Stopped into this place while staying in Simi Valley. We sat on the makeshift patio area. The server was very nice and may have been the owner or manager. He was very proud of the food he was serving. I ordered the tuna melt and my friend ordered the pancakes and eggs special. They both came out picture perfect. My sandwich was great and the side of onion rings were irresistible. I had to eat them first. I couldn't help myself. I would certainly come again if in the area. read more

Found this place on Yelp & took my family from out of state this morning for breakfast. The service was phenomenal and the ambience was great. When we arrived, they put together a table for our party on the patio. We had biscuits and gravy, omelettes, bacon, potatoes, muchacha platter and lattes. We were served quickly, the food was fresh and warm and excellent. The owner visited our table to see if we needed anything. He was very funny and friendly. Will definitely be back. read more

My favorite breakfast spot! Their California Benedict is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend loves the Biscuits and Gravy too! Spicy lovers: Make sure to get the habanero on the side... YUM!) If your ever in the area of this location,I would suggest that you stop here for Breakfast.Small little spot located in a strip mall. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the Denver Omelette with home potatoes,and their version of home made salsa,a must try. What makes this place such a great way to start your morning off with a great breakfast ,is the Hospitality and the service you'll receive. The employees do a tremendous job in accommodating and most of all very attentive to your needs. Don't let the looks of the place turn you off to this home feel cafe! Every single worker was so attentive and kind as well as informative about the menu! They let us know the food items were customizable and I would 110% come back just because the service was absolutely amazing. As for food, I ordered the chicken fried steak with potatoes eggs and toast they weren't the best I've ever had but they were yummy. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros and he demolished eVery bite and our son got an adorable Mickey Mouse shaped pancake with bacon with a whipped cream face! The prices were extremely reasonable but I did find the overall place a bit small, confined and dated We will definitely be back to try new things ! read more

This establishment may not be widely known, but for someone who has been everywhere in Simi Valley, I can honestly tell you that this place serves the best breakfast in town and probably the best eggs benedict I've had anywhere regardless of price. I'm surprised I waited this long to come here. I've tried their classic Benedict as well as the California and the Cal-Mex one, which has a tangy but not spicy flavor. All have been amazing and I highly recommend them. I also once ordered biscuits and gravy which was generously topped with their housemade rich gravy. Fast and very friendly staff every time. They are open 6 days a week but only from 6 to 2:30, so try to catch them if you can. Perfect for breakfast and lunch. There's a large lot with plenty of parking. read more

Armando is a great restaurant owner who takes incredible pride in the food they serve at Ferretiz. We got to talk with him and his care for the food and us as the customers was very evident. The breakfast burrito was delicious. My wife had the garden omelette and loved it. BUT the BEST thing was the biscuits and gravy! The Simi Valley lunch tour led us here today. It's a cozy, small eating area with limited patio seating. It doesn't look like much from the outside. We were greeted by friendly staff. The menu is the type where you want to order one of everything. They also have a specials wall which aren't listed in their regular menu. Even though I was tempted to get an omlette, I went with the chicken salad. It was quite delicious; had avocado, bacon bits, etc and tons of grilled chicken. The portion was generous as well. The server was great, I will definitely have to return to give the rest of the menu a try. read more

Had breakfast here early on Saturday. We asked the waiter what he recommended. He informed us that the owner makes the biscuits and Hollandaise sauce every morning. So, we got steak and eggs and eggs Benedict with biscuits and sauce. Service was very good. The food was great! I love these kind of unassuming places. Hole in the wall? Check. Good people? Check. Great homemade food cooked fresh? Check. Fair prices for what you get? Check. Winner winner breakfast, lunch and dinner! read more

We always have a fantastic customer service experience, and their menu items are delicious! I disagree with the folks who are critical of the flavor of the food. I also disagree with the condition of the restaurant. It is clean, well tended and it's never been a problem in the years we have been eating there. I've been here about 3 times and this place is really great. The biscuits and gravy are the best I've had in Simi. They're fresh tasting and delicious. The service is always great and friendly. It's really small so on the weekend mornings sometimes there is a wait. I heard they're expanding to the building next door so that should be great. Simi has a few good breakfast places but this is def one of the top. read more

