Let me start with the fact that I am an extraordinarily picky eater. Everything doesn't love my sensitive tummy and my tastebuds don't love alot either. With that as a frame of reference, let me start with I'm not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. I have eaten Pho ALL over the DC, MD, VA area and for this area of MD - it is THE BEST. My hubster had the seafood Pho and it was delish. Try the Vietnamese Beef Stew (not the spicy one), add 2 small dishes of the Thai chili sauce to the broth along with the usual basil and bean sprouts - YOUR WELCOME. It is SO ridiculously good! And I usually don't like taste of the beef at these places but this beef was tender and flavorful and well seasoned. And the carrots were so "carrot-y" in the dish and melted in your mouth like cotton candy but not in a mushy way. Hard to explain - just trust me. This dish is the TRUTH!!! We also had the salt and pepper wings as an appetizer based on another Yelp review and they are a home run too! Make sure you get the Thai chili sauce for those too - it seems to compliment everything the have and I'm not normally a chili sauce girl because I can't handle very spicy things. It's more sweet than spicy. Finally, beverages - the coconut water is AMAZING. It's not like the coconut water you can buy at the store - this has some added simple syrup or something. SO nutty and sweet! Like dessert - yum, yum, yum! But seriously guys, I have saved the BEST for last - insert dramatic pause here - the Brazilian coffee Boba though!!! AH-MAZING! SO COFFEE-EY and sweet. It's like your perfect sweet coffee from Dunkin - on the day they got it *just* right X 10. Seriously - I live!! My husband and I came here by coincidence. We were driving around and ended up in Edgewater. This restaurant came up as a highly rated place so we thought we'd give it a shot. It did not disappoint. We were both very satisfied with what we ordered. We shared the cripsy spring rolls, then he ordered the grilled chicken bahn mi. We also ordered the combination bahn mi and it tastes just like the ones sold on the streets of HCMC! The pho and broth was very tasty. We would definitely return. read more

This place is legit. And yes, I asked a Vietnamese friend to confirm. If you're looking for the "real-deal" pho, order the House Special pho, which comes with flank steak, tendons, tripe, brisket, and all the other normal components of traditional pho. It always arrives quickly, the broth is always sensational, and there's fish sauce, Hoisin sauce, chili paste, and Sriracha on every table to flavor up your pho to taste. Everything tastes amazingly fresh and bright, like good pho should. The place isn't fancy, but it's neat and clean, and the service is very attentive. I eat here about two to three times a month. Best part? A huge bowl of pho is only $10! Oh, and they do carryout, but the portion size is significantly smaller than you'd get by sitting down and eating. read more

My husband and I regularly get carryout from Saigon Palace. The menu is large, and we have tried a variety of dishes. I can speak well of the pho, sandwiches, salads, and curries. I've never had to wait for my order beyond the promised time. My personal favorite is the grilled pork sandwich. The sub-like roll has a crisp crust and is not too thick. The barbecue sauce on the pork is delicious. Julienned fresh vegetables and lots of cilantro give additional crispness and flavor. And the price is very good for food of this quality. In our opinion Saigon Palace beats out other Asian restaurants in the area (and we do have a sizeable selection of them). read more

