This is an average clear broth PHO. It is very traditional and you will get what you expect. I don't think it is the best Pho in town, but I do have it most times I am in the area because I am a lover of Pho. When I first started coming here it seemed to be managed by Vietnamese but now it appears to be all Latino staffed. Perhaps it changed hands. The quality it still similar, I just appreciate when the ethnicity of the food matches the staff, when possible. But, the staff is friendly and the service is quick. Only thing I don't like is that they are open until 9:PM but it seems if you come after 8:30 they are cleaning up and don't really want to serve you. They should serve until closing time. This is not uncommon in restaurants, but you know... sometimes you really want that bowl of Pho! The search engines list them as OPEN, but they really aren't. I like it and will keep returning. I think we only have 4 Pho places in the Annapolis area (this, Eastport, Severna Park and Davidsonville) so we need to keep them all in business! :) read more

To each is own and liking with pho, but I prefer my broth not too salty and depth of flavor and aromatics is a must. I also prefer a light broth. The accoutrements provided were as expected, and the large serving is acceptable. The water served in Mason jars with handle is a nice touch. The menu is not as extensive as other shops, with only a few apps and no hot pot offerings. Service was friendly and food came out quick and pipping hot. I'm giving PHO 5UP 3 stars because - idk, it was just basic to me. PHO 5UP has been a place I've drove past multiple.. countless times even being familiar with the area for years, and finally - one day, I rounded up my two best girlfriends and told them it was time to get some pho! 2 out of 3 of us had never had it before, and for me personally - I just find ramen to be better. I found the broth at PHO 5UP to be somewhat bland - even with me ordering it spicy. There was also, only pork dumplings/gyoza available, which I wished there were other options. This has become a thing of ours ... finding a pho spot for dinner as we head home from road-trips. Today landed us in Annapolis heading home from the Chelsea match at FedEx field. I was pretty shocked when my bf said let's get Pho. I was gonna aim for Caribbean I mean we literally just baked in the sun for well over 3.5 hours. Now that we kinda have sample Pho's across a few states now we've become quite the judges. Flavor profiles and meat to noodle,noodle ratios and of course price point. So here's how this place ranked. Price is spot on! It's probably one of the most affordable ones we've been to. That said, they definitely didn't sacrifice on quality as both of us agreed that this place had the best beef to noodle ratio. Now that said my being a pastarian can and always wants more pasta n in this case Pho. The broth was not the best broth we've had and it certainly wasn't the worse. I do think that there should have been at least two meatball halves vs the quarter of a sliver that was in my bowl. Mind you there was a lot of meat just not the meatball. So over the last several months, I have tried to find anything wrong with this restaurant. What can I say this Pho hotspot is how other restaurants should conduct business. I have eaten here over 40 documented times, and each time the broth for the soup has been consistently flavorful, and hot. The vegetables served in the soup are always fresh and always clean. The meat is always perfectly trimmed, and adequate portions are always provided in each dish. The rice noodles given are cooked perfectly, with an ample portion size provided in each bowl. Talk about appetizers, the eggrolls are always fresh made in house and extremely hot and flavorful when they reach your table. Some of the best egg rolls in the area. Also the spring rolls are pretty delicious. Most importantly is the family like restaurant experience that you will receive after you have made several trips to the restaurant. Each time I walk in the door the staff asked me if I want my usual, I go to my usual table and my food is quickly delivered. Foods: we have been here throughout the years and thought we finally found our pho place in Annapolis (outside of Eden/NoVa). However, today, we walked in and instantly felt some sort of change has taken place. However, we waited to form an opinion after tasting the foods. We took a sip of pho broth, and knew it immediately - it's not the same! It was so so bland. More like chicken broth as there's no smell or taste of all spices associated with pho. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly young lady, and was seated right away. Service was fast during the entire visit! SHRIMP AND PORK SUMMER ROLLS-cooked ingredients were perfectly cooked, rice wrap wasn't gummy--it was definitely fresh. Two peanuts were walking down the street and they both ended up in the sauce. I think that's how the joke goes...anyway, sauce was rad. WELL-DONE BRISKET PHO-fresh herbs, nice aroma to broth, brisket was excellent. Such a large portion and good value for the price! I ate my fill, and still had enough to enjoy for dinner at home. VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE WITH BOBA-I have a place where I routinely get Vietnamese coffee, and I felt like this one was a little too sweet. Also, something to note, the boba did not taste like traditional tapioca pearl boba to me. The boba tasted more like a coffee jelly, of which it even had the same quintessential light brown color as coffee jelly would. Real deal pho. All the basics in a generic strip mall setting. Didn't try the summer rolls this time but I plan to on a return visit. The pho broth was flavorful and authentic. The noodles had a nice bite. We did try the taro milk tea which was creamy and not overly sweet. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was modern and clean. Also adding to the authenticity factor were several families of Vietnamese descent with their elderly parents. That's a pretty good recommendation to me! A solid option when in Annapolis. I've ordered twice from them thus far, picked up one and had the other order delivered. Both times I got the beef phó with rare beef and brisket. My second order I also got the veggie spring rolls with tofu. When you order the pho they give you an option of sides including veggies, or sprouts. I'm still not 100% certain if you get some sprouts, Basil leaves and lime regardless since I've ordered multiple things. But for my second time around I added the veggies as a side and it came with carrots and broccoli in a little bag you could add to the phó. There was a good amount of brisket and the rare beef came in a small separate bag that I pulled apart for more pieces. I always eat up my noodles before the broth but there was a good noodles to meat ratio. The broth itself was better the second time since it probably got to reduce and build better flavor. The first time I ordered was during the lunch hour and the broth wasn't very flavorful. I recommend ordering their phó for dinner so the broth has better flavor. The spring rolls aka vegetarian summer rolls were tasty and well stuffed with carrot, tofu, and veggies but no vermicelli noodles. The accompanying sauces were standard and delicious as always. If you're in Annapolis this is a solid option for phó. read more

After a blustery cold morning at Quiet Waters Park my husband and I needed to thaw out so we went for Pho 5Up for lunch. We were warmly greeted and although the small restaurant was inviting enough we decided to get pho to go. We ordered the spring rolls and two varieties of pho and it was all so delicious! Not being very adventurous we stuck to beef (we're working our way up to tripe). I loved how flavorful the broth was and all of the fresh veggies. I felt out meal was warming and healthy. Everything was packages with great care which was appreciated since we had a seven-ish mile drive home. Came in from Delaware and it was def worth the trip. The restaurant is tucked inside a nice plaza with other food establishments. I went on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy, we all shuffled for parking spots but it wasn't a headache. We have been looking for a good pho place since we left CA. This place was excellent. It is conveniently located near the shopping centers. It is easy to get to, there is ample parking, and the location is very clean and modern. I had the rare steak pho and the broth was seasoned perfectly and the veggies were crisp and fresh. When we arrived the restaurant was full so we opted to sit at the bar counter by the door. It was a little drafty so as soon as a table opened up they quickly cleaned it off and offered to move us.
