burger and it was fine, nothing to write home about.
