The beignets were some of the best we have had while on this trip! So fluffy and flavorful and great portions and prices were great ! The service was quick and friendly you can tell this is a local hotspot. Plenty of tables to sit and enjoy. Very quiet atmosphere. Definitely would return ! read more

The beignets are great. The caf'e aulait is weak. I thought the prices are high but I know it's hard for small businesses to compete with chains. The young staff are nice and attentive; the lady in the back was quietly working on things in the back. I will stop by next time I'm around. I live in WA State now so it was nice to have Beignets Aulait around on our long drive. When you're driving thousands of miles you don't want long lines or city driving. read more

I was so very excited to try my first beignet !!!! Easily placed an order over the phone and added on a breakfast sandwich too, since it was going to be a long day! I tried the Cafe au Lait, but it wasn't very strong. The flavor was not overly sweet either, it was good tasting, it's just me, I prefer a stronger coffee. The beignet's were the hit! I personally loved the like crispy edges! I think it could have used a TON more toppings, powdered sugar too. They were hot and flavorful, not too thick with crust and not too thin.... They were jusssssst right, like the three bears! The owner was a beautiful lady, but she was shy for a picture. It's a cute cafe, I totally recommend stopping in! Plus there's a lot of shopping next door and a restaurant too! read more

The breakfast sandwiches were fresh and hot. We tried the cream cheese beignets which were yummy. Their iced coffee was my favorite, made exactly the way I asked. The shop owner was training a young lady so it took a while to get our food, but it was worth it. read more

5/5 Beignet with praline and pecan Surprisingly, the best beignet we had in New Orleans was nowhere near the French Quarters, but about an hour north at Beignet Au Lait. The Beignet is not overly big and is filled with a mix or larger and smaller pieces. Each piece is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the syrup is not overly sweet but still offers a distinct taste compared to a classic powdered sugar beignet. My partner and I shared an order and found that it was the perfect size to scratch our itch. read more

I just wasted 10mins of life and $8.50 for these tiny beignets. I order three large I could've paid 4 dollars for something like this In New Orleans. Slidell should stick to something else cause this was a waste. read more

Loved the beignets here when I first came thru Slidel. Came back on another visit to NOLA and this time tried other flavors--lemon, wedding cake, birthday cake, and eggnog with 3 friends. All agreed the mini-size and getting them hot out of the fryer is SO MUCH BETTER THAN the original beignets in NOLA. read more

Beignet Au Lait - Really enjoyed the minis, which allowed us to share - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Light, fluffy and delicious beignets. Excellent toppings and sides that take them to an even higher level!! Highly recommend!

Beignets and coffee were fine. Black manager/owner (?) was incredibly rude, with us and with her new hires. Was even nasty with a delivery person. Never greeted us, asked how everything was, etc. Then, she overcharged us around $15 for two orders of beignets and two coffees and one water. $50!! We didn't realize it til halfway home. Never again! read more

What an absolute treat! We absolutely love the beignets here and you're doing yourself a disservice by not getting a bunch to try. The mini beignets are so unique and offer more crunch per surface area, but you also can't go wrong with the full sized beignets for a proper experience. So far we have tried wedding cake, lemon, and blackberry and they were all amazing! Not too sweet either. The Cafe au lait is mighty tasty too! The owner and server are incredibly warm and sweet people as well. Instead of waiting in line for Cafe Du Monde, make the trip out here and have some seriously amazing and life changing beignets! (No joke it will take you less time to make the drive out here, order, eat, and drive back than waiting in line at CduM!!!) read more

We were passing though the area headed to Houston, so we wanted something authentic and tried this place and so glad we did! My husband started with the pralines and cream coffee and he said it was the best coffee he's ever had. He practically licked the cup clean. We ordered a breakfast to split so we didn't order more than we could eat since we are on the road. The sausage was the best breakfast sausage I've ever had! It was juicy and delicious! Everything was good perfectly and tasted great. The meal came with 2 mini beignets (we were given 3) and you could choose any glaze on top or powdered. We chose praline and they even put fresh pecans on top. They were absolutely delightful! We will definitely stop back on our way back home. read more

Went in to cafe for first time and asked where the bathroom was and person working was very rude and I assured her I was a customer but I had to go bathroom first when I came back to place my order she went to kitchen passed me up without saying I'll be right back or give me a minute So I stood there and saw a coffee station so I went to get me a coffee while I waited for her to take my order she rushed up to me said she had to pour the coffee so I didn't get burned So then she got the coffee and took my order very short with me and made me feel unwelcome this being my first time I was not aware of her rules I do not think I will return and if I do and she is there I will leave read more

