The Big Easy Diner is one of the more pleasant diners I have visited, offering a nostalgic 50s and 60s atmosphere. The food has consistently been excellent; my daughters treated me here for Father's Day, and we were all very satisfied. We started with the large onion rings, which were substantial enough to nearly fill us up. For our entrees, I had the BLT, my youngest daughter ordered a hamburger, and my eldest chose the cheesy fries. Everything was well-prepared, and the milkshakes and iced tea were both top-tier. While service can occasionally be slow during peak hours due to staffing challenges, the staff on duty are always friendly and accommodating. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable. This was not our first visit to the Big Easy, and it certainly won't be our last. If you are looking for fast food, the major chains are located just down the street, and if you are seeking fine dining, this is not that either. I only have great things to say about EVERYTHING here. First, Ashley was the sweetest, friendliest, and most personable doll ever!! She wasn't our server but still checked on us which we totally appreciated. If I lived out here I'd try to snatch her for my own business!! Michelle was equally as pleasant! Checked on us just enough, made sure our food was exactly what we needed. The food was DELICIOUS. The shrimp on the Shrimp salad was cooked perfectly. The batter was not heavy but rather light and crisp enough. The Cobb salad was the perfect size and every ingredient was fresh and delicious. The ranch dressing - PERFECT! We typically share a meal but after eating tons of fried food we needed some fresh greens and Big Easy did not disappoint. We were pleased to see how well kept the exterior and interior were. We were in Slidell for a week and we ended up skipping our continental breakfast at our hotel to eat breakfast here. And a few dinners, everything we've gotten was awesome, breakfast, especially the fluffy pancakes that tastes like they were made with cream. The prices are very reasonable. My experiences here have been hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but in general I enjoy it so I keep going back. One thing going for them is they are open 24 hours so if you want to eat super late (or super early) they are the only place open besides Waffle House. One of our favorite things to do is to go here for late-night pie. Yes, pie. They have real pies on the menu in a number of flavors. Tons of fun. The menu is large and should have something to satisfy anybody. They have a nice variety of daily blue-plate specials that are usually pretty good. It gets crowded on weekend mornings when everybody seems to be out for breakfast, but at other times/days I have never had to wait for a table. The servers are always friendly. This is a cool diner with an old school vibe and it also is a fantastic option for as they also stay open late. I sampled their cheeseburger and really enjoyed that experience here. They have lots of neon lights that really help give this spot a great ambiance along with offering a good variety of daily specials to keep things interesting. I've gone several times to give them the benefit of the doubt but after tonight I'm not going back. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but sitting there watching waitresses walk passed you rolling their eyes and just sitting with no menu was the last straw. It shouldn't take 10-20 to greet every table. Being a server is having more than one table at a time. It's like she wasn't gonna come over until her table was gone. I will preface it by saying they were very busy when we came, but we spent forever waiting to get seated and even longer to get service once we were. My husband loves their Philly cheesesteak. We usually order a bunch of diner staples and just share everything since it's too hard to decide. The club sandwich with fries always hits the spot.
