Shrimp General T'so's shrimp
Deanna C.

I craved General Tso's shrimp, so I went back for a second time. This time, I decided to add an order of Shrimp fried rice. While the rice tasted good, I was very disappointed with the amount given for 18 dollars. I will admit that they put big-quality shrimp in the rice, but I should have been given more.

Posing with the sushi boat I barely touched

I will for sure be back! Customer service at this place was a one. We were greeted and seated immediately the sushi was wonderful. My husband ordered a love boat and I will just let him get it because he's been wanting a laptop that we came back to the mainland. Octopus on the boat it's really tasty. My Gyoza was cooked perfectly I also had some sort of some sushi that had eel on it. I can't remember the name but that was pretty tasty too. This is probably some of the best sushi I've had in a really long time! I definitely plan on visiting this place we we have our next night out!

Hands down the best sushi in town. They also don't skim on the ginger which is rare these days!

Does the restaurant have real crab meat? I like California rolls but I won't eat imitation crab. I am from Maryland.

Yes, real crab

While we waited I had the soup which was not Miso but beef broth. It was good. The salad sat in dressing which made the iceberg lettuce soggy but ehh it was alight. The noodles were a funny looking color. Even though they were lo mein shaped noodles, they did not taste like anything. He did not really season the food good, the garlic was thrown on the food but not until the last min. The shrimp was not all the way clean. I have had way better hibachi. We were giving to go boxes and not even asked if we need anything else. Five mins later I e were given the check. We felt rush and the place was no where near busy.. I wouldn't go back! It's just not for me. My friend was sick as soon as we left. P.s the lemon drop martini was really good and the soup.

We got squid salads and one baby octopus appetizer. They were in oddly huge bowls with super small portions but the taste was good. We ordered three rolls that were outstanding. Too bad my husband didn't get any ginger or wasabi. I lifted the small bowl for soy sauce and it stuck to the table. I refrained from another drink and that was probably the best idea since the total bill with tip was over $100. And there definitely wasn't a happy hour discount. Overall the food was good, portion size on appetizers not good, and happy hour is a no go. We may try hibachi one day but we're not hurrying back.

For reservations, they don't use any of the popular reservation platforms, so I called their number to schedule a reservation. Fortunately, I was able to make it for the same day- Friday evening, no less! The restaurant is in a house, and they asked me if we were okay with the second floor (bearing in mind there are stairs). There are two rooms on the second floor with a several tables in each, and there were people, so we weren't isolated. There is also a restroom located on the second floor, so you don't have to go down the stairs to use the restroom. We parked across the street in a public parking lot. We received complimentary (warm) bread and butter! You don't see that much anymore. We started off with drinks. I had the Korean spicy margarita, which I loved, and my husband had the strawberry rhubarb cider, which was also good. The menu offers many choices for both appetizers and entrees. We ordered two appetizers- the Asian beef lettuce wraps (3 lettuce wraps- when you're a party of 2 or 4, that number is annoying!) and the short rib ravioli. Both apps were wonderful. For entrees, don't forget the specials. We ordered the soft-shell crab special and also the duo of duck off the entrees menu. The vegetables in both dishes were fresh, and the sauces were complimentary to the mains. Close to being unable to eat any more, but we simply had to close the fantastic dinner with desserts. I ordered the lemon semi-freddo and my husband ordered the flourless chocolate cake, and both passed the taste test. We were pleased with the attentive service, food, and vibes, and would keep this place in mind when we come back to this area!

I liked the addition of panko breadcrumbs for crunch, but I wish the imitation crab meat had been shredded more finely for better texture. For my entree, I ordered the Spicy Basil Crispy Duck (added $1 for Thai spicy). They definitely delivered on the spicy level, but the duck itself was not crispy. It came with rice and bell peppers and basil. The sushi tasted fresh, which was good. Service could use some improvement. We had to ask for small bowls for soy sauce, and when we requested a dessert menu to celebrate the birthday, we were told the kitchen had already closed. It would have been nice if our server had given us a heads up before the kitchen closed. The ambiance is cozy. It almost feels like dining in someone's house. They had Halloween decorations up and murals of historic Frederick painted on the walls. They also have a private parking lot, which made it convenient. Overall, food was good, but a little more attentiveness from the staff would've made the experience even better.

Neighborhood chicken bowl mild: delicious the chicken breading is crispy and has the perfect curry taste without being overpowering. The pickled veggies with it is a great palate cleanser and balances all the flavors. I got it mild and while I was nervous of the spice level being too much for me (I'm a weenie) it was perfect, the kind of spice that actually adds to the dish instead of hurting you. Tempura broccoli: So good! Crunchy without being oily, it had a bunch of herbs on it the brightened the whole dish. Ancho chile pork bun: perfectly smokey and meaty without being fatty. This one we really struggled to eat as an actually sandwich because the pork is cubed so it just falls out the sides. The buns are a fun addition and have good texture so I'm happy we tried it, but if I went back I would be fine without it. Crab Rangoon: I was a bit skeptical about 1 crab Rangoon being $10 but that is because o was thinking of my midwestern type of crab rangoons. This was PACKED with actual crab and not a whole lot of cream cheese so the price made more sense when I figured that out. Still very good, but did not stand out amongst the rest. The place was so cool inside, they had about 7-10 bar seats inside with 2 tables outside, I recommend taking this to go. The service was nice and quick, you can tell they have a very efficient process. My only suggestion would be to turn the music down a little bit because it was hard for me and my husband to just talk to each other about plans that we had for the rest of the day. I also tried the ancho chile pork bun. The bun itself tasted amazing, but it was a bit difficult to eat. The bottom got pretty soggy while the top bun was thick and tall, so it kind of fell apart while eating.
