Have been going there for several years and the food and service is consistently good. However, in the past several months I've noticed a change in their coffee. They used to have a very good, robust, and flavorful coffee but now it tastes like coffee you get from up North....weak and lacking flavor. I came on a weekday and unfortunately just missed breakfast, but we got lunch instead. The food we got was good! I got the chicken fried chicken with country gravy, and it was tasty. I didn't like the green beans it came with; they were bland and not worth eating. However, the chicken itself was very good, as were the potatoes. I'd love to come back for the breakfast. read more

I like this comfy little spot! Service is great! When I asked if their coffee was strong they offered to make a strong pot just for me! Just left this place a few minutes ago! Stopped in for a quick lunch 30 minutes before they closed. So glad we did! It's small and doesn't look like much from the outside. It's small and humble! It was the best place we ate at during our whole week long vacation from Texas to Florida. We got the chicken fried steak, catfish poyboy and a bread pudding to go. We also got a small cup of thr gumbo which has been the best ive had in Louisiana. It all was so delicious. Whether you are a local or just passing through, This is a must stop! Hands down, the BEST place to eat in Slidell for home style breakfast and lunch. The prices are more than reasonable and the food is super. We love having breakfast there, my wife likes the fact her hot tea comes in a little tea pot, it is the little touches like this that makes S & H Good Eats such a treat to dine at. The daily specials and build your own combos are another plus. Catfish poboy had very light breading and the fish filet was big. The green chili french fries were loaded with green chilis and melted cheese. Yummy!
