As you can see from my more than 10 past reviews this is one of my top ten restaurants for happy hour at the bar. The last time we visited here was back in 2025. The restaurant was closed during the winter season. They reopened in mid April. We were here in April on a Friday around 3:50 PM, before a line of customers were lined up ready to enter at 4 PM. We scored our favorite 5 bar stools. I started with my two orange crushes for $9 each and ended with my draft Yuengling lager, since my favorite draft Guinness was no longer being offered. We also noticed some changes to their happy hour menu. The two chicken sliders are now available with one of two preparations including the original Old Bay honey or the newer Nashville hot. I enjoyed my two Nashville hot chicken sliders for $7, which were very moist and tender. They were great. I also enjoyed their happy hour homemade cream of crab soup for $8. We also ordered the Nevas potatoes to go for $5. My total bill was $61 excluding gratuity. We agreed we will continue to return here for happy hour. read more

The Big Fish opened this restaurant in Ocean View close to a friend's house and we're glad they did! My wife and I had dinner with them on a recent Friday night and really had a great time. This is a large restaurant and we had a nice table upstairs. We were here in April so no wait and plenty of parking. We started off with drinks and my Orange Crush was outstanding! Appetizers of calamari and rock shrimp were very good. I ordered the blackened catfish with mashed potatoes and asparagus. What a great meal! Service was friendly and attentive. Got their early, great initial service, but started lacking as they got busy. Appetizers were good, we got the steamed shrimp and bruschetta. Crab soup was good, but lacked any sizeable lump meat and was quite salty. I had the crab cakes and was a bit disappointed in their size. They had to be less than 1/4 lb each, and looked like two scoops of cookie dough. They tasted great, but I think they were victims of shrinkflation. Everyone else's dishes looked good and were sizeable. Timing of dishes were a small problem. All but 1 came out quick, but one took about 15-20 minutes more for a simple grilled salmon. read more

Our server was great, super friendly. Unfortunately our $25 Fish and Chips were super disappointing. The smallest piece of fish and we are right next to the ocean. We are from New England and this is a disgrace to Fish & Chips. We were offered a bigger piece, to be fair.. but we said no because we were hungry and it wasn't the waitresses fault. Cousins and I came for seafood. Shared a Coconut Shrimp appetizer and a Roasted Street Corn Lobster Bisque. Entrees were Fresh Cashew Crusted Alaskan Cod on potato mashers with sautéed spinach. Herb Crusted Flounder on Rigatoni and Pesto sauce. And Pan Seared Halibut over Seafood Risotto. Side of garlic bread. A Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Dogfish Head Citrus. We've been to this location quite a few times over the years and not much has really changed. I think they do most of their business in the bar area for Happy Hour, at least that's where it seems they focus most of their business. They certainly do not focus their restaurant on their food. The food has not changed for years and it is nothing really special. As far as their menu specials I'm not sure that is what they should be called. When you have the same menu special every single night I'm not sure you can call it a special. The only thing that changes from day to day is the date on the top of the menu. We are locals and eat at the Big Fish Grill often. However last night we got a very pleasant surprise. About a month ago we ate there with 3 other couples . Our server then was Maddie. We were all in a good mood as we were celebrating a couple of birthdays. Maddie was amazing and made our celebration dinner all the more fun. Last night 4 of the 8 of us returned for a quiet dinner. We were lucky enough to get Maddie as our server again. Not only did she remember us, she remembered what we ordered. She is amazing at her job. Big Fish has an epic extensive menu! Being a pescatarian, I tend to have dreams of this restaurant. If I lived closer, I for sure would be a regular. Wine and dine, baby! I always get myself a glass (or two) of crisp white wine and pick one of the daily specials--I've only ever had the daily specials here because they are SO HARD to pass up. All dishes have been really tasty and the portions quite large. I highly recommend going for a fresh daily fish dish! Parking can be hard around dinner, so get here early! read more

Let me start by saying we are huge fans of both the Rehobeth and Wilmington locations - both of which also happen to serve some of the best fried oysters in their respective areas. So imagine our surprise and disappointment when our $19 per order of them came out as little - and I mean little- overbrowned, dried hunks of breading. Quite possibly they headed up the worst ever list. I'll give them their due on the drinks: the spicy tequila crush was good. The wedge salad was passable. The seafood bucket was tasty, but amateurish - like they used instant rice. Our server was friendly, but OMG she was so overwhelmed with tables that it was a somewhat uncomfortable experience between courses or drinks waiting,. All! The service is incredibly slow. It was not busy, at all. Server was slow to get to the table. The food took way too long to get to us. Most of the food was inedible. I had the crab ravioli special. It was drowning in the broth. It was not even a sauce. More like watered down soup with no flavor. My husband had the surf and turf. No flavor to the shrimp. No flavor to the steak. Mashed potatoes were way too gummy to eat. The manager came by saw what was on our plates and was appalled. She couldn't believe someone would serve either one of those plates. We walked 45 minutes for food. Caesar salad did not have correct dressing and romaine was soggy and Inedible. Many steamed clams were inedible since the shells never opened. Coconut shrimp was soggy. Burger that was ordered to be medium rare was well done. Manager offered to redo food but since it took 45 minutes the first time around we declined. We were told summer staff was being trained and that was the problem. We were given cards for 2 free apps (there were 5 of us) and were not charged for some of the food (that we didn't eat) However, our overall dining experience was extremely problematic leaving us with no desire to return. read more

This is my second time to the Big Fish Grill in Ocean View in 2 weeks. Loved it so much the first time, we just had to come back and bring more people! Not only is the food exceptional as we our group had the Calamari as an appetizer, and our entrees were Seafood Paella, Fish and Chips, Chicken Carbonara and Surf and Turf which were all exceptional!!! I like my steak blue rare and it was served perfectly! What made this meal and our previous visit so special was our server Savannah! She was exceptional on our first visit so we actually waited a few minutes and requested to sit in her section this time too! She is extremely friendly, provided quick service, suggested tasty menu items and even remembered what we ordered when we were there last time! She was well worth the short wait and the manager even accommodated our party so we could sit in her section. She is CLEARLY an asset to the staff and this restaurant. So we came here because we have wanted to try it for a while now and didn't want to fight the traffic going to Rehoboth. The service was good. Was seated right away and the waiter was attentive and on top of things. I had the Chesapeake chicken. I heard a lot about this dish from a co-worker. I was a little disappointed though. The sauce was delicious but not much crab meat and the double chicken breast were small. Both sides were good. Sweat potato mashers and broccoli. My wife had the 12 oz sirloin. It was cooked to perfection but lacked any flavor. I am not sure they even put salt or pepper on it.
