I've been coming out to Frank's Place for years. I didn't know if they'd make it through the pandemic since their events were hit and miss for about a year before. "Back in the day," I've come to see a huge variety of shows. I hope they get to that point again with good attendance since this space is pretty large and open. This is a pretty old building pretty much next door to Warnors Theater. It's showing some wear, I felt bad for the old bar top that is really scraped and scuffed (and sticky). but this is still a decent place for shows or to rent for events. It can feel empty if there aren't a lot of people. Our last two visits were to hear music, both times really good - DJ Mr Leonard about a month ago and then The Box playing live with local artists Hope Garcia and Ben Napoles. Both times music was great and I had so much fun dancing .... But there was hardly anyone in attendance! Just crazy. My biggest complaint is that they rarely have any good beers. And the draft beer tastes ... off. The other thing is the drinks are inconsistent. So I stick to simple here; jack and coke, etc. and that's kind of a bummer. *however,* I can get a simple (and large) drink of say, Tanqueray or Courvesior with soda for just $8. I'll take it! Last night they were serving tacos for cheap, which was nice - we bought another round with them so also smart lol. And bartenders have always been friendly, no assholes. Well.. first time here, came to check out Rick Estrin & the boys..nice big room , but no designated area for dancing, sound & lights seemed to be an issue too.. I think it could set up differently, too much wasted space.. drinks were nice & cold.. I've seen Rick before & the sound was not dialed in like it should be..maybe I'll try another event.. read more

Had a great time at Frank's Place. We got tickets to see Led Zepagain. Best Led Zeppelin cover band, they were great. Drinks were real good and service was excellent. The ambiance was comfortable, clean and felt safe. I must say that the stage was small for a band to move around and rock out. read more

I've only been to Frank's Place during Art Hop nights the last few years and it's always a great place to stop. Friendly bartenders, full bar and some craft brews on tap. They always have an artist's work on display, last month it was an installation by local high school students-very cool! I like the large space, lots of tables to spread out or high top tables to stand/sit closer to the bar. Good place to sit and enjoy some Art Hop food from the many food trucks parked right outside. read more

I went to the Morrissey "after party." There were fliers up at every bar in the theater advertising for the after party. Too bad it ended quickly and abruptly when there were major plumbing problems in both restrooms. Because of the plumbing issues, the bar was hastily closed although many of us still had full drinks. The communication between employees (were they closing or not) was poor, creating a lot of confusion. I was allowed to buy one more round for my group, but then we were forced to "chug" it down while standing at the door with the bouncers rushing us. I know plumbing problems are out of the control of the employees, and getting drunks to go home is a challenge, so offering 3 stars is me granting grace. Regardless, the whole thing was a pretty big bummer. I was excited to party downtown since I rarely do, and although the concert was phenomenal (Morrissey is GREAT! And Warnor's is awesome!) the after party at Frank's was a real let down. read more

I'd give them no stars!!! Super bad at communicating when event happens, lack of care if we just stand outside or not

Went before the Air Supply Little River Band concert next door. Was a quick visit, I bought one drink each for me and my Finance. The total was $22.00. I got Charged $22.00, $23.63 and $13.36 for 3 separate charges. I have called and messaged, my fiancé has called and messaged and nobody has responded. It has been weeks. I will never go back again. The watered down drinks were definitely not worth $11.00 each and the experience was a rip off ... LITERALLY THEY RIPPED ME OFF! read more

If this was just a bar, it would probably get 3 stars. Drinks aren't particularly reasonable, layout of the building is kinda fuckin weird with a hell of a lot of wasted space it seems... HOWEVER... Every Friday night, they have different comedians come through and as far as I know, it's the ONLY place in Fresno to regularly do so and that goes a long way with me. Hell, I used to go to Thai Palms back in the day, with their crappy food and bougie crowd to catch comedy shows- so I'm glad somewhere else is finally bringing them back. Like one of my new favorite comedians put it, the place looks like an old, haunted hotel and you can almost feel the ghosts floating around jerking off on top of you (credit to Sam Tripoli for that one, please don't sue me.) Bartenders are pretty cool, and there was a tv showing the Giants/Dodgers game at the bar while I got there for the most recent show I went to, so I watched some of the game before it started. Talent level of the comedians kinda varies. The first show I saw had great opening acts, one even upstaged the headliner as far as I was concerned. Tonight's headliner though was fucking amazing, and the headliners were pretty mediocre I felt- I think they were local talent. The host is always the same guy, Chris Cruz I think is his name. He repeats most of his same jokes, which kinda had me worried we'd be getting the same opening acts- but luckily nah, different group each time. Frank's Place has a cool partnership with A1 Night Stand Taco Truck. The truck is parked right out front all night for the shows, and they have menus on every table (which have table numbers) so you can call in or text your order and they'll bring it right there to your table. I really hope Fresno supports this place and what they're trying to do. We don't have any comedy clubs, so I hope they keep this up every Friday to a good-sized crowd like they have been. read more

Completely dishonest management. Don't even consider hosting a serious event here. Prices change managers lie there is a very good reason they are constantly available. Management team isn't fit to run a bus stop let alone a historic theater. Such a shame to squander such a beautiful venue. read more

OMG Friday nights have been dedicated to Comedy Hop. It has been a fun and great Friday go to place. They have a beautiful full bar, all staff is so gracious and pleasant! By word of mouth the place is getting packed. Eric Schwartz was soooo funny, I hope they bring back soon. Please believe come out Friday's!! Come at 8 have a couple of drinks and show starts at 9. Alima booked my girlfriend to do a night of face painting for $100 on Nov 1st 2018, the day before day of the dead. While she face painted I stood at the bar with cash in hand and watched the bartender serve everyone there as he literally ignored me. He then re-served some of the same people after they finished their drinks, while I stood their looking dumb. Not a big deal, I just left. However, when it came time to pay my girlfriend, Alima gave her the run-around and never paid her! My girlfriend tried contacting Alima 5 different times and she never came through. Which is a shame because my girlfriend is a very talented artist and did a beautiful job painting the staffs faces. We believe in Downtown Fresno.. just not Frank's Place, because it sucks hard eggs. read more

Franks Place is great local club. It's located in the Warnors Theater Bldg. I actually stumbled upon this place a few nights ago. A friend of mine was one of the band members playing that night. I went alone but didn't feel out of place like I would most places. The club is very spacious and the atmosphere was comfortable and laid-back. Apparently they showcase live local entertainment on Thurs, Fri. & Sat. nights! I had a great time and plan on going back! read more

Love this spot.Great place, staff is super cool. Love to go there for drinks and conversation when there's no acts performing. Music and comedy acts have been all good so far. Wish the bar aspect would expand a little more, does seem to have some wasted space. Could use more seating. Also love the fact profits go to the Downtown Benefit. read more