This place has great breakfast and huge portions as well! It's a little in the small side but I was told they are expanding. The portions are so big that I could only eat half. Great flavor and fresh ingredients. The price is reasonable for the quantity you get. Actually it's a heck of a deal. The wait staff and owner are super attentive. The wife, daughter and I tried Ferretiz for the first time and it was great! We were immediately greeted and we decided to sit inside the restaurant. They had about six tables outside that were occupied. The drinks came quickly but it took about 10 minutes before our order was taken and about 15 minutes until our food arrived. It was kind of busy but the wait staff were are very friendly. Once to food arrived we were quick to gobble it all up! I had the country fried steak with scrambled eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast and it was very delicious! The wife and daughter each got the scrambled eggs, bacon, and French toast and a fruit bowl and they each said it was wonderful as well. Other than a bit of a wait, this is a great place for breakfast and we will be back for sure. read more

Been here several times now after finding good reviews on yelp a couple weeks ago Food has been very good - always hot and fresh. We tried their chicken fried steak, Florentine omelet, machaca plate, pancakes for the kids and more. Never a complaint! The restaurant is small and tight and seems to die down at lunch. There rush on the weekend is earlier in the morning. We will keep coming back!!! Never had a bad meal. Owner comers around and checks on his guests. That is a sign of a good restaurant. read more

Very good first breakfast we tried here! The chef brought us a biscuit with gravy to try and I must say, although I have never liked biscuits and gravy at most restaurants - too heavy, too white, the gravy tastes like glue or paste - and I wasn't going to even try it but he talked it up and oh wow! Tasted the bacon, cream, light gravy and the biscuit was good. I ordered the Eggs Benedict on corned beef hash and, as always when eating this dish out, asked for the Hollandaise on the side! Picky, right? That's because usually restaurants serve thick, white, flour-y hollandaise and smother the entire plate with it! I make hollandaise at home and believe me it is not white! It's yellow from real egg yolks and butter and medium thickness just enough to stick on the back of a spoon. Well, there was a delay with my order because they started to put the sauce on it and he caught it and immediately told me they would redo it. Now I was feeling like a really picky eater but when my dish came out the hollandaise was yellow, not too thick, on the side and just the right amount. And the hash was crispy on the edges and delicious! So good, we are definitely going back! He told us they also own the Burger Express a couple doors down and when the restaurant that used to be at this location closed they bought it and used it for catering only for 2 years. They opened for meals and apparently are packed on Sundays. We were there early - the first ones in a rainy day - and they were still setting up. Try it! read more

