We were seated immediately when we walked in and were given chips and salsa. Ok, great start! We ordered our food, and sat back and relaxed. During the time we were waiting for our food, we had about four servers stop by during separate occasions, with food asking "Is this your food?" If it happens once... I get it..but for it to happen again and again, I mean c'mon. The restaurant is not that big. We waited until the 40 min mark and asked the server when the food was coming. He said he would check on it- then came back and said they ran into a little issue but were working on our food now. Hmmm..... At this point our table and all the other tables seated after us who also has no food, were just looking at each other wondering what was going on. We kept waiting for a manager to show up and explain what was happening or check- in, but all we saw were servers who were refilling waters and chip baskets. We asked to speak to the manager- but no one came by. After more than hour, our food was served with no apologies or explanations. The food was decent, and because we were starving we scarfed it all down quickly. At the end of our meal, the manager came by, apologized and explained the issue, in detail. She offered to comp some of our bill. Yes, this was very nice, but definitely a little too late. Look mistakes happen, but from someone who used to work in the service industry, a lot could have been done to appease the customers in the wake of the mistake. Blatantly ignoring all of the customers who have been sitting there for an hour + waiting for food should not be an option. read more

I've been going here for years and the food is always pretty good, hence the reason I keep going here. I'm posting this review because I receive poor service in some shape or form about 90 percent of the time and I really hope that management takes responsibility. You can't blame that on servers and other staff (or COVID since these issues predate that) when it's an ongoing issue with varying employees. Rarely am I greeted walking in, food always takes a long time to come out, servers don't check in except to take the order and bring check, orders get mixed up with other tables, food coming out cold, charging the wrong amount, the list really goes on. First time Clovis decided to try this small pleasant restaurant in Old Town Clovis. The food was fantastic! The rice was very well prepared. Being of Hispanic Heritage I am pretty particular about rice and beans. Theirs was very authentic and fresh. The stuffed empanadas were Great. You hardly see them offered anywhere. Enjoyed a really delicious meal at this family-owned Mexican restaurant across the street from our hotel. I had the Rellenos Del Mar (they're known for their rellenos and empanadas, the daughter told us). My husband had a taco and enchilada combo plate. He said the enchilada sauce reminded him of the homemade sauce he had growing up, and he's Mexican. Everything was homemade, even the corn tortillas. As a pescatarian, I appreciated the variety of seafood options I don't see at other Mexican restaurants. The margarita was well-balanced, not too sweet like some can be. August 16, 2023 We were treated poorly. Our waitress was the owners daughter Ondrea. We placed our order. We received our lunch. My partner questioned the small portions of meat and asked for more cheese. There was a $1.5charge for more cheese. He was offered a little more meat and declined the additional cheese. Before the extra meat was delivered my partner decided he no longer wanted the meal and sent it back. He did not eat any portion of the meal. It was tacos so of course he opened up the taco to add some salsa, that's when he noticed the small portions of meat and small amount of cheese. He did not eat or touch any of the meal other than to open the tacos up to add some salsa and to show Ondrea the small portion of meat. When the bill was arrived we noticed that we were charged for both meals. I approached Ondrea and asked why were we charged for the retired meal that my partner found to be unacceptable. Ondrea I say that we had to pay the bill and that every time we go there that we complain about everything, which is a lie. I indicated that I was willing to pay for my meal and drink but not the returned meal. She argued that if I didn't pay all the bill then "she would be calling someone". I asked to speak with the owner Leticia (her mother) who is a real sweetheart. She replied that she wasn't there and wouldn't be in. I paid the bill by my debit card and wrote on the bill, "Paid Under Protest". Ondrea has always given us attitude when ever we went there. This will be the last time we step foot into Salsa's Cantina restaurant. We have always enjoyed have lunch or dinner at Salsa's, no not anymore. The owner is a very kind, loving lady and the staff has always treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. The sad thing about all this is that all this was over $14.99. read more

Service here is great the guys were very quick and attentive and had no problem with us moving closer to the bar to see the football game. The food was good, I got the cheese Chile relleno plate and the enchilada combo. The enchilada combo came with a chipotle sauce, not a fan. I have been here twice-once during the outdoor-only dining and once this past Saturday. The food here is delicious and the portions are large. The only small detail to improve is the lack of spicy salsas at a place named Salsa's. The spicy salsa that was brought to us was more of a paste and it seemed to be mixed with mole, giving it a smoky flavor that was a bit too heavy for the food we had. I ordered a portabello and cheese empanada plate. The empanadas are made with a homemade tortilla and deep fried. They have just the right amount of filling and are just the right amount of crispy. I managed to eat one and was full enough to take the second one home. The portions here are substantial enough to share and/or save for leftovers. My dad ordered a shredded beef chimichanga which was stuffed full of the shredded beef. He really need a steak knife to help him cut it, which they unfortunately did not have, but still he enjoyed the flavorful meet and dough. My sister was surprised by a humongous taco salad and ate more than planned. The place itself is clean with a nice exposed brick decor. They have a good drink menu to accompany the plates. I was mind blown by the interior, it has got to be the most beautiful looking Mexican restaurant I've seen yet in Fresno, and when Im referring to beautiful Im not referring to the table and chairs they are currently using probably bought at some auction selling tacky things from the 1970s and 1980s; Im rather referring to to the texture of the old style bricked up walls, the tall ceiling with wood work above my head, it felt very old western- I just wished the owners would add real nice dark wood tables closely reflecting their Mexican roots, those deep dark wood with those tiled tables glittered with Mexican eclectic art would have been more appropriate than those tacky table and chairs for the 70's I had one order of Camarron Calliente $16.99 to go - it was basically Large Shrimp/Prawns cooked in a hot spicy red salsa sauce; the taste was a serious bomb ! The spiciness, tanginess, and mashup of flavor from onions and chilies really created a heavenly explosion in my mouth. I really love how the 8 jumbo pieces of shrimp was perfectly grilled and lightly cooked in the sauce, it had really nice flavors and it was juicy and plum a sign of perfectly cooked shrimp. The sides of refried beans and rice was a perfect compliment to this dish; the refried beans has got to be the best I've tasted so far and had great flavors of basic spice like cumin, it was perfectly mashed, the smoothness was similar to mash potatoes, yet it was denser because these were beans. The rice was seriously fluffy, and had great flavors from chilies and tomatoes that was cooked with it. The only complaint I have would be the lack of Salad or vegetable that comes with this pricey meal, it would have justified the price for me, if it came with salad too. The service was actually really good ! The server was friendly, smiled and was efficient. I ordered my to-go inside the restaurant and it was ready in less than 10 minutes, now thats efficiency. Although pricier than most Mexican restaurant this place is worth a is it for their homemade style Mexican food paired with such a gorgeous old western interior. read more
