My family and I had a nice time here, but left dissatisfied. Based on the reviews and the previous location I was prepared to be blown away but I was not. Nothing specific, just a lot of little things that kept it from being great. The restaurant was busy, but we got a table with no wait. Our waitress was trying hard but fell short. Watching other servers at the tables around us, I think she was new. Not a huge deal - everybody is a beginner at some point - but it diminishes the overall. The food was good but not great. Perhaps a little pricey, but not extremely so. Some of the old favorite menu items I expected to see were not on the menu, mainly the pasta & sauce & cheese stuff. Baked ziti is a personal favorite, and the only way it was offered was in a combo with other things. No ravioli except the kind stuffed with seafood. The lasagna and spaghetti & meatballs seem tacked on the menu like an afterthought. I didn't see any menu items that I can't get anywhere else. Stiff competition in this category - there are some very good Italian restaurants in Slidell. That said, Joe's definitely has the potential to be a solid 4-stars. It's a new location, maybe it was a bad night, who knows? I will certainly go back and give them another shot, so I recommend them. Go try it and see for yourself. read more

I had a large group (24) of retired teachers for lunch at Joe's new location. Yes, we miss the view but there is lots more parking and the food is still exceptional. We were all served promptly, efficiently, and in a friendly, warm manner. Servings were generous and delicious. Several people said that they would like to return. My family has been a fan of Joe's for years and we will continue to enjoy them in their new home. read more

We'd eaten at Joe's previous location a few times over the years. We were anticipating good things from the recent move. Unfortunately we found ourselves a bit disappointed. The room was crowded with tables and fairly busy when the hostess seated us. We waited close to 15 minutes before returning to the hostess desk to ask who our server was because no one had come to the table. Soon our waiter arrived. He apologized for the delay and explained that he was new. From then on the service was great. The food however lacked. We order spaghetti with meatballs and spaghetti with sausage. The spaghetti and accompanying meat sauce was good, it was hot, seasoned nicely and tasted good. Unfortunately the meatballs tasted like the meat had been frozen and was watery with no seasoning. The sausage had nice grill marks, cut in half length wise. But, they were on the cold side of lukewarm creating a marked contrast when eating a fork full of hot spaghetti followed by nearly cold sausage. Adding to our disappointment is a pet peeve of mine ~ the silverware, specifically the fork. Here we are in a restaurant with linen tablecloths and forks that would bend in half with the slightest bit of pressure. It was like holding a pie tin. Spend a few buck on decent silverware ~ at least forks. Finally, during the second half of our meal the owner worked the room, moving from table-to-table inquiring how the food was and profusely thanking people for their support. He got close to our table twice but never made it. We were the only obvious minorities in the room. While we trust that had nothing to do with being the only table he didn't greet ~ we wonder. In conclusion, we wanted to like Joe's but we didn't. We hoped we'd found a new restaurant but we haven't. read more

VERY GOOD!!! we didn't stay in the restaurant. We just called in to go order. But when we came in to pick up the order, the place was cute and clean. When I tell you, the food tasted amazing! I got the feel piccata with Angel hair pasta and it was so so good. Highly recommend this place if you are in Slidell. read more

If you're a fan of rich, creamy, flavorful comfort food, do not sleep on the Crawfish Monica! This dish was absolutely divine--perfectly cooked pasta tossed in a cream sauce loaded with tender crawfish tails. Every bite had the right balance goodness. It's one of those dishes that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate how good it is. Hands down one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Last night, my wife and I went to Slidell to take care of something. We normally eat at Southside Café when we go over to Slidell we wanted something different last night so we headed over to Joe's. It was average at Best. I had the chicken Romano it was really good. My wife had chicken Marcella. This is a dish she normally gets at Bosco's and she point-blank said this restaurant chicken Marcella is not even near as good as Bosco's. This restaurant says it uses the freshest and the best ingredients for their recipes. That is definitely not true because they use imported shrimp and it clearly states that on the menu, why would you use imported shrimp when we live in a community of nothing but fresh seafood. Plus, why not support the local shrimpers? Last, but not least before I left the restaurant I went into the male restroom. It's stunk like they have not cleaned it in quite some time. I know they're moving, but they still need to clean their restrooms. read more

The food was pretty good. The lobster and shrimp Romano could have had more ravioli and less sauce. The veal parm was also pretty good. The service is a tough one. Our original server was absent for most of the meal. My drink needed to be refilled for a while. However, the other server where we were seated helped out by actually doing our servers job. Our original server did show up when it was time for the check. We pushed our empty plates to the side and they sat there until the server that was picking up the slack again came to the rescue and removed them from the table. The ambiance is very pleasing. Very quaint and with a great view of the golf course. Very friendly, warm and inviting. We are definitely going to be back. read more

The food has always been amazing. The choices are good and the prices have always been fair, however. We went there on 08.20.24 and had dinner. The service was not its normal. The waitress was more concerned with the other servers and the "two" patrons at the bar. The waitress forgot to bring my salad and brought the meal out. This was by far some of the poorest service we have had. It will not stop us from going to Joe's unless it continues. read more