Not exactly the first impression you'd expect from a steakhouse restaurant. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms appetizer. It arrived with plates but no silverware. We waited several minutes assuming our server would return with utensils, but she never did. We had to flag her down and ask for them. I also ordered a glass of wine that never arrived. The restaurant was slow, and by the time our entrées were served, I was still waiting. When we reminded our server, she just said "oh the wine yes!" She completely forgot! The food was even more disappointing than the service. The loaded mashed potatoes tasted extremely sour, no cheese, just shredded raw onions and sour cream with burnt top. How can you call this loaded baked potato? The mac and cheese was dry, bland, and lacked any real cheese flavor. Even the green beans had to a burnt pieces mixed in.None of the sides were at edible level. The steak was the only thing on my plate thats tolerable and even that left my stomach uncomfortable after my meal. The biggest disappointment was the food. For steakhouse prices, we were served loaded potatoes overwhelmed by raw onion, mac and cheese that tasted like cardboard, burnt green beans, and an average steak. I don't really understand the stuffed baked potato, because it was more like a twice baked potato that had maybe been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time, it was browned on top. I don't know where the cheese in the sour cream were, unless they were mixed in. I expected an actual baked potato with toppings but that's not how it came. It seems like the specialty of the house was prime rib, especially since it's only while supplies last and supplies are limited, so I ordered that. I got the 12 oz prime rib so I could take some home and eat leftovers. I was surprised that it came with a crust made of minced garlic, which is not standard or common with prime rib, and I feel like that should have been noted on the menu. Especially because garlic like that often goes against my stomach. I tried to scrape it off and eat around it, but I did end up getting kind of nauseous and gassy later which I didn't really appreciate. Also the crust wasn't all that crusty, the fat layer was basically raw and not rendered. My leftover portion was much better when I could remove the garlic and render the fat in the pan at home. The iced tea was watery and didn't have much flavor. Because I live far away, I didn't try any of the cocktails. And because I was feeling a bit nauseous from the garlic, I didn't stay for any dessert. Let me first start off by saying if the food were the only part that belonged in the rating, Ferretiz Grill & Cafe would deserve 6 stars for the quality they provide, especially at breakfast! Armando is the chef, owner, and genius behind the recipes; his work is amazing. I think this place honestly has the best breakfast in Simi for the local spots. The Chicken Enchilada Omelette is PERFECT and you need to ask for the special spicy red sauce. I've also had a few lunch menu items too and they give you an extremely healthy portion of protein whereas many other places skimp on it. The downsides? There are very few. The location is an extension of Burger Express and it can get a little cramped sometimes during busy hours, but it's nothing outrageously annoying. Most of the staff and even the chefs are very customer service friendly, however, there are one or two who won't really ever smile and give off the "don't ask me for anything else" vibe. As for price, it doesn't help nor hurt them. No real difference than any other breakfast spot around. There's no better spot in Simi for breakfast or dinner. My favorites here are the all meat breakfast skillet and the chicken fried steak with biscuit and gravy. Their chicken fried steak blows the other guys out of the water! Wanted to try lunch items while we were doing errands and thought why not Jarro's Cafe. My wife's Turkey Club was good she was happy with it, full of meat and your standard triple decker club sandwich. I went with the fired Chicken burger and was excited to try it. A huge sandwich indeed, but after several bites around the outside of it I realized it was left in the fryer too long, hard on the outside and the meat was dry and tough. The bun seemed old because it started falling apart. Very disappointing, didn't really eat much of it. When our server Jorge came to the table and asked if we wanted boxes to take the rest of it home it told him not necessary, when I mentioned to him that the chicken was overcooked and was like shoe leather you would think their would be some response. Nothing! Not an apology or can I bring you another one or what can I do to make this better? Just said I will get your check . Wow! Guess it doesn't matter to the establishment that the customer thought the food was sub par, very disappointing. Not sure if I will be back with that kind of attitude from a server, you know these days with everything being so expensive and money being tight for everyone. To go out for a meal costs a lot and to have a meal not be good is one thing but to have the server not even respond to it is another. Sorry Jarro's this is unacceptable, don't think I will be back.

Drinks were good, and they were kept full for our entire visit. I had the ribeye and eggs and considering this is a local diner with the normal grill, the ribeye was cooked med well and had a wonderful flavor to it. My wifes ABC omelette was a hit as well, she got tater tots with hers. They still feature their homemade salsa and strawberry preserves, and those are both personal favorites. We ordered the California omelette, Denver omelette, and Belgium waffle combo. None of these were something to write home about, but they got the job done. If you're considering any of these dishes, maybe try something else and hopefully you'll be more impressed than we were. I only recommend Tio's for Simi Valley and Moorpark locals. Anyone thinking of driving from further out should be able to find a similar diner closer to home.

Fresh dough with cheese that complemented it perfectly. You can really taste the quality. They've been under new ownership for about four months, and it shows in the best way. The food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The owners are also so kind and hospitable, providing genuinely excellent service that made the whole experience even better. The ambiance was very nice also, small place but with a beautiful paneled wood and green design. We also tried the Armenian coffee, which was delicious.
