New Year Eve and we stopped by for a quick bite. The ambiance was very nice! Very classy/elegant. It's set up more like a bar than an actual restaurant, so I wouldn't recommend for a family outing with kids. It's more of an adult hangout. . Ordered the avocado wrap - no tomato, sub feta cheese. w/tortilla soup. It was good. Also had beans dip... it was HOT, but tasty. . My only complaint, I guess would be a priority is the "service". They wasn't tentative to empty glasses to be refilled with water. Then my hubby was eating and the waitress stopped and asked, are you finished with the plate? I was looking like WTH - don't you see him still biting his food. O said honey, you're still eating... He just said, sure... I was almost done anyways (oh, he had 2 enchiladas-he wasn't impressed)... she took the plate! Lady! What are you doing?? What waitress school you went to! Sheesh. :-( Few mins later she came back with the check. No, do you want anything else, nothing. Just ticket as in - pay and leave. They wasn't even busy! . Ok, to sum up... The interior / ambiance was adorable and my vibe, but they need more etiquette skills on customer service. Oh and they were proud to prop up a magazine in the front flowers for everyone to see as they walk in. Gotta work on that CUSTOMERS SERVICE!!! All seems to be agitated they were at work. . Naaaah - most likely won't make it my stop in as I'm traveling through again all because of the service. There must be no such thing anymore. My employees KNOW that's a pet peeve of mine. I usually get to-go orders but what I will say is that no matter what you get on the menu it will be amazing. Everything is fresh and you can tell they care about their craft. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is nice too! Always very clean and plenty of space for large parties. read more

I'm giving Habaneros 4 stars on this review. Let me tell you why the food is good the drinks are even better. The ambience and the staff is comfortable and professional. It could have gotten 5 stars only if they had multiple TV's. Only one mid size tv at the bar that you cannot see at your tables. When one think of tacos we secondly think of drinks accompanied by entertainment of some sort. This establishment would gain a lot of income with multiple TV's and a larger bar. Other then that like mentioned before the food is really good and the drinks are mixed well. read more

1/5 is very fair! The attentiveness of the waitstaff is poor. The salsa was glass jar store brought at best. The lettuce tacos were too overloaded and VERY SLOPPY!!! The only thing that made me give a rating as such is the fact that the decor made me feel artsy and creative. read more

I love this restaurant. The ambience is uplifting and hip. The staff members are so welcoming but the food is so, so. The atmosphere pops and I expected the food to pop as well. It was just ok. Oh, man. Customer beware! Please read. Don't get me wrong. The food I ordered was amazing and tasted great. I wish I would have taken a picture. Ever since the economy and costs have gone up. They have not updated the menu prices. What is listed is NOT the price you will be paying. This is actually illegal. I asked the waitress we had, who was an angel I can't remember her name, if there was an error to the pricing as the food we ordered was at least 2$ more expensive than listed price. We looked at my receipt and the menu together and she got it corrected for me. Just caution please for the people reading this. I wish that portions were bigger as well. The "shareables" are not shareable at all. You pay $17 for 3 birria tacos and ju. That's it! Come on. Inside of the place looked well and the strip they are located on looked tidy. Went in for dinner and ordered our drinks and food a while after. We received our food before our margaritas. The Tacos didn't even have whole shrimp on them and the lettuce with sour cream is considered one of your 2 sides it doesn't come with the tacos. The shrimp were chopped up and burnt. I also ended up sending my drink back because it was nothing but mix and ice. I was disappointed with the food and slow service. Cute new spot in Slidell. The ambiance alone makes you want to be here!! The bar is welcoming and the bartenders are very attentive. Our server was great in offering suggestions and explaining the.menu to first timers.. There is an upstairs part that's very inviting and cute outside seating as well. The food was delicious, definitely a different flavor for an area swamped with this type of cuisine. We went during "Social Hour" and had the margaritas. All of the flavors we tried were really tasty but the Guava was my fave!! We wanted to try something a little different and went for their signature tacos, one of the many recommendations from our server. The steak on the Prestige was very tender and seasoned really well and just enough. Paired with the shrimp and avocado, I can see why this was highly recommended. But let me tell you about the Borrego. OMG!!! That lamb was cooked perfectly and the amount of flavor was unexpected honestly. The tacos came with this green sauce on the side (don't remember the name) but it was spicy and complimented the lamb nicely. Both orders came with two sides. We got the street corn and the tortilla soup, both delicious. The street corn had a spicy mayo that was a nice touch of spice. The tortilla soup was really good, came out hot with just enough of a kick to it. I'm putting this one on my list of favorites and will DEFINITELY be back. read more

