Grilled chicken breast and side fried green tomatoes (huge hit)
    Audra D.

Place was packed! Having lived on the same street for a year now, finally had a chance to walk here and try it. The food was poppin' and our server was friendly, as was the owner who came and said hello. I ordered the tacos and oh my delicious!! Tommy created his own plate, ala cart. A grilled chicken breast and side of fried green tomatoes. He said it was the absolute best meal ever. High praise from his picky self. Also they had bottled water (a real sized bottle) available for purchase. We will absolutely walk here again AND recommend it.

This place came highly recommended by a coworker. The diner is quaint, colorful, and easygoing. The service was welcoming and kind. We ordered a veggie scrambler with debris grits and a biscuit, a waffle, and the crabmeat grilled cheese with fries. The scrambler was just ok, grits and biscuit were awesome. The grilled cheese had good flavor and the bread was perfectly toasted and buttery. Overall, it was a little too rich for me. Lastly, the waffle was just the right amount of toasted with a moist interior. Really good. 8/10

The atmosphere is so cute and vibrant. The staff were uber kind as was the owner who was present and helping the staff. The food wasn't what we were expecting. Perhaps we should've dined in instead of ordering to-go because the croissant was chewy and the chicken was really dry. The potatoes we received looked nothing like the potatoes we saw on so many reviews. My crab cake bennie was delicious though, would recommend.

I went here with my bf after going for a walk on the lakefront for breakfast. We were immediately greeted when we entered the restaurant and were told we could pick where we wanted to sit. We chose a table and were greeted by our waitress, Lauren. She asked if this was our first time going there and it was and she did a great job pointing out things that a newbie would benefit from knowing, ie portion sizes, menu accommodations, etc. We both went with tea my bf's sweetened, and mine unsweetened to drink. I got the veggie scramble and biscuits with debris, and my bf got a scramble and waffle. Both of us really enjoyed what we got. The veggie scramble was delicious and the veggies were very fresh. The gravy for the debris biscuits was very flavorful and the meat was delicious. Lauren was very attentive and checked on us often to see if we needed anything and also to see how everything tasted. While the restaurant is small, it is very quaint and I loved the decor. I really enjoyed having breakfast here and would definitely go back.

My first time at Liz's did not disappoint!! The hospitality is truly unmatched. Liz herself came over to our table to introduce herself, and our waitress was phenomenal. Everyone enjoyed their meals! I got the scrambler, which was cooked to perfection! It was a great portion too. The bananas foster pancakes are huge so most people can only stomach 1 or 2 pancakes (just a warning). The restaurant is very cute with vibrant artwork. I will be back!

Crabmeat grilled cheese and sweet potato fries.

Crabmeat Grilled Cheese. Sounds like a gimmick, right? I mean, you can't have meat on a grilled cheese sammich! Wrong. ;) First off, Liz herself greeted us at the door and helped us get seated. It was packed, as usual, but there were two spots at the bar just waiting for me and Petunia. Handing us to the amazing Fallon, Liz wished us a great meal and a wonderful day - we were happy to oblige! Fallon got us started with some drinks and we decided on the Crabmeat Grilled Cheese with sweet potato fries on the side. I say "we," but that's only because we were sharing the sandwich P brought me here to eat. :D The fries were good, could have been crispier for my taste (I'll remember to ask for it next time), but the sandwich was so super delicious I didn't miss it! The toast is perfectly crisped all around, but once you break through that shell, the creamy, crabby goodness fills your mouth with so much love. Creamy and cheesy, and full of wonderful crab flavor - I wanted to eat the whole thing, but I was really glad Petunia took half...we were so full we didn't even finish the fries. So, crabmeat grilled cheese is a new favorite of mine, thank you, Petunia, for introducing us. But there is soooo much more to this menu, meaning there is something for everyone. Great bennies (egg benedict dishes), breakfast items on demand, sandwiches of many shapes and sizes. The only question left is, Where Y'at, you?

