Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this place has great food! The quality of the food was great for the price. We enjoyed the seafood Yakimen and the steak sandwich. The food hasn't changed thank goodness because the seafood bread is amazing, and the yakamein stays delicious, just like you expect from a spot with real NOLA roots. There's been a shift in staff, and while they're still friendly, they could use a little more training and attention to detail. Nothing wild, just tightening up. Nice staff and good food. Tucked away in a shopping plaza off of Gause in Slidell across the train tracks. My family and I have eaten here twice now. This time we got the tour, the grilled seafood platter and some oysters. The tour came with catfish, gumbo and potato salad. The grilled platter came with shrimp, catfish, gumbo, cut up ear of corn (cut up in four pieces), and potato salad. Overall a nice place for getting creole favorites. They also have a variety of sandwiches. Next time I go I am going to try their bread pudding. read more

What a cute spot! We stopped in on a cold Saturday afternoon and they were busy! We scanned the dining area looking at what people were ordering and it all looked so delicious. We started out with an order of seafood croquettes. They were good, but not our favorite. We also had an order of brussels sprouts and they were perfect. My husband ordered their shepherds pie. It was a massive portion. The whipped potatoes on top had just enough flavor to complement the beef and veggies. My daughter ordered the seafood, stuffed potato, and boy was it stuffed! Rich creamy sauce with lots of shrimp and crawfish. The yakamein was calling my name! It was perfect for a cold windy day. I had a little bit of a kick and just enough noodles and seafood to make me happy. The portions are very generous, so be prepared to ask for a to go box. This place is fantastic! First of all, the service is amazing. The hostess/server was so sweet and very knowledgeable on the menu. The ambiance is very casual, clean and decorated very cute. But let's talk about the food. I had the seafood baked potato and it was nothing short of awesome. The filling is super creamy and there was lots of seafood. It was huge and there was no way I could finish it all. Husband had the ribs and sweet potato tots. Very, very good. Price was reasonable and they do have a small bar. We were greeted as we walked in and told to sit anywhere we'd like. A small establishment, we chose a seat. Mama knew she would get the seafood yakamein and I'd decided on the seafood baked potato. We added the sweet potato tatter tots and carrot soufflé. The yakamein packed a punch with the bold flavor and spices, the baked potato was stuffed creamy and delicious and the tatter tots are an added treat we truly enjoyed. Only thing we didn't care for was the carrot soufflé which they may just have had an off batch adding too much spice. Other than that this rest is a must try if you are in the area.
