La Enchilada - Enchiladas Michoacanas (5 Pieces) - Mexican Near Me - Fresno, California

Enchiladas Michoacanas! That's all I need stepping into this restaurant. My sister introduced me to this place, and I'm actually waiting on her to come back to visit so that we can take another trip back together (it's been a minute)! It's got diner vibes to me. Booths, seats at the front counter facing the kitchen, and a few more tables in the center. It's not the most aesthetic restaurant but... it's on the corner of Blackstone & Dakota-- lol I didn't expect it to be. Friendly staff. Great chefs. Service is always good/quick. We've never waited long to have our orders taken or to receive our food. Now... those enchiladas! They're the closest thing to the type of enchiladas my best friend's mama makes (she's from Michoacan)-- she makes the best, most authentic Mexican food! SO, when I can't get them from her... I know where to go. They are cheese enchiladas-- served with lettuce, tomatoes, avocados, and sour cream.. sprinkled with cotija cheese. They also come with some bomb potatoes and your choice of chicken or steak-- we always go steak. Sooo good and the flavors are always on point! + They give complimentary chips and salsa-- very good. We use that same salsa for the enchis. Pair it with a crisp coke, chef's kiss! If it wasn't obvious, it's a yes from me. This little hole-in-the-wall family-run business needs more recognition! read more

Came here for Sunday brunch with some friends. Authentic Mexican food at its finest. Homemade tortillas both corn and flour were off the charts! You can tell the food is fresh and well-made. My favorite was the beef fajitas and the chili Verde. The Sunday brunch comes with all you can eat buffet with tortillas and bottomless sodas. Well worth the price! Be sure to ask for the salsa for the chips. So amazing that I put it all over my food! My friend say the breakfast burritos are the best here so that will be the next thing I try. They are both very picky when it comes to Mexican food and the love this place. Plenty of parking in the lot in front of a motel. The service was fast and friendly and you can tell the family loves what they do. read more

La Enchilada - 3844 n blackstone ave La enchilada - Mexican Near Me - Fresno, California

This is a super cute old school restaurant. Complete with vintage booths and quintessential Mexican decoration. But the best thing is the food. It is my go to for the best beef or chicken soup you've ever had. Whenever I am coming down with a cold, I immediately order the chicken soup. I tell you it's healing! The other thing I like is that it is family owned and operated. The people are really friendly and it feels like you're getting a nice home cooked meal. read more

Burrito supreme with chicken and no sour cream and shrimp cocktail ordered. They do not have shrimp ceviche right now. Also , ordered with extra hot salsa. The worker was kind and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Trouble finding it. It's hidden right behind the gas station. FYI! I went in to get it. The restaurant is safe and clean. Small. Still, a good amount of seating. I was greeted when I walked in and the worker was very kind. The order was ready, It's a family business. Paid for the order and wished a good day! Order was exactly how it was asked for it to be. Burrito split along with the shrimp cocktail. Shrimp cocktail was really fresh and delicious! It came with Tapatio. Added that to spice it up and make it even better! Burrito supreme half was delicious too! Tasty ingredients along with adding the salsa. Great, fresh flour tortilla that it was wrapped in too! Mother said hers was great too! She said it tasted fresh! Great service and delicious lunch! Highly recommended! read more

The Chile verde was delicious. It came with rice and beans and homemade tortillas. The rice could have been better, but everything else was great. The booth seat was loose and came off when I was leaving. They also don't serve alcohol which is a minus for me. I would definitely go back to try more of the food. read more

This food is fabulous ! My problem is that it's so good I have a tendency to overeat!

At first glance, I thought for sure my steak was going to be dry. To my surprise, it wasn't. In fact, it was deliciously and flavorful! The beans were very good and although my plate didn't come with rice, I stole some from my partner's plate and it was fluffy, moist and tasty! My eggs were ok but that's my personal preference, I'm very picky when it comes to eggs and like mine fully scrambled with no white. (weird, I know) The potatoes are cut differently which I thought was pretty cool. They were seasoned well and were cooked perfectly with a light crisp but tender inside. The HOMEMADE corn tortillas were soft and pliable unlike other places where they crack when rolled. Definitely trying the flour tortillas on my next visit. The salsa was delicious as well, not too spicy as to not take away the delicious flavor. Service was great! We were greeted with a smile and told to sit where we pleased. The area might scare people away but it's a safe place to eat and totally worth it. The ambiance is super casual but great for dinner dates and family gatherings. read more

I really wanted to like this place but sadly I was unimpressed. I thought this place would be good based off of previous reviews but now I am convince those people aren't familiar with good Mexican food. Service was slow took about 30 min for our food to come which usually isn't a big deal but considering we were literally the only ones in the restaurant, that's unfortunate. All of the food that came out was beautiful and looked picture perfect but when you ate..had no taste at all. We got some items in red sauce and some in green. Both sauces were weird and lacked flavor all around. Beans, no flavor. Meat, very little flavor. I got the sope, it was huge and I was super excited I ordered it but upon eating two bites I couldn't even eat it anymore because it was so bland and tasteless. My chicken enchilada was good and I appreciated how they put sour cream and avocado on the side that was a bonus. Our server was nice. I wouldn't not come back here though. I would understand the large price increase also if the food quality matched but it did not unfortunately so I would not recommend. read more

Food was delicious tasted like real Mexican food. They fresh make everything too. My family loved the tortillas, they just kept asking for more. It's a small place but I really liked the environment. Update 5 years later: 8/18/21. Introduced my new beau a couple of weeks ago and if it were up to Him we'd eat here everyday! I asked him last night, "Have you had anything here you don't like?" His response, "Well let's see.... I've had enchiladas, molè, chile Colorado, homemade tortillas, chile verde, shrimp cocktail, now the nachos supreme and a burrito supreme.....nope. Everything is AMAZING!" And it is! I wish I was taking pics everytime I came here. I will start and update! It's authentic tasty and a little different each time. Prepare your palate, sometimes those chiles are HOT!!! But you will always be guaranteed some delicious goodness! read more

