Found this spot on TikTok. I was trying to find a nice bar to visit. This bar caught my eye. I was avoiding the crowd and came around opening time on a Tuesday. Frank was tending and did an amazing job. I wanted to try new drinks, but not sure where to start. Frank gave great recommendations. The Pepina was my favorite I ordered it twice. A cucumber pineapple based cocktail. The inside of the bar is decorated beautifully with photos along all the walls, bathrooms are clean. They have a stage for live performances by bands. Seating off to the side if you don't want to sit directly at the bar. Returned a second time on a busier night, staff is friendly, drinks are being made promptly, crowds is lowkey chill vibes. This is a really nice bar to come with friends or even with your man. It's pretty chill. The bartenders are nice and attentive. You can even have small chats with them. There's a dance floor and even an area to play a game. I'm not exactly sure what game it is.. but there is a game table. There's a cute mirror hall leading up to the restrooms. I forgot ol girl name that helped us out but she did a great job with any questions we had about the drinks on the menu. They even have a Russian roulette spinner if you're feeling ballsy and want to take a random shot. The whole bar area is a vibe and the inside is gorgeous! read more

This place is a NEW favorite in the old Tower District that I have a place in my retired party girl heart. All crafted drinks by the mixologists here. They're nice and sweet, the favorite would have to be Emilio, he's such a cool dude. The ladies love the curls and it's fun watching them go goo goo gah gah for him. I've been here twice and have had a great time here. It's definitely a nice venue and clean. The bar in the center is the main event in that room. It's lit well and easy to access to sit or stand and order a drink: service was very quick for how busy it was. There's another area to the left of the entrance that has a staging area and more seating. I don't know about the food scene. Music is a vibe and the price point is perfect for these libations. had a great time tonight at the Yelp Badge Day Bash at the Howlin' Wolf! what a great little bar with tons of character and charm in the heart of the Tower District. the service was superb the Bar tenders were amazing mixologists! they were all very friendly. food was catered by India's oven which is located directly across the parking lot. that Butter chicken was to die for! and the samosas were great also. But upon entry, you are immediately greeted and invited into a bar which hold many vintage looking decor! What a beautiful bar and venue! Very cool place I really liked the decor and how they decorated for Christmas with a tree and lights. It's very open and spacious as well you can definitely have a big group of people here. They also have live bands and musicians that come in which is why I went last night. I sat at the bar with a friend not knowing how cold it would be without a jacket on. The door opened so much and tipzys next door had so many bikers outside that were smoking weed and it was coming inside the place. The drinks were good, the service was ehhh 50/50 the guy that was helping us seemed frazzled and really overwhelmed by the amount of orders that were coming in. They did have Santa crawl yesterday and were not prepared for the amount of foot traffic in there. They had 3 bartenders, and a guy who I'm guessing was the bar back? Not really sure because he doesn't know how to use a 3 container sink, he's really slow at washing in general to the point they were using flutes to put an espresso martini in. There was a Hindu man I'm not sure what he doesn't there but you can tell he was just in the way and pissing off the bartender that was in front of us. He also took my friends to drinks for some odd reason without even asking. I had to tell him that was her cocktail and I need that back. I don't understand why we're taking things without asking??? He's also extremely rude there were customers that had paid and they told him to keep the change for a tip and he literally threw it on the counter and said leave it there. I was a little shocked at why he did that when they have a tip jar on the counter. The bathrooms were a wreck, no one was maintaining them throughout the night either. I went on a Saturday evening around 6-7 PM and it was an okay vibe. I didn't have high expectations -- this is Fresno, after all. I was the only black woman (and black person) in the building the entire time I was there & I didn't stuck out like a sore thumb w/o trying to. The bartenders were cool. I had wine and each glass was about $13. It was a house wine which was quality if I say so myself. Wow, wow, wow, I still can't say enough about how much we like Howlin Wolf! This art-deco cocktail bar in the Tower District is top-notch, definitely one of the best (if not the very best) cocktail bars in Fresno. Ambiance here is amazing. Not only is the art-deco theme really cool, but they incorporate lots of old Fresno memorabilia and nostalgia. There's a whole wall of old Fresno photos that really brought back memories. Tables are comfy, as is the actual bar. The service was fast and friendly, we had our drinks within 15 minutes of sitting down. My partner ordered a mocktail of a French 75, and she said it was one of the best she's had. My holiday-themed old fashioned was absolutely perfect and probably the best holiday drink I had this December (and that includes visiting bars in Los Angeles and Minneapolis); it had just the right amount of holiday spices and the perfect amount of sweetness. All in all, top marks here. Prices are also right on par (if not a bit low) for what you get here (in that they aren't necessarily cheap for Fresno, but the ambiance and drinks are worth every penny). I can't wait to visit this place again, it's a real Fresno gem. read more

We stopped by for a couple drinks in the late afternoon, and loved the ambience of the place, everything from the artwork and decor with animals, music events, icons, and instruments on display, to the helmets on the wall under dim purplish lighting, and even a couple shuffleboard tables near the bar. We enjoyed some live music around 5pm, Sunday Jam led by Bobby Griffin. The sound system was a bit loud and not the best, but the musicians were good, and performed hits like Fly Me to the Moon. For drinks, we had the buffalo trace old fashioned, fruit salad (a tasty strawberry and lemon flavored cocktail), and pear-adice lemon drop, all of which were pretty good. The service was great, many staff members and bartenders available to ensure minimal wait times, and they were friendly as well, checking on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. There's a small parking lot outside shared with neighboring businesses, though it was a bit full when we visited, so I'm not sure how busy it gets here since I'm not from the area. read more

