It arrived and when I poured my grits from the container to mix with my eggs I found two fat dead flies. The flies I can almost understand as flies enter the restaurant when the doors open. However, the rudeness of the cook and young white boy wearing a gold chain are a problem. Neither apologized and the later asked why I didn't want the rest of the food. He even asked to see the flies. The cook insisted the flies could not have come from the food even though as he spoke flies were flying around restaurant right through the window he was speaking from. I have eaten at this restaurant for years until today. I will never return. read more

There's a reason I love breakfast food so much. I'm a pretty good cook but I've never been good at cooking my favorite breakfast meals. I can't do eggs over easy to save my life. I love them, but can't make them. Same goes for a great omelette. The Big Easy Diner has great breakfast dishes and I love it here. It's nice, home style cooking and the service is great. They serve lots of other dishes but all I ever order here are eggs over easy or an omelette. They come with two sides...I usually get hash browns and bacon. Me and my mom went about 3pm around that time, and the service was great. The place seems quiet but it is a nice theme, really clean, and actually pretty. My boys bugged about going here. We went as a family for one son's birthday. Then my husband and same son went for dinner after a long road trip. The first experience was okay. I am gluten free and the options are quite limited. That's par for the course at many places here in the deep south. Cobb salad for me. Chicken fried steak for most of my guys. Some kind of Mexican burger for the birthday boy. Second time my guys felt like it was overpriced for what you got. My colleague ordered breakfast for myself and others...upon opening the grits container, there were flies ( plural) in the grits. I used to eat at this establishment all the time, but after that unfortunate experience, I will never return. There seems to be an issue with unsafe and unsanitary food conditions. The establishment was rude and unhelpful. They became defensive instead of rectifying the problem. I guess maybe they thought we flavored our own grits with flies. I like the Big Easy Diner. They have about anything you would want. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, plate dinners, shakes, etc. I usually go for breakfast, but went for lunch a few days ago and had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, salad and bread. It was good. The chicken fried steak is pretty big so you sure don't leave still hungry. You can also count on your drink never being empty as the servers check on you regularly. Great service. One thing I noticed is they used to have a breakfast platter that came with pancakes. They changed the menu so now if you want pancakes with your eggs, hashbrowns, bacon or whatever the plate was, you're going to pay a few more bucks which makes for a costly breakfast. read more

So go into Big Easy for table for a table for 4. They were some what busy. We patiently waited for about 10 minutes then was recognized and the server said be right with you. Another 10 minutes passes so I asked why we weren't being seated. Sever said management would not allow any to be seated until ALL tables are cleared. So to the management, when people are waiting to be seated and you have clean 4 tips, seat them so you don't lose $50 in business and your server loses tips. That policy makes no sense. read more

Apparently there is a young one that has taken over the restaurant. This is supposed to be a 50's-60's diner theme. It may look it but when you walk in the door you stand waiting for the booths and tables to get pushed to the side and line dancing start. Us old hippies are not pleased. My family and I were visiting at a nearby hotel and wanted to experience some classic Louisiana cusine for breakfast. We took a chance at a restaurant listed on the phone and headed for The Big Easy. The parking lot was packed, but we were hungry and curious why it was so busy. Once inside we thought about turning around but the host advised that a table would be available for our large party soon. He was diligent in making that happen and soon we found ourselves firmly seated among a crowd of others. We were in the mood for the crowd. The food was off the charts! I can't even remember what I ordered for myself as I was tasting everybody's meal. Simple eggs and grits were perfection! There's a pan cooked bread that you have to try. I'm a perfectionist about fried chicken and I wish I could have boxed this up and brought it back with me to Georgia. Just good food with very pleasant employees. read more

The food is pretty good here. My children ordered the grilled cheese & they both loved it! My husband ordered the open faced roast beef. He liked it too. I tried it; it was really good but it did need some salt. I got the blue plate special, which was a "stuffed" burger with a pepper jack cheese and an onion ring on top, served with French fries. It was grilled to perfection! Pretty tasty, too. It was also a good sized burger. Overall, the food was great! The service was a little left to be desired though. The staff was very friendly; however, there was only one waitress. There were a couple of ladies walking around talking to customers and bussing tables. Some customers were upset about the wait to order food & when they asked one of those ladies to take their order, the ladies told them they were not allowed to take orders. Thefood was barely warm and because I tasted it they made me pay for it. They offered to make it again but I already had waited a long time. I told them I just tasted it and they took off the coffee . They threatened to call the police if I didn't pay. Never did I say I would not. They are awful.What kind of class act is that! Nice little diner on the side road. It has a old time feel to it which is super cute . Southern waitresses! Chocolate chip pancakes aren't on the menu, so just ask! Maybe we chose poorly from the menu. Should there be a rule that when stopping at a diner that you always choose eggs or pancakes? That may have saved us. My wife chose rather strangely, but it should have been edible. She got the house salad with ranch on it. She also got some fried cheese sticks from the menu. I got a roast beef po-boy as I was loving those while in LA. Our food arrived quickly enough. But the waitress noted that they DIDN'T HAVE MARINARA FOR THE CHEESE STICKS! when sitting them down on the table. Shouldn't she have come back after putting in the order to ask if we wanted something else due to a lack of proper sauce? They offered us ranch dressing, but it was the worst ranch I have ever experienced. I know, lots of 2 star places use this same ranch dressing, but I will also give them 2 stars. Her salad was pretty bad. There were a few pieces of randomly sized iceberg lettuce and some mealy tomatoes with that same ranch in the previous paragraph. She didn't eat it and I certainly wan't touching it. Her cheese sticks came from Costco. I could shop at Costco if I wanted crappy frozen food, but I don't. I won't pay for you to do it for me either. My po-boy was pretty much the best thing we had. The bread was proper and the beef was decent, but the gravy was from Durkee. I ate the whole thing, but if you want a po-boy, go across town to Ky's Bike Shop. Next time I go through Slidell, I won't be eating here. read more

Stopped by here on the way home from Air Land Sea festival in New Orleans. We were hungry and our son found this spot on Google. We thought it would be a unique place to stop and our son always wanted to eat at diner style restaurant. Their menu has a great variety of items. My son had pancakes from the breakfast menu, daughter had the steak, I had the country fried steak and my husband had the Shrimp dinner. Everything was tasty and wonderful. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere enjoyable. Next time I'm in Slidell this will be a place to visit. read more

Good food, great service, as any diner should be. My mom thoughly enjoyed her Chicken Fried Steak. My dad's Catfish plate had the pleasant surprise of 2 onion rings along with the 2 corn fritters and a pile of fries. I went for one of the specials on the board, Catfish with 2 eggs (over medium), grits, and "panbread" (Texas toast). My eggs were perfect and the fish was pretty good with a nice low salt breading. This is definitely going to be our go to for a fast breakfast. We decided to place a phone order at the Big Easy Dinner due to COVID restrictions. We were skeptical because we never ate here before and the dinner is located right in our neighborhood. I ordered a pancake breakfast, with scrambled eggs, grits, and a side of country ham steak. My husband ordered the same except he had waffles instead of pancakes. When we received our meals our face lit up. Just looking at it had my mouth watering. Everything was cooked to perfection. My pancakes was so moist and soft. Grits, and eggs were hot and flavorful. My favorite was my country ham steak. It was cooked golden. We were so impressed.
