My experience was horrible. Not only did my food come burnt, my side item as also missing. My Monte Cristo was fried hard and overly cooked. I seen that when I got home getting ready to eat my food. I was immediately dissatisfied with my order. I got back into my car and headed back to the restaurant. This is around 10:52pm and the restaurant closes at 11pm. I picked my order up around 10:31pm a little earlier. So, me feeling like I won't make it in time. I called the restaurant in route, heading there. I as able to get a manager on the phone before I arrived to the restaurant. We started having the conversation about my issue as I was pulling up to the door. It is now 11pm. I told the manager Jason I was outside your restaurant and he told me he can't let me in after hours. Mind you I seen several people walking out the restaurant while I'm on the phone with him. I told him that my Monte Cristo was overly cooked and burnt. He then asked an employee did they see my order was burnt and that employee confirmed to him "yes" it was while I was on the phone. At this time I didn't realize I was missing my side of fries, bacon, & queso at the time because I was focused on getting to the restaurant before they close to fix my Monte Cristo. He told me he will send me a gift card via email. It will be in my email between tonight and tomorrow. He never said the amount. I gave him my email address and we got off the phone. When I got back home that's when I realized I was missing my fries, queso and bacon. I woke up the next morning still to no email with a gift card. I ran important errands and ended up going to the restaurant after 6pm. I still haven't received the gift card yet. I never touched the food and brought it with me. I go inside the restaurant and asked for a manager and he comes like 10 mins later. I stared telling him the situation and realize this is Jason the manager I spoke with yesterday night. I can't remember his exact words but he asked me for my email again. So, that confirmed he didn't send me the gift card. I told him to just replace my Monte Cristo, add powder sugar, add my side I never received of fries, queso, & bacon and to not send me the gift card. I waited for my food for 25 minutes or so. Jason and I inspected the food to make sure the quality was good. I told him I was satisfied and left. I honestly was tired of waiting. When I got home to eat the food. I honestly didn't enjoy it. The Monte Cristo tasted like it was fried in older grease, it barely had powder sugar on them, meaning two of them did and two of them didn't. The fries were ok. It was not worth it. I'm not sure where the problem is... if it's with the night management, it maybe the cook, the lady who brought my food to my car or do the restaurant even have a quality inspection person at all. They confirmed on the phone that my food was dark before they gave it to me and it still got to me. The reason why I say this is because this had happened to me three months ago. They ended up giving me Salmon instead of white fish and I had to go the restaurant and complain to the manager just like I did today. I didn't want a gift card I just wanted my order to be right the first time and for the food to be good. I like the food from Cheddar's but I'm hating the quality of service they provide now. I didn't leave a review three months ago but I'm leaving one today. There's other competition within the same area such as Long Horn Steakhouse & BJ's Brew House. I have been here twice while traveling through the Slidell area, and both times I was very impressed with the experience. The food quality was great, portions were massive, and the price was kind of unbelievable. I seriously have to wonder about their profit margins when they give you so much. It just looks nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say both times I have been here they had put out rugs and yellow hazard signs because the floors were slippery from humidity, so perhaps they should rethink their flooring.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their spinach dip appetizer is great and you get plenty of dip. I tried the country fried steak with white gravy and a baked potato, and it was very good. I was wiping up the gravy with pieces of the potato. I also got a side salad and it was a great size. My wife had the chicken pot pie and loved hers. On another occasion, I had a dijon chicken dish that came with two large pieces of chicken that were well cooked and seasoned. Our server was prompt and courteous, and he kept our drinks filled. The food comes out very quickly and it was just an overall great experience. Of course, the honey butter croissants were amazing (as always), and for the first time I tried the spinach dip with sour cream on top -- surprisingly good! The only real disappointment was the drink. It looked pretty, but it didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it at all. The fried fish plate was dry and overcooked and the steak fries were limp and no longer crispy. The chicken fried steak was okay but nothing to write home about. Best side was the broccoli casserole although it was essentially just broccoli covered in the nacho cheese used in the queso. This Cheddars is located in the Fremaux town center along with other restaurants and a lot of retail stores. I've visited this location multiple times, it's the only Cheddars I've ever been too. It has a good bit of options on the menu and they are affordable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked