Good food and better drinks. Service was great. The building is small but we were able to get a table no problem.

We have not been here in awhile. I still had one of their gift cards so we decided to eat here on Cinco De Mayo, because as I mentioned they always decorate the restaurant for every holiday. We waited about 15 minutes for the last table 41 on the right nearest to the bar to become available. I started with my two margaritas with salt for $7 each. The ambient noise here is very loud when it is this crowded. I also enjoyed my chicken and chorizo poblano skillet with chicken tingo, chorizo, poblanos and onions over Spanish rice with queso and cilantro-lime crema served with a guac salad and tortillas for $23. It was served on a hot cast iron skillet. When served my dish looked different from what was on their website. It looks like they topped the dish with queso and cilantro crema. I would have preferred what was on their website without the queso and cilantro crema on top. There might be a disconnect between the website and the kitchen. Anyway my dish was different from the normal. There was a lot of food to eat. I ate half and also took half of the skillet, the guac salad and tortillas home for my late night snack and tomorrow's lunch. Arissa served us very well. Our total bill was $77 excluding gratuity. My gift card had $51.50 remaining so I applied my credit card for my $25.50 balance due.

I didn't care much about it but that was rude. Here's the real issue. I ordered Cobb salad and grilled chicken. The chicken was gray, dry and bland. There was hardly any dressing, either. Usually this restaurant would get 3 stars for food, 4 for service and 4 for atmosphere. Not tonight.

Review for Heidaway - Bethany Beach, DE…read more It was the weekend after Memorial Day 2025--when the beach is still buzzing, but you can actually find parking and order a drink without elbowing someone in a straw hat. We rolled into Bethany Beach to kick off our summer, minus the chaos, and Heidaway was the first place that pulled us in with a wink and a steel drum beat. Right on the edge of the boardwalk, this place has big tropical energy. Think Key West meets Delaware--palm fronds, sea breeze, and the gentle background hum of fun. The outdoor seating is shaded but still breezy, like Mother Nature knows you want SPF without sweating through your shirt. And the music? Bright, beachy, and setting the scene for "yes, we are on vacation, thank you." Service? On point. From the friendly hostess to our magical waitress who somehow knew when we needed napkins, another round, or just a smile--everyone brought their A-game. No tourist trap vibes here. Just good, solid hospitality. Cocktails: We kicked off with a Moscow Mule, chilled in a classic copper mug and strong enough to make you forget your group chat's been blowing up since Tuesday. Spicy, refreshing, and just boozy enough to remind you you're off the clock. And the second drink? Let's call it the Mystery Mai Tai of Joy. We don't remember what was in it. We just know it was tropical, delicious, and made us say "we should move here" at least twice. The Food: Oysters Rockefeller - Baked to perfection, smothered in a creamy, herby sauce and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. The kind of dish that makes you lean back in your chair and toss your plate at a fireplace (if they had one) Lobster Roll & Fries - A buttery masterpiece. Generous chunks of lobster, golden toasted roll, and fries that nailed the crispy-soft ratio. They didn't hold back with the portions, and we didn't hold back either. Beet Salad - A beachy surprise hit. Sweet roasted beets, creamy goat cheese spread, and peppery arugula doing a power pose on the plate. It made us feel like we were balancing out the rest of the meal... even if dessert was already a foregone conclusion. If you're heading to Bethany and want to dodge the madness while still soaking up summer magic, Heidaway is a great spot. Come for the drinks, stay for the oysters, and let the ocean breeze convince you that everything is right in the world--even if only until Monday.

I too attended the the March AARP monthly luncheon at Hockers Family Restaurant and I must say that…read morethe meals that were served at our table were scrumptious. We had each of the three St. Patrick's Day offerings (Bangers and Mash, Corned Beef and Cabbage, as well as Fish and Chips) and everyone raved about their meal. Some folks took leftovers home because the serving size was more than enough to eat at one setting. There were 122 people in attendance and the staff worked tirelessly to serve the meals as quickly as possible with the 4 servers that were on duty. In fact, I was seated at the very last table to be served, and we used the wait time to socialize with our tablemates. The food arrived piping hot and was well worth the wait. Speaking with management after the luncheon, we discussed how we wished we could get everyone served a little faster. They agreed. There is good news and bad news about it. The bad news - the restaurant kitchen does not have food warmers, like banquet facilities, so they cannot pre prep hot food. The good news - food is coming out "hot off the grill". Know that the servers will rotate where they start serving each month so that the same table will not be the last one served. All attendees will be served their meal somewhere between 12 and 1. The sound system does have room for improvement, but it is a "wired" system and the wires cannot be placed across the floor to reach the middle of the room (tripping hazard). One contributing factor in people having a difficult time hearing is the number of audience members talking throughout the presentation. Perhaps a greater level of respect shown to the speakers would be helpful. Hockers staff has worked with the AARP organizers making changes as needed. I personally am grateful to the Hockers family for giving us the opportunity to accommodate a much larger audience than in our previous venue. I am looking forward to the upcoming luncheon/meetings and hope that the members exercise a little more patience.

Awful just awful experience today at an AARP monthly luncheon - the one and let me just write this…read moreagain ONE server for 150+ members was ridiculous - meals were ordered in advance so it's a matter of dropping the right meal in front of the right color coded card - another server helped a bit in the end but was tasked with clearing dishes when not everyone was served yet including my table of 8 patiently waiting for their food - I simply could not believe it and my table mates voiced the same concern - another server came out for the dessert delivery but the damage was already done and it's hard to recover after that however it would have been nice if a manager would have gone to the mic, appoligized and promised to be better staffed next time and maybe throw in a gift card for a few bucks to each attendee Bottom line there should have been 8-10 servers all serving food at the same time The sound system needs to be improved with more than 2 speakers and a wireless mic should be added too If this restaurant wants to be a player in the area for hosting large events please regroup and plan for our return before next months meeting Painful just painful