Had a feeling it would be busy at 11:30am on a Saturday but wanted to try it and stopped by, sure enough the parking lot was packed but we found a spot and went in and to our surprise we were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered Mimosas and looked over the menu and I wanted pancakes and Alé wanted Chicken and Waffles so order up we did. Food came fast and the ambiance was super fun. While waiting Liz came over and introduced herself to us (nice touch) the pancakes are huge, fluffy and so tasty. The chicken and waffles was amazing and the mimosa we awesome. We will be back as we want to try the other offered as well. So glad this place is local to us.

This restaurant definitely lives up to the hype! It got recommended to us by multiple people so we had to try it! The place is super cute in the way they decorate it and it's very spacious inside. We came during lunch on a Friday so we had no trouble getting a seat, but I've heard that the wait can be quite long on the weekends. Our waitress was also amazing! She conversed with us about the menu and we joked around quite a bit. She knew the menu really well and made some great recommendations! I ended up getting the Where Y'At Bennies Mix with the BBQ Shrimp and Big Easy Bennies. They were both different tastes with one being a grit cake and the other being a crab cake. I especially liked the Big Easy Bennie. My friend got the Gleason Scrambler which she enjoyed. The menu is extensive so I would definitely come back to try something else! Service: AA+, the service was excellent! Drinks: Full bar. I got a Bloody Mary and my friend got a Mimosa. Parking: There is a small parking lot. Outside Seating: There didn't appear to be any outdoor seating.

You know I lived in the Hammond area for most of my life (15-32) and I never once came here as much as I came to Mandeville and Covington. We were back in Louisiana visiting and our friends said let us take you to our favorite breakfast spot. I was like ok. When we pulled up I said I remember passing by this place all the time but I never stopped. It's super funky outside and in, the food was surprisingly very delicious, Liz the owner came to our table, and overall we had a great breakfast. So let's start from the beginning. We pull in, the only complaint I can say is parking, but that has nothing to do with the establishment. We came on a Saturday morning around 9:30/10 ish. Place was packed, we had to wait outside for about 15 min for our table of 7. If you know Louisiana in August, the weather is dreadful, but I must say they were prepared. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and it's already a tight fit and there's no inside waiting area. So they added misters and fans out front in the most shaded area along with water and coffee. So that was very well thought out. We waited around 10-15 minutes, got sat. Our waitress was overall a good waitress, not super warm in personality, but not a bad waitress. The menu was amazing, lots to choose from and I'm not a normal breakfast lover so I loved the addition of more savory Louisiana dishes. We started with the napoleon fried green tomatoes. It was well cooked and good, but I wish I would've done the traditional . The sauce was very rich. My husband got the grits and grillades and I got the shrimp and grits with crabmeat added. He liked his, I tasted it, and it was good; but mine was amazing. Everything about my shrimp and grits hit the spot. Definitely made a happy plate. Not super traditional in my mind but super tasty. Each of our dishes came with a biscuit and we both saved that for last. You just think it's a biscuit, man we could've ate like twelve of these. They were perfectly fluffy and just delicious. The iced coffee I got was good, however I wish they had an espresso machine; but that's me being picky. The food came out hot and delicious with hearty portions, service was good and Liz coming around to the tables introducing herself and thanking us for coming in really showed how much she cared. Also the interior decor definitely matches her personality. So sad I never frequented this place before.

Liz's never disappoints. The quality is always amazing and consistent! In fact, I often take visitors from out of town here to get a taste of Louisiana style breakfast. However, it's sometimes a stressful experience when you're there during busy times, it gets SO loud. But that won't keep me away!

This is a lively and quaint little diner. The food is delicious! Busiest on Saturday and Sunday, so expect a little wait with getting seated and for your food to be served. It's worth it though, we ordered the Gleason Scrambler, The Big Easy and Veggie Scrambler. All with cheese grits. I highly recommend having their homemade buttery biscuit too! All so satisfying and yummy.