I hate to give them two stars, and maybe if I try them again, I will post an update and change my rating. My experience is based on two separate carryout orders, so decor and service really didn't come into play here. From phone in to pick up, it was only 10 minutes. Granted it was around 5:00 PM on both occasions during midweek. On the first visit, the picks were Shaky beef (a chef recommended dish) and a combo pad Thai with chicken, beef and shrimp. This meal was good, and the leftovers the next day even better. The beef cubes were super tender, all the veggies were fresh, the flavorful marinade had some depth and the lime dipping sauce added just the right amount of acid. The only thing I did not like and did not get, was the addition of potato cubes. They certainly didn't add anything, and they seemed out of place considering this was served with rice. Carb overkill. The pad Thai was good, not too sweet, and all the protein was tender and well prepared. Surprisingly, this tasted much better the next day. So I was quite happy, as I'm not a big fan of Thai, so I thought, finally, I have a place that I can get a healthy takeout meal, when cooking is the last thing on my mind. The second visit to Saigon, I ordered the sauteed broccoli and chicken and the grilled pork vermicelli. The description for the last dish was as follows "Flame-grilled cuts of pork served on a bed of thin rice vermicelli noodles, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumbers, shredded carrots, daikon radish, finished with a pinch of green onions and crushed peanuts, accompanied by our citrus infused fish sauce." I mean yeah, to me that sounded pretty darn good. The minute I got home and opened the Styrofoam box (wish they use plastic), I had a feeling I was going to be disappointed. The flame grilled pork was beyond flamed it was darn near incinerated. The veggies looked good and fresh (although no radish in sight) but the pork jerky actually hurt going down my throat. Don't ask me why I even bothered. The chicken and broccoli was noted to be in a subtly sweet and salty brown sauce. Oh no it wasn't. It was a very pale liquid probably thickened with a touch of corn starch and it had absolutely no flavor. The white thin breast meat pieces as a result had no flavor either as they were not marinated in anything and the broccoli was just too hard. I fished out the chicken, put it in my dog's bowl, and the rest went into the garbage. I probably should have picked out some veggies to feed the bunnies that run around our yard but I was so turned off, I just wanted to be rid of the stuff. So I went from OK, this is pretty good stuff to how dare someone serve this. I know their Pho is supposed to be quite delicious, but I just wasn't yearning a hot bowl of noodle soup. I will have to simmer down before I give this place another shot. read more

The pho I usually go to was closed maybe for renovation so I went on Yelp to find the next closest one and found this. Called ahead of time to place order and asked for extra jalapeños when I got there I asked for a container for some hot chili pepper the gentleman said it's already in your bag I said great got my order got home. Had the extra jalapeños but no chili pepper sauce at first I was disappointed but when I ate the food omg it was so good and the jalapeños was so fresh I didn't miss the chili sauce. Found little flies in my soup and my fried rice. 3 of them, 2 on my shrimp in the rice, one in my broth. Which is unacceptable. Called and told we'd be fully refunded, and when we went it were told only for the items with the bugs. Then was told he couldn't refund money to our card, then tried to just give us free food. Then asked if it was fruit flies (which I think it was based on the pictures I have but we only ever used the word bugs so it makes me think he knows this is an issue.) Then took $20 out of his wallet and said to take that even though that didn't even cover the shrimp fried rice (13.99) and rare steak pho (11.99). One of my favorite places in the Annapolis area for pho. Flavorful broth, the veggie is good and packed with vegetables. I love going here on cold nights and filling up on pho. Their appetizers are not great though -- I've never been very impressed with their spring rolls and I think they are expensive for what you get. First time eating here. Food was good. Summer rolls were very flavorful. They were more akin to northern vietnam but with the flavor of southern. The pho was really good although I found the soft tendon lacking in flavor. Also had their iced Vietnamese coffee and while normally I wouldn't even note it, it was the LARGEST glass of coffee I've encountered in the Washington Baltimore area. If you're looking more for a stir-fry, try the Shaky Beef- it's tenderness is to die for! I happened to be in that area once, and went to this place for a late lunch. The guy on duty didn't greet me because he was on the phone chatting, and pointed at a booth as directing me to a seat. When I was done, he just delivered the bill to me and didn't even say "Thank You". Later, maybe it was the lady owner, came from outside and grabbed my check and payment without saying anything. This is our favorite place for Pho. But today, I decided to expand my horizons; so while my husband order his favorite, Special House Pho, I decided to try the Shrimp Vermicelli. I'm so glad I did! It is what is is. Nothing fancy, good food and willing to make recommendations if you are unfamilair with Vietnamese food (which is really fresh, so I tend to like it a bit more than regular old Chinese. I am giving this 3 stars which mean "A- ok", because that is truly what it is. The place could probably use a little work to the atmosphere (darker lighting, music, etc.) but it was clean and welcoming so I can't hate on it too much. Maybe I'm a little jaded because I am a 28 year old bachelor and maybe this place is set up for famlies and I don't see the value in that- so again- I can't say bad things about it. The food was good and VERY good portions for the price. The waitress was very pleasant and somewhat relaxed, which is nice. There was only one waitress working last night and you can see she was busy. So besides doing something with the mood of the place, and maybe a hostess- I can't see much beyond that. They are a new restaurant so I understand some things will have to wait. Until then- I would definately recommend this place for a mid- week, healthy, and decently priced meal. read more