I've been really wanting to try this place and finally got a chance to go for lunch. We were seated on the second floor which was kind of fun. This place has a great vibe to it. Cocktails were AMAZING! We shared an appetizer that was really good and then we each got two tacos; shredded beef and carne asada. The meat tasted really good. My only complaint is that we requested the hard shell tacos and what we got was like those pre-made shells you buy in the grocery store, and they were really skimpy on the meat. I think next time I'll try the soft shell and see if those are better. I'd go back just for the drinks! Oh, and the bean dig you get with chips is really good. I went here with my family for cinco de mayo. Immediately our waitress said that she had been fired months prior but rehired for tonight. One member of our party order something without sour cream, they put sour cream on it. I ordered 3 steak tacos and my stepdad ordered 2 I got 4 and he got 1. I ordered tomatoes, lettuce, and cilantro only and I got 1 stale tortilla with a couple pieces of steak and a single piece of shredded lettuce,one that was my stepdads, one that was the correct order, and one that had onions and and an unidentifiable red strip. My sister went to the bathroom and said the toilet was full of toilet paper and was clogged. I've been here once before, around the time it opened and had a great experience. This however was a much different experience. This is time and money I will never get back. read more

This was our first time here and we came for girls night. If you've ever been to Rock n Sake in New Orleans then this place will remind you of the vibes there. Habaneros is hands down my fave place in Slidell! You can find me here 2-4 times a week! The managers and staff are so attentive and quick to service you. The food always comes out fast and delicious. The ambiance is exciting, beautiful and welcoming. So listen. This place is probably the most aesthetically pleasing place in Slidell but tonight for Cinco De Mayo was horrible. The hostesses were rude. The bar staff wasn't helpful. We were standing by the bar for like 10 minutes before one of the wait staff came over and told us there was a line on the other side of the bar to order drinks. Then the drinks were $17 and not even full! I asked the man if that's what the drink should look like and he blew me off talking about the the serving. A damn near half full drink. I was livid. There was one major redeeming quality and that was our waitress. Her name was Curly/Carly and she was great! I just tried the "Borrego" (Lamb Tacos) and Frejoles Negro (Black Refried Beans) and it was very good. I ordered a Mojito just to see if the bartender was legit and she was. Great taste and it brought me back a little. Music was a tad bit loud but my waitress "Brenda" was good, attentive and polite. They were almost closing and still let me dine in. Not impressed. Very expensive for the street tacos that I had; street tacos are usually small, but filling. These were smaller than I have seen before, and not very full. I had the Pastor tacos with a side of refried beans and guacamole salad. The beans and the guacamole salad came in bowls that were tiny- like less than 1/4 cup. Overall, the taco meat was dry, the cilantro on the tacos still had stems on it, the beans were watery. If you're charging $14.95 for 3 tacos and two sides, the food should be amazing. A family member told us that they loved this place and when I was trying to look for their menu I came across these reviews and was a bit confused by what I read here because I usually agree with their tastes in restaurants. I will just say, give Habaneros a try for yourself. I had the La Chingona margarita and it was really tasty. The Covington Guac; with the chipotle bacon, is crazy good and a bit spicy. My Husband got a dish from the brunch menu and it was delicious. The Owner and wait staff are friendly, attentive and are very happy to guide you in your selections.
