Terry Lynn's Cafe is a great little local place located in Old Downtown Slidell. This quaint and walkable area is a great place to visit, and while one is there, one can get a homestyle meal in a quaint little local restaurant! This hidden gem has a great menu, which includes hearty homestyle favorites, like the incredible hamburger steak. It also has seafood dishes, including sone great shrimp and catfish options. Then there are the po-boys, sandwiches and wraps. There are full meal and smaller salads for grazing. And one of my favorite features is the side dish selections. One can customize one's meal with these to be hearty to healthy or a combination thereof! The finest though is the homestyle baked macaroni and cheese, at least in my humble opinion. Service is friendly and attentive, and the prices are fair. You should try out this little local place for a satisfying experience in Slidell. read more

Home style cafe vibes Menu was vast from salads to seafood. I chose the Catfish and Shrimp plate. Filet was a very big portion and the shrimp were definitely jumbo I got side of veggies and this was not what I expected. Chargrilled and full of flavors! As for the Mac-n-Cheese, get it if you love cheese. I do and I will say it's worth it. I'm almost positive there were 42 1/2 layers of cheese and noodle. Delish! My only knock, tarter did not taste homemade and I'm a stickler for dips/dressing being bought. Mainly because I know how simple it is to just make them. It could be homemade but I didn't get that. Otherwise, the cocktail sauce tasted homemade. Different vibe than usual. More of a chunky salsa consistency with some heat. Wasn't mad about it. Overall would I go back. Yes. I had to have a little work done on my car that was gonna take about an hour so I walked over to Terry Lynn's breakfast. I ordered a pretty simple breakfast with eggs over easy, hashbrowns, and ham. I was expecting a little ham steak, but instead, there was a few pieces of thinly sliced ham that they threw on the grill for a couple minutes. The hashbrowns were barely cooked and mushy. I understand when websites have older prices on their menu because I'm sure it's hard to keep up on all the internet sites but the menu I was handed had set prices. When the bill came, the price of the breakfast was over a dollar more than their menu price. Even if ownership is too cheap to order new menus they should at least scratch out the old price and write in the price they're charging now. When I brought it to the waitresses attention she acted like it was no big deal. In hindsight, I should've took the price out of the tip, but instead I just won't go back. read more

I gave the red beans and rice a try. Not so good. Too many other places in town with delicious beans. Other items are good here though.

This was my first visit, I had been really wanting to try the Cafe. I Googled the Cafe before driving that direction to make sure they were open, which they were according to Google. I arrived and the Open sign was on so I parked. On the door the hours posted were 6:30 am to 2 pm, so I went inside. The sign said seat yourself so I picked a table. I was seated for a few minutes when a young lady informed me that they stopped serving breakfast at 10 am (it was 10:10) and that they would not start serving lunch for 10 more minutes. Due to the timing, I didn't feel like I could stay. My disappointment with the Cafe is solely based on how the situation was handled, the young lady was pleasant and the food may be incredible. However, customer experience is a great deal of the experience of dining, and in this they failed. I will probably try them again, but this could have been 5 stars rather than 2. read more

Just getting around to writing this review. At first I was going to let it go but the more I think about it dove me crazy. So here it goes. It was a Thursday and I was in old town with a buddy. We said let eat in old town (breakfast), well we head down to Terry Lynn's and when we got to the door it said the prices have increased due to COVID-19. Well we said let's go in and help them out. We sit down and the waitress told us breakfast is over and it is now lunch, so we both said that is fine we will take some burgers. Now what's comes next is what is driving me crazy. The waitress tells us that we have to wait till 10:30 to order, that is when lunch's starts. We said your kidding we are sitting down and we can't order for another half hour. Well now we got up and left the business and going out the door just had to take a picture of the sign that blames any lost of money on covid-19. It will be a long time before I walk in the doors again. So we walk to the truck and hopped in it a went straight to the Cracker Barrel. I went to the Dr today, and one of the nurses recommended this place. And OMG!!!! She said the food was good. And I'm really enjoying the food as well as the staff. I will return. So this neighborhood joint has never disappointed me for breakfast or lunch and I mean, ever. I was there for lunch today and ordered from the daily special 'shrimp philly wrap' fried with onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato with mayo and salad with blue cheese dressing. I also ordered the loaded fries as an appetizer and after finishing everything up, had trouble walking towards my car. Just kidding. The prompt, courteous and professional service is always provided with a smile. I would definitely recommend anyone in the slidell area (northshore) to give Terry Lynn's Cafe a try. In the area for work and starved. I found this place close to where I was working. It had 5 stars so I had to give it a try. Super glad I did. Promptly seated and order taken..I didn't waste time because I was hungry. I ordered a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo that was very tasty with a nice Dats roux. For my meal I ordered a chicken salad on croissant with homemade chips. Not sure what all was in it but I sure Loved it. The homemade chips were a mice touch. My husband and I stopped in at the recommendation from the man who works at Who Dat! This place did not disappoint. I had a 1/2 a muffaletta, it was delicious and definitely met my expectations (It was my 1st x having tried one). It was piled thick with meats, (I didn't take the best pic of the sandwich but trust me, lots of meat!) served warm and you could tell at least the salami was lightly fried. Topped with an olive tapenade that I loved. The bread was sesame seeded and was toasted perfectly! We'll be in town for another week and I just may go back to Slidell for another one. I had the homemade chips which were also great and came with 2 sauces, one jalapeno and the other ranch. Both good but I loved the jalapeno more and went perfectly with the chips. The waitress was nice and offered us to go cups with fresh iced tea. A lot of tables and the floor were dirty when we first arrived but there was only 1 waitress and she was very busy. She cleaned them up and swept while we were there and I was glad to see that. A local customer came in and we chatted for awhile. He had his doggy waiting outside for him which was nice. His doggy loved our scratches on his back as we were leaving. The people there in Slidell are friendly, helpful and willing to talk to you and offer great suggestions. Just had a great chicken salad poorboy with Gouda cheese that was fantastic! I suggested it tasted really good and the owner confirmed I was not by myself because they make up a tremendous amount each day. This place is fantastic. Our salon was recommended to try the café and we did. We were very pleased and satisfied! Our food was delicious. I got the chicken salad sandwich on poboy bread... amazing. It is so fresh, chunky and light. The other girls got the eggplant alfredo & club sandwich...and we all were in heaven when we tried it. Super disappointed today when my sisters and I arrived (after driving from New Orleans) at 10am and the staff politely told us that they were not serving any food for half an hour because they were switching from breakfast to lunch. I've worked in a few kitchens and found it really odd that we couldn't order food for 30 minutes. I'm not sure if we would have stayed and waited that long to order our food, but I had a 1 year old with me so that was definitely out of the question. Looked like a cute little spot.
