Our daughter lives just 5 minutes from Jack's Fortune and has been encouraging us to come and have lunch with her there. We enjoyed it as much as she does. Set in a strip shopping center there is plenty of parking. The interior is very clean and attractive with many of the traditional oriental touches. There were 5 of us and we were seated near the front window. I was somewhat surprised at the steady number of customers on a mid-week afternoon. Four of us ordered off of the lunch menu which includes egg roll, fried rice and entree. Our daughter started us off with ordering a "Volcano" cocktail for the table. It comes in a large bowl with a flaming center, very impressive. You get extra long straws to hopefully avoid setting them on fire. I took a sip but opted out for a more traditional cocktail. I started off with hot and sour soup. It wasn't listed on the menu as part of the special but seemed to be included. It was spicy! For my entree I had the chicken with cashews which was delicious with plenty of cashews to keep me happy. All of the others also had chicken dishes except our daughter who had the crispy beef which was not a lunch special. She loves the crispy beef at Jack's and it's her go-to dish of choice. The service was good and the owner who was also working the dining room was delightful. If Jack's Fortune was closer to us it would definitely be on our regular dining out rotation. read more

Had a Sunday craving for Chinese food so of course I had to come to Jack's Fortune. There is so much yum on their menu but I settled for the combination foo yung. I started off with the hot and sour soup and they bring out the fresh and crispy wonton noodles to add on top - which was excellent! They also serve hot tea and iced water, which is very nice. The service here is great also and that adds to the pleasant atmosphere. My egg foo yung was excellent and I especially loved the gravy, which was flavorful. Most places that I've tried their gravy isn't as tasty as Jack's. It was enjoyable Sunday lunch and they were so kind to wrap up my leftovers. With my check, I was given a fortune cookie, which was a treat as always! read more

The shrimp spring rolls were delicious. I had beef and vegetables. It was ok. Not the best I've had but ok. It was a very good portion, I at half. I dont like sticky rice so I should have got fried rice. It could have been more brown gravy. Over all it was good and the vegs were fresh. Brocolli, carrots, etc. The egg foo young was good. I would go back, I want to try the honey chicken. Prices are good, spent $67 for two meals, and 6 spring rolls and a cocktail. Very good! The place is deceiving online. It's a store front but stepping in its white table cloths and red decor hanging front the ceiling. Very clean and nice inside. Met with reception at the door and they take you to your seat. I was served quickly. Just dont get the margarita. I think it was just mix, no alcohol, not sure. Get wine or a straight shot of alcohol with soda on the side if you want a cocktail. read more

The customer service was good and friendly. We were seated in about 10 to 15 minutes. We were served with hot tea and water. The hot tea was perfect on a cold night. For appetizers we ordered chicken lettuce wraps, hot and sour soup, and spring rolls and they all were good. For entrees, we ordered General Tso chicken and Firecrackers shrimp. General Tso was delicious, fresh, and great potion. Th Firecracker shrimp was different as it's a specialty dish. The sauce is a clear white sauce over lightly fried shrimp with carrot and celery. A bit sweet than spicy but tasted good. Was I a fan of the dish, not really but was able to enjoy the dish. We enjoyed it and would visit again. Excellent friendly & efficient service. Comfy atmosphere. Extensive menu with good old-fashioned Chinese menu options (hot tea on the table!) - great portions - our standard orders of Kung Pao chicken (me) yielded best in my experience - for spouse - sesame chicken - if not best it was certainly a generous portion with lots of perfectly cooked broccoli with it. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted: fried rice. My group was seated, and my friends immediately started scouring the menu with its many options. Between the dim lighting and my glasses being... somewhere else, I could only barely make out the fried rice section. Chicken, beef, pork, shrimp. I wasn't feeling a heavy protein at that moment - just standard fried rice was the goal. Everyone else placed their orders. My turn! Me: "Can I please have an order of plain fried rice?" Waiter: "PLAIN fried rice?" (pause... visible confusion) Me: (gestures vaguely at the meat options listed next to fried rice) "No chicken or... anything." Waiter: "No chicken or... anything. Just... fried rice." Me: "Yes...?" At this point, I'm questioning everything I know about fried rice. Isn't it rice, eggs, sauce, vegetables? Sometimes with chicken, sometimes without? Have I been living a lie? The entrees arrived--plates of various meats and seafood prepared in different dishes. And then there was mine. A bold, minimalist interpretation of my order: white rice. No sauce. No vegetables. No egg. Just rice that had clearly met the grill briefly and was then artfully plated. And you know what? That is exactly what I ordered. I said "no chicken, or... anything," and they took that very seriously. Respect. Honestly? It wasn't half bad. I'd probably order it again. My friends raved about their dishes (Hunan Style Pork and Cantonese Chicken). Food and service were both excellent--five stars. We'll be back. read more

