Excellent Chinese. I was pretty skeptical when my husband wanted to order from the menu in the mail. But I was willing to give it a try. Let me just say it's fantastic. I love their diet "steamed" menu. The food is excellent, large portions and very fast delivery. I highly recommend. They delivered to Davidsonville which is also plus. Give it a chance! We've ordered several of the chef specials and the combination plates. I frequently get the diet steamed options and get sesame sauce on the side. I order here fairly often for lunch. Once a month or so. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food this is definitely not for you. This is your average american Chinese greasy spoon kinda place. It's good if you know what to order. My favorite things to order are the Chinese eggplant, chicken fried rice, and garlic broccoli. I've tried a few of the shrimp dishes. They were not my thing. However the chicken stuff has generally been good. The eggrolls are a little too doughy for me but I can see some people liking them. The price is good as the portions are huge. I often get about 4 meals worth of food for $20 and the leftovers taste good when reheated. My husband would probably make 2-3 meals out of a $20 order. Overall, this is not fine dining by any means but I'd like to see this place stick around. Does the trick. read more

I am writing this for my 85 year old father who really wanted this place to know this... "As a long time customer and a customer who would have given 4 stars every time, our meal this evening was really disappointing. The chicken was so overcooked and inedible. the ribs were all fat and the sauce was kind of disgusting. The hot and sour soup which is always one of my favorites didn't have it's usual delicious flavor. The crab rangoon was made with some type of dough that was more like a fortune cookie than the flakey delicious dough the crab rangoon is usually cooked in. The shrimp orders were almost all broccoli and the sauce had too much garlic and was gummy. I really hope what ever happened tonight never happens again. read more

We have lived in Heritage Harbor for several years and usually have delivery from Fortune House on Thursday nights. There was a time when the food wasn't as good but recently in the past several months they have stepped it up 100%! Everything has been fresh cooked delivered quickly and hot. I don't know what happened. I've really enjoyed this Chinese food, they had a great lunch special w/ Hunan Shrimp. Ordered many times and was pleased w/ nice sized shrimp, delicious lo mein, good fried rice and passable egg rolls. The last time we ordered, however, they took about 2 hours to deliver some 5 miles away, the food was sub-par, almost inedible, and a lo mein dish strangely had dried-up fried rice mixed with a smattering of lo mein noodles. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because historically they were good. I'm half tempted to try them again just in case we had a really "off" day, but don't know if I want to chance it. read more

Food and service are very good. I have been ordering for 7 years and have never had a bad dinner. They give very generous portions plus they add plenty of whatever the main ingredient is, such as shrimp, chicken, beef, etc. Prices have gotten a little high lately but I guess all food has gone up. read more

The delivery is lightening fast! It feels like the minute after I hang up the phone from ordering they are knocking at my front door with steaming hot food. I don't know how they do it. Best shrimp fried rice. I love it. Good wonton soup, egg rolls, spring rolls. Everything I have tried is great. All the people there are nice. Dine in, carry out or delivery. And they remember to put utensils and napkins in the bag when you get delivery which is nice because so many places forget. read more

I'm not one to give 1 star reviews because usually there is a redeeming quality about the place I'm reviewing, but this one had very little to none. I arrived in Annapolis around 8 and was starving because I hadn't eaten since 12. I asked the guy at the front desk if there were any places that deliver to here and he referred me to a pizza place and Fortune House. Being that I'm from NY and believe in the "NY has the best pizza hype" I decided to go for the Chinese food. Plus, on the menu, it said "Fast Free delivery". Score. I called at 8:10 and ordered the General Tso Chicken w/ Fried Rice, Egg Roll, Crab Ragoons, and a soda. I know I sound like a pig, but was doing it to meat the minimum delivery requirement. I checked Google Maps to see how far they are from me (to estimate delivery time). 9 miles and 16 minute WITH traffic. Figured I'd get my meal between 8:45 and 9:00 then. 9:15 hit, nothing. I called them and the lady said my driver left and he'd be there shortly. Finally at 9:45 (!) over 1 and a half hours after I ordered my food the guy came. The dude was a 40-something Non-Asian guy (which I've never seen with chinese delivery). My order was $19 and change. I only had $20 and $10 so I gave him the $20 and was going to have him change the $10 for his tip. He goes "I can keep this right?" and before I could say anything he left. Now, for quick, efficient service I wouldn't have minded a generous $10 tip, but since I had to wait forever I was going to give a standard $3 - $5 tip. This pissed me off, but I was too hungry to care. Finally, food! I ate it all because I was starving and did suffice in filling me up, but the quality was subpar (putting it generously). Went for the General Tso chicken first. What surprised me about this was that it was cheaper than all the other entree items (most places make this one of the more expensive ones). They didn't seal the container properly because most of the sauce started dripping back into the bag. I tried the chicken. The sauce was weird. Chicken seemed okay, but the sauce overwhelmed with a subpar weird version of typical General Tso's Chicken. Egg Roll was beyond greasy and tasted bad as well. Crab Ragoons were the worst I've had (which is a shame because these are my favorite Chinese food). It was edible, but wasn't anything to rave about. Get this, even the fortune cookies were burnt and had brown edges. They screwed up fortune cookies! Hey at least the soda was carbonated.... I will never go to the place again if I'm in the area (even if they are the only Chinese place around and I'm craving it). read more

