Wow! This place is amazing!!! If you're in the area you NEED to stop here. They serve breakfast all day and have happy hour Monday - Friday from 11-3pm. We all got the Chilaquiles. We all added different meats. I had steak and Birria, mine so so delicious and filling! My sister got carnitas and loved the flavor. My other sister got pastor and birria, and she loved it as well! We got the kids breakfast for my nephew and it was HUGE! We all will have tons of leftovers. My sister also got the dirty horchata and it was very balanced and flavorful! Wow this place is a gem! The woman who took my order took time to welcome me, ask if I had any questions, and let me know that everything is made fresh...including the chips/tortilla for the chilaquiles. I tried this place out because of the reviews for the chilaquiles, and I must say that the reviews are on point and accurate. This is probably one of the tastiest versions of the dish I've ever had, and it's fun to try them at different spots to see how they are. She took time to talk to me to see if I enjoyed the dish, so I appreciate that greatly. There are two other places that have awesome chilaquiles (one in Pomona, and the other in La Verne), but SeD Covina is in the top three definitely. I'd like to try these three places again to remove any recency bias, but wow is all I'll say. The chips were crispy and tasted fresh, and they pretty much maintained consistency throughout the whole meal with a tiny bit of expected saturation near the end with the egg yolk and sauce, but all in all, a great and filling breakfast. I've been here many times, but after today, I'm done giving this place the benefit of the doubt. The food is good and the coffee is solid, but the service is absolutely unacceptable. I had to ask for water three times, and we finally got it as we were leaving. I asked twice for syrup for our waffles, and it never came we literally had to eat our waffles without syrup and cold from waiting. There is no excuse for this level of neglect. The service has always been slow, but today crossed the line. If management doesn't fix their service issues, the good food won't matter because people will stop coming. The place is really small maybe 8 big tables (seat 4) and 3 to 4 small tables (seat only 2). FOOD: We ordered two chorizo bowls and two Chilaquilles plates.... - plus side- portions could be shared - down side- they were OUT of rice by noon and shortly after ran out of beans. They served us our Chilaquilles plate WITHOUT beans and didn't even mention it to us... we noticed and asked about the beans and that's when they told us they ran out. Why not be honest about it from the beginning??? Was unusually shady if you ask me. We ended up paying $150 for 2 mimosas, 2 coffees, 1 agua de limon con pepino, 1 order of chiles gueros, 2 chorizo bowls, 2 Chilaquilles plates, 1 order of guacamole and chips, and an order of churro pancakes. For my main, I had the Huevos Rancheros, and they were incredible -- the tortillas were perfectly crisped, and the verde salsa was so flavorful. I didn't add any meat, but the flank steak I saw on other customers' plates looked amazing -- definitely something I'd try next time. SeD is located in a small plaza in Montclair. I stopped by around noon on a Saturday and there were a handful of parties waiting in front of mine. For a party of 2, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated, although not all tables were occupied and perhaps the current staffing couldn't accommodate the amount of customers. Once seated, the ambiance in the restaurant was warm, well-lit, and with friendly staff. At times, service seemed behind with ordering and providing utensils. SeD serves breakfast all day and also has a lunch menu. I ordered the 2 shrimp tacos which comes with flour tortillas, beans, and rice which were delicious! The shrimp tacos were divine, perfectly cooked and paired well with a crema and the typical taco accoutrements. The beans had a subtle spice that was delightful. I ordered the café de olla which was on the pricier side ($5.99), but it was sweet, had a strong cinnamon flavor, and unlimited refills. Overall, the dishes and drinks were great for brunch, with mostly good service. There's plenty of parking available. If in the area, I'd return to try their breakfast dishes! read more

Went to breakfast with some girlfriends and wanted to meet in the middle. Stumbled across this cute little spot tucked in the corner of a strip mall. The interior of the restaurant was clean and cute. It was empty when we went (9ish AM on a weekday) and we were served promptly. I discovered this place on Tik Tok and wanted to try it out with my family. Sadly I do not think we will be returning. I will start with the good and then the bad. First off the food was delicious!! I'm very picky about my breakfast spots especially Mexican or Latin spots. Though I will say the food was quiet tasty. We got an order of the sampler with three different tacos, chilaquiles, pancakes, and chips and guacamole. The food was good, though the wait times were actually ridiculous! Moving onto why I put three stars is because the service was extremely SLOW!!!!!! I also want to say I do NOT BLAME THE EMPLOYEES at all!!! I completely understand they can only do their best with what's at hand. I truly felt bad for the one waitress because she had all the tables to serve, take drinks to, have to take orders, and do everything. There was eventually help later but poor lady was doing everything by herself! So we arrived at 11:17 and didn't actually eat till 1:17!! 2 hours later !!! I wish the lady in the front was more transparent about the wait time. Let the customers decide if they want to wait, not give them an unrealistic wait time (which we were told 30-40 mins). I wasn't expecting the employees to rush other customers to eat or magically make new tables appear. I just wish she would've been more transparent about the wait time and let us decide what we wanted to do (because she was also telling EVERYONE it was 30-40 mins). Which mathematically doesn't add up if you are telling everyone 30-40 mins?? So finally when we sit down, we were informed that only one waitress was working. 5 mins go by... 10 mins...then 15 and now 20 mins go by and no one has came to our table to even get our drinks. Once again I truly felt bad for the waitress!! Finally we have to flag someone down to just get our drinks. We ordered an appetizer of chips and guacamole thinking it will come out before our food but of course there was another delay and all the food came out together. By then we were just hungry and just wanted to eat and leave. So all-in-all, I just want to say I DO NOT BLAME THE STAFF!! They can only do so much!! I blame the management for putting all that on one waitress!! That is so unrealistic and unfair to her ! She ends up getting the short end of the stick because she is the one dealing with the hungry and angry customers!! So I hope this reaches management and they can change some things! All the staff was very friendly and once again I do not blame the waitress or even the cooks or anyone working!! It appears the staff is extremely hard working but just need help especially at peak times like Saturday mornings!! I blame management for allowing that to happen! We would've loved to return but the wait time was just ridiculous! Also my plate came with burnt onions!
