We don't come to Waffle House for the gourmet cuisine. We come here for a late night escape from the freeway and a semi friendly smile offering something semi decent to eat. The brightly lit interior, with the buzzing fluorescent and clattering of cooking equipment, is swallowed up by the random late night conversations of other highway strangers who happen to be looking for an escape from the road as well. My platter didn't disappoint (at least not anymore than normal). A cup of coffee, 2 scrambled eggs and a tasty waffle. Many places get it wrong. Waffle House gets it done with style. read more

Best Waffle House in Slidell! Very nice location as well. I don't even go to the one closest to my house. I always follow my rule of thumb that if a Waffle House does not serve waffles that say "Waffle House" then it is not going to be good (it usually never is lol). This WH of course has waffles that say WH and they are always good and fluffy. All of the food is great at this one. The staff is always sooo nice. There's this one lady that has been working there a while and she usually helps me with my Togo orders. She's so sweet and nice I love her! I'll have to get her name next time I go back. Awe, we had the sweetest server at this waffle house location! We were in town visiting from California and the hubby really wanted to have breakfast here. I wish I could remember the name of our server- she was so outgoing, attentive and sweet! The food came up fast and for the prices, it wasn't bad! I ordered the pecan waffle (they put a ton of pecans in it!) and the loaded hashbrowns with cheese and onions. Again, pretty good for coffee shop style food. Worse service ever! Didn't have orange juice, requested an unsweet tea and got a coke. Ordered a waffle, bacon and hash browns and got everything but the waffle. I had to reminder her 30 min later and then it was burnt so she had to make another. While she was the only one there other than the cook she had no sense of urgency and lacked the ability to prioritize. What was worse is the cook locked himself away in the back while all of this was happening. It would have been nice for him to exude a bit of teamwork to help for a good experience for the customer. I called to place a to go order and got a recording saying that as a courtesy to their dining guests, they are limiting their take out order. So I drove there and the place was empty. Waitress was just standing and said that the place was packed just a few minutes ago. Since there were no dirty tables, I seriously doubt that. The cook was cleaning the grill and counters. I was immediate struck by the customer device as soon as I arrived. This is not something overlooked on my behalf. I frequently places to eat regularly. They range from 5 star dining to mom & pop places. I often visit Waffle House especially when traveling. You can always get a pretty good breakfast regardless of location. This location even had someone at the door to welcome and ooen the door....nit because of crowd control or to take our name for the wait list but simply to greet customers. The line was long but the workers were doing their very best. Once I got to the register to give my order, my sugar was dropping fast and I was clammy and felt faint, Tony got me an orange juice immediately and likely saved my life. After drinking the entire glass of juice I was able to get to my car, take some deep breath's, chill and then go back in about ten minutes later and my order was ready and correct. When I got home I realized I can never get my grits and eggs to taste as good as this Waffle House. It is well worth the wait. Horrible service by Cas. My friend ordered a coffee and when it was empty she was never asked for a refill. She had to ask. She also had to get her own sugar and creamer. When checking out and paying the cashier asked how was our experience and we told her not that great. She said sorry and you should have said something so we could have fixed it. Food is good. Service is always awful. People waiting for tables while employees ignore cleaning the dirty tables. Have been here many times and always have problems. One night we came here and we were told they didn't have any food and we're sent away. Waited 20 minutes to place a to go order while they took orders over the phone while I was sitting right next to register. Got attitude when I asked if I should call in my order. After catching a late night flight from Vegas, my wife and I stop in for a late night bite. It's obvious that the A team does not work at 2am on Tuesday, 7/12/16. We go in, grab a table, and sit there from 2:25am - 2:35am without anything. No drink, no menu, nothing. The waitress did see us shortly after we sat and said she'd be right over as she was helping 4 guys ordering at the counter. Never happened. At 2:35, a guy walks who she obviously recognized, and sat down. She immediately asks what he's drinking and pours him a coffee. That's when we got up and walked out. It's clear that the 2 people working this particular shift need a manager to provide them with direction. read more

I've been to only a few Waffle House's as I try to avoid them, not really any particular reason. Just never really desired to go I guess. But anyway, after a long night in NOLA and heading back to Florida the next day, we decided to stop here for breakfast. The waitstaff was very friendly and served us coffee even though she apparently wasn't allowed to until we put in our food order (I don't really understand that reasoning). This place had an old time diner feel to it, which I really enjoyed. Food was good and had a good time watching the cooks sometimes butt heads with the waitstaff. I think what set this place above all other WH's is the manager. He was young and super friendly, and seemed to really care about his job and his employees. I felt bad since he was working on Sunday and it was his birthday, but he was very high spirited and seemed happy to be there. The food was what you would expect from a WH.
