I love Cheddars in Slidell but we need one in Metairie or Kenner. The hamburgers are large & tasty.

I ordered steak (med rare) topped with "creamy" shrimp and ribs. The steak looked boiled. The cream that came with the shrimp was basically seasoned half and half poured on top so it looked like a soup with a steak topped with grilled shrimp. My sides were carrots and corns. The soup leaked over to my carrots. The steak looked boiled. Three that out. The ribs were edible enough. Most likely ate it bc I was so damn hungry after a long day at work. I have been here twice while traveling through the Slidell area, and both times I was very impressed with the experience. The food quality was great, portions were massive, and the price was kind of unbelievable. I seriously have to wonder about their profit margins when they give you so much. When you walk in, the place has a very chill vibe with lots of brick archways and even an aquarium. There isn't really a theme but also not a lot of gaudy decor on the walls. It just looks nice. I will say both times I have been here they had put out rugs and yellow hazard signs because the floors were slippery from humidity, so perhaps they should rethink their flooring. Their spinach dip appetizer is great and you get plenty of dip. I tried the country fried steak with white gravy and a baked potato, and it was very good. I was wiping up the gravy with pieces of the potato. I also got a side salad and it was a great size. My wife had the chicken pot pie and loved hers. On another occasion, I had a dijon chicken dish that came with two large pieces of chicken that were well cooked and seasoned. Our server was prompt and courteous, and he kept our drinks filled. The food comes out very quickly and it was just an overall great experience. Dinner for two with an appetizer was less than fifty bucks. I wish we had one closer to home. read more

Too bad can't make it a negative star review cause they would be amazing in the negative bracket!!!! All I can say is I would love to be leaving a positive review but there is no way possible. Walked in was greeted by the hostess and told then was gonna go sit at the bar. Went to the bar and sat down, and no bartender around. Looked and there was 3 staff members talking over at the corner who saw us cause made eye contact. After sitting for 18 minutes and never having anyone even acknowledge our presence we just got up and left the restaurant. Told the hostess on the way out if this business doesn't want the money just let people know they may or may not get service at the bar. Absolutely the worst service ever!!!!! A compete let down for sure. So before you decide to go and sit at the bar ensure they have staff to serve you or be prepared to wait to be served or acknowledged whenever an employee I guess is ready!!!! read more

Cheddar's is always pretty consistent -- nothing mind-blowing, but definitely better than drive-through fast food. The servers are always polite and helpful and most times the ambiance is laid back and a quiet place to have dinner. I ordered the bourbon salmon with rice and coleslaw (my go-to), and as usual the salmon was really good. I also split the country fried chicken with white gravy. The chicken itself was seasoned really well, but the gravy didn't quite hit the mark. On the side, the broccoli and cheese casserole was delicious. Of course, the honey butter croissants were amazing (as always), and for the first time I tried the spinach dip with sour cream on top -- surprisingly good! The only real disappointment was the drink. It looked pretty, but it didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it at all. For $5.99, I guess I shouldn't have expected much, but it was still underwhelming. Overall, the food was solid, the croissants never disappoint, but I'd skip the drink next time. read more

Went to eat today, just pulling off typing this review. The black male that is bald behind the bar service was so disappointing. A) I have to call him the bald guy because he NEVER told us his nam, didn't introduce himself or anything B) he was HARDLY behind the bar and made it IMPOSSIBLE to get drinks while sitting at the bar. C) served food but never utensils or napkins had to wait til he finally came back from the bar and actually looked our way and saw that we weren't eating to know to bring us some . D) He only asked us ONE time if we needed anything and that after we FINALLY got our food. I wanted to order a drink but never got the chance to because he was not attentive WHATSOEVER. This Cheddars is located in the Fremaux town center along with other restaurants and a lot of retail stores. I've visited this location multiple times, it's the only Cheddars I've ever been too. It has a good bit of options on the menu and they are affordable. When we walked in there weren't many people at all, only a few people in the booths in front and behind us. It took the waiter about 10 minutes to acknowledge us which was strange since there weren't many people in the restaurant at all. I had to press a button on the decide on the table that said page waitress to get her attention. Only then did she finally come to the table. At the restaurant they always start you off with complimentary honey butter croissants that are so good! Sometimes they have seasonal specials and I decided to get the steak tips with onions and mushrooms over mashed potatoes(I asked for the gravy on the side). I also ordered a side salad because I was hungry. My dad ordered the key west chicken and shrimp. The steak tips were ok but I've had their regular sirloin steak before which I found better. I'm glad I asked for the gravy on the side because I didn't like it. My dad was satisfied with his food. I had an Arnold Palmer which was good and sweet like I like it. I'm sure I'll be back again but probably wouldn't order the steak tips again. read more

Gorgeous vibes and friendly staff but mediocre food that was edible but not particularly inspiring. We ordered the chips and queso, white fish plate, and chicken fried steak. Before the food arrived, they brought out their signature crescent appetizer--a dish that was tasty but an odd choice for a starter. The fried fish plate was dry and overcooked and the steak fries were limp and no longer crispy. The chicken fried steak was okay but nothing to write home about. Best side was the broccoli casserole although it was essentially just broccoli covered in the nacho cheese used in the queso. Also we were shocked to find that the floors were sticky, there were no napkins at our table, and our waitress had to be told when the drinks needed refilling. I think after the new management trains the employees a bit more, this place will improve in the future. read more

