Shaka Shack is close to Bethany Beach. My friends and I dined while waiting for our rental to open. They offer a bunch of fun sodas and milk shakes, in addition to a variety of American foods. I had their fried chicken taco, which came with a side of hush puppies and apple sauce. Live music and places to sit outside with games to play. There is no table service, you must go to the bar or register to order. The food took a long time to come out. I got the crab cake sandwich and I wish it came with some kind of sauce. The crab cakes were good but also could have used some kind of sauce. Clam strips were really good. I won't be back. The place has potential to be better, but they fell short in several ways. A single bartender in high season for happy hour is a big mistake. Second, the food was awful. The Seashore Grubber sandwich had undercooked bacon and deli turkey meat with a tasteless Ciabatta bun. The cream of crab soup could have better with perhaps some potatoes and corn to give it some texture. The boom boom shrimp was simply fried shrimp with a jar of sweet chili sauce poured on top of it. BUT... the French Fries were EXCELLENT! If they could only put the same effort into other menu items, it would be great. Overall the vibe of the place is good, but they need to step up their game if they want repeat customers. read more

Reasonably priced good food. Haven't gone for happy hour yet, but I think I will try it. I don't normally like the batter-style french fries, but these were nice and thick and pretty good. Just be advised: soft drinks are served in cans, so don't expect free refills. The Polish Water Ice is prepacked and frozen--not fresh served. Came in for a late lunch about 2:00, only customers in the restaurant. The woman at the front gave us menus, and told us to come back up to order. Easy order, two burgers, one with fries. I tipped 15% not realizing I would be getting my own utensils and clearing off the table myself. Probably the worst burger I have ever had. Dry, no seasoning at all, very densely packed meat. She didn't get the order correct, one came with cheese that neither one of us wanted. She pointed where we could get our utensils, napkins, etc. We also bussed our own table. I got a twinny wrap here for takeout lunch with a couple people I work with. The other items in the order were shrimp wraps. I went to pick up the food -- the store is in the same parking lot as Prickly Gal and it's a cute little place. There's nowhere to eat inside, definitely a grab and go kind of place, but there's some tables and whatnot outside if it's a nice day and you want to eat out there. My wrap was pretty good. Fish and shrimp and lettuce and tomato. No sauce or anything, though, so I'm glad I said yes when the girl at the register asked if I wanted some cocktail and tartar sauce. My coworkers also thought their wraps were good, but we all had the same consensus -- although the ingredients seemed fresh and good quality, there was a lack of seasoning and the portions were very small. The staff at Shaka Shack were super friendly and welcoming of my Corgi puppy! Their soft shell crab sandwich was out of this world!

First time trying the food: crab cake, cod loin, flounder, clam strips... all fried and EXCELLENT. The "breading" must have had more corn meal than flour, as none of the dishes were "oily" or "greasy", and even more- they seem to know when the frying oil needs to be changed, as every dish was lightly in color, and every bite of fish was perfectly flaky and not dry. The fish all must have been fresh (which one may expect in a seaside area). To add to this, the flavor of the breading was not the same across the board and complemented each of them beautifully. Last (and not the least), the prices were fair, where 4 adults and one child ate as much as they desired... and even some leftover for about $20 per person. Take it from "seasoned" seafood foodies- this place is worth supporting and will hopefully maintain such standards as their popularity grows. Theres something to learn here, oh other local, only decent and overpriced eateries! read more

Everything is fried here. From the chicken, fish, shrimp, and crab cakes. They even offer bubble tea, all was passable and I mean edible but I wouldn't recommend having this for dinner. Service was terrible. We waited an hour for our food an appetizer of chips and dip and a shrimp wrap. Tables that came in after us got their food way before us. When we asked the bartender he just said they were busy. I get busy but 4 tables that ordered 30 mins after us got their food. No one took ownership that something had gone wrong. Calling this food "mid" would be an overstatement. Everything is pretty flavorless. Seasoning something with salt and pepper is doing the bare minimum, and this place doesn't even do that for a lot of their food. You're better off making something yourself so that you can save money, season your food, and ensure it's at least hot when you get it. read more

