Decided to come here after craving some chilaquiles and their pictures looked super appetizing and delicious. The place is located in a parking lot with other businesses but there is plenty of parking which is great. The restaurant is not too big but not too small, although if it gets busy I can definitely see the wait times being long. The service was a little slow, we had to keep asking for refills even though there were just us and 2 other people in the restaurant, the staff was nice though. But let's talk about the food, the real deal. I ordered the birria chilaquiles which were good but not spicy at all.. and I can't handle spicy that well lol. I definitely wish the chilaquiles sauce had a bit of a kick to it but that's just my preference. The birria was a little on the salty side but overall pretty good with a big portion of the birria. The waffles were also good, if you like maiz then you'd like these as it has a strong maiz taste. The Tres Leches cornmeal waffles were delicious! I was afraid that it may be too sweet but the sweetness level was fine for me and I finished all of them within minutes! The waffles were well made and the edges were pretty crunchy : ) the fruits were fresh and the cream added a good balance. My husband ordered a churro pancake and that was delicious as well. You can really taste the cinnamon sugar that a churro has. Overall it was a great place for brunch/breakfast. The owner was there and chatted briefly with us, seems like a very down to earth person. The restaurant itself was cozy and clean with plenty of parking spaces in the plaza lot. Would recommend their tres leches waffles and would definitely come back again! read more

Extremely expensive and misleading pricing. Our total came to $73 for two entrees and two drinks, which felt excessive for breakfast. The food overall was okay, but the pricing was unreasonable. We ordered chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Both entrees were listed around $17, which seemed fair. The chilaquiles were advertised with steak so we decided to add it. It ended up being charged an additional $18 for steak added to both plates. This was never mentioned to us beforehand. On top of that, the steak was extremely overcooked even after the waiter asked how we wanted it prepared (medium rare), and the portion was very small, only about five pieces on each plate. We didn't complain at the time, but had we known the cost of the add-on, we would have sent it back. The drinks were also surprisingly expensive -- $9 for an orange juice! The checkout process was also frustrating. The employee processing our payment didn't know how to split payment between cash and card, so we waited about 10 minutes while they figured it out. I was initially shown a total of $68 before paying cash, but when I went to pay the remaining balance, the total increased. When I asked why, I was told the menu pricing was for cash payments only. This was very misleading because the menu only shows one price and does not clearly indicate separate cash and card pricing. read more

Wow! What a great find. I was meeting a friend for lunch and found Sed Cocina on google maps. So we decided to try it. Let me tell you! You won't be disappointed, the food and drinks are delicious. I had the huevos rancheros with steak, the sauce was exactly what you expect full of flavor and not too spicy. The steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. We asked for spicy sauce on the side and my favorite was the oil based one. The staff were welcoming and attentive and food/drinks were brought to us in a timely manner. BOY are these plates reminiscent of Claim Jumper portions!! Golly Gee! I have been 3 times and every time I come the food is hot and delicious. I'm usually sat pretty quickly and service is the same your food comes up right away! My favorite item is the Beef Birria Chilaquiles although I have also tried the carnitas those too were yummylicious. Coffee was tasty - as was the Mimosa when I ordered that one too. Wow! This place is amazing!!! If you're in the area you NEED to stop here. They serve breakfast all day and have happy hour Monday - Friday from 11-3pm. We all got the Chilaquiles. We all added different meats. I had steak and Birria, mine so so delicious and filling! My sister got carnitas and loved the flavor. My other sister got pastor and birria, and she loved it as well! We got the kids breakfast for my nephew and it was HUGE! We all will have tons of leftovers. My sister also got the dirty horchata and it was very balanced and flavorful! Wow this place is a gem! The woman who took my order took time to welcome me, ask if I had any questions, and let me know that everything is made fresh...including the chips/tortilla for the chilaquiles. I tried this place out because of the reviews for the chilaquiles, and I must say that the reviews are on point and accurate. This is probably one of the tastiest versions of the dish I've ever had, and it's fun to try them at different spots to see how they are. She took time to talk to me to see if I enjoyed the dish, so I appreciate that greatly. There are two other places that have awesome chilaquiles (one in Pomona, and the other in La Verne), but SeD Covina is in the top three definitely. I'd like to try these three places again to remove any recency bias, but wow is all I'll say. The chips were crispy and tasted fresh, and they pretty much maintained consistency throughout the whole meal with a tiny bit of expected saturation near the end with the egg yolk and sauce, but all in all, a great and filling breakfast. We have been eyeballing this place for some time now and finally my wife and I ventured out to Montclair. What caught our attention were the good reviews and the unique Mexican spin on traditional Mexican breakfast. The place is in a strip mall near the Montclair Mall. Not much to speak of from outside but inside is modern, clean and bright. We started out with some Cafe De Olla. Which is a sweet cinnamony hot coffee. After going over all the items on the menu my wife decided on the menudo. Which could be a risky move cause no one makes menudo like mom. Also different regions have a different spin on Menudo. This according to my better half was excellent. Sorry Mom. I opted for the Chilaquiles Divorciados which are chilaquiles with both red and green sauce. This is what real homemade Mexican breakfast should taste like. Hand made tortillas only made everything better. I wanted to take a picture of my wife slurping her menudo. She said if I did the chilaquiles wouldn't be the only thing divorciados at the table. She cracks me up. Anyway we will be going back to try something else soon I'll keep you posted. This place was okay. Honestly I was a little disappointed. ... LOCATION: Located in a small shopping center. The place is really small maybe 8 big tables (seat 4) and 3 to 4 small tables (seat only 2). FOOD: We ordered two chorizo bowls and two Chilaquilles plates.... - plus side- portions could be shared - down side- they were OUT of rice by noon and shortly after ran out of beans. They served us our Chilaquilles plate WITHOUT beans and didn't even mention it to us... we noticed and asked about the beans and that's when they told us they ran out. Why not be honest about it from the beginning??? Was unusually shady if you ask me. We ended up paying $150 for 2 mimosas, 2 coffees, 1 agua de limon con pepino, 1 order of chiles gueros, 2 chorizo bowls, 2 Chilaquilles plates, 1 order of guacamole and chips, and an order of churro pancakes. Don't think I'll be returning. The food was okay and the fact that they were out of beans and didn't say anything bugged me... oh and then they ran out of rice at noon. read more

Crunchy and perfectly filled with potato's and cheese, the sauce on top is flavorful and they give you a small amount of beans and rice but it all worked out and filled me up. Second time her and I unfortunately had a terrible experience. 1st off the food (that we did receive) was delicious but... the service was SO bad. Our waitress name was Elena. She had a terribly rude weird passive aggressive attitude the entire time. It was super uncomfortable. The table next to us also mentioned they were shocked by her. There were 3 of us there and we ordered 3 breakfast dishes and an a la cart order of the churro pancakes to share. I'm assuming she forgot to include the order of pancakes. We reminded her on FOUR occasions about our order and still nothing. She looked annoyed that we asked her for them. As we were packing up our food because we were done eating she brings out the pancakes?!? I told her, we are all done with the meal and getting ready to leave. It's too late. She said she would just have to throw them away. I told her my family wanted to try them still since it was their 1st time visiting. She firmly said "we don't give out free food" ?!? That wasn't our intention at all, we actually reminded her for our order 4 times prior to being done with our food. The table next to us also said WOW to her rude response. The entire time at the restaurant was awful. Bad/rude service can definitely leave a bad taste in your mouth and an everlasting memory. (She also did include the pancakes on our bill!!!) She took off the pancakes, we paid, and left asap. Since this restaurant is a small intimate place, everyone noticed and could hear what was going on. It was shocking.
