Second time here so far , Ive had asada and shrimp tacos, rice, and chips. The tacos are good especially with the cotija cheese added. Hard to please with Spanish rice but the rice was also good. They serve you a nice basket of fresh tortilla chips upon order request. I rate the food a 8 out of 10. I look at this place as more of a fast place to eat rather than an actual dine in restaurant. So the customer service does not necessarily meet an actual sit down restaurant vibe. When ordering you have to be more specific on what you like to especially if you know Mexican food, than I don't think you will be disappointed. Def will return read more

Lunch on a Saturday with my family. The order: I got an order of Birria tacos that came with consome, al pastor burrito, and a kids meal item the beef taco that comes with rice, beans, and drink. I also ordered a side of fries. I really enjoyed my Birria tacos, tender shredded beef, tortilla was nicely coated with the sauce and seared. Dipped in that consome, oh man it was so good. The al pastor burrito was a little underwhelming, lots of beans but very little meat. Just tasted like a bean burrito because that's how much beans were in there. My kids liked their meal, but I think there's a little too much seasoning inside the beef taco. The fries were amazing, loved them. Service can be better, the gentleman was a little bit all over the place and forgot a few items in the beginning like giving us utensils to eat when food has already arrived, and also forgetting to give a sauce we requested. I like the decor inside, it's colorful and has some nice art. Restrooms for women and men are separated by each side. Overall experience was 7.2/10 read more

We were looking for a nearby breakfast/brunch spot and wanted to try somewhere new. According to their hours, they open at 9:00 AM on Saturdays. We arrived at 9:57 AM, but the doors were locked and the chairs were still flipped on the tables. We then saw three employees walk in through a side door carrying fountain drinks. We made eye contact, but no one acknowledged us or indicated whether they were open or closed. My husband called to ask if they were open, and the employee said yes and told us to enter through the side door. A few minutes later, they opened the front door for the public. The food was just okay, nothing special. I didn't care for the salsa, it was too thick and the chips were very hard but crispy. My husband said he wouldn't order the chilaquiles again. They tasted like chips covered in canned enchilada sauce. My chorizo burrito was filling but tasted more like a bean burrito than chorizo. Overall, this wouldn't be a go-to spot for us, and we wouldn't return. It was disappointing, especially for a place with such high foot traffic in the area. read more

First time coming here and went with my partner. I ordered the birria tacos which were good. Wish it had some more flavor and wish it wasn't as greasy with oil. My partner ordered the shredded chicken wet burrito with green sauce which they said was not very good, lacked flavor, and skimped out on the cheese. Service was good and the ambiance of the place was just standard and OK. We tried to sit in the back of the restaurant but had to move due to the smell we thought was coming from the bathrooms. Overall, I don't think I would come here again considering all the other food choices that River Park has to offer. read more

