We are from Sacramento so we drove through Livermore on the way home and the wife and I were craving Vietnamese food. For some odd reason only this establishment is open on Tuesday? Their spring rolls were a good size and the peanut sauce that accompanied it was very good. I was already stuffed eating only the spring rolls and beef salad. I have enjoyed going to this restaurant for many years. Recently the quality has gone down. For example today I ordered one of my favorite dishes: shrimp with tomato sauce. It has generally come with 9 or 10 shrimp in a delicious sauce. Today it came with 4 shrimp and 8 calamari. When I asked about it, I was told that I needed specify shrimp only if I didn't want the chef to substitute. I guess I have always assumed that if you order shrimp in a restaurant, you would get shrimp. I now know that at least at this restaurant I was mistaken. read more

Pho bowl has a very big portion. Combo set is cheap. It comes with 1 roll, 1 regular pho and 1 soda. Bean sprouts and basil are fresh. The only thing I didn't like is about the Bun Bo Hue. it only has 2 toppings: brisket and tendon. BBH is supposed to also have beef flank and pork sausage / pork leg. Excellent place for a solid chicken pho takeout. They have really good quality ingredients and the delivery was pretty quick. We ordered the chicken pho, steak pho and spring rolls. I took one star off because the takeout containers make it impossible to eat the pho without a bowl. The dry ingredients were in a flat box and soup in a different container. I would recommend they use a bowl shaped takeout container for the dry ingredients so customers can pour the soup over it. Otherwise everything was excellent! Might not seem like much when you pass by, but it's great. I love getting asian cuisine from family owned businesses and this did not disappoint. I've tried a lot of Pho restaurants in the area, this is the worst I've tried. I got the "rare steak slices pho" and the meat was chunky as opposed to thinly sliced. The broth had so much cilantro that it ruined the flavor of the broth. The service was also poor. Okay... I think it's about time I review this place.. after all, I've only come here twice a week for the last year. This is one of my go-to lunch places in Livermore (the other one being Lanni Thai). The entrance is a little hidden - I always tell people I'm meeting there that it's off of 2nd Street, behind the Donut Wheel, near Wells Fargo - that usually gets them there. I usually get the chicken pho and add veggies to it (they add carrots and broccoli) - then I add in all the goodies. I have coworkers that get a variety of things on the menu, and they all love this place. We have ventured out to other area pho places, but this is our favorite. Food is consistently good. It may take a few minutes if they are busy, but the ladies that work here are very nice and will be sure to get you what you need. read more

Can you say... portions?! Visiting from out of town and was craving a soul-comforting bowl of pho. It was satisfying not only Bc the pho was tasty and savory, but we got a lot of it! They jam-pack the boxes. The vermicelli was good as well with plenty of pork and grilled shrimp. The only mediocre meal was the shrimp roll & the peanut butter sauce. It lacks the peanut buttery nutty flavor i was used to and a bit runnier (I like my sauce peanut buttery and thicker). I had high hopes for the food at this place because of most of the reviews in pictures. Maybe, it was just an off day. Arrived at 11 (they opened at 10:30) and we didn't get our food until 11:40. Now, I've been to soooo many Vietnamese restaurants and it never takes this long to get the food especially if the order is pho. My guess is that the pho broth was still simmering or developing flavor because the pho we tried was very much lacking flavor. I also got pork and shrimp Bun. Noodles were a little hard and the fish sauce/sauce also lacked flavor. The only good dish was the shrimp fresh roll. The large size is a valid large bowl size in comparison to what other restaurants consider large in this area but does not make up the favor of the pho even if you add plum and hot sauce on it. The Cajun wings were tasty but a touch sweet and definitely not spicy or anything I would consider to be anywhere near 'Cajun.' Saving the best for last: The pho. The broth was well seasoned, the flavors were there, the steak was nice and cooked perfectly. I squeezed a lime in mine and added some sriracha sauce. Delicious. I had to take the rest to go because I couldn't finish it and I bought a 'regular' size.. so beware of getting something large. So hard to find vegan pho and theirs is top notch, the broth is so tasty and it's a lot of food for the regular size. Great service and cute little place located conveniently walking distance to everything downtown. I went by myself for lunch and it was very peaceful and not weird to eat alone there. I'm puzzled with the 4-star Yelp rating. Coming in on a busy Friday night, it took 25 min before we got our pho. Service is lacking, but I cared more about the food. Ordered the rare steaks and brisket pho. Brisket was okay, probably the highlight of the meal. Nothing spectacular on the rare steaks. Noodles were average, but I could not agree with the broth. It tasted like someone had dropped a bottle of cloves into the soup accidentally. It was so overpowering that I could hardly taste anything else. It ruined the soup. Had the A combo which came with a drink and I chose the fresh shrimp roll. The peanut sauce was not typical. It seemed diluted? And chunks of the basil leaves were too hard that I almost felt that I wanted to spit them out. I ordered lemonade as the soft drink, but my friend had the Thai iced tea. He likes Thai iced tea, but he didn't finish this one. Yes, it's possible that this could have been an off night, but really? On a busy Friday night? Shouldn't you be on your A game? I love my smartphone exactly for this reason. We were in DT Livermore and we needed to find a place to eat. The handy Yelp App and my google map led me to this place around the corner. Not much to look at from the outside but Yelpers seemed to like it so I was not deterred and you shouldn't be either. There were a number of patrons inside and we sat down at a table. There was one server. Ok, usually Pho is served quickly. No problem. We ordered Combo A which is a noodle soup, a fried egg roll or fresh shrimp roll, and a soda for $8.90 or so. The other Combo was $10 or so for egg/shrimp roll, soda and rice plate. Not too bad for combo plate pricing. I felt that individual pricing for Pho and rice plates were about $1 more than I'm used to. Service was a bit crappy since she only refilled drinks once. The food though was really good. The rice plate had large beef cubes, freshly sauteed onions and green bell peppers. There was a mound of fresh cucumbers on the side along with the tasty rice. Came here with the Livermore family for our monthly get together and settled on this place for some vittles. I don't usually end up in Vietnamese restaurants but I thought it would be an adventure nonetheless. I was fully expecting to order a pho bowl or vermicelli bowl but I ended up going with a House Special Chow Mein ($12.45). Unlike most Chinese restaurants, I feel like the flavor profile on this one was different in a good way. Everyone around the table seemed to enjoy their dishes as well and I was eyeing my Aunt's dish (Clay Pot Rice - $13.45) which I'm certain I'll get next time! Food is delicious all around. The ambiance was lacking however, seemed too loud in there and there were some hygiene issues I noticed but overall it was a good visit and time. Ordered the bun thit nuong, grilled pork and shrimp, and was quite disappointed with the quality and execution. The shrimp was boiled then very light grilled. No seasoning of flavor. Grilled pork was pretty much the same as the shrimp. The greens looked like they came out of a salad bag and herbs, not fresh. The carrots were not pickled. Well, ok... I'm from Vallejo where pho is done like nowhere else. Vallejo has the BEST pho in calizuela, erm, commiefornia, i mean California. That said... However we are used to better. I would definitely eat here again, yet the weird egg roll sauce looked and smelled like a urine sample. Thus the lower ratings.
