Good. Got. Y'all. RARELY do I give 5 stars. Joe greets us at the door on our maiden visit at the back side of lunch hour on a Wednesday. So inviting, welcoming, and humble. Seated, we are presented with warm rolls and our waitress Molly who has reminded us of the definition of exceptional service. From the wine suggestion, to our apps, entree and dessert, her recommendations were spot on (more on that to come). We wanted to sample as much as feasibly possible, so we started with stuffed mushrooms and calamari. The calamari was fine - just the right chew with a delicate fry coating. But the mushrooms... seriously. Five cremini caps with a perfect balance of crab filling topped with what appears to be a dual purpose spinach dip, in all the best ways. To enjoy both, go for the mushrooms. Entrees: my hubs order much spaghetti and meatballs, which was lovely. But. I ordered the Veal Romona, at the approval of Molly and proved to be absolutely delightful on So... Many.. Levels. Beautifully cooked fried veal cutlet I could cut with my butter knife, lovely tomato-cream sauce with a perfect spice, onion, pepper balance. Tears tickled the corners on my eyes as I just had to take it all in, even before I made my way into the angel hair. Since we drove over from AL and still have the trip back after our meal (and a couple of glasses Sauvignon Blanc) Inasked about dessert and coffee. Molly came through again... you definitely to do what I did and order the cheesecake with caramel-chocolate drizzle... make sure to order the "cheesecake - Molly-fied". This has been a long standing establishment in a previous location but only recently acquired the current space within the past couple of months, locally owned, and absolutely exceptional in every way in this day and age where eating out in this economy is hit-or-miss. You will NOT miss by choosing here... again, rarely does a place hit all five stars for me - atmosphere, hospital vibe as if being a welcomed guest in someone's home, locally owned, superb wait staff, and food quality. Great food and service! I took myself here on a solo date in the middle of the day early in the week, so it was pretty quiet which I very much enjoyed. I had the Linguine Del Mar, which comes with a small salad. And it was so yummy! It also looked amazing. I also asked for my water to be put in a wine glass and my waitress was happy to do it. Bread was brought to my table right before my food came out, which I appreciated. The portions are pretty big, so I took the rest of the meal home with me. I ordered a cannoli to go, and didn't expect it to have chocolate drizzled on it but it was a good combination. I'll definitely be returning to Joe's! read more

My family and I had a nice time here, but left dissatisfied. Based on the reviews and the previous location I was prepared to be blown away but I was not. Nothing specific, just a lot of little things that kept it from being great. The restaurant was busy, but we got a table with no wait. Our waitress was trying hard but fell short. Watching other servers at the tables around us, I think she was new. Not a huge deal - everybody is a beginner at some point - but it diminishes the overall. The food was good but not great. Perhaps a little pricey, but not extremely so. Some of the old favorite menu items I expected to see were not on the menu, mainly the pasta & sauce & cheese stuff. Baked ziti is a personal favorite, and the only way it was offered was in a combo with other things. No ravioli except the kind stuffed with seafood. The lasagna and spaghetti & meatballs seem tacked on the menu like an afterthought. I didn't see any menu items that I can't get anywhere else. Stiff competition in this category - there are some very good Italian restaurants in Slidell. That said, Joe's definitely has the potential to be a solid 4-stars. It's a new location, maybe it was a bad night, who knows? I will certainly go back and give them another shot, so I recommend them. Go try it and see for yourself. read more

Great Italian restaurant in Slidell. Located where McAllister's was, Joe's is a must try. There are a number of items on their menu to choose from, Crawfish Monica being a fan favorite. Each time I visited, a number of people at the table order it. I tried it on my second visit because everyone raved about it. On my first visit I had the combo that included: manicotti, ziti, and lasagna which was so rich and flavorful. The Crawfish Monica is a definite must try, and don't pass on the bread!!! The are a great place for large party, as the two time I have gone has been with a party of 10 or more, they were always so like and accommodating. When I return, I will see about trying something new, but I can't make any promises, oh and the portions are large enough to eat off of a few times. Until we meet again. read more

The food took me back to my childhood with a Sicilian grandmother. They had me at homemade rolls. The service was outstanding. Joe himself came around and personally saw how each table was doing, and introduced himself. The drinks were superb! My friend, who is also Sicilian, loved this place. We were pleasantly blown away as we were expecting an Italian Pie-esq, sort of dining experience. We had the artichoke dip for appetizer, lobster and shrimp ravioli and the combo dish as entrees. I had the sour apple martini and sangria to go along with my delicious dinner. Only regret is that I had no room for dessert. I would love to have said "leave the gu@ take the cannoli!" My stomach would not allow it. I plan on taking my 77 year old Sicilian father there within the next month, so I'll get it next time! Thank you so much for this very unexpected dining experience! Service was great. Parking was great. Much better than their other location. Food was not. Their rolls which are usually soft, hot and fluffy were dry. They must have been left over from lunch. We were there at 2:40. Chicken Picatta sauce was not that good. The sauce had flour in it and wasn't cooked enough to allow the flour to blend. Tiramisu was delicious. read more