After a long day exploring Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, we were looking for food. I was working in Riverpark the day before, and Mex Sabor was on my mind. I don't know if Mex Sabor has any affiliation with Sabor MX, but you could understand why I would feel they could have the same owner. It's been years since I went to MX, but the flavors I experienced way back when have always stuck with me. Everyone in the car seemed to be leaning towards Mexican too, so we did it. There are 6 of us, and it's not going to be possible for us to all sit together. In fact most of the seating is for 2. It's OK, teens at one table and the youngest will sit with mom and dad. At least he hasn't outgrown us yet. There's something for everyone. I got the Giant Burrito, birria tacos for my wife, 2 Nacho fries and 1 regular Nacho. I don't remember what our young guest got. My wife immediately notices the long wait. There's lots of waiting tables ahead of us. I'd say it's about 15 min minimum before the food starts coming. The Nacho fries, then the tacos, my burrito. But my daughters nachos don't come. After other tables start getting served, we mentioned it, and less than 5 min later, all is well. I mention how I wished their was a salsa bar like the previous tenant use to have. They bring us 2 salsas, one mild, one hot. This is just me, but I feel making the salsa request part of the ordering process would save time. Instead, it forces another trip to the table after the food has been served. Also, the hot salsa wasn't hot, and that's coming from me. Slight bite if anything, but no burn at all. I, personally, didn't mind, but my wife enjoys hot flavorful salsa. Finally, my burrito was just OK. Even though it looked like a shorter version of the anaconda burrito (which is probably the best burrito ever), this one was only meh. Even the next day when I had it for lunch, I wasn't wowed by it. I didn't enjoy the experience. As for my wife's birria tacos, as far as she is concerned, the bar is set by La Piedad. Her mind hasn't changed. My kids however, loved their food. I will say, the price was excellent. Typically we will spend $80 on a dinner, today we were barely over $60. Maybe it was because we didn't order any drinks since we had an ice chest full of them in the car, but the value was there. In the end, I wanted to love Mex Sabor, but I didn't. Decided to have lunch at this location. The inside was nice and they had music playing and a TV playing sports channel. I decided to try the steak wrap. It was okay I wasn't a fan of the white rice with vegetables and the meat was chewy with little flavor. I also asked for grilled onions and a jalapeño but they don't make that which I found odd. We also had a California burrito which was fine nothing wow about it. The customer service was okay when we walked in we didn't know if we had to seat down and wait for someone to take our order or if we ordered at the counter. A far cry from Rubio's, this independent, locally owned restaurant is delicious! I ate here with three friends, and we all really enjoyed our food. Personally I ordered a combination plate with a chicken molé enchilada, a shredded beef tamale, rice and salad. Loved that the meat wasn't dry. Their hot salsa was delicious and the chips and guac my friend ordered to share with us was super fresh. Portions were generous. My very full plate and a pineapple Jarrito was $17. One of my favorite places to eat in Fresno! Really good food, clean inside, good customer service, and reasonable prices. I've tried several items from this place. Some of my favorites include their California burrito, regular chicken burrito (not on the menu but they've been able to modify another burrito to just have chicken, rice, beans, and salsa), and chicken Mexi Bowl. Depending on your appetite you might be able to get a couple meals out of your orders. If I had to name a miss it would be the rice for me personally. Love everything else otherwise! read more

I came in feeling optimistic because of the reviews. I ordered the steak nachos and veggie burrito. I was able to modify the burrito, but they forgot my beans. It came with a side of chips, but only like 5. The chips in my nachos were not the best, but the toppings made up for it such as the cheese, sour cream and guacamole. I wish they added more jalapeños. The refried beans were bland and watery and the steak was hard. I asked the server for hot sauce and she forgot about it. They should have a condiment section. Overall a good experience. The staff were friendly, if a little confused, but I don't think that's unreasonable considering how long ago they opened. The portions are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable as well. The combination was not bad. The beans and rice could use a punch of flavor, but the enchilada and taco were very good. I also ordered chicken tortilla soup, and was surprised to see a gigantic bowl come to my table for just $8. I noticed there was no chicken while eating, so I asked a staff member about it and they brought a bowl of chicken, noting the chef was new and forgot to add it. The chicken had an excellent grilled flavor, and added to an already great soup. I will return to try more of the menu, but I think it's worth a shot. Brought the wife this time. We're chronic late diners, so we appreciate that the restaurant stays open till 9pm daily. We were greeted by a friendly staff member as we entered. My wife had the Carne Asada / Steak Con Enchilada, I had the California Burrito with carne asada. The Carne Asada steak was delicious, and a very good value. Crucially, because my wife is very particular about refried beans, she gave these the thumbs up, which means we can come here again. The fries inside the California Burrito had the effect of making it a little dry, so I'll probably change up my order next time. We also ordered house-made flan which a staff member brought out part way through the meal, so that we could enjoy it cold. The flan was amazingly creamy and rich, so good! The food was delicious! The carne asada was tender and juicy not to mention it was a really thick slice and generous portion! The enchilada was flavorful and the chicken was tender. The rice was fluffy and had flavor. It had bits of peas and carrots that added color and texture. The beans were tasty and a had a smooth texture. The birria was really good! The server gave me a side of consome to go along with the birria which took the birria to the next level. I was also given a side of onion and cilantro. The food tasted like it had a ton of MSG. Very little flavor with the meat and not the best quality either. Most of the food didn't have much seasoning. It was also as expensive as a regular sit down restaurant where you'd be served. The room is the same as rubios with the tables and chairs just repainted with some new decorations. Food was terrible. I will never go again. The rice was hard and needed salt. Beans okay. I ordered the shrimp and fish taco combo. Both fish and shrimp over cooked. The chipotle dressing was gross. This place is awesome! The staff is always so kind and attentive. They have answered my questions about the menu with patience and detail. The inside of the restaurant is clean and comfortable.