Bless our waitress's heart, she was older and in pain; we had a group of 20+ and she was really trying but the kitchen staff... they need a meeting ASAP! The way they fucked our orders up was ridiculous!! Allllllllll of our orders were fucked! My aunt never received her order and waited over an hour! My father in law never received his shrimp on the side. Due to the orders being messed up and late as shit we just requested To-Go boxes. Instead of letting us know they were out of Dr. Pepper, they just gave Root Beer as if we wouldn't notice ‍ no alcohol in the alcoholic beverages. They didn't have strawberries for our rum punch. The food was bland as hell. Stingy with the honey butter on the free croissants we had to damn near beg for. It was my daughter's bday and they didn't give her dessert, they didn't even ask if we wanted to order dessert lol. This location should be shut down until management gets it together. We visited Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Slidell last night while heading back from New Orleans. We arrived after 9 pm and the establishment didn't close until 11. We've eaten here several times before and usually have a decent experience, but this visit was disappointing. The restrooms were in very poor condition--trash was overflowing, one stall had a cleaning towel left on the rail, another stall had no tissue, and the floors and toilets were visibly dirty. Overall, the area appeared unkempt. The dining area floor was also very slippery, which raised some safety concerns. Additionally, our food was not served hot. The one bright spot during our visit was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and provided great service despite the other issues. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet the standard we've come to expect, and we hope improvements are made moving forward. read more

I and the other 2 people in my party are very disappointed in our visit tonight. The service was mediocre, nothing stood out as caring. It wasn't busy during our visit as we entered around 6pm-ish. My husband had the ribs & steak, my Stepson had the ribs & chicken tenders and I had the 14oz ribeye. My ribeye turned out to be a lopsided fat-cap. I returned it and they did cook me another....much better and actually a better looking cut. BUT... NONE of the food had any seasoning. The steak sears looked great but absolutely flavorless! Ribs & tenders, flavorless! Fries, over fried and the broccoli casserole was bland as well. Driving from Gulfport to Slidell just for Cheddars, we won't be returning. I love that this place serves Honey Butter Croissants before your meal. I ordered the Bourbon-Glazed Salmon & Shrimp over rice and you get to select 2 sides. My sides was extra rice and broccoli. I enjoyed the food and the service was good. You can't beat the price for what you get. read more

Our Togo server was nice she made adjustment to my side order coz my son texted me after I made an order and she nicely changed it with no attitude love her . A bit wait but it's ok. Thing I will highlight the first host greet us was not in her station for about 5-10 minutes I stand. The bartender was the only one I saw keep moving taking care his costumers. One waitress grab a few bite of her lunch or whatever and back to kitchen and send food out to bar area no idea if she work on her lunch time or she don't have her lunch time. The new host replace the first host it's more attentive to walk costumer prompt greet with smile and send them to the table and also keep her other duty. Give 4 stars for their 3 workers that do the job well done. Son said food tastes ok. read more

I highly recommend coming eat here and please ask for JANAE, she's one of the best ! the ambiance of the place was great as well! The host was sooo sweet, I love how he not only introduced himself, but was engaging, very RARE... you go somewhere, where the host is engaging and asking about your past visits as well as summarizing who's your server ! We should have listened to the reviews. The restaurant is not clean. The service was also poor. We requested napkins multiple times and our waitress needed to be reminded about bar drinks. Always a delight at Cheddars. I learned recently the owners of Cheddars also own other companies like Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, The Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Eddie V's and Bahama Breeze. I've been to many of those listed and all are typically great but cheddars is such a great cheap and delicious meal. You'll even have some to take home! As always, make sure to get the croissant rolls because they are the best. I'm considering making the drive from Nola to Slidell just to get those bad boys for holiday brunch! read more

Went to Cheddars on Monday 4/28/25 with family of 5, 2 from Conneticut. First of all when walking into the restaurant there was a stench of dirty carpet smell. We were seated in a u-shaped booth in a dark corner. My daughter noticed when sliding into the booth there was food (pieces of chicken and other food) on the seat. Also there was a large hole in the seat where the stuffing was showing. The waitress seated us in another area after we informed her. We ordered burgers. I took mine home after eating half and took the rest home. I tried to eat it the next day and the half portion had the distinct flavor of a char taste that resembled a taste of a grill that had not been cleaned well. We have eaten at Cheddars for years but it seems the quality of the food has really changed. Was very disappointed! read more

In town visiting some family we decided to stop here for lunch. This was a really good spot for a chain restaurant. Actually more then good. This was by far the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. Table of 4 waited over 1hr to receive our food. 2 orders came out , and 2 were still missing. When I asked to change the orders to go, we received the check with all 4 ordered charges. Once we paid, the remaining two orders still weren't out so we got up and left. Once we left, the server said she'll get the manager. Which was too late. The manager should've been called from the beginning not when we are leaving. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Service was absolutely terrible with no effort from the staff to try and make it right. read more
