Enchiladas without cheese :) their sauce is the best!

Mama Iguanas may have a new name, but it's still the same great owner! The restaurant recently got a bit of a facelift with fresh paint and an updated interior, and it feels bright, clean, and really refreshing while still keeping that fun Mexican restaurant vibe. The food is consistently delicious and comes out fast, which I always appreciate. Our orders have always been correct, and their chips and salsa are hard to beat. One of my favorite parts is the bar scene. The bar area is lively and a great place to hang out with friends, watch a game, and enjoy a drink. It has a really fun atmosphere. The staff is another huge plus. Many of the servers have been there forever, and you can tell. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and know the menu inside and out. And Susie, the owner, is incredibly sweet and personable. She really makes you feel welcome and it's clear she cares about her customers and the experience people have when they come in. If you haven't checked out Mama's since the refresh, it's definitely worth stopping by!

Ordered on doordash. It was not good but not bad either. I wish the chili verde was more spicy for sure and also more juicy. I've never had such a Dry wet burrito which does not even make sense. This tastes like Bobby salazars and I was really not impressed.

Good chips and salsa!

Awesome dinner! We've eaten here over the years and have always had great experiences. Recent name change, but they're still the SAME people, staff and food items!!! The owner is a long time restaurateur and knows how Mexican dishes should be made! Cute interior, all decorated for Christmas with a Snoopy theme. I was craving an old favorite (a fancy type burrito), but I couldn't decide between the chili verde or chili con carne. Our amazing server solved that issue for me and let me have it half and half! Oh, so good! The chips and salsa are very tasty there and service was impeccable. Even though there were several Mexican eateries closer to home, a visit to Mama Iguana's was definitely worth the little road trip. Oh, they have a big enclosed patio for bigger groups, too!

Top shelf margarita! Chips and salsa doesn't get any better than this. I am very happy and I'll be back again.

Chips are fresh and warm while the salsa is spicy and fresh. Top shelf, Paloma margarita taste like summer.

Halloween Decorations in Lobby

Food was pretty delicious, but the salsa was a little off and the chips were awfully greasy. Possibly a new batch that didn't drain for long enough? Lacking in some needed seasoning for most of the dish, but the limes were ripe and juicy adding a flavorful layer! Everyone was very kind and upbeat! Excellent service! However, the food took a very long time to show up. I don't know if it was because of my dish or not, but the wait became concerning after a while. The place as per usual is nice and clean, but the added Halloween decorations were an excellent addition! We go here now and then. It is missing that memorable factor to be a favorite, especially with the higher quality Mexican restaurants in the area.

My dinner came with 1.5 oz of steak. Yes, I weighed it because I was shocked at how small it was.

I will not be ordering from this location -- or Bobby Salazar's -- again. The short rib dinner is no longer on the menu, and my $19 carne asada dinner was sorely lacking in carne. The serving of steak was an ounce and a half -- I weighed it because I was in disbelief at how small it was. The enchilada was soggy from swimming in sauce. Ugh.

This was not a good Michelada. Maybe the bartender had the day off.
Mike S.

The service was slow, the michelada was not good at all. The wife had tacos and they were not good. Some sort of weird, rubbery olives. I had the burrito bowl, which was pretty decent. Overall, Bobby Salazar's continues to disappoint..

I don't think I've ever felt betrayed by Yelp reviews...until now…read more During a recent road trip we stopped here to picked up some lunch/dinner because tacos are quick and easy and their Yelp rating is high. Location/services: Upon entering the building I immediately noticed the heat. It was a hot 98 degree day and the restaurant felt like an oven and was maybe 3-5 degree cooler than it was outside. I then quickly noticed this was a very simple operation (almost like a food truck), and not much to the menu, but there were folks sitting and eating and a few others waiting to order, so I assumed the food must be great. We ordered 4 meals (tacos with rice/beans) which was meant to be eaten there but after waiting in line and feeling like we were in a hot box, we decided to make it to go. We sat and waited for our food (about 20 mins), we chatted and observed our surroundings and it became very apparent the restaurant was not maintained with basic cleaning because it was very grimy and just plain dirty. I then used the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Our ordered was called and the staff was very nice. The food: As I mentioned, we got 4 orders of tacos (all carne asada) with rice/beans, and we asked for salsa and limes. We got grilled jalapenos, lemons and one sandwhich baggy filled with red salsa. Not a big deal. The meat was fine but the tortillas were inedible. They were tough, flavorless, and greasy. The bean and rice were ok. We ate enough to curb our hunger but none of us finish our food. Upon my best judgement, I had convinced myself that the food was gonna be great because their Yelp rating told me so. I was so wrong! One last note, there was nothing here that resembled a bakery/panaderia. So if you think you could also grab a treat here, you are wrong.

The Chips are Casera style so very thick and crunchy. They accompany them with a small bowl of beans which is a nice touch. Their table salsa is mild so I can stomach it. I've tried the pollo ala plancha (grilled chicken plate) fajitas, sopes and Camerones al mojo de ajo ( garlic shrimp). The best for me was the asada sope. The rest were on the bland side. Beans and rice are okay. I think they just need to do better when seasoning and flavoring their dishes.

Be aware that it gets cold at night and be sure to bring a jacket. The food was just alright. The guacamole was lacking lime (served with lemon juice) and didn't have enough salt. Asked for extra limes and lemons were given. Wish they put some jalapenos as an option. The surf and turf tacos were good, but not great. Some slices of the carne asada was not sliced and had a few big pieces. It was also a bit chewy. The shrimp was large and juicy though, perfectly cooked. The sauce that came with it (orange...maybe chipotle mayo?) was objectively good on its own, but I felt like it didn't combo well with the surf and turf tacos. 3.5/5 Rice and beans were solid. 4/5 My friend ordered a michelada sampler and all four drinks came out tasting the same to me. Maybe one tasted slightly different and lighter, but yeah... I think it would skip it to be honest. Overall, not bad, but not great.
