Salsas has been one of our favorite restaurants for years, and we eat there at least once a week. It is by far the best Mexican food in the Valley! We especially love the homemade tortillas, enchilada sauce, carnitas burrito, rice, salsas tacos, fajitas, and empanadas. We seriously crave it all the time! What really makes Salsas special, though, is the service. The staff feels like family -- they are always so friendly, welcoming, and quick with service and recommendations. One of the servers even helped my child, who normally doesn't like Mexican food, find something she would enjoy. They recommended the empanadas, and now she loves them! I have always loved this place. At least twice a month we order dinner from here, about once a month we order their appetizer/party tray and twice a year we go in and enjoy a wonderful dinner. Today I called and was put on hold. They left me on hold for over 15 minutes. Honestly, I figured they forgot me so I hung up and tried to call back, they turned off their phones. I got a Verizon Wireless message that my call couldn't be completed as dialed. So, just to be on the safe side, I tried the other two phones in the house. They put me on hold and then turned off their phones. They just lost my business, I don't care how good their empanadas are... done. ***UPDATE*** They reached out to me privately and have made it right. I've been wanting to try Salsa's Cantina in Clovis for a while, and this past weekend I finally got the chance while I was in the area. The place is super spacious, which I liked right away. When I walked in, I headed straight to the bar and grabbed a seat. I ordered a strawberry margarita and it was so good.. They also bring out chips and salsa, and the chips were nice and warm, which I always appreciate. For food, I went with the chicken nachos with fries. Honestly, the chicken was kind of bland and didn't have much flavor. The nachos and fries were just okay. I've definitely had better elsewhere. But I will say, the salsa they serve with the chips helped a lot. I threw that on top and it made everything taste way better. Overall, the place was just alright to me. The dude and I came to Salsas as a few colleagues recommended it. We heard so many great things about how the food and drinks and had to try it. To start, I really enjoyed the chips and salsa, which is refreshing as they were complementary as nowadays some places charge for chips and salsa. Not here! The salsa is rich in flavor along with the addictive chips! Pairs well. We came about an hour before closing so was pretty empty qnd a large party just finished as we were being seated . I ended up getting the chile relleno plate. The Dude got the fajitas. I was able to try some of the vegetables of the fajitas which was packed full of flavor and crunch as sometimes overcooked vegetables can be very mushy. My plate can't go wrong at all. Loved the flavors and large portion sizes! Even the small salad was tasty. I ended up getting a blended cocktail. They are huge and it was a struggle for me to finish it. And that's a good thing as they are not skimping you out on the portion here. The staff was very friendly and enjoyable. Overall, we had a lovely time here. The food was tasty. First off, the wait staff is delightful at a mid-week lunch. Gracious service. Immediate greeting. Care and attention to requests. I was delighted to learn they make their own tortillas. I ordered what they call "taco salad" with carnitas. It was served in a large fried tortilla, reminding me of a chalupa served for decades at El Toro Tambien which we have not been able to find since ET closed up shop. The carnitas surprised me...large chunks of pork, but cooked well. The room is large, and if it got crowded, might be noisy what with hard surfaces and high ceilings, but for a mid-week lunch, the ambiance was just fine for conversation. read more

My favorite place to get a hot bowl of Albondigas! The vegetables were tender and flavorful. There were five meatballs, three corn tortillas, and the right amount of rice nd cabbage to fill it in. The chips are crunchy and fresh. The taco salad, which my honey ate, was filling and delicious. Our service was friendly and quick. The restaurant was nicely decorated with twinkling lights and a football game showing. Clovis-I was really missing Mex food, living in Florida, so we went to a local favorite in town. They did not disappoint!! Although the Cadillac margaritas were on the watered down weaker side, the specialty Chile Rellenos were SPECTACULAR!! We each tried a different style of the good ol Chile Rellenos! Rellenos De Queso with added beef. Rellenos De Mar and Rellenos De Res. All three were so packed full of delicious that we were raving for the rest of the night! The grilled shrimp were good perfectly with a bit of char on them. There were raisins and pecans on top of the Rellenos Res, they were chef's kiss! Portions are large with amazing beans and rice. Service was good but not overly attentive. Definitely will return when I'm back in California! read more

