Times Grill is one of our Go-To places, and is one of the restaurants I steer out-of-town visitors to. It is comfortable and quiet. We rarely have to wait for a table, even when they are busy. They have a lot of TVs going all the time. This is an excellent place to watch an LSU or Saints game. The restaurant is located in the Slidell train station, and occasionally a train rumbles through while you're eating which is different and kind of fun. Things happen, but the service is usually good and the management seems genuinely concerned that everyone has a good Customer Experience. The menu has a wide range of things, something for everyone, but the burgers are what we usually get. They have some creative combo burgers but the regular cheeseburger is just as nice. The hot sandwiches and po-boys are good. Every one comes with fries as a side, but they also offer a choice of coleslaw or potato salad. Both are excellent and a nice alternative to fries. The fried mushrooms are better than most. The side salads are fresh and cold and almost big enough to call an entree. They have a good selection of draft beers at reasonable prices. We are new to the Slidell area and decided to try different restaurants around town. Finally made it to Times Grill and we were pleasantly surprised. First of all, the drinks were fantastic. We tried their version of an Old Fashion and it was sooooo good. We each had a burger and it was perfection! I had the blue cheese burger and it was the best I've had in a long time. My only negative would be that they were a little cheap on the fries. The service was excellent. We told our waiter it was our first time and he must have shared that with the manager who promptly came over to greet us and handed us a $5 gift card for our next visit. We loved this place so much we brought family back over the very next night. We will definitely be visiting again....soon! read more

I have been going for many years, but recently it has really gone downhill. I stopped in to grab a to go salad with grilled chicken. The same salad I've had many times. When I pick it up, I'm handed a small container with grilled chicken inside of it. I open it to find literally five small nuggets of chicken for an entire salad. And for a total price of $17, that was absolutely insulting. The young woman behind the counter did her best, but really offered no solution. I questioned it suggesting a small chicken breast made more sense for a salad like this. So she asked if I wanted that I said yes assuming it was to replace this embarrassing display in front of me. But to my dismay, when she returned with a very small container with a small breast of chicken. She handed me another bill for almost $8. I was shocked to say the least. I asked to speak to a manager, but of course, there was none on site in advised to contact the restaurant the following day. An issue this should be addressed immediately and not the next day. I understand food costs have risen and going out, has changed in the last two years but for that amount of food and for that price was embarrassing and unacceptable. It has definitely got 10 out of hand and has become ridiculous. This is the type of product the restaurant plans to present then I cannot see myself returning anytime soon. read more

Excellent!! Everything here is amazing! I ordered the grilled chicken with potato salad & broccoli. The chicken is marinated for 24 hours & is juicy and flavorful. Just fyi you can order the catfish blackened and served with the Tchefuncta sauce over rice. Highly recommended this dish as it is outstanding. I think this is why I've only been to this restaurant three times in 18 years. I would suggest trying out the bacon bacon burger at cheesecake factory. Maybe even Port of call on Esplanade in New Orleans. The flavor well let's just say there is no flavor to your burger. The portion size of just the lettuce is embarrassing. Another disappointing visit. Showed up and the employee doing the seating acted like we were an annoyance to here. Was tossing the dryberase marker around when marking seating location. Then when got to the take she just tossed the menus and utensils on the table and as walking away body language showed she was totally annoyed we had come in to the business. Times Grill has a huge problem. It's a sign out front that states "World's Greatest Hamburger". This statement may be true if the world was a quarter the size of Slidell ,LA. This is definitely a great spot for local cuisine. They have great signature burgers ( they won best burgers on the north shore) . The burgers are really good and their custom burgers 'like the "Forget about it " burger which has fried mozzarella stick ,parmesan cheese and marinara sauce is really good. First time to eat here and was not disappointed. Always looking for that perfect hamburger and this one came close. I just got the regular 1/2 # Times burger and added cheddar. They cooked it a perfectly med- rare and added all the fixings. It came with fries which were very good. Onion rings and doo-dads were ordered for the table as well and I really loved both of them!! Not too thrilled with this place. The burgers really are not as good as they are cracked up to be, and the service IS struggling. I