I first discovered Beignet Au Lait about 12 years ago when they were in a different location. They are just as wonderful as I recall... the beignets are, in my opinion, superior to other more commercial ones I've had. They have lists of choices, but I stick with the traditional powdered sugar coated ones... the best! Nothing quite as wonderful As a cafe au lait and beignets. Hopefully this offends no one, but I like to dunk the beignets in the cafe au lait for a tasty combination! read more

These beignets were PHENOMENAL--light, fluffy, and fresh!!! My group and I walked in 30 minutes before closing and were swiftly greeted and served. I also ordered a cafe au lait with vanilla, which was not too sweet and paired perfectly with the powdered sugar beignets. Though I didn't order any savory food, this is a humble homestyle restaurant that also has breakfast foods. I will be sure to make a stop here the next time I'm in New Orleans! read more

I am so impressed by this business! My family and I were out of town, visiting family, and were craving some beignets since they aren't too common in our area. We misread the closing time of this business, but the owner, Ionna, saw us outside and offered to reopen for us! She was very kind and the beignets were to die for! We ordered 18 and ate all of them! Amazing hospitality and food - definitely worth stopping by if you get the chance! read more

paid $38 for this small portion it was take out. The food was good but the price/portion are just not justified. The bowls need to have 2 eggs at least and maybe add hash browns! the beignets were supposed to be a dozen mini but were only 10! The price doesn't match the portion read more

Stopped in to do a little work and just have a quick brunch. Walked into a typical "cafe" feel sort of place. On the wall were numerous posters with comments from past guests with a lot of positive things to say - which sets a tone of expectation. I ordered what appears to be the standard breakfast because, just being honest, living three decades in Louisiana, I've had enough Beignets for a lifetime! I received a very well done meal, without a long wait, consisting of eggs, crispy bacon, grits, toast and - as a bonus - two mini beignets! - which turned out to be JUST the right size. All the flavor and none of the guilt! All in all, a nice spot and a future working meal place for me. Love hearing Satchmo in the background and shout out to Mirabella - fast, friendly and went out of her way to help me find a good spot to work - somebody give that girl a raise! read more

Beignet Au Lait - Beignets - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

I placed an order at 9:10am, following their motto "skip the line - call ahead." I arrived at 9:22am, on my way to my daughter's school. I was hoping that I would be able to get in and out. But to my surprise, I arrived and there was only one waiter, a young girl around 14 working. She was very polite, but was being bossed around in a negative way by the owner. The criticism was not constructive. The owner appeared to be overwhelmed and took her frustrations out on the waiter. I have come in here often enough to know that there is a high rotation in workers. Now I think it's because of the owners attitude towards them. It is 10am and I am still waiting. I've watched 4 potential customers walk out and an elderly guest falling asleep in the chair while waiting to place his order. My suggestion would be to hire people she can trust to work the register and train folks that are old enough or are capable of making beignets alongside her. The beignets are great, however, the service and wait times, cause me to regularly second guess coming here for food. I also had to cancel a class and my daughter was late for school due to this. Sad!!! read more

Gotta give a bit of a break since they don't seem able to staff a cook or servers, but reality still needs to be considered. The location is not great for staying to eat, so DoorDash instead. It's a breakfast place that serves egg meals... but ONLY scrambled (seemingly powdered) eggs. Don't bother asking for a fried egg. The biscuits were tasty, and the two micro beignets were alright. We ordered the regular Carmel glazed beignets to-go and they were very light on the glaze which was disappointing. I do think they are trying, and the service was very polite. There are just better options available for the value. **After the owner's response** There are several signs posted around the place advertising that they are looking to hire servers and a cook, offering a sign on bonus for the cook. The restaurant was not socially distanced, just dirty tables and no staff to attend to the 3 occupied tables (no customers were turned away, that's all that showed up on a Sunday morning). A chef of 1 year should be able to fry an egg on order. The waitress was very clear that scrambled eggs are the ONLY option (leading to the suspicion of boxed or powdered eggs... which are very plausible since we actually ate and tasted them). The bacon seemed like it was microwaved. I did want to allow for grace due to staffing issues everywhere but it seems like this owner needs to adjust the rose colored glasses. Regardless of "tastebuds" there is a difference between "glazed" and "lightly drizzled". We went out of our way to dine there, and even stayed when our immediate reaction was to leave when we saw the condition of the dining area. But we really wanted to support local and skip the chains, but honestly there is better product being made at the Waffle House (whom will fry an egg if you'd like). read more

If all you are going for is a beignet then this is a great place, light, fluffy and delicious. The down side is breakfast, I got a breakfast sandwich for $11 and the word small comes to mind. It comes with 2 minis but the sandwich was on a small crescent, the cheese was not real cheese, the sausage was as thick as the cheese and the egg was not even a full egg, all croissant and no substance, extremely overpriced. When in town again may consider the beignet but never a breakfast sandwich read more