This is related to delivery through a popular service. I know lazy but joes contracted with them so I expect accuracy. Their menu is incorrect and contradicts itself. The listing clearly stated vegetables come with the item. But none included. I call to inquire and no customer service whatsoever. I was treated like a nuisance. Basically the menu they created was misleading and wrong and I as the patron am at fault. Unacceptable. No resolution. They did not care. I had a large group (24) of retired teachers for lunch at Joe's new location. Yes, we miss the view but there is lots more parking and the food is still exceptional. We were all served promptly, efficiently, and in a friendly, warm manner. Servings were generous and delicious. Several people said that they would like to return. We'd eaten at Joe's previous location a few times over the years. We were anticipating good things from the recent move. Unfortunately we found ourselves a bit disappointed. The room was crowded with tables and fairly busy when the hostess seated us. We waited close to 15 minutes before returning to the hostess desk to ask who our server was because no one had come to the table. Soon our waiter arrived. He apologized for the delay and explained that he was new. From then on the service was great. The food however lacked. We order spaghetti with meatballs and spaghetti with sausage. The spaghetti and accompanying meat sauce was good, it was hot, seasoned nicely and tasted good. Unfortunately the meatballs tasted like the meat had been frozen and was watery with no seasoning. The sausage had nice grill marks, cut in half length wise. But, they were on the cold side of lukewarm creating a marked contrast when eating a fork full of hot spaghetti followed by nearly cold sausage. Adding to our disappointment is a pet peeve of mine ~ the silverware, specifically the fork. Here we are in a restaurant with linen tablecloths and forks that would bend in half with the slightest bit of pressure. It was like holding a pie tin. Spend a few buck on decent silverware ~ at least forks. Finally, during the second half of our meal the owner worked the room, moving from table-to-table inquiring how the food was and profusely thanking people for their support. He got close to our table twice but never made it. We were the only obvious minorities in the room. While we trust that had nothing to do with being the only table he didn't greet ~ we wonder. In conclusion, we wanted to like Joe's but we didn't. We hoped we'd found a new restaurant but we haven't. read more

The food was pretty good. The lobster and shrimp Romano could have had more ravioli and less sauce. The veal parm was also pretty good. The service is a tough one. Our original server was absent for most of the meal. My drink needed to be refilled for a while. However, the other server where we were seated helped out by actually doing our servers job. Our original server did show up when it was time for the check. We pushed our empty plates to the side and they sat there until the server that was picking up the slack again came to the rescue and removed them from the table. The ambiance is very pleasing. Very quaint and with a great view of the golf course. Very friendly, warm and inviting. We are definitely going to be back. read more

This dish was absolutely divine--perfectly cooked pasta tossed in a cream sauce loaded with tender crawfish tails. Every bite had the right balance goodness. The waitress was more concerned with the other servers and the "two" patrons at the bar. The waitress forgot to bring my salad and brought the meal out. Last night, my wife and I went to Slidell to take care of something. We normally eat at Southside Café when we go over to Slidell we wanted something different last night so we headed over to Joe's. It was average at Best. I had the chicken Romano it was really good. My wife had chicken Marcella. This is a dish she normally gets at Bosco's and she point-blank said this restaurant chicken Marcella is not even near as good as Bosco's. This restaurant says it uses the freshest and the best ingredients for their recipes. That is definitely not true because they use imported shrimp and it clearly states that on the menu, why would you use imported shrimp when we live in a community of nothing but fresh seafood. Plus, why not support the local shrimpers? Last, but not least before I left the restaurant I went into the male restroom. It's stunk like they have not cleaned it in quite some time. Excellent choice. The four of us visited Joe's Ristorante (Italian) today. It's located in Slidell. We truly enjoyed our meals. Their meals are reasonably priced. I had the lunch special chicken fettuccine alfredo. The chicken was seasoned well and enough alfredo sauce. (Very good.). The other members of my party had veal marsala, chicken marsala & chicken cremora mushroom. They all were very satisfied . Bread & salad comes with the lunch specials. Service was excellent. Located in Oak Harbor Slidell, Louisiana, Joe himself has brought his lovely Italian food to the table, from homemade pizza , fresh alfredo, and my favorite spaghetti and meatballs. Whether I go for lunch or dinner the meal is always good. The spaghetti sauce is amazing. I love the Italian seasonings; the meatballs are fresh, juicy and a pretty nice size. My mom loves the veal, and I can also say the chicken parmesan is pretty yummy. Both are lightly fried/seared, leaving them super moist. My father brags about their alfredo sauce-- which I must say, it super creamy, cheesy, and again great flavor. My little brother demolishes the pepperoni pizza. My little sister gets super excited about how cheesy the lasagna is and of course my son loves the salad. Hey, I'm happy with that, more for me. We once went right before a storm came and while we were ordering the rain came down even harder. Moments later the lights went out. They were still able to feed us. Been hearing about this place for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge. So glad I did! I'm giving 5 stars which is partially about the food and partially about the genius of the place. For starters the food was very very good. Well prepared and presented, the right temperature, and generously portioned (couldn't eat all mine). Did it have all the subtleties and nuances in flavor that you might find in some high-end, over-priced Italian restaurants? No. And yet it was delicious. And, just for the record, I wouldn't expect that level of subtlety - not because I have any doubts that they could pull it off - but because I think they have deliberately chosen to serve top quality meals, but without charging people a fortune. Which leads to the genius of this place. Their location - in the heart of Oak Harbor - means they have a somewhat captive audience. And I'm sure there were thoughts about making this a high end sort of place but they chose to go with high quality food at easy on the wallet prices, good views, ambiance and great staff. We had the Chicken Marsala and Chicken Parmesan - fantastic and so much more to try..... Update 6/24/19 - Brought family and out of town guests here and it was another home run experience. As usual, the bread was UH. MAZE. ING. Hot and plain, with butter, with magic dipping oil, with butter AND magic dipping oil, just eating the dipping oil concoction with a spoon - whatever. This is a tasty restaurant near the convention center and the Hampyon inn. I ate here twice. Once late at night after flying in and there was no food at the hotel. I got the chicken piccata. It had that tasty tartness from the capers and lemon. The convention center cafe was closed do we went here for lunch. They had a nice buffet with many of their entrees dishes. All the ones I tasted were delicious. Tasty and fast service.