Excellent choice. The four of us visited Joe's Ristorante (Italian) today. It's located in Slidell. We truly enjoyed our meals. Their meals are reasonably priced. I had the lunch special chicken fettuccine alfredo. The chicken was seasoned well and enough alfredo sauce. (Very good.). The other members of my party had veal marsala, chicken marsala & chicken cremora mushroom. They all were very satisfied . Bread & salad comes with the lunch specials. Service was excellent. The food is amazing!!! Great authentic Italian cuisine, always fresh. The rolls with the dipping sauce is a must have! The spinach and artichoke dip is delicious...you can actually order that with some pasta and have a grand meal...ohhh yea it has shrimp in it too The restaurant was clean, nice and cozy, servers wore mask the restroom is also clean. Joe's I love a family ‍‍‍ owned establishment. At Joe's Italian Ristorante, I always feel at home when dining here. They are very pleasing, food is always comforting, and you always feel welcomed. Located in Oak Harbor Slidell, Louisiana, Joe himself has brought his lovely Italian food to the table, from homemade pizza , fresh alfredo, and my favorite spaghetti and meatballs. Whether I go for lunch or dinner the meal is always good. The spaghetti sauce is amazing. I love the Italian seasonings; the meatballs are fresh, juicy and a pretty nice size. My mom loves the veal, and I can also say the chicken parmesan is pretty yummy. Both are lightly fried/seared, leaving them super moist. My father brags about their alfredo sauce-- which I must say, it super creamy, cheesy, and again great flavor. My little brother demolishes the pepperoni pizza. My little sister gets super excited about how cheesy the lasagna is and of course my son loves the salad. Hey, I'm happy with that, more for me. We once went right before a storm came and while we were ordering the rain came down even harder. Moments later the lights went out. They were still able to feed us. The staff is always super friendly, very accommodating, boss man always speaks and remembers his guests. It's quite an awesome spot! read more

Been hearing about this place for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge. So glad I did! I'm giving 5 stars which is partially about the food and partially about the genius of the place. For starters the food was very very good. Well prepared and presented, the right temperature, and generously portioned (couldn't eat all mine). Did it have all the subtleties and nuances in flavor that you might find in some high-end, over-priced Italian restaurants? No. And yet it was delicious. And, just for the record, I wouldn't expect that level of subtlety - not because I have any doubts that they could pull it off - but because I think they have deliberately chosen to serve top quality meals, but without charging people a fortune. Which leads to the genius of this place. Their location - in the heart of Oak Harbor - means they have a somewhat captive audience. And I'm sure there were thoughts about making this a high end sort of place but they chose to go with high quality food at easy on the wallet prices, good views, ambiance and great staff. We had the Chicken Marsala and Chicken Parmesan - fantastic and so much more to try..... Update 6/24/19 - Brought family and out of town guests here and it was another home run experience. As usual, the bread was UH. MAZE. ING. Hot and plain, with butter, with magic dipping oil, with butter AND magic dipping oil, just eating the dipping oil concoction with a spoon - whatever. It's all good. Crawfish Monica had to be eaten again. Yes. Just yes. Wow. Others had the Chicken Marsala and special with pasta and scallops. Everyone loved it. Joe's never disappoints. This is a tasty restaurant near the convention center and the Hampyon inn. I ate here twice. Once late at night after flying in and there was no food at the hotel. I got the chicken piccata. It had that tasty tartness from the capers and lemon. The convention center cafe was closed do we went here for lunch. They had a nice buffet with many of their entrees dishes. All the ones I tasted were delicious. Tasty and fast service. I so wish the last time I was at the conference center I would have just crossed the street at ate here instead of waiting in the long line at convention center cafe read more

Joe's is a little restaurant tucked away on the front nine of Oak Harbor Blvd. I passed this place for two years before I ever went in. Big mistake. Joe's is an old world Italian restaurant. The kind you'd expect in Little Italy. Italian opera music is piped in the background, at just the right volume level. Every table has a cloth table cover with the finest silverware. Likewise, everyone is greeted with freshly baked bread, piping hot from the oven, that is simply irresistibly. And, don't let the dress code scare you, this is the Northshore, and most casual outfits are fine. My favorite dish is the Eggplant Parmesean. Only real, all natural ingredients go into this creation. I been back several times and this dish never disappoints. Fresh Eggplant, thinly sliced and lightly fried, then covered with the finest mozzarella cheeses, then baked for a lightly toasted topping. Large garlic chunks, and fresh tomatoes go into their delectable marinara sauce that is to die for. With just the perfect balance of sweetness only a connoisseur could appreciate. I have tried the Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. All are very good. For an appetizer, we had Joe's Artichoke Shrimp Dip. If you love rich creamy sauces this is a "must." Joe's is a 4 star restaurant with 3 Star pricing. Most of their signature dishes cost a little over $10/dinner. Quite average. Not bad considering a value meal from McD's cost $8. Anyone who would rate this restaurant as a one, simply has an agenda. Go try it and be your own judge. read more

I decided to try this place again after being disappointed years ago. I thought maybe they worked out a few of their kinks since then and I have to say that my fiance and I were highly disappointed with our meals. We ordered the chicken Parmesan and veal Parmesan. Our food came out and to our surprise we didn't even get a real slice of chicken or veal. It was the processed chicken/veal patty from Tyson you find in the frozen section at the grocery store that you slap on a sandwhich. To charge 15 dollars for this is outrageous. You should be serving fresh chicken breast and real veal. The quality of the food here is horrible. The only thing we enjoyed was the bread that they served. Our service was great though. Please reconsider serving real food! Your customers deserve better! read more