We have our favorites on both sides of the lake, but I recently read some great reviews somewhere online about Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen with locations in both Mandeville and Covington. After speaking with our friends we decided to dine at the Covington location of Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen. Inside the entrance, the restaurant posts their policy that you will not be seated at a table until all parties have arrived, which is understandable considering the huge amount of business they have. My wife and I arrived before our friends who were running a little late. The Hostess, Jill, asked me how many in our party and I told her four, but the other couple was running late and would be arriving in about 20 minutes. We took a seat in the empty waiting area inside the entrance. The restaurant appeared to have only one or two empty tables available inside when I arrived on a beautiful day. Five to ten minutes later the waiting area was full (approx. ten people). The restaurant was extremely noisy with all their customers enjoying their meals and conversing with friends/family. I noticed that there were approximately ten tables located in front of the restaurant in a beautiful covered patio, so I asked Jill if we could have a table outside once our friends arrived in about five more minutes because one of them was somewhat physically handicapped. There was only one empty table in the patio at the time. Jill explained that since she had a reservation in the patio for a party of eight that would be arriving soon, so she had been holding it for another available outside table to put together to accommodate this party. However, she said she would gladly give us the table. By this time, the waiting room was full of people and overflowing outside the entrance. I had given my seat to a lady and stepped outside to wait for my friends, who I noticed had arrived and parking their car. I told Jill and she seated us at the table in the patio. The four of us ordered different things on the menu, which were fantastic. Although the restaurant was packed, the waitress AND Jill visited our table several times to ensure we were enjoying our meals. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchens' ambiance, service, menu items (along with portion sizes) and prices were absolutely astounding. We were all very impressed and grateful for a beautiful dining experience. Special thanks to Jill who was abundantly pleasant to deal with. Crazy Pig Southern Kitchen certainly placed Jill in the right position.

Anyway, after a brief 15-minute wait and watching incredible looking dishes walk past our noses, we were seated. I knew right away what I wanted. I ordered the smothered brie as an app. The hubs ordered the pancakes, and I ordered the grilled chicken strawberry salad. The smothered brie is literally Fall flavors on a plate. I felt like I was at Thanksgiving dinner and I loved it! Brie + honey + pecans + apples in a rich sauce to dip your bread into is my kind of dish! I felt like I needed a hot toddy to go with it. When entrees came out, I wasn't sure it could top that app, but it did. Those pancakes though! There was something about them, addictive! There was a crispiness on the edges, it wasn't burnt, but crispy and full of the sugary addictive flavor that I kept going back for more. I know you say a pancake is a pancake, but these were different and I haven't stopped talking about them. Then that salad, ok, it's hard to sell a salad but this one is really good. We gave ourselves an hour and a half, enough time to eat and get to our next planned and scheduled event that day. So, we weren't in a rush. We get in the quickly moving line to order our food at the counter. I order a salmon bagel and the hubs ordered a meatball ciabatta. We sit down and I noticed it is a very busy place. It is a very large place and I noticed how clean everything was and how efficient all the workers were at getting the food out. One after the other, food was coming out like an assembly line and the food looked good, too. But the assembly line apparently stopped, no orders were coming out, and we waited about 20 or 25 minutes. At least we had our drinks because it is a counter service type establishment. We noticed stacks and stacks of 'to go' orders were being placed in the counter area. After nearly 35 or 40 minutes we get our food. Some guy had ordered a 'football teams' worth amount of food. So, although it was not the restaurant's fault, it was frustrating the timing that our order was f course put in right after the guy that ordered 20 dishes. I get my bagel to try to eat quickly, since now we are in a little bit of a rush. And the bagel couldn't have been more complicated to eat. I just wanted a complete lox bagel but it was a deconstructed bagel where I had to put the thing together. I would have enjoyed the meal a little better had my bagel been properly served, like for example, the way Flour Moon serves their bagels to customers. I don't know if we will be back because I rarely visit the Northshore, this was a special occasion. I guess if I do come back, I would like to try one or two of the desserts from the case. Those looked really good.

The milk had large curdled clumps, a watery separation, a thick and slimy texture, and a strong sour smell. I kindly asked her to take it back and did not even request a replacement. Her only response was being visibly annoyed and offended by me asking that. Bear in mind that this came after several other issues with this server. We waited about 10 minutes for silverware, during which time my child ate most of his meal with his hands and my food became cold. During all that time, she was waking past us bringing other people silverware and replenishing their drinks, and engaging in casual chat with customers. Three items we ordered were never brought out, and I had to ask for each one separately and repeatedly. When I asked about the French fries