Wherever you sit, you'll feel the warmth of this place from the friendly staff and beers offered. The standouts on the menu are definitely the birria tacos and baja fish tacos. The tacos are warm and crunchy in side out. I thought the menu is pretty creative by offering the White Boy Taco as an option which might be taken the wrong way. Slidell has definitely been good to me, from the beers to the food. Before leaving, I made a stop at Tacos and Beer. I've seen their location in New Orleans and have been meaning to try it, but just hadn't had the time. So when I saw the sign in Slidell, I took it as a sign to slow down and finally experience it. Such a great place for a number of reasons, the tacos may actually be the least of them. My dad, a family friend and I came for dinner at 730 on a Saturday night, it wasn't super busy but we sat at the bar anyway. The music they played was good, a nice blend of 2000 to current. We'd never been there before so we went with waiter Jayson's suggestion, the birria tacos, the gnarly tacos, and the carne asade meal. It was absolutely packed when me and my (one) other party member got there, so I was understanding of things taking a longer time. Until it cleared out and my table continued to be neglected. No refills. no checkups. Nothing. Once ~4 tables clear out and it's no longer packed with people you'd think I could at least get a refill for my drink. The food here is great and decently priced! I got grilled fish tacos and the portions were large and delicious. It was actually some of the best mexican rice I've ever had. If you want a drink here, I recommend getting the titular one: beer. I saw a margarita menu and decided to try the "premium" hand squeezed one for $14. It was a large margarita for sure, but for it being hand squeezed it actually wasn't very delicious. It didn't taste like fresh juice to me and if there was fresh juice in there it tasted like it had something super sugary and sour added into it, like a sour mix. Decently strong though so it might just depend on your flavor preference. Tall boy PBRs are cheap delicious. It was super busy on a saturday afternoon of course, with lots of loud families, and the service was somewhat slow. It took us a long time to be acknowledged so I wasn't sure if we had messed up by seating ourselves. But no, we were supposed to. After we got to put our food orders in it improved somewhat. There are several reasons I give a 3 star on this review. I went there about a week ago with a group of friends and it took almost an hour to get the food. The waiter seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people and he was taking drink orders and skipped over a few people that was at the table. His communication was minimal because he would walk away without a word, leaving us confused because you were in the middle of taking orders. Then when he returned he went to another table instead of finishing up at the previous table. The only help he had was when the food was brought out to the tables, but he clearly needed assistance before that. The restaurant itself was clean so no fuss about that. The food, my tamale was super dry but I managed to eat one because I was starving and still had a long day ahead of me. Others enjoyed portions of their meals, but some food wasn't hot, some didn't get what they actually ordered and one of the ladies food came out after most of us were finished and she ordered Nachos and the cheese wasn't hot. We have been going to this location for a few years now. At least once a week, usually twice. Food quality and service have steadily gone done. Our latest visit was to-go food and drinks on a Wednesday. Due to recent issues with getting our order right, we questioned the server/bartender about our order accuracy. She rudely said "Yes it is" And just walked off. We checked and order looked correct. When we got home with the food we found they had put the wrong protein on our quesadillas. We called to tell them of the error and were told "well you checked it before you left". We did but we didn't feel it was necessary to peel open each quesadilla to check if the protein was correct. Manager lady has always been rude but the employees made the difference. Not anymore. Will not be back until something changes. Do better Tacos And Beer, we miss going. read more

This is a nice restaurant that has outdoor patio seating on the sidewalk, bar seating and dining room seating. There is free street parking available on adjacent streets. The patio consists of picnic tables on the sidewalk. The bar is a fully stock bar with seating and the dining area is somewhat small. I went there on "Taco Tuesday". They had limited $1 taco menu items. The tacos were prepared very quickly. Keep in mind that they are small. To give it a reference, I put away 9 of them with my favorite being the chorizo taco. Of course I had to get a margarita while I was there. They come in three sizes and I got a medium one. It was very thirst quenching. They come in many different flavors too. The servers there are very friendly and attentive. This is a decent restaurant located in Slidell's party district. They live up to their name Tacos and Beer. They have a wide assortment of tacos, in addition to many other Mexican food favorites. They have beer on Tap. I liked the restaurant's ambiance. It has a very chill vibe. Zero stars... That time we had chips, salsa , queso and guacamole at a place we normally likED/frequentED and realized midway through eating that a band-aide was disguised in the chips we had. Yes we still paid for our meal . This is a terrible break in hygiene...not to mention management didn't even come and apologize!?!. We didn't make a big deal about it but was seen / shown to our waitress , still management should have been more involved .... By far my favourite in Olde Towne! From a Sunday taco and app spot to a night time fiesta Inside seating is a relax cantina vibe. Outside is a great spot to be but watch the heat ! Food is top notch. Favorites are Tortilla Soup, Fish Taco and Barbacoa tacos. I always ask for lettuce wrapped so I can use my carbs on the chips and salsa and bean dip servers are pretty prompt every time we go but expect some delay on Taco Tuesday. We have eaten here a few times now. The service is decent as they can get really busy. The atmosphere is upbeat, fast paced and a little loud. We like the Lengua and the Birria tacos. If you aren't a fan of raw onions make sure to ask them to hold the onions. I am not a fan of their chips. They are too hard for my taste since I prefer a thinner crispy chip. Really awful food. The only good thing was the mango cocktail and the tortilla chips so they get one star for that. Unfortunately we ordered quite a few shrimp dishes and I think that the shrimp hadnt been swimming in a very long time. The shrimp cocktail was really just tomato sauce with lumps of stuff in it. No flavor. Ceviche was bland and resembled muddy water. Steak taco and shrimp tacos were inedible. I got a bitefull in my mouth and immediately stopped as there was something really really wrong with it. Even the rice is incredibly bland and overcooked.