Always find myself craving black bean/veggie burgers while on vacation or when spending time at the beach. I am vegan and also tend to stay away from more processed foods so when I crave these things I have high standards! Was so happy when checking online that the black bean burger was labeled vegan, they also have either a beyond or impossible burger (can't remember, I believe it is the beyond) which I appreciate giving vegans/vegetarians more than one option!! Personally I much prefer a veggie/bean burger. I think they use gardein black bean burgers but I am NOT complaining, honestly I love them. I was very happy with it. Everything was up to my standards, soft burger buns, well cooked patty, fresh lettuce and tomato. The fries were delicious, soft and crunchy crisp like I love them! Thanks for the vegan options!! Maybe we can see vegan ice cream/desserts here in the future. (Their flavored ice is actually probably vegan, I didn't ask or try them but they looked good :) read more

This is an amazing new location to visit when staying in Bethany Beach- specially during COVID social distancing! Not only are the food options amazing but also very reasonably priced. The crab cakes were very meaty and the black bean burger, friend pickles, soft shell crab sandwich, and Shaka burger with crab dip on top were delicious. Perfect for getting reasonably priced sea food away from the crowded boardwalk and with plenty of outdoor picnic tables to eat outside. The staff was also really helpful and polite. We will be visiting this restaurant every year we stay at the beach from now on. read more

Ordered take out from Shaka and enjoyed everything we got. Tried the cheeseburger with added fried onions, side of fries, a crab cake sandwich, and coconut milk bubble tea. The burger was tasty. It looks hand formed and wasn't greasy. The fries were good and crispy. My mom enjoyed her crab cake sandwich and said it had ample crab meat. The bubble tea was a nice sweet treat. Ordered lunch for the family that cost $81. Burgers were dry. Crab fries were ok. Salad with grilled shrimp came with expired dressing. Didn't realize until after I spread it all over the salad. It tasted bad and then I saw the 1/26/22 expiration date on the dressing. I called to let the restaurant know and was told that it was their opening day for the season and the dressing tasted fine. I asked for my money back and they told me they could only give me a new salad. My family won't be eating here again. read more

Wanted to like this place. The food has no seasoning and the side options are all very bland as well. Ordered $50 of food for our chicken tenders to be dry, over cooked, and under seasoned. Our fish tacos were passable but our chicken tacos are so bland and over cooked we can't even finish them. We got hush puppies for sides and they are under cooked and raw in the middle. We were on our last night in Ocean View and were hankering for some good burgers (NZT Five Guys))! We were so happy with all our selections. We got several double bacon cheeseburgers - Big Kahuna,, the Gidget, the Cheese Steak Wrap, the Exotic Blend Burger (fabulous), Wipe Out Shrimp, kids hot dog meals, Fried Mac n Cheese Wedges, and the game changer - HOT CRAB DIP ON SEASONED FRIES!!!! Amazing food and we ordered through Door Dash on a Friday evening in August (think lots of traffic) and the food came hot and delicious within the hour! I've past this place for the past few years not really noticing it, but I decided to pull the trigger. Best decision ever. Probably the only place in LSD that sells Boba. Seriously a mind chilling amount of flavors and I was hit with a wave of nostalgia drinking the red bean flavor. Reminds me of Lotte and Korean street vendors. The food is very filling. Thick cut fries, shrimp, well seasoned burger patties, fresh and flaky cod, you really can't go wrong. Cool happy meal style kids meals too. We decided to try this place for a change.. we have a place at the beach so we frequently eat out. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and crab dip my family had the burgers and fries. The crab cake was not one I would have again. It was very mushy inside and the crab dip was not tasty either. Very plain. The hamburgers were fresh cooked and large. My family enjoyed those and the fries. They have no inside seating so go when weather permits. read more
