Although the chorizo and salsa were quite delicious, it was disappointing to know that the meal doesn't come any longer with beans as it is the best pairing as shown in older pics at the website. The house potatoes are just ok as there is nothing special about them. I would recommend the restaurant to add a piece of foil to the bottom of styrofoam containers as the food heat almost melts the container prior to using them as could cause an accident in addition to being unhealthy. The service was quite quick and attentive. The ambiance was lacking as the restaurant is in pretty rough shape. The back of the booth near the counter was totally ripped off and showed the wood structure, the decorations falling from the wall and the small strip of border coming off from the walls held by pieces of tape. I will suggest to Management to perform a face-lift. Removed the clutter from the counter of the restaurant as this will be more appealing to the patrons and business will increase. I will definitely come back and patronize it if the ambiance is improved as right now I won't want to bring any family or friends to it. The patio sitting is not very appealing either as the area is very loud, windy, and isolated. read more

The business itself is small, and you can tell there are a LOT of regulars who come in for some socializing on Sundays. And these folks deserve their loyal customers. Check your order!! I was the only one in the restaurant and I ordered a breakfast burrito with hashbrowns, and the strawberry French toast. I got neither. They gave me a pancake combo which didn't taste good, and a plain set of French toast with a side of eggs. They have a major Quality Assurance problem, so make sure you check your food. Unfortunately I live on the complete opposite side of town so I won't be getting what I had actually ordered. I don't understand how they messed up this badly? Nonetheless, I will not be going back. My family and I ordered our dishes to go and it was ready pretty quickly. Looking from outside, it seems quite busy and we went on a weekend. We all love Benedict's so we got a few. I got the California benedict as I love avocados. I really liked my meal and the fruits were delicious. It went perfect with the benedict. My family also liked their potatoes and hash browns. My mom got the benedict with the corn beef and that was really god as well! Also the food isn't too expensive either! It's a great place to eat or take to go. I have been going to this nice cafe for several years, the owner changed a few months ago, that's ok things went on as normal, really good food, service ambiance, last month as the winter was approaching I noticed it wasn't very warm and comfortable, they have been expanding which is allways nice to see, but two weeks ago I went in at 8 am they open at 7, the expansion was complete, good for them, but it was so cold, the waitress was nice and said its warmer in here( the original side of restaurant" my goodness the thermostat said 62 degrees, Im sorry but I don't care how nice you are, how good your food is, I will not sit in a cold restaurant, so I left, I apologize but I was rude, anyway I ran into the Amazing cook that works there and he was so sweet he asked what happened? you didn't even have coffee, I told him what happened, and the new news is that there is now another new owner, WELL IDK if I will return again, sold twice in 6 months?? and NONE cares to turn on the heat?? Located about midway in a strip mall, if you blink you'll miss this little gem! Small inside with about 7-8 tables but ample outdoor seating it has to be the best California Eggs Benedict we have EVER had. Perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon, firm/ripe avocado and a nice thick slice of tomato all covered with a beautiful Hollandaise sauce. Not overly lemony but very flavorful. A tip-add a spoonful of their house made fresh salsa on top... it's a game changer! Service was prompt, and very friendly owner came over several times to make sure we were enjoying our meals. Fruit also didn't seem fresh (seemed few days old; soggy) and the toast was burnt. What a relief to find a GREAT breakfast! 10 tables for guests or you can pick up to go. Excellent, friendly staff, all wearing masks - more on that later. The food was hot! And oh so tasty! The prices were fine, no issues there. We had the breakfast burrito and garden omelette , boy was it ever yummy. I was surprised at how many guests walked into the outside dining area without masks. This is my only, caveat to this review; in protection for those that are dining; I wish the staff would told the customers coming in and standing in the middle of the dining area, waiting to be seated to put on their masks until you get to your table! I returned last Saturday about 11:00 am for breakfast with my family. It was busy but we were seated immediately. Again service was excellent and food was great. Very attentive and friendly staff, coffee and water refills and anything else you need comes quick. The portions of food are huge, I felt like my wife and I could have easily split a breakfast but she had to have their delicious French Toast and I wanted an omelette, so we compromised and each ordered our own breakfast. One thing I will ask next time I go which will be soon is if they make Specialty coffee drinks like a Cappuccino? But even if they don't their coffee is fantastic and served hot. The food was overall decent The bad: Open kitchen- I don't really like the concept of open kitchen. I don't want to see the behind the scenes of my food being prepared. And since this breakfast joint is so small, we can hear everything happening in the kitchen. Decor- going for a southern farmhouse look, but instead looks like grandma's old bent out of shape kitchen. The wallpaper is tapped to the wall, the seating outside has different folding chairs, & the table cloth is like plastic. They seriously need to redo and upgrade this place. Turkey bacon- it was burnt and reminded me of a bacon strip for dogs lol Overall, this is a good no frills place to go for breakfast. The staff was eager to help, seat, and wait on us which was super nice. The walls seemed a little bare and real estate a little small, but whatever. I was here for some breakfast. I ordered a country fried steak, while ma got a short stack. This is where the experience started to go a little wry. It took a ludicrously long time for the food. I watched them cook 2 sets of pancakes because the first turned out burnt. I know there could have been a lot of reasons for this, but it was just kinda unfortunate for my ailing tummy to wait any longer. When we did get the food, I enjoyed my fried steak way more than mother liked the stack. They gave her butter on em when she requested it off. They forgot my toast. The hash brown I has was A+, and the steak pretty good. A little salty, but all in all one of the better ones I've had in memory. I'll go back here I feel. I will admit, we had a rocky start with this place. While we got seated right away on a Sunday morning, we sat there for a bit of time awaiting table service. We ordered our food, and ironically, OUR food came out before other tables (who ordered BEFORE us..... but yes, walked in AFTER us). I think THEY then became annoyed. Regardless of all that, the food was EXCELLENT. The dishes all had a nod towards Mexican ingredients, but let me say this right off the bat........ FINALLY, a place that puts an abundant portion of chorizo in when they say chorizo is in it. I can't tell you how many OTHER restaurants say chorizo in their eggs, and I have to hunt for it...... can't taste it or find it...... but HERE, I tasted it, I found it, and it was DELICIOUS. A huuuuuuuuge amount of eggs, chorizo and melted cheese on top with an equally large serving of hash browns. Again, everything was DELISH !!! It was served with an English muffin (my choice). I honestly don't remember what my husband ordered because I was too busy enjoying what I had ordered. The size of this place is very small, but at least they have smaller tables and chairs that fit the size of the room (unlike at another Simi Valley establishment that is smaller but has way too big tables and chairs for the size of their room). Anyway, it was do-able...... and they have a few tables and chairs outdoors, too, but those were all being used when we first arrived. read more