Let me start by saying the lady who helped is was extremely nice but quite frankly under performed. Took her 15 minutes to bring us waters. Chips and salsa were great but small portion size and slow waitress killed it. I ordered green enchiladas they served me red. GF ordered egg over medium it came scrambled. Food took so long that it was pointless to have them change. Food came in small portion but overall was very good. I recommend adding an additional server and either lowering prices or serving bigger dishes. read more

Food was good. It was the first time we had been there. It was 4:00pm on a Sunday. Waiting for my car to get detailed (side note: don't go to the great American car wash - terrible experience!) I ordered an ice tea, she said oh sorry we're out of ice tea. I asked if we could get some guacamole for the chips but she came back and said they were out of avocados... which was weird cause there was avocado on both our dishes when the food came out... ha ha ;) But the food was pretty good. The staff was friendly and the place is clean. Our table was more uneven than I've seen before. But the food is good enough to eat even at an uneven table haha ;) I ordered the chili verde which was the most spicy I had ever had and very good and my BF ordered the enchiladas which were also good. read more

Very good food. Simple fixings, nothing fancy. This small motel cafe is clean and neat in a very sketchy neighborhood. The large plate glass windows look out on a gritty scene where one will see homeless, prostitutes, street people. The customers come from all walks of life. The owner is kind and gracious to all, providing food for any who need it. Service can be very slow due to small staff so be patient. Don't come in if you don't have time to wait. You can call ahead to expedite your order. The place gets very busy. read more

Today my Albondigas was awesome: lots of cooked but textured veggies. I put a spoonful of salsa in the broth, which already had lots of flavor, to add just a slight amount of kick. This was exactly what I had been craving. The home-made tortillas were fresh and warn from the griddle. I look forward to eating them on tacos! And I enjoyed the salsa, it's not the same red tomato salsa that I get at most Mexican restaurants. The place is very small and give a "dive" appearance on the outside, but I seek out these hole-in-the-walls because they really focus on food. They are short on staff but I didn't knock off a star because the staff were very attentive. The inside is clean and each plate that went by my table looked yummy. I'll be back for chili verde. Important: they take cash & credit cards. But NO restrooms. (Sorry, they lose 1 star for this). read more

Boyfriend got caldo de res. He said it was the best he's ever had and he is picky. Super nice staff.

My family and I love Mexican food, and if I was rating this place on the food alone, it would get 5 stars. Because of the unappealing ambience and lackluster service, it gets 4 stars. The waiter was 2 starish and the transients popping in and out was bit off-putting. We each had something different and they were all great. The enchiladas Michoacan were fantastic, the chile verde was one of the best I ever had, the carne asada sope was huge and delicious, and the carnitas were superior. They have hand made tortillas and homemade sauces. You can't beat that! Just close your eyes and go. Your belly will thank you. read more

YUMM! I ate her a few years ago and defiantly dont remember it tasting so GOOD. Highly recommended! Very Clean! After we ordered they wiped every menu down. The cook walked out from the back with the biggest smile on his face and who doesn't love a Happy Cook The Food was Authentic nothing tasted processed or mass produced. It was a meal that your mom would cook for you.. if your mom knew how to cook. Dont let the outside fool you.. there is alot of Positive vibes and Good Food in this place. I am for sure going back and spreading the word read more

I'm not factoring in location or what the outside looks like because some of the best places are in nasty neighborhood strip malls. When we went inside, no one said anything to us even though there were three people behind the counter and it wasn't busy. So, we chose our own table and sat down. After a few minutes they brought us a couple of extra menus. The menus were clean and informative but laid out in a weird way. Regardless, we were all able to find what we wanted. Sometime later an absentminded 20 something came and took our drink orders. A few more minutes later, he came back to take our order. He had a hard time understanding anything we said. He contradicted what was on the menu and spent two minutes trying to get us to order meat on our nachos. After we finally ordered, he came back and said they were "already out" of chili verde. It was 11am and it was DEAD. But okay. So, I ordered something else. The food itself was mediocre. The BEST thing was the homemade tortillas. You can't beat that. They're amazing, which is why they are getting two stars. The waiter never came back to refill our drinks, someone else finally did. As I was watching him with other customers, he had forgotten whose orders he had taken. Seriously FOUR TABLES and two of us had food. It's was ridiculous. We won't be back. Tortillas isn't a good enough reason for pay $54 for four people to have mediocre Mexican food. read more

Despite its Yelp reviews, that place was neither clean nor delicious. I really wanted authentic food. The food was fine. It was underwhelming. The guy who was serving us seemed new to the job, or possibly it's his first job. Also, the drug fueled vagrants left a lot to be desired. It was actually scary. read more

This place is a gave it a shot, won't go back kind of place. The server was very sweet but was more concerned with her cell phone than getting me my drink. Welcome to my review take a minute to exp. In depth criticism. Noon review\visit. First time here at "LA enchilada" after coming from the regulars of country fare cafe and cafe de Leon. I must say the women here offer superior customer service so expect warm welcomes first off. The order was made for two people I had the mtichochan 3 enchilada combo plate which was delicious overall. Only downside I must say is the size and pricing don't seem right but the quality was great I enjoyed the meal. The albondigas order was Not so great only for the reason of quantity of meatballs In the giant bowl. I see quantity being an issue often in reviews whether it was meat or beans so keep that in mind with your order. Besides that I didn't factor that in the review of stars. Happy eating. Hope you liked my review. read more
