After being completely sold out by 11AM at the Ballard Farmers Market, I was determined to try again the next weekend. Unfortunately I was delayed and only arrived at 11 again - but this time they had plenty! The employee told us they boosted production for the weekend since they unexpectedly ran out too early the previous week. Great for us! Sourdough Foccacia ($13) - This foccacia has a good crisp on the outside, which deteriorated a bit since it was sitting in the car for a couple of hours before consumption. It comes in a nice form fitting paper box. The interior is open and airy looking, but it's actually quite moist, chewy and somewhat tough especially on the crust. It has an exceptional fermented-ish sour taste and is decorated with sea salt specks on top. It's even more sour than what could be found in most sourdough breads in SF. I can tell this is extremely high quality but the taste profile is just a little too much for me. (4/5) Onion Cookie ($4) - Woah, this is a really unique cookie. There's a caramelized onion aroma that wafts right into the nose as the cookie is removed from the packaging, which is soaked through with oil. The texture is soft, yet pliable, allowing the cookie to bend quite a bit without breaking. First bite - it's not too sweet and has an exceptional umami-savoriness. Kind of like a miso cookie with some cinnamon that works so well with the savory notes. So strange in taste yet delicious. I expected to find onion pieces embedded within, but it's pretty evenly textured. (5/5) Salmonberry Goods serves some very high quality treats. They are pretty adventurous with their goods - I'm surprised they don't make anything with actual salmonberry though! read more

I would like to start off by saying that there is nothing I get down more with than sustainably & locally sourced goods, so I am very here for what Salmonberry is doing and bringing to the neighborhood. We did the farm box subscription for a few months and it was my favorite part of the week for some time. It felt like Chopped, I would get this big bag of beautiful, local goods delivered to my door every week (so convenient) and then would piece together the puzzle of recipes for the week using as much as I could. Some of our favorite meals came from the farm box era. It's very convenient if you don't like having to spend lots of time in the grocery store and want to celebrate the beautious diverse bounties from our local farmers! Recently I was excited to try the baked goods and stopped by the Ballard Farmer's Market to pick up some bread (and sweet treats ). We grabbed a loaf of the sourdough and the berry pop tart, and I will say the berry pop tart did not make it to the car. It was delicious 10/10 I never wanted it to end I will say that I was very disappointed with the sourdough loaf :( I always enjoy a good blister, but it lacked depth of flavor, seemed maybe under proofed and was a bit dry. And I wouldn't generally be this picky, but for a $10 loaf, the score was a bit sloppy and made me lowkey sad :( read more

Was finally able to swing by and enjoy one of Saturday Bagel Toastie sales. Gpt half the salmon belly and half from the garden. I love the option of being able to do halves so you can try more than one menu item. And don't fear they sell their other baked goods on Saturdays too so you're able to get your cookie fix or just package of bagels to bring home and make your own toasties? Was lucky enough to ho on a dry sunny day. you can tell the word is getting out as there was a line. They have a long stand up communal table if you want to enjoy you treats there. If it's raining make sure to bring an umbrella or hood cause you purchase it from the entrance to their bakery. Always friendly crew at Salmonberry!! read more

I got to try this spot at the Ballard farmer's market where they always have a little popup stand! My friend recommended it and spoke really highly of their pastries, so I knew I had to give it a try being such a big fan of baked goods. I opted for the sweet focaccia since I absolutely LOVE focaccia bread and had never had a sweet one before. This one was plum, though I believe their flavors rotate every so often. The bread itself was great -- amazing texture, perfectly well baked, and delicious! I did think that the plums were a tad too gooey and wet though, which made the texture feel funny when eating it as a whole. However, still great to try overall. read more

I get the CSA farm box from them every other week, with the pastry add on-- and it's the best part of my week!!! The amount of produce you get for the price you pay is an incredible value, and it saves me a lot of time and money since I barely now go to the grocery store. The produce is so good and changes weekly, keeping it interesting and keeping me on track with eating my veggies. My wife and I were walking at the end of the day for the Ballard farmers market and the folks from Salmonberry generously offered us their last loaf of bread as they were closing up shop. You can find Salmonberry Goods at the Ballard Farmer's Market on Sundays (which is usually where I find them), among other places depending on time of year. Their baked goods are fantastic! We frequently get the hippy sourdough whole wheat bread and love to eat it for breakfast. it's a unique combination and I haven't had another bread that is like it -- it's hearty and filling yet still moist and not TOO heavy (also freezes well) Love it with peanut butter and jam in the mornings. :) The peanut butter malt cookie is also really good, as well as the focaccia bread, which comes in a pretty hefty size but you can freeze it for later! They also have some rotating items based on seasonal produce. I usually go for the baked goods but they also have a CSA that you can sign up for, where they'll deliver some produce along with some bread/baked items. Check it out on their website! read more

I recall bookmarking Salmonberry Goods awhile back after experiencing their items at an indie cafe. Last Saturday (2/27/21), I was wandering the University District Farmers Market and spotted the Salmonberry Goods booth. I appreciated the demo displays of their baked goods. The rest are wrapped to adhere to pandemic safe practices. I bought a Peanut Butter Malt cookie for The Homie. He's still nibbling it to make it last, I guess. For myself, I tried the Hazelnut Brownie. It is rich, moist, and decadent. Easily plated with a canele of ice cream or some whipped cream and you have a fancy dessert. Better yet consumed with hot coffee or ice cold milk. Salmonberry Goods seems to be found at indie cafes, neighborhood markets, catering orders, and via subscription boxes like CSAs. Clearly usage of high quality ingredients matters and baked with love. read more

I've LOVED maintaining a CSA with Salmonberry the past few months. I've subscribed to the biweekly Farm Box with 6 sourdough bagels and a half dozen eggs for a while now and the quality of their boxes, service, and company are top notch. The CSA is unique in that it's several farms contributing 1-2 items each rather than one farm sending everything, so you get even more variety. The boxes (so far) have always come with the eggs and bagels, as well as 2-3 types of greens, 2-3 pieces of fruit, microgreens, mushrooms, and 2-3 other types of veggies. Most of the time I've subscribed has been fall through winter and I've been impressed that the boxes did still have so much variety throughout. Now, the boxes are showing signs of spring so I had to post the haul from today to show the value of the produce. This time I edited my subscription to get a loaf of sourdough bread and I really appreciated the flexibility!