in there weren't many people at all, only a few people in the booths in front and behind us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took the waiter about 10 minutes to acknowledge us which was strange since there weren't many people in the restaurant at all. I had to press a button on the decide on the table that said page waitress to get her attention. Only then did she finally come to the table. At the restaurant they always start you off with complimentary honey butter croissants that are so good! Sometimes they have seasonal specials and I decided to get the steak tips with onions and mushrooms over mashed potatoes(I asked for the gravy on the side). I also ordered a side salad because I was hungry. My dad ordered the key west chicken and shrimp. The steak tips were ok but I've had their regular sirloin steak before which I found better. I'm glad I asked for the gravy on the side because I didn't like it. My dad was satisfied with his food. I had an Arnold Palmer which was good and sweet like I like it. Bless our waitress's heart, she was older and in pain; we had a group of 20+ and she was really trying but the kitchen staff... they need a meeting ASAP! The way they fucked our orders up was ridiculous!! Allllllllll of our orders were fucked! My aunt never received her order and waited over an hour! My father in law never received his shrimp on the side. Due to the orders being messed up and late as shit we just requested To-Go boxes. Instead of letting us know they were out of Dr. Pepper, they just gave Root Beer as if we wouldn't notice ‍ no alcohol in the alcoholic beverages. They didn't have strawberries for our rum punch. The food was bland as hell. Stingy with the honey butter on the free croissants we had to damn near beg for. The cream that came with the shrimp was basically seasoned half and half poured on top so it looked like a soup with a steak topped with grilled shrimp. My sides were carrots and corns. The soup leaked over to my carrots. The steak looked boiled. Three that out. The ribs were edible enough. Most likely ate it bc I was so damn hungry after a long day at work. A) I have to call him the bald guy because he NEVER told us his nam, didn't introduce himself or anything B) he was HARDLY behind the bar and made it IMPOSSIBLE to get drinks while sitting at the bar. C) served food but never utensils or napkins had to wait til he finally came back from the bar and actually looked our way and saw that we weren't eating to know to bring us some . I and the other 2 people in my party are very disappointed in our visit tonight. The service was mediocre, nothing stood out as caring. It wasn't busy during our visit as we entered around 6pm-ish. My husband had the ribs & steak, my Stepson had the ribs & chicken tenders and I had the 14oz ribeye. My ribeye turned out to be a lopsided fat-cap. I returned it and they did cook me another....much better and actually a better looking cut. BUT... NONE of the food had any seasoning. The steak sears looked great but absolutely flavorless! Ribs & tenders, flavorless! Fries, over fried and the broccoli casserole was bland as well. Driving from Gulfport to Slidell just for Cheddars, we won't be returning. We've eaten here several times before and usually have a decent experience, but this visit was disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restrooms were in very poor condition--trash was overflowing, one stall had a cleaning towel left on the rail, another stall had no tissue, and the floors and toilets were visibly dirty. Overall, the area appeared unkempt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area floor was also very slippery, which raised some safety concerns.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Additionally, our food was not served hot. The one bright spot during our visit was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and provided great service despite the other issues. Cheddars is a vibe. It has such a luxurious environment. You can go in a button-down and slacks or gym shorts and a graphic tee. The parking lot is huge but during peak times it can fill up. It's in the epicenter of a very busy shopping area, so they sometimes have long waits. I tend to sit at the bar and go during off-peak times, so I rarely experience this. The staff are always very friendly and manage the customer flow very well. My most recent experience was in the bar area. I sat in the booth and still received prompt service. I ordered the chicken tenders and shrimp because I'm childish. The tenders were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I order the Patron Magarita and it had a nice kick to it. The waiter checked in often, but not to the point of being a nussiance. Cheddar's price point would fall at $ and its amazing. The quality of their food and the cleanliness of their restaurant is $$$ or more, quality. They remind me that you can definitely eat out and not break the bank. Always a delight at Cheddars. I learned recently the owners of Cheddars also own other companies like Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Eddie V's and Bahama Breeze. I've been to many of those listed and all are typically great but cheddars is such a great cheap and delicious meal. You'll even have some to take home! As always, make sure to get the croissant rolls because they are the best. I'm considering making the drive from Nola to Slidell just to get those bad boys for holiday brunch! read more
