Came here for my monthly brunch with my friends. They had been here before so I was curious to check this place out. The wait was two hours at 11am, there was tons of people waiting on a Sunday afternoon. One thing I should mention is that they have a bar where you can grab drinks so your wait doesn't feel too long. Once we got seated our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The menu was a bit overwhelming since they serve both breakfast and lunch. I ordered crab and cheese omelet, it was highlighted on their menu. When the food came out the presentation was nice, I got a side of spinach and blueberry muffin. It was a fold over omelet stuffed with crab meat and cheese with hollandaise sauce, simply nice and tasty, but not amazing. My friends food looked good, one got French toast and the other did eggs, bacon and biscuit with gravy. I understand why people like coming here, its not so much the food but the vibe. You're by the beach facing the docks under umbrella shade, with mimosas and bloody mary's on the menu, this place screams brunch esthetic! This was a solid diner breakfast experience with a beautiful view. The French toast were nice and fluffy, good drip coffee and the portions were huge. Greeted by a male host who seemed "bothered" to be working. No eye contact and huffy. Once seated, after waiting our due time, I asked one of the male wait staff for one of four sun umbrellas to be lowered (would not affect any other table). He walked away and never came back. The waitress also tried to tell one of the three men in black standing around by the bar to lower it and they wouldn't. We were offered to go sit back at the waiting area for another table. My mom is 87. She was chilly and just wanted some sun. She doesn't get out much. This was a simple request for most of us. But for someone older it was a big deal. We ended up leaving and going to Ubuntu where the customer service is always outstanding and they strive to make their guests happy and comfortable. Take a page from their book Schooner. Train your staff that your customers come first and that milling around by the bar chatting doesn't look good. Also please hire someone who cares about their job for the first face your customers see for the host stand. Not an entitled and bored host. read more

Went here for the first time. Took my mom out for her birthday. The outdoor seating is a decent size with great view of the marina and yacht club. Inside seating felt a little cramped, but it worked. One of LBC's best restaurant! My girlfriend's friend came over this week and we decided to introduced this spot. My girlfriend went here before and its my first time going here. I am not a big fan of fancy places, but this place can take my money. You cannot beat the ambiance, that's fosho! Eating breakfast near the docks just lighten up my day. The services are quick, not to mention their servers are really friendly. I admit I was skeptical about their food, since most places that have nice views does not translate their food's taste, but damn I was wrong. I ordered their Cod Sandwich with Onion Ring and it was outstanding. Their cod is just the right amount of flavor and not to fishy/ flaky. The bread needs a little improvement because it was a bit chewy, however overall have great quality. Their onion rings are perfectly cook! My girlfriend on the otherhand ordered their "The Mess" menu (hopefully she is not pregnant lol). It is a gigantic messy scramble egg with sausages, cheese, potatoes, and vegetables.. etc. Its name really proceeds its reputation. Nonetheless, it does tasted awesome! You can really taste the freshness of its ingredients. My girl and her friend ordered their mimosa as well, since I am their uber driver for the day. It is in a gawd damn 20oz wine glass. Whoever created this idea is a genius and need a straight up intervention. My girl's friend like the atmosphere and especially the food. She mudered her chicken fried steak and made it like a kid's value meal, so I think it was a success. Overall, definitely going back here again :) read more

I live down the street and brought people from out of town here. We love this place but the service can be inconsistent. Today 12/18 around 9am our waitress that assisted us outside just was not to happy with her life today. Just very cold and we asked to get a picture (which takes two seconds) she responded "ummmmm. I have to make my rounds first and then I'll see about taking your picture" smh wow... I'm an ER nurse never would I say "let me make my rounds then I can grab you a blanket" it's not even busy today lol... food is good but could taste better today with a good experience. I also own a business... this is a great place you want better reviews change your staff. Or maybe they are not being treated well... treat them right? I truly used to enjoy this place when it was under old management but now I can't even remember the last time I actually liked this place. For instance the new owner doesn't seem to know how to run a restaurant and seem to be making passive aggressive remarks to her own employees. I wish yelp did half stars, because they're not quite 2 stars but 3 stars is also too much. So a solid 2.5 stars. They were pretty busy around brunch time, we were seated in about 30 mins so not bad at all. Food is pretty expensive for the quality. My one friend said her food just wasn't that great and it was $$$, they initially got my order wrong (was just an omelette with onion), and my other friend had a hair in her food. The alcoholic drinks were almost straight alcohol, the mimosa schooner barely had orange juice in it, so it was eh. Pricy of course. Soon after they gave us our food they were rushing us out, asking us if we wanted boxes because they were busy and wanted to free up tables. I had a flight out of Long Beach Airport one morning and wanted to eat before I left. I had heard great things.feom a friend who drives over an hour to come here for breakfast on weekend mornings. I knew it could get busy so I planned to get there around 8am, so I would have plenty of time. It was a Sunday morning, so I'm not sure if 8am was a good time or if the overcast skies kept more people from coming out, but the wait for an outside table for our party of 3 was only 15 minutes. We Sat with a great view of the harbor. I ordered the ABC (Avocado, Bacon, Cheddar) Omelet, which came with potatoes and a bread. I opted for the hash browns and banana nut muffin. The portions are HUGE. I had to send most of the hash browns and about 1/3 of the omelet back with my dad.The omelet was cooked well and had good flavor and the hash browns were nice and crispy. Hubby had "the mess" and we shared the cinnamon roll french toast. I also had myself a bloody Mary and he had freshly squeezed orange juice. Service was good. Crab Benedict was good and had a great portion of crab and avocado. Only thing I can "negatively say" is the yoke was Not runny. It one was basically cooked through. But I was hungry so I ate it. Hubby's "mess" was good as he ate it all. The cinnamon french toast was good, but nothing to boast about. I've rather go to Waffle Love at the Steel Craft and get one of their delicious waffles from there. But overall it was decent. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, since the name is so clever. More of a 3.5 stars. Not amazing, not terrible. Standard brunch. FOOD/DRINK: Average. I think maybe the issue is that it's diner-like food at upscale restaurant prices. Got the huevos rancheros. My food came out piping hot, which was great, though could've been seasoned more (felt like it needed salt and pepper). Appreciated that the tortillas were crispy and they had an ample amount of toppings. There's a wide variety of options of the menu, vegetarian and otherwise. Coffee's OK. AMBIENCE: This is the upside of the restaurant. If you're seated outdoors (which is the majority of the seating), you're on the water. We were indoors, so can't speak much to that, though it looked really tranquil. There's a large free parking lot. SERVICE: The server we had was so lovely, energetic, and positive. Major kudos to him. There seems to be a wait here frequently. We went on a Saturday at 8:30AM during August and there was a 20 minute wait already, so I can definitely believe the 1.5 hour wait other reviews mention in the 11-12PM hour. The upside is there's lots of room to wait and you can get coffee while you do so, though I'd recommend avoiding this altogether and coming early. read more