Bad customer service. Felt like I'm inconveniencing her when there's only one other person there. Speaking to both of us as if we're ignorant when we're trying to make a food order in the most simple and routine way possible. Very overpriced. Needs more ventilation for grease read more

Beignet Au Lait - the inside of a bag of doughnuts - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Slidell, Louisiana

Ordered on DoorDash but will not be a returning customer. I left a review on their DoorDash as well and they responded very rudely so I am coming here to leave my experience as well. The "Hot Buttered Grits" were probably the best thing I received even though for a small square Togo container they were not worth the 8$ they cost me. The "Croissant Breakfast Sandwich - Sausage" was meh, okay... but would be cheaper to get a frozen one from the grocery store for the same taste. It did arrive warm which was a plus. Their menu states they had a "Large Chocolate Milk" and a "Regular " in which I got one of each ( one for myself & one for my child) they were the same size ,and 1 day before expiration. (The owner says I should remember next time they have one size yet the menu states they have two). The Beignets were horrible ( in my opinion) since this is MY review. The owner has commented that everyone has their own taste buds. Which I agree but mine were not pleased. They tasted like old grease and were very heavy and dense and nothing like the beignets that I'm used to (being a NOLA local). Pretty upset at the price point as well for everything. If you are a tourist looking for a delicious, friendly, Louisiana restaurant I'd skip eating at this place. They should take the constructive criticism and apply it to their business as I've read many of the other reviews feel the same. read more

This is a tiny, nondescript spot nestled in a small random strip mall. We were in New Orleans for an event on what also happened to be a big holiday weekend and we wanted to grab some beignets before heading back home but I decided I'd rather look for some outside of the city and bypass all the crowds. I saw that this place was along our route. We arrived during normal brunch hours and there was only one other dining party there when we arrived; not finding it packed was a relief. The coffee was a perfect dark roast, our breakfast croissant sandwiches were average croissant size, not huge but tasty and hit the spot. The sandwiches come plain with no sides, but they do come with two mini beignets per order. We also ordered a regular beignets and they were delish. The staff was friendly, if not the most attentive. The only negative I can offer was that I had had a coffee while waiting on our order so a few bites into my breakfast sandwich and I was out of drink. Our waitress never came back over so I had to try to get her attention which took a while since her attention was always focused elsewhere and she never looked our way. I almost hate mentioning it because she really was sweet, but it did get to the point I was becoming annoyed... and very thirsty. It's just that keeping an eye on drinks and not completely abandoning your table after the food is served is kinda important, and the food was very tasty but the menu is very limited - so these two factors are my reasons for the 3 star rating. Otherwise, this was a pleasant little stop before we got back on the road. read more

We are regulars to Beignet Au Lait. The croissants are very good. But the owner is so rude to her employees which I have witnessed with my own eyes several times and I will not go back anymore after witnessing it once again today. She seems to have a new employee every week. This morning when we picked up our order she was reprimanding her employee in front of all the customers to the point of total embarrassment. This isn't the first time we have seen her doing this. There was another time that their telephone was busy for a while and when we mentioned it to the owner she just looked at us like we were crazy. Beignets are awesome! Very warm and made to order! Parking was good. The grits, biscuit and egg was very good. Cons: coffee is watered down and the peppermint mocha was even watered down. No flavor. Good stop for the way home. read more

PROS: Beignets are GOOD CONS: Cafe au lait is weak, watery. Service is quite slow. Went in with my mother who recalled their Cafe Au Lait being lame in a prior visit. We saw a woman at a nearby table drinking it and asked her if it was good; she answered that it was not strong like what you get at Cafe Du Monde. We ordered it anyway. Mistake. This is not true Cafe Au Lait that is served here. It is very weak, watery, milky something else. We returned it and got a regular coffee instead. Our order of Beignets was delicious. But when a business has only two major items to get right-- Beignets and Cafe Au Lait-- they should really get them BOTH spot on. The place was crowded and they had only one server waiting every table! She was dripping sweat, and was clearly rattled. It seemed unfair to her. The owners need to get some things tweaked in this place. read more

Best beignet and coffee in Louisiana, hands down. My husband has been working here from GA for two months and when I came down he had to introduce me to his favorite spot. I'm a coffee snob and this is hands down the best cafe au lait I've ever had. Beignets are fluffy and fresh. We were lucky enough to get to meet the owner and she has several glazes for the beignets we can't wait to try. I tried really hard to get the name of the coffee blend from her but she is tight lipped, for good reason! Other breakfast items as well. We tried the traditional kind, and some with raspberry glaze and they were all delicious--soft inside and not greasy at all. My husband got a breakfast sandwich that he liked and my praline coffee was divine. They ladies working were very nice and the owner/manager was kind enough to answer some questions about the area and gave us directions to a nearby park where we could spend some time before our tour.
