Where do I even begin? With Kevin, the amazing owner whose hospitality is second to none? Or with the incredible food? We pulled up to The Upscale Crab & Seafood Truck without expecting much because it's been so hard to find truly great seafood in Bethany and Ocean City. You'd think being so close to the ocean would mean amazing seafood is everywhere but that's definitely not the case. From the moment we arrived, Kevin made us feel welcome. His hospitality, honesty, and passion for his food are some of the best we've experienced in a long time. He took the time to explain every item on the menu, which includes crabs, crab cakes, lobster rolls, fried shrimp, fried fish, steamed shrimp, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, and hush crabbies. What really impressed us was his honesty. Instead of trying to sell us everything, Kevin recommended the items that were at their best that day. For example, he suggested skipping the fried fish because the day's catch wasn't as large as usual. Instead, he recommended the crab cake platter and the lobster roll. And even gave us a sample of the lobster roll which is delicious. We ended up getting a dozen large crabs, which he generously gave us a discount on, along with the crab cake platter. Every single bite was outstanding. The crabs were perfectly seasoned, and the crab cake was packed with fresh crab and absolutely delicious. Without a doubt, The Upscale Crab & Seafood Truck serves the best crabs and seafood we've had in Bethany Beach and Ocean City. I'll be in town for the next week, and this will absolutely be my go-to spot for seafood. This place has gone downhill since last yr. Had to change my review from 5 to 2 stars. The problem is the crab cakes have literally no backfin and lots of ground up shells. Don't waste your money. I've had these crab cakes 2x this season and that's it, not trying again. Go to southside deli all jumbo lump backfin crab cakes or crab cake factory in Selbyville. Steam shrimp was very sandy. We came by on a rainy late afternoon and were the only people in line. We missed the afternoon rush and the rain must have also been keeping people inside because every other time we have driven by Upscale there was usually a line. My brother knew he wanted to try the lobster roll, but my dad asked what they recommended. The guy, who we found out later to be the owner, went through each menu item, telling us how they get the ingredients and how everything is prepared. All the seafood is brought in fresh and it is Upscale that freezes it themselves, only to thaw the day of preparation. Some of their sauces, like the tartar sauce and remoulade sauce, are homemade. The owner seemed very passionate about his business and seemed to value quality of ingredients immensely. In addition to the lobster roll we also ordered the crab cake sandwich, fried shrimp, and french fries. The order was a little pricey, but for quality seafood that is expected. We did have to wait about fifteen minutes for the food to be ready, as they were making the food right then. While I only tried a piece of the lobster roll this day, my dad and brother were instantly impressed. The lobster roll was perfectly buttered and grilled, with fresh lobster and bread. My dad said it may have been the best crab cake sandwich he has ever had. The crab cake was all jumbo lump crab and perfectly crispy on the outside. They also loved the fried shrimp and french fries. My brother always says you know it's a good french fry if it does not need ketchup and he did not need ketchup for these fries. Overall, Upscale seems to be an awesome addition to the Bethany Beach scene and is a must try for all seafood lovers. Even the non-seafood lovers may want to try it out too! read more

Stopped here probably 4 times last year. We would make the trip up from OCMD for those jumbo jump crab cake cause they're massive and delicious. The crab hush puppies are perfect bites and the coleslaw is even good! Worth a stop if you're passing by on route 1 read more

My husband and I stopped by on our last day in Bethany beach and all I can say is WOW! The quality of the seafood was phenomenal and the portions were huge. We got steamed crabs, a crab cake platter, an order of crab puppies, and a lobster roll platter and we ended up sharing with my sister, her husband, and my father due to having so much food left over! The owner was lovely and came out and spoke with us at length to give us the history of his business and how they source seafood. We will be back every year! Amazing! read more

Excellent crab cakes! Huge and absolutely filled with crab! That said, it's a truck and there is nowhere to eat so you have to take it to go. Right next to it is a fresh crab dealer. We scored some steamed crabs as well! They were great the next day. read more

At 11 am, I ordred directly with owner for a dozen medium and large mix crabs to be picked up at 6pm. At 4:30 pm, I called back and asked him to add some hushpuppies to the order. "All good....No problem" he said.. Then at 5:40 pm...20 minutes before I was suppose to pick up the crabs,, the owner calls me ans say, "Sorry, we have no more crabs!" YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!. Who does that so that 20 minutes before a pick up? NOT an Honest Person! We had planned a special dinner with my daughter who is only visiting for a few days and it was ruined as we had a bunch of sides ready to go and on the stove when we got the call on NO CRABS! He had the nerve to tell me to check GE for crabs. It was 6 pm on a Sat..of course .NO ONE has crabs left! The owner talked a big game, but cannot deliver. Even if you order from him in the morning, dont be so confident that you wont get the call about cancelling your order. NOT Reliable. In 40 years of ordering crabs, never had a business cancel 20 minutes to go before pickup. Go to a more reliable, established place. read more