know it's a small place but for having one waitress taking orders and giving out food seems to cause a feeling of being tolerated and not appreciated as customers. When you drive by a place with a glowing red sign that reads " world famous burgers" you typically shrug it off and chalk it up to one of the thousands of burger joints scattered throughout the US that boast the same thing. We were staying in Slidell outside of New Orleans and happened to drive by Times Grill with their blaring red, eye catching sign. My husband is a burger fiend. While the rest of us dined on crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice and gumbo, he sticks to hamburgers. He begged to try Times as his encounters with burgers around the New Orleans area has not been successful. When you step inside Times, the ambiance immediately impresses. The inside is like an old train station, the walls covered in rich red brick and sports memorabilia. We were immediately greeted and seated and our drinks were delivered within minutes. We all ordered burgers and some appetizers of fried mushrooms and pickles. The apps came out quick and hot and were plentiful and delicious. My 14 year old daughter ordered the Warrior burger - 2 1/2 pound patties covered in melting cheddar cheese, bacon, cheese fries and warrior sauce. It was a mountain of a burger and in true warrior style, she demolished it! My husband had the BBLTPC burger - Burger Bacon Lettuce Tomato Pickle and Cheese and always orders his cookies medium well. This can typically be a problem as it is cooked too much and becomes dry and hard or not enough and his delicate tummy is offended by traces of pink. Not here. Times cooked his burger perfectly - no pink and juicy and delicious. I have the Forgetaboutit burger - 6oz patty topped with mozzarella sticks and marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese. My 14 year old actually wanted it and couldn't decided between the warrior burger or it so I got it thinking we could share it. It was great. Our server was wonderful and friendly and we even had desert - thick creamy milkshakes and a ooey-gooey cookies covered in chocolate and ice cream. You have to stop by this place if you're in the area. Take a break from the jazzy New Orleans food and dive into a burger done right. Ate dinner here after seeing it in the mail advert claiming "best burger". Our family of 5 was seated immediately. Tuesday special is build your own burger in which you get 3 toppings free. I added cheese and doo dads which are hot sauce marinated shoe string onion rings. Next time I am getting a plate of doodads. The server Stormy recommended the potato salad and it was fantastic- fresh, mustardy, and skin on red potatoes. Perfectly seasoned. first they got my milkshake order wrong, they gave me a strawberry after I said vanilla, and it took like 45 min for them to make it. There wasn't even that many customers in there, and there was a ton of staff running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Then they brought me a Caesar salad and the dressing tasted old. And the whole time I was there the waitress never refilled my drink. Then they brought out a burger that looked incredibly sloppy and tiny. What a great place. Located in the old train station, this is a sports bar (something I'm usually indifferent to) with one of the most amazing staffs I've seen. After a horrible day in Slidell (See review of Que Rico review for details) we were waiting for the train to arrive and since I didn't have lunch, we decided to have a quick snack and a calming beer before we left town. First of all, our waitress was fantastic. She was an English transplant and had one of the most attentive table-side manner I've ever seen. I decided to see how the other waitress was handling her tables and she was fantastic as well. Someone put together a really good team here. As we sat with our order of fries (very crispy and nicely spiced), a NY style cheese cake (wow was that rich!) and beer, we looked around and noticed just how nicely appointed the room was. Decorated but not too busy. Clean enough and everyone seemed to be happy. Good sign. As I left, I asked one of the kitchen people to pass on my respects to the manager for the incredibly good wait-staff they had and then left to wait for the train. About 10 minutes later, and just about a half hour before the train was to arrive, I came in and asked if I could get a water. The manager saw me and thanked me for the comment and I told him what a crap-day we had and how the experience really made us feel better. Then I left and I thought that was it. 15 minutes later, he comes running out and offers to help us buy and print out tickets just in case. So he took me back in the office and got to work on getting us the seats to guarantee the train would stop. Due to the oddball way Amtrak's website is, it came down to seconds before the train was to leave before the tickets printed out. It was so close that the Girly ran into the door and SCREECHED, "IT'S LEAVING!!!" so loud it scared everyone in the office and all the burly guys in the kitchen nearly jumped out of their skin. No joke. Never underestimate the power of the screech. He even walked us to the train just to make sure.
