Our first impression of this place was amazing! We came with a party of 9 to celebrate my mom's birthday, and it ended up being the perfect brunch spot. I'd honestly come back just for the coffee, it was so good, we tried all three and I'd have to say the tres leches latte was the top favorite! The atmosphere is calm and cozy, and I loved that they have the cutest plants and pots for sale throughout the space. The food was delicious, and there was a little something for everyone. I ordered the chilaquiles with skirt steak, and the steak was perfectly marinated with so much flavor. We wanted to try the flan for dessert, but they had just run out. We came pretty close to closing, though, so we completely understood. The service really made the experience even better. Tiffany took such great care of our table and made us all feel so comfortable. My mom is the type of person who hates asking for anything, but Tiffany was so attentive and thoughtful that she made my mom feel completely at ease. The skirt of grilled cheese was a great albeit excessive addition and honestly it never needed the steak to be a hit. All around great morsel of food. I only tried a couple bites of the chorizo bowl but the flavor was on point. Enjoyed a warm cup of cinnamon-y coffee that jolted me wide awake. The star of the show was all the homemade salsas we were offered that were all unique and fresh. Exactly the spice level and acidity I was looking for. You can tell they cook with such love and I'm surprised it was so calm on a weekend morning! This place needs more people! Service: Top notch! No complaints! We decided to give the new Mexican restaurant SedCocina a try -- and honestly, it turned out to be one of the more disappointing dining experiences we've had lately. We were seated fairly quickly, but it took a long time before anyone came to take our order -- not even water was offered at the start. It seemed like the staff were more focused on a private social gathering happening in the restaurant than on their paying customers. I ordered the Surfin' Burrito, while my wife went with a Torta and a drink. Unfortunately, the food didn't deliver. My burrito came out early but was overly salty and had only a couple of shrimp pieces, which made the $19 price tag feel unjustified. To top it off, chips weren't included -- which is a surprise for a Mexican spot at that price point. My wife's torta wasn't much better. While the meat was okay, the fried cheese was extremely salty, and the rest of the ingredients didn't come together flavor-wise. Her dish cost $20 but only came with what looked like store-bought chips. The total came to about $70 with tip for just two entrées and one drink, and sadly, the food quality and service didn't justify the price. To make matters worse, one of the staff members was even on a FaceTime call on speaker with their family -- right in the dining area. It was loud, unprofessional, and left a bad impression. Overall, SedCocina has potential, but the poor service, overpriced menu, and lack of attention to customers make it a spot I wouldn't recommend -- at least not until they improve both their food and hospitality standards. read more

A bit of a belated review. I went with some friends for Saturday brunch. It's a cozy spot and we were seated right away but it did take a while to get the menus and a little extra time to get our orders in. I shared the sampler (Queso Birria; Carnitas street taco; Dirty Queso with carne asada) and the Chilaquiles divorciados. The meals were good but had a different flavor profile than what I'm used to - for example, the chilaquile sauces tasted a little more mild and not as flavorful as what I'm used to and the carne asada also had a bit of a different profile (almost dry-aged). I think it might be a regional style, which I think they could definitely advertise, if that's the case :) I was most excited for the queso birria. This is quite literally a gem of a place. I don't say that lightly. I've tried almost every single thing on the menu, from their tortas to their breakfast items to their tacos, even their desserts. I haven't had a single thing that was less than a 5/5. I'm not sure what it is, but the taste, aroma, and texture is all there perfectly for every single menu item they have. My personal favorite is the dirty burrito, easily my go-to nowadays. That's not to say the food is the only thing that's good. Their service is friendly! It feels hospitable and "homey." They always care and ask you about the quality of their food, it actually feels like everyone that works here has a passion for the food they serve. The restaurant has such a unique decor scheme unlike others I've seen. It just makes you feel comfortable and not in a hurry to leave. Our waitress was kind, informative, and most of all, friendly and excited to tell us about the best dishes and what makes SeD Cocina different and special. The homemade red sauce is spicy and Smokey-a perfect accompaniment to my mollete with chorizo, black beans, and cheese on a bolillo bread. The corn waffles were drizzled with condensed milk and berries. The food was incredibly flavorful and balanced, not to sweet or salty. The refills on the cafe de olla were a wonderful surprise-they even asked if we'd like another refill in a to-go cup. SeD was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I finally visited. There was a lady that came up and I asked if I could see a menu she gave me the menu and asked if I had put my name down I told her yes and she said you are next and I will sit you on that corner, which was seating 4+1 child in a high chair, at first I said ok, but I thought my kids are not in high chairs anymore and thought we won't fit. I went to the lady and said I'm sorry my kids are not in high chairs may we get another table and she said she would put me in the next available and that table is it. I didn't say anything and told my husband and he was a little upset now it was about 40 min and two tables were cleaned up on another side and the table she said she would put me on was still finishing eating. I came to ask about how much longer and another lady came and she asked my name and said yes I can sit you there she said "let me just clean it" (it was already clean) while the original lady yelled over and said I am seating her over there (on the corner). She asked if I needed high chairs I said no. And she said I will have to seat you at another table. The original lady came and said I am waiting to sit you at another table because there is another party that is bigger. We left, she was still waiting for another table to sit us and yet she said she would sit us at the next available. I went in with my daughter and her service dog (very much needed) service dog, and they practically kicked us out stating that the owner requested that we not be seated. We have never had an issue before. it really saddens me. We came in excited and hopeful, but the chilaquiles had little to no flavor and were very disappointing. The taco we ordered was just okay--nothing memorable or worth returning for. The service was also extremely slow. To make matters worse, when we received our bill, each item showed dual pricing. We had to ask what the additional charge was, only to be told it was related to credit card purchases. The staff then pointed out that cash prices were lower and claimed the information was listed on the menu. While it may have been there, the print was so small that it was easy to miss, and no one mentioned it to us beforehand. It felt misleading to only explain it after we questioned the bill. Overall, we left disappointed. Between the bland food, slow service, and lack of transparency regarding pricing, this wasn't a good experience. Sadly, we won't be coming back. read more

Staff is nice, you might wait a while if it's busy, service might be slower when it's busy. But please. Be patient. It's worth it. Don't bash them cause you have to wait. My husband and I were looking for something a little different this morning for breakfast. I came to Yelp to look for some yummy chilaquiles and oh boy, did we find them! We came in and were seated right away. We took a look at the menu and decided to be fatties and get the breakfast burrito, chilaquiles with red and green sauce with skirt steak and asada fries. NOTHING DISAPPOINTED. Food came out very quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering! All the tortilla chips in the chilaquiles were so CRISPY despite being smothered in sauce, the fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and fried cheese on the breakfast burrito just pushed at burrito over the edge! Some of the best Mexican food we've had in a long time! I was texting my mom about it and we ended up getting it for her too!
