I frequent this bar a lot, I always loved the music and the vibe was always very chill. The drinks have always been great and I spend a lot of money there. I also tip the bartenders very well because I'm in the biz. I went in on Sunday night, I ride a Hayabusa Motorcycle and you can always see it parked out front. Last night, Sunday, I was meeting my girl there, she came in with her three sisters from Visalia. When she got there, the security guard told her to watch out for the guy on the motorcycle because he takes girls home all the time and doesn't come back??? Wtf?? that security guard I don't even know who he is. I work at a bar in another spot So I am very social with everybody. My girl came in and told me what he said. I'm just really pissed right now!! I don't know if he's got me mistaken with somebody else, but I've never even talked to that security guard with the beard and the cowboy hat.. Your security shouldn't be talking shit about your patrons especially the ones that are always there putting money into your place, and always recommending you to his friends. Don't ask for water here they want to charge u then say they have water free but the igloo is empty. Thank you to the stranger that paid but fuck that bartender she was an asshole stating we dont allow cups to go yet clearly they had cups next to the igloo that was empty! Make that make sense! Was kicked out when my brothers and sister in law came in. We didn't drink, barely came in and ordered some drinks. A yt snatch my phone out of my hands and I demanded he return it to me. Got into an argument, we get kicked out when clearly this yt guy is drunk. Getting label and told to leave by yt security. Came here back when it was Henry's. Good times. Now, it looks like a political rally surrounded by cheap cabin wood and Christmas lights. Security was an affable, approachable bloke. There was no music which made the ambience depressing. Bartender. Terrible. Her tattoos were more busy than helping me get a drink. I watched for over 5 minutes as she commiserated with one customer. She tossed one look at me, holding cash and went back to her conversation. Her transactionless engagement with a bar patron caused my friends and I to leave. Won't be back. I frequent this bar for karaoke, and the DJ, security, and bartenders have always been nice and respectful to me. I'm a smaller guy who has a history of being ignored by bar staff, so it feels nice to be seen and treated kindly. I'm not crazy about many of the patrons, but that isn't a reflection on the establishment itself. read more

***NOT SAFE FOR FEMALES!!!*** Not worth risking your well-being or spending your money here when there are other great bars in Clovis. First, let me start by saying I have never left a negative review but felt compelled to write one after two terrible experiences at the 5th involving - not patrons - but security guards that put me and my girlfriends in danger. It's their job to help patrons feel safe not make them feel like they're in danger. The reviews below are 100% accurate of the environment here. There was one security guard in particular - Ed, the Hot Head who literally runs up on and screams at girls for no reason. I was literally taken back by how aggressive and rude he was unprovoked. This man has personal anger management issues and positions like this attract narcissists like him who need some sort of power or control. It is a DOOR sir - if you are unhappy this is the height of your career, get a different job. Two other girls - not in my group - and I brought this up to the Manager, who another security guard says was one of the owners, Danielle, while we were there. I explained I was the designated driver and was 100% sober so I could attest that the only person acting inappropriately was her employee. Nothing was done by management, he was not removed from his post and on our way out he spat profanities at us and said he didn't care that we had talked to the manager - no respect for her. I was born and raised in Clovis. I support our businesses here and want them to be successful. This type of behavior brings shame to our little town and the fact that people have obviously had the same experiences shows that the business does not take its patrons' feedback seriously - The 5th gets 1/5th Star Review, less if it were an option on Yelp. This place is not what it used to be. There is a $10 cover charge. The ambiance is sketchy. Security is busy mingling with the crowd instead of doing their job. One of them was recording videos of people dancing. I asked for 2 beers only, but bartender charged me $35. Instead of returning my money, she handed me to 2 shots. I was enjoying myself and the atmosphere but when I looked at my receipts I noticed Janae the bartender added a 7.00 tip. I had given her a $6.00 cash tip and put 0 on my receipts and signed. Idk if this is a regular occurrence my bank can't do anything so I'm basically screwed I don't give a $13.00 tip especially when I got up and got my own drinks. I would have no complaints, however there is a bouncer here that causes a lot of issues and is unnecessarily aggressive. After my experiences with this bouncer, I have asked other people about their experience here, and many people have had weird experiences with the bouncers here as well. So this is my experience: ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS BACK TO BACK, I had minor disagreements with someone where a couple of words were exchanged, but nothing came out of it. I'm a calm and peaceful guy, there was no yelling, or cussing, just a level headed conversation about a disagreement. Both times this has happened, the bouncer walked right up to me, grabbed me and dragged me out of the bar, throwing me in the bushes. The 2nd time, I was wearing a $120 pair of dress pants as I had just got off work. The bouncer never had a conversation with me prior, never asked what the problem was, and never tried to have a conversation about the situation. Furthermore, he never asked me to leave at my own discretion. He literally just grabbed me and threw me in the bushes without saying a word. I am a pretty big guy, about 6 foot 6, so I wonder if he profiled me because of my size. I have heard similar stories from people of minority groups, which makes me think this bouncer is just prejudiced and defaults as an angry person who is just looking for problems. Mind you, the issues I had were no big deal and everybody would have continued going about their business with no issue. This bouncer turned it into something way bigger than it was. The 2nd time, I even had about 5 police officers follow me in their cars as I walked away from the bar, so I'm assuming they called the police on me as well. Hole in the walls or dive bars always have an interesting dichotomy when it comes to daytime and nighttime operations. During the day the 5th is a relatively mellow environment usually filled with an older crowd or people just getting off of work. The friendly day time bartenders are more relaxed and at ease in reflection of the crowd that populates the bar at that time. As the day progresses and the night shift clock in, a younger crowd starts to trickle in replacing the day crowd. A second bartender and security comes on, to help deal with a burgeoning crowd. On the weekends often a DJ will be brought in to help keep the crowd entertained and attract more business, usually leading to even a larger crowd. If you've ever worked in the industry you know how stressful working those shifts can be, either as security or a bartender. Sometimes mistakes happen, but more often than not people neglect to give a full accounting of the situation. I love the 5th, and while I usually go more during the day, I have gone in on a number of occasions during the evening and found most of the staff to be friendly and professional even given the stress inducing crowds. This place normally closes at two and when I went there tonight, they were yelling at everybody to get out at 1. It's like they forget to set their clocks back for daylight savings and everybody was pissed. They also said they already did last call without actually announcing it and then not even 5 minutes after they said everyone had to get out and yelling while everyone still had to close their tabs. I have been here a few times and enjoyed myself, I was having a good time with my friends on Saturday and then around closing time a bouncer in thick black framed glasses came up to me and my friend and started to scream at us to leave. We told him we were leaving and just waiting for our friend to close out her tab. He proceeded to get more aggressive with us and even pushed my friend. I had to drag her out of there out of fear that this man was going to get physical with us. Other people that we knew there came up to us and told us that they were scared he was going to do something crazy. Mind you there were still people in the bar he had just decided to target the only group of all girls. He was screaming at us to leave and we told him we didn't want to leave our friend and he insisted that she would be safe in there alone... I didn't feel safe due to the way that he was getting so aggressive to me and my friends. After kicking us out another man went up to the bouncer and told him he was out of line for the way he treated us, the bouncer was quick to apologize to that man but not to us. read more
