The Big Easy Diner is one of the more pleasant diners I have visited, offering a nostalgic 50s and 60s atmosphere. The food has consistently been excellent; my daughters treated me here for Father's Day, and we were all very satisfied. We started with the large onion rings, which were substantial enough to nearly fill us up. For our entrees, I had the BLT, my youngest daughter ordered a hamburger, and my eldest chose the cheesy fries. Everything was well-prepared, and the milkshakes and iced tea were both top-tier. While service can occasionally be slow during peak hours due to staffing challenges, the staff on duty are always friendly and accommodating. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable. This was not our first visit to the Big Easy, and it certainly won't be our last. If you are looking for fast food, the major chains are located just down the street, and if you are seeking fine dining, this is not that either. We were in Slidell for a week and we ended up skipping our continental breakfast at our hotel to eat breakfast here. And a few dinners, everything we've gotten was awesome, breakfast, especially the fluffy pancakes that tastes like they were made with cream. The prices are very reasonable. Just dropped in here and had an excellent country diner breakfast experience. Love this place. We were seated and were able to place our order quickly. It was nice to enjoy a simple and well prepared breakfast with sunny side up eggs, corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy. My experiences here have been hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but in general I enjoy it so I keep going back. One thing going for them is they are open 24 hours so if you want to eat super late (or super early) they are the only place open besides Waffle House. One of our favorite things to do is to go here for late-night pie. Yes, pie. They have real pies on the menu in a number of flavors. Tons of fun. The menu is large and should have something to satisfy anybody. They have a nice variety of daily blue-plate specials that are usually pretty good. It gets crowded on weekend mornings when everybody seems to be out for breakfast, but at other times/days I have never had to wait for a table. The servers are always friendly. Loved this place! Enjoyed a deluxe crab cake breakfast served with eggs, grits, and pan bread (Texas toast made from sourdough bread.) Husband had thick, big waffles and bacon. The Big Easy Diner is exactly what the name implies. New Orleans, famous for hundreds of years for their food and warm hospitality, has its own food culture, recognized and appreciated worldwide. This is a cool diner with an old school vibe and it also is a fantastic option for as they also stay open late. I sampled their cheeseburger and really enjoyed that experience here. They have lots of neon lights that really help give this spot a great ambiance along with offering a good variety of daily specials to keep things interesting. I've gone several times to give them the benefit of the doubt but after tonight I'm not going back. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but sitting there watching waitresses walk passed you rolling their eyes and just sitting with no menu was the last straw. It shouldn't take 10-20 to greet every table. Being a server is having more than one table at a time. It's like she wasn't gonna come over until her table was gone. I was sitting right next to her table she already had and not one word. I am normally big on diner food so I was excited to stop in and try Big Easy after being told it was quite good. I will preface it by saying they were very busy when we came, but we spent forever waiting to get seated and even longer to get service once we were. Seemed like as we got seated was when the staff got a break from being busy so we were an after thought. The food was good, or this rating would be lower. We stop here as often as we can. We live an hour away and it never disappoints! We are convinced that they make the absolute best pancakes in the world! They don't even need syrup! My husband loves their Philly cheesesteak. We usually order a bunch of diner staples and just share everything since it's too hard to decide. The club sandwich with fries always hits the spot. Eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. Can we talk about the pancakes? Just downright deliciousness. This batter is homemade and tastes of vanilla, buttermilk and we can't get enough of them. Been in Slidell a couple of days now, went to Big Easy on a local recommendation and now I've been twice. This place is great!! Day one to day two different meats same great taste and service!! Service here is great. Definitely a homey environment. Our waitress really hustled and worked too hard. She had a lot of tables (and it seemed like no help from others). Stopped in on our long journey home to Boston. I was very happy with the level of service at this diner. The waitress was so nice and friendly and i never had an empty water glass! I had a delicious bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns. First time i have ever seen bacon on the top of an omelette but thankfully there was a lot inside as well!