Stopped in twice for carry out. First time I got two dishes - the spicy pork and the general tso chicken lunch special. The general tso wasn't something I would get again and the egg roll that came with it was nothing to write home about BUT that spicy pork had me returning the next week for another "plate". We circled back to this place after having a really good experience the first time and the food was okay. I really enjoyed my dine-in experience but takeout seemed different. I ordered the egg foo young which is one of my favorite dishes and it was bland. The gravy was way too loose and soupy plus lacking any flavor. The egg was also bland. I will never order that again. The sesame chicken and crispy beef were solid but nothing overly amazing or worthy of the long drive to get it. If this is your local Chinese, I say go for it! But sadly we have better closer to our home so likely won't go back. read more

I unfortunately don't have any pics from dinner but the food was good. I'm Cantonese and honestly it was pretty good food for the area! The fried shrimp with garlic and chilies is always a go-to for me but boy do those chili hit. Everything from the Kung pao chicken to the beef chow fun was good. It's a small sit down Chinese restaurant but it's the best you'll get in town. We came during commission week and they were kind enough to take our reservation for a party of 15 people or so. I'm really grateful to the staff who made sure our waters were always filled and everything on our order came out!!! read more

If you have an issue with your food, they are nasty!!!! Snotty!!!! Loud!!! The manager opened up the container and picked through the food , pulling it apart with her fingers, right there at the cashier's station. She broke through every egg foo young pancake, digging for the shrimp. That was the most childish rage from a 60 something year old that we have ever witnessed. As a result, there was more egg foo then shrimp, proving us right. I was so glad my husband and I drove back there. She could have donkey konged through the walls, -three shrimp per pancake is not what we paid for. In her effort to try to embarrass us, she had the nerve to involved the other customers and looked ridicules with her fingers all greasy, holding up the "picked through" egg foo young patties and the few shrimp in the container top. read more

The food was very good, although it was a bit expensive. I would say overall, the food was very high-quality, but it didn't translate to the price in my opinion. I would order them again if I was down that way, I really like the one at the Eastport shopping center the best but Jack's fortune is definitely a great alternative for me. I don't know if there is great Chinese in Annapolis. If you want something good you're probably headed to DC. Jack's was alright. In fairness I took it to go and I think that affects the food. I got the shrimp lo mein and spring rolls. The shrimp was really good. The lo menu noodles were too thick. I would give it another try. read more

We've been going to Jack's for years, but unfortunately it seems to decline a bit with each visit. On our most recent trip, the crispy chicken was extremely dry inside, with very little actual meat. With another establishment coming to town, hopefully this will be a reminder to step things up and return to the quality we used to enjoy. read more

This was the absolute worst meal I've probably had in a very long time. I ordered sweet and sour chicken to go and when we opened it up something didn't look right. My daughter took a couple bites and she said it tasted weird. I looked at it and it didn't even look like chicken. I honestly don't even know what I was looking at...it most certainly wasn't chicken. So she tried to just eat the rice and upon opening that the rice was dry and crusty. She was sick the entire night until the morning. Truth is the totally inadequate descriptions of the flavors of the sauces on the menu are one step above worthless. Brown sauce, white sauce, light sauce, delicious sauce, hot spicy and many are mystery chef "secret sauces". Could they not say garlic and black bean or hosin ? Often touted as the best Chinese in Annapolis, had to try for myself. Clean, comfortable feel with tablecloths. Classic menu with specials unique to here. Won ton soup was small with mini wonton. To be clear, I have never eaten in--only takeout. Sometimes this place is good--sometimes not. By Annapolis standard it is decent Chinese when they actually try, but sometimes they just don't. The last time I was there I waited more than 10 minutes after calling in 10 minutes earlier. No big deal--except when my food finally came out it was with like 6 other orders. In other words--never order fried items to go; you will get a soggy mess. The only exception is the shrimp toast which is quite good. Their spare ribs are quite good too. Other than that be prepared to be disappointed. I ordered the Cantonese chicken. I could have done better. The breading was falling off. I threw most of it out. I also ordered the braised bean curd with added pork. I ordered this once before and it was quite good. This time it was like brown sauce soup with a lot of bean curd and a little pork. If I hadn't had to throw out the other crap I would have thrown this out instead. read more

Still the top of the pyramid of Asian / Chinese-American restaurants in Annapolis. It's a mix between "old school" American-Chinese, Asian and Cantonese Chinese food. Huge portions, fair prices and soooo delicious. Very consistent and never a disappointment. My favorite is their Egg Foo Yung and their Peking duck.
