The fact that this place isn't busier than normal is such a shock to me. I know I've already reviewed this place but my mom and I actually stopped going because we were used to another Japanese hibachi. But after it had gone downhill we decided to try Kodo's again and god did we forget how good it is. They have both hibachi and Chinese food and they actually have Chinese combos that are decently priced and you get a good amount of food even for lunch. The hibachi grills aren't used which kind of suck but the food holds up nonetheless. The sashimi is really good and the food is as fresh as it can get. I would 100% recommend people come and try it at least once

I was looking for a good Indian dish. Somehow I got lost end up getting some good sushi.

Went to neighborhood Kodo yesterday night. Kodo is a nice hibachi and sushi restaurant. They are typically never busy and you will be seated right away. If you are going for hibachi they have not been cooking on their grills in months. You will still enjoy the same hibachi food without the show that comes along with it. The reason for 3 stars is due to the service. There is usually only one server on every time, the food takes a while to come out. The drinks are ok. They don't have to many brown liquors which I prefer. Overall I would give them a try if you are looking for a quick no wait option, there are other hibachi options in the area, but they are typically crowded.

Mapo Tofu
Courtney R.

Kodo Hibachi has been our spot for Chinese/Japanese cuisine. The dinner combos are on point and so is the sushi. I decided to try one of my vegetarian favorites, mapo tofu. I've never been to China but I've ordered it enough in DC, on the west coast, northeast, and never had mapo tofu fried rice style. Again, the food is typically great. Would I recommend mapo tofu? If you love peas and carrots, 12/10. If you like the spice and sauce of mapo tofu, uninterrupted, I would pass.

Shrimp and scallops combo

Our food lack seasoning and the portion was actually small don't be deceived by the photograph the rice makes it look like a larger portion. The shrimp was overcooked as well for the steak. The noodles were rubbery and just terrible. Not a great experience and the price did not fit the food at all.

Ordered carry out and all the food came in pretty well prepared. Would def order out again. The veggie low mein and the soba noodles however left a little more to desire, tasted flavorless. Everything else however tasted pretty good and the salmon rolls tasted great.

Hand rolled spicy salmon sushi

I ordered a spicy salmon roll through yelp and it asks you to select roll or hand roll, and every time I've had a "hand roll" in the past it mean that it was just a normal sushi roll. Apparently not. It's a burrito. I ordered a miso soup and they didn't provide a spoon. Normally not a problem except this was an order to take to a bar. A restaurant must not assume every to-go order is going home. So now I have no way to eat my soup and no clean way to eat this sushi burrito. Ordered again, by mistake, and it's even worse the second time. Don't go here. They literally do not care about anything they send out their kitchen. Update: they tried to hide my review because I left it on the Empire Garden page, so I moved it to Kudo for y'all.

Yellowtail sushi roll and California roll

I LOVE sushi. And this spot is definitely being added to my go-to-sushi list! Although quarantined, I wanted to be able to review this place anyway. The soy sauce however is a bit salty, so if you're watching your salt I would be careful. The avocado was fresh in the salad, so colorful and yummy! You don't get fresh avocado from everywhere so I appreciated that. Today was my first time trying yellowtail sushi roll and I wasn't really a fan. I can't decide if it was between the texture or the taste. Overall, definitely a sushi spot worth going to! I can't wait til this quarantine lifts so I can officially dine in. If you want to try a new sushi spot to add to your list, try this one!

Sushi lovers...this is the place to be! I haven't ordered any sushi in this restaurant that I did not enjoy. They are reasonably priced and the entire staff are always friendly. The Chinese food is also very tasty. Although, I wasn't a fan of their hibachi...it was just okay. I frequent here just for their sushi.

Steak and Chicken Hibachi

In the area for work. Needed some decent, non fast food. Ordered thru a delivery AP. The food is fantastic!! I got the chicken and steak hibachi and crab Rangoon. The only real negative is that they did not send the ginger sauce or the yum yum sauce. Isn't the yum yum half the reason for getting Hibachi??? I think so. If the sauces had been there, this would be a five star review. The steak wasn't budget cut tough. There was no place to specify temperature, but it came medium to mid well. The chicken wasn't cooked dry. What salad that was there was fresh, bright lettuce. You get noodles and fried rice. I definitely had enough for another nights dinner. It's the little things.

General Tsao's chicken with white meat

Absolutely amazing food!!! Probably best Chinese I have had in the area. Will be back soon to try the sushi. Probably the best Chinese food I have had in Maryland. I ordered the General Tsao's Chicken with white meat, which was excellent. I also had the beef udon stir fry and wings. The order had 5 while wings that they separated and it actually was 10 pieces..

The place itself is in a shopping center with ample free parking. I had the dinner bento box with teriyaki chicken and it was a LOT of food for $19.95! Besides the chicken, there were udon noodles with some broccoli and carrots (yaki udon), 6 bite-sized California rolls, three fried shumai, and about 1/2 breast of teriyaki chicken. Plus a salad and cup of miso. Just want to say, all of the ingredients were fresh and the veggies were crisp-tender, yum. I generally avoid chicken breast dishes because they tend to be too dry. This was borderline for me. Very tasty teriyaki sauce, etc., but the strips of chicken were dry to being almost inedible for me. I'm picky that way ;) My DGD enjoyed her ramen and DD liked the Pink Lady roll. Out the door with tip, just over $57 and that's a bit ouchy for me but we all have leftovers, so it works out to $28 per meal, I guess that's not bad. I would like to try some other menu items, and DD said she wants to take DGD there for lunch sometime. So it seems we will be back.

I was a first timer and she's been once before. Given the name, I figured it was a seafood restaurant. Although some seafood is on the menu, Pier 99 is primarily a Sushi/Asian food restaurant. I think a name change should be in order.. Lol! I literally had to switch up my taste buds to partake in some sushi! I ordered a seafood boil because I couldn't switch them up fast enough while she ordered sushi. I actually love the concept because so many people aren't sushi fans but most folks get down with seafood! The food was actually good and they pulled off both cuisines effortlessly! My margarita was as good as any chain Mexican restaurant, so that was additional plus given the Mexican holiday. The interior is on the smaller side, however, they offer booth seating and it has a decent size bar. If I lived in the Upper Marlboro/Bowie area like I used to, I'd come here often but since I don't, I'll occasionally stop in when I'm in the area! Good job Pier 99!