I got a flier in the mail and decided to give this place a try. I am a big fan for greasy Americanized Chinese food, so I was looking forward to giving it a try. Overall it was decent for what it was. If not for the sauce on the spare ribs it would be a 3. Think of it as a 2.5. I ordered the crab rangoon, BBQ boneless spare ribs, and sweet & sour pork. The crab rangoon was actually pretty good. Only four pieces though, so not much to share. The BBQ boneless spare ribs were almost good. They were the way I like them, but there was something off about the flavor of the sauce. I can't explain what it is, but the sauce just wasn't any good. Finally, the sweet & sour pork was pretty good. The pork was deep fried nicely and just greasy enough to make it good. The sweet and sour sauce was much better than the sauce on the spare ribs. I will probably try it again, but will stay away from the spare ribs. read more

Good food! We got the Sweet & Sour chicken, General Taso Chicken, wanton soup, and shrimp fried rice. Our food came within a reasonable amount of time, we've had trouble in the past with other restaurants with orders sometimes taking 2+ hours. Our delivery guy Matt was very sweet! We've had him a few times and is always willing to fix a mistake, he even called the restaurant once because they forgot an item and drove all the way to go get it and back! We tried this place even though the reviews werent great because it was so close to our home. The below average reviews are pretty old as well. The inside of the restaurant is in need of a few updates but we had take out anyways. We tried the chicken lomein and gen tso chicken. The prices are great for what you get. I'm torn between 1 star and 2. I'm going with 2 though because even though Fortune House is not good and I won't return, they didn't do anything horrible. My grandparents like going to this place because it's very close to their house. So I went with them yesterday for lunch. They enjoyed their food as usual. I did not enjoy mine. The egg-roll was OK, and the best item I had. The fried rice was strange but not bad. The beef and broccoli... I liked the sauce and the broc but the beef... not sure what cut they use but it's just gross. The first piece I ate was rubbery and I didn't want to eat more but after shoving down a bunch of broccoli and carrots I ventured another slice. Also gross. As for service... there was none. They took our order when we arrived and delivered it. That's pretty much all. When I asked for a refill on my water the waitress plopped a half filled pitcher of water in front of me. Really? It's not like I was asking for water every 5 minutes, just once. Thanks for that though. The staff were screaming amongst themselves and on the phone in the dining room the whole time we were there. We were all done eating for at least 5 minutes before I finally went up to ask for boxes and the bill. No body checked on us after the food was delivered and even at the end I took the bill up to the counter to pay and was ignored. We wound up just leaving it with cash - leaving a 25% tip. Food is great! My go to Chinese delivery in the Annapolis area. They will deliver all around which is nice! We usually get Generals tsao chicken, egg drop soup, and a beef dish. We tried the dumplings and they were huge! Came with 6 and a side sauce. Definitely recommend for that takeout/delivery craving! read more

Very bad fried rice, wasnt happy about it. I called because the rice wasnt cook. So then I asked for if they could send a cooked one but offered refund and driver coming back . The driver picked up the fried rice and then the owner called me back tellin me that why the fried rice was half in the box, I said, well we all have a taste and threw the rest to the trash. He said, we lied...wow... I would expect him to taste the fried rice to confirm that it is not fully cook the rice. Wow, for $8.95 he wants half , I said let your driver come and get it. I have tried many other Chinese carryout places and no one compares in the area. They deliver the food piping hot every time. Everything tastes freshly cooked, and not reheated. Wow! I work in this building, where Fortune House is located, and got a bit busy, so needed lunch, as I didn't have time to pack lunch today. I chose this spot, because that's all we have to chose from, without driving. I think this restaurant gets that...thus, the "whatever service." Anyway, I ordered Crab Wontons and Moo Shu Shrimp. I ordered and paid online. I thought, give it a half hour, go down, grab my bag, and run back up to finish the massive list of work to-do's, before the end of my business day. WRONG! I went down, my food was not ready, the card wasn't processed because the staff person didn't "feel like punching in my card number," as opposed to "just swiping it," and I stood there for 15 minutes. Why put credit card info at risk, asking for it, when ordering it online, if you're just going to do it this way, anyway? After all was finished, I go back up to my office and open my food containers. I've ordered Moo Shu Shrimp for well over 25 years, and never have I seen it made with baby salad shrimp. How crazy is that? Additionally, the wontons look like they were fried yesterday, for the whole week, and just sitting under a light. They're like rocks or stones. Horrible! A true disappointment. I would rather spend the gas, and go the distance on my lunch break, in the future, to insure getting my money's worth. What a waste of $15. Did I mention there were only 6 BABY SALAD SHRIMP in my order - a $10 dish? Robbery, and I had a change to observe a few things. The dirty atmosphere, and practices.
