Searched Yelp for bar and grills while in Slidell visiting my son, this gem popped up and we decided to try it out. I had the shrimp tacos. Delicious, plump shrimp with thinly shredded cabbage, pico and a spicy sauce. I was pleasantly surprised. Husband had the island fries with shredded chicken. Crinkle cut fries, pico, sour cream drizzle and the chicken. Stellar. I had two signature cocktails. The presentation was perfectly on theme. Tiki glasses with decorative fruit. The flavor was very tasty, but I felt the alcohol content was very low. Ambiance was exactly what I wanted to see! So may tiki themed details inside and outside. Cute place! Server was nice but couldn't answer any of my questions or offer suggestions. I ordered th skirt steak tacos. Food seemed fresh but was bland. I absolutely love Gilligils! The food is always consistent and delicious. They have the BEST margarita. I come here about once a week. Everyone is always so polite, service is great, & the atmosphere is the best! You can access it by water too! We are so excited to come see some live music now that they have built a brand new stage. Definitely one of my top spots in Slidell! read more

Had a large family group of 13 at GilliGil's Island in Slidell and had a great time. GilliGil's Island is a great family friendly bar and eatery, with a friendly, welcoming persona and a laid back island vibe. Great service and friendly people add to the experience. We enjoyed an array of favorites, including burgers, po'boys, craft beers, and specialty cocktails. The highlight may have been the shareable shrimp and sausage platter with corn and peppers, all served up in the best Louisiana boil style. All good! I got a side salad which wasn't bad at all for the price and a Cuban sandwich which was pretty good. The young girl servers were very nice and sweet. The issues I had was I had to ask for everything, no condiments given, eg, salt/pepper, ketchup for the fries, only a fork when the lettuce was big layers chucks that needed to be cut. Also, the to go boxes were the cheapest cardboard boxes that were very hard to close. Buy some decent styofoam boxes like most restaurants use. The music was way too loud esp. for lunchtime. Speaker I think was right over my head. They played only Country music which I don't care for and found it strange being that the theme of the restaurant is tropical, island life, etc. You wd think they wd. be playing Jaimacian or Jimmy Buffett, soft rock, top 40 but all of it was Country which I didn't enjoy. Beautiful recently built Tiki hut themed stage with thatch roof. Const. Co. did a good job! Also, I sat at the outside snack bar facing the water, across from the bar. To my left were all these sick and dead plants that needed to be thrown out. Soil on the deck from where they must have turned over, it was pretty disgusting looking and bad ambiance. I hope the owners read my review, like the place and will go back but definitely need improvements. What a cool restaurant with a very relaxing island feel. Food was excellent! Would have been a 5 star review but I have two negatives. One, stay away from the mixed drinks... Expensive, and I really don't think there was any alcohol in them. My wife had two and they were all sugary fruit juice. The margaritas sucked. I had the local hazy IPA, which was excellent because it's hard to find a good IPA on the east coast. Second negative is, I ordered chicken nachos. Our waitress gave me chicken fries. I told her that's not what I ordered and she said, "sorry, I've had a long day". I didn't want to make a big deal and ate the fries and they were good, however I feel I should have been offered a replacement or a discount on the tab. Nope, full tab and with my wife's "drinks" were pretty costly. I still highly recommend and will go back myself next time I'm in town. read more

Went here on a day date the service was friendly and the place was surprisingly big in the back. I loved you can eat outside close to the lake. The food was flavorful and really good. The only downside was there was a hair in one of my margaritas for the flight but they did replace it. read more

I love the vibe of this place - it's right on the water. The music is happy and fun. They have swings! They have outdoor seating that's covered and uncovered. Looks like a great place for kids, too, since they have an amazing outdoor play area. And to make things even better: they are DOG FRIENDLY! Love it! The service was fantastic! Everyone was super friendly and we got our food quickly. The food was amazing! I ordered the mixed tostada that had a variety of seafood and it was spicy but delicious! The ambiance is definitely welcoming. Me and my family went during the night but we will definitely try this establishment during the day to take advantage of the outside area. Swings tables and playground for the kids. The service was really caring. We had a new waitress it was her second day so we had patience and so did she. The azado tacos are really good had a lot of spice to it but who doesn't like spice. The Baja shrimp tacos are the best. The shrimp are a nice size and the sauce on top is delish. The side salad was just what it was a side salad don't assume it is shareable because it is not. I will definitely update my review once I try this establishment in the day time. read more

Stopped in on a cold January afternoon, so we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor dock/bar area. However, it looks like it'd be a lot of fun in warmer weather. The service from everyone was great! Kate took care of our table. When we wanted to get a flight of beer with no IPA, she came back with a list of only non-IPA beer. We just ate there for lunch. The food was very good, as was the service. We sat outside enjoying the breeze. It's nice to find a place without music blaring so loud you can't talk. They also allow dogs, so my wife wants to bring the disaster dog next time. I'm sure we will be back. I'm not so sure about bringing the dog. read more

This was our first time at GilliGil's and it was great! Our waitress Harley was very sweet and helpful. The Island fries were amazing and large enough for 3-4 people. I had the Margarita flight, those were tasty ,. My son hurt himself in the play area and our lovely waitress bought him some churro fries. His response was "She's the best" and he was right. There in January in a Saturday around lunch. Was not impressed at all. The tuna dip pretty much kept us from ordering anything else. It was basically like making tuna fish from a can with a little mayo. Did not stay to order anything else. The waiter acted like he did not care if we were there or not. We won't be back. Ordered the mixed caviche tostado. Didn't know it was raw fish and octopus. Menu did not say that. Menu should have described that it was a raw dish and the waitress should have explained that before ordering. It was completely disgusting. Could not eat it. Only found out it was raw until I reasearched that dish later on. At restaurant, I just thought it was a cold dish but I was wrong and waitress never told me it was raw and didn't want to replace it with something else. Won't be going there again read more

Second time here and we love it. Small menu but everything we've tried so far has been. Wings are fantastic and my husband loved the shrimp and potato tacos. Our server Matt was really nice. The owner came over to chat and was very nice. Can't wait to come back on Sunday for crawfish and brunch no the grandson to play on the out door play area. This place is a hidden gem in Slidell. It has the best outdoor sitting area I have seen here. There is a playground structure for kids to play on, an outdoor bar, swings at the deck railing, and great bands! I had the fish tacos which were amazing!