The woman who answered the phone to take our order was so polite, it was a very pleasant experience (I normally hate calling in orders). Pickup was easy, but most importantly, the food was fantastic! We had to wait more than 90 minutes for delivery on a Saturday night, so be warned; you will likely be waiting a long time, for mediocre food. (To be fair, we are probably on the very edge of their delivery area, at 6 miles out; I was surprised they even deliver to Annapolis.) They charge $6 for delivery, which is contracted to a "delivery service". The food was fine, but not great; wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. If you're in Annapolis proper, the best Asian food delivery restaurant we've found so far is Nano's (tasty, fast, dependable). My parents & I go here at least once a week. Some of the most savory Pho I have ever had and I've had a lot of Pho in my 23 years. The Shaky Beef is also a favorite. For appetizer, I always, always, always will recommend the chai gio (crispy spring roll). Again, some of the best chai gio I have ever had. It is so light but still awesomely crispy. Some chai gio is very dense. The girls are also so friendly, especially if you become regulars. (They always remember my Dad's usual.) In other words, go here for awesome Vietnamese food. After moving from a place where great Vietnamese restaurants are scattered all over the city, I am glad to have found a decent fill for the void in my life! Saigon Palace's pho and vermicelli are the best I've had in MD. The service is ok, depending on who's working, but the good food definitely trumps that. Update: Be prepared to WAIT if they are busy. We went on a busy night (restaurant was half full) and waited over an hour for our food. They only had one person waiting tables. April 2015 update: Dropping a star... Pho portions have decreased! A small bowl of pho was not enough for my 4-year-old. Service was also subpar. My coworkers and I go here a lot. The pho is good, but the grilled pork chop is amazing! Though, have to limit it bc it's a lot of food that hits the sleepyness after going back to work... I'm also impressed with the fact that there is a noticeable size difference between the small and the large. The food is good, not awesome and the service is different. We have eaten at Saigon Palace twice now. We get the PHO. The the most important part of pho is the broth. Their broth is deep, rich and flavorful. The noodles are okay and standard. They are made ahead of time then warmed in the hot broth. The meats are tasty but sparse. More meat would be better. I ordered the beef pho and its pretty good. My wife likes the pho with all the meats. Hers has the tendon and tripe. She said it is pretty good. I will take her word for it because I don't care for tripe. My son gets the pho with chicken. The chicken was shredded breast meat and kind of dry although submerged in broth. The steamed dumplings were really good. They were obviously handmade. The place is never crowded and the service is not bad. Don't expect any small talk from the staff. They take your order, bring you things you need and will pack your food up for you to go. I went in by myself for a late lunch and I was the only customer. Normally I would sit at the bar, but I think they use it for a service station and office desk. It was very awkward. They had a random 80's movie on the television above the bar. Very friendly and informative service (which is not the norm for asian restaurants). I ordered the grilled pork rice dish for lunch which was absolutely delish! According to the waiter, the pork is marinated overnight which contributes to the tenderness and flavor of the meat. It was a good size and I still had some left overs to take home. Since it was just me, I couldn't order what I usually do at Viet spots such as pho and spring rolls but perhaps I will try to bring my husband next time.