Decided to check this place out before heading to a comedy show at the Tower Theatre. The inside decor is pretty cool and the craft drink selections are pretty good. Wish we had time to stay for more than one drink as the guy behind the bar suggested a few things while the lady making our drinks must have been new because we saw her reading the recipes. Love this bar- it sets itself apart from the rest. It feels like you're stepping back into time, I love all the meticulous details in the interior space. The service is top notch. Classy bartenders that know their craft. My go-to is the French 75. I've had many in town and theirs is the best! If you follow them on instagram you can see that they tend to have mostly live bands as opposed to djs which I'm not mad at. The last band they had sang hits from the 70s-90s. You can also bring your own food in here if you would like since they only offer cocktails and beer. I am not one to frequent bars but this is a must for anyone to try-it's always a treat coming here! read more

Man was really hoping I loved this place. Overall the decor is spot on. Staff, however is not. They were extremely rude and were getting annoyed with how busy it was and they kept making remarks that we needed to keep moving yet no seats were open and they were still were allowing a huge line in the door. Looking for an upscale cocktail bar in town? One that doesn't feel like Fresno? :) The Howlin' Wolf is the place!. The interior is really well executed with mirrored door frames, huge gallery wall, art pieces and whimsical mosaic tile. The bar has very moody lighting (read, dark!) which makes it perfect for date night! House made simple syrups and top shelf liquor combined with skilled bartenders leads to deliciously crafted cocktails. We tried a few and even tested the bartender with a couple of off menu choices and they all came out perfectly balanced. There is no food available at the bar but you can bring in whatever you like. The staff recommended the taco place right next door and it was super easy to pop over, order and the lovely restaurant staff brought our food over to us. Parking at The Howlin' Wolf can be limited, just like anywhere in The Tower, but since you'll be drinking, you're better off with Uber or Lyft. Side note: There's live music and salsa dancing on Thursday night. read more

Drinks were solid, and the prices were decent. The interior is dimly lit. The decorations are unique and the aesthetic of the place has a retro feel to it. This bar is attached to a tiny parking lot with other restaurants/businesses nearby so parking can be tricky. Service was on the slower end, even though the place was pretty much empty when we went. I've been here a numerous times now and I think this last time I went was probably the best time! Usually the live music is super loud but this time it wasn't! I was able to talk to the people around me and wasn't hard to hear them. The interior decor is awesome here. Neon lights towards the back of the room where there are some chairs and tables. The servers will come take your order or you can go to the bar and order as well. The service here is always good. Our server was really nice and even gave us some beads. The Mardi Gras parade had just happened. All the drinks I've ordered here, I've liked. It's never been a disappointment. I ordered the winter flower from their signature menu, and it was delicious. I've been here twice in the past month in a half-ish and have really enjoyed myself. Super cool vibe. The neon lights, motorcycle, booths, pretty bar area, fun mirror decor...I love it all. A great place to start your night in tower if you're looking for a good drink before ordering vodka tonics the rest of the night ;) one downside is...it's LOUD. Like really loud, they usually have live music which is so fun however trying to have a conversation is next to impossible if you're not there strictly to listen to the bands. Service, has been good, can't complain. Drinks come out pretty quick and bar tenders seem alright! Drinks are good, I haven't ventured out as much as I'd like but hey have to leave room to look forward to something new. Overall cool spot, I like it and I'll be back again in the future. read more

I was so amazed by the beautiful decor inside. This is the most breath taking interior ever! Not only is it eye catching but their service is welcoming as well. Try to sit at the bar for your first experience and introduce yourself as a first timer and they will take care of you. Service is so important and I give them 5/5 for service at the bar. These weirdos wanted $300 payment just to seat a table of 10 guests when I asked for a reservation. I asked what the $300 would cover, as in, "is this a down pymt for drinks and food, or what? What does the $300 pay for?" Their answer: "to be seated at the tables." What? Where do you think you are? What kind of establishment do you think you're running? Absolutely loved this bar! The stars must have aligned because I went during Christmas in July and was in love with all of it. The environment was so fun, the bartenders were so friendly and fun, and they made yummy drinks! We travel from Oakland to visit family in the Fresno area every few weeks and have to come to realize The Howlin Wolf is one of our favorite spots. The decor is a wow for us. It's art deco, quirky, grand, glamorous, motorcycle-ish, Fillmore poster-ish, eclectic, creative and it doesn't feel cheap or thrown together. It's well thought through making the experience memorable and special. The bartenders are all very nice and professional. We have only gone early before the nightlife starts but got a glimpse of how busy it can be when they have a live show on the line up. Lines form outside and people seem excited to get inside. A unique menu of cocktails is offered. I only drink wine and the selections are minimal on the wine list but the Sav Blanc is fine. It's dry which is all I want! The place is very clean too. It doesn't smell like a bar that that gets ammonia sprayed nightly! It's a classy place. We'll be back. Hopefully one night I can make it to karaoke!!! read more