I'd come back just for the homemade tortillas and empanadas. I ordered the chile rellano plate. This pepper was stuffed with cheese, ground beef, and came with a side of tortillas. I thought this was weird, but once I tried these flour tortillas I was blown away. These were so good, that when I shared a bite with my wife, she immediately ordered two more... and then order another two for the road. They make all of their tortillas and empanadas dough in house! My sure Chile relleno was amazing and even though I was trying to get full, I ate the entire plate, which was massive! My wife loved her empanadas and my son especially loved his pozole. You can tell a Mexican restaurant is legit, by two different ways: 1) Their tortillas. Which I already said were amazing. 2) They're salsas and chile aka hot sauce. Salsa's hot sauce and salsa were both incredible. I couldn't stop eating the salsa that came with their chips and I asked for an extra side of their verde hot sauce. All of it was fantastic! This is a good spot for Mexican food in the Clovis area. Located in the main town area, it has ample street parking and dining tables. Out of the seven or so items we tried, the albondigas soup (though small for the price) was great and the carne asada quesadilla was good, as was the salsa. The enchilada sauce was oddly thick and the cheese inside was not melted. The chile verde was comically salty. The ground beef was tasteless, as was the rice. The refried beans were grainy. The shredded beef taco was ok, but in a pool of water. We came here for lunch. It's a family owned restaurant. Its decor was chic in black and gold w/exposed brick walls and metal cutout art. The women's restroom was nice and clean. Anyhow, we were greeted and seated right away by a friendly staff member. I had the Carnitas w/flour tortillas, hubby had the Relleno de Mar also w/flour tortillas, and daughter had the ground beef enchiladas. Hubby and I were surprised by the white Spanish rice! I was a little concerned, but my fear was unfounded as it was very flavorful! The refried beans were delicious, too! My carnitas were tender and also very flavorful. Went in over the weekend. It seemed a little unorganized. We had to ask for silverware multiple times. We had about 4 different waiters come to the table which felt odd to me. The owner also came to our table but was nice. My sister was brought the wrong order which we declined but then a different waitress brought it out again and we declined it again she told us "well that's what I heard" when we all heard what was ordered clearly. I ordered a margarita & chimichanga it was good but the wait for our food was so long. What a weird experience. Had to sit for about 20 minutes before a server talked to us. We asked repeatedly and were told that the server "left and will be right back." Only one person in the restaurant could take our order? We finally ordered (without any apology for taking 20 minutes). Luckily the food was good! We were offered a special salsa, though no one ever delivered it, and then our check wasn't what we expected, there were fees for things like homemade tortillas that they didn't tell us about when we ordered them. We have been here several times and every time we wait well over 20 minutes for a waiter to come to the table. They never comeback after giving you your meal to check on you, provide refills, nothing. Terrible customer service from majority of the wait staff here. Most are not personable. We continue going back for the food, but always come prepared to wait and have bad service. Yesterday I placed an order for my family totaling $70, and today I returned with another order of $92. This second order was especially important, as it was a special request for my dad who had just gotten out of the hospital and really enjoys their soup. Unfortunately, the customer service I experienced today was extremely disappointing. When I walked in, I stood at the front for about two minutes without being greeted. The hostess saw me but chose to continue cleaning before finally asking what I needed. After I told her I had a pickup order, she directed me to the bar without offering further assistance. At the bar, I was not acknowledged for several minutes. The hostess briefly returned, spoke to other staff, and left again. Meanwhile, multiple waitresses walked back and forth without acknowledging me at all. After waiting about 10 minutes, someone finally handed me my order with no greeting, no apology for the wait, and no basic customer service--just "there you go." Given that I've spent over $150 there in two days, I expected a much higher level of service. This experience was disappointing, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

It's plain to see racism was the motivating factor of such undeserving treatment towards two human beings. They don't deserve a rating, they don't even deserve to be in operation. Food was all delicious! So happy we tried this place. They now serve breakfast so we tried it out. I ordered a traditional American meal of 2 fried eggs, hash browns with 3 sausage links & toast. Hubby ordered Pozole. Looked great. Hubby said he thinks it's the best he's ever had! Both corn and flour tortillas are home made. Our waiter Anthony was kind, attentive a joy to talk to. My husband and I ALWAYS enjoy our meals at Salsa's. The service is great, the updated Ambiance makes it easier for conversation, and the food is always FANTASTIC. I love their stuffed Chile Rellenos and Empanadas as those are not frequently on menus elsewhere. And their homemade Gorditas are to die for! Salsa's is the only place in town that I actually enjoy the "Spanish" rice! It is not what is traditional in other Mexican food restaurants which makes it unique. It is light and flavorful. Loved the vibe at Salsa's Cantina -- the place has a great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The chips and salsa were good, and the Salsa's margarita was even better. Our food was tasty too, no complaints there. The only downside was the service. It felt slow and kind of disorganized, and we honestly didn't know who our server was until halfway through dinner. The blonde girl (who wasn't even our server) was super helpful though, so shoutout to her for stepping in! I will likely return but I hope the service improves between now and then. I was out and about and stumbled on this place with friends that are locals. We walked in and the host seated us. We sat down and had chips and salsa to start. Of all my chips and salsa experience I'd put this salsa on the top three of my list in life! This salsa was so fresh and tasty. Not too fine and not too chunky. Just right! We had the queso fondue and my mind was blown away. Not from the queso. The cut tortillas around the bowl brought me back to my childhood. I want to say the world Sonoran style tortillas but I don't know if that's correct. These tortillas are epic and accurate! The flavor and flour to oil ratio with the little cooked notes brought the queso to life. I wanted a dozen tortillas to go! I had a burrito and it was good. Not dry or flavorless. It was a safe burrito to eat but I wasn't that impressed. Beans and rice are simple and typical of a Mexican restaurant. The service was ok. The bussers were more interactive than the server. Shout out to this guys running around taking care of the tables and refilling drinks! It wasn't too loud in there. There seems to be enough room for more tables in there unless the fire code restricts it. The bathroom was clean and presentable and that made a nice impression.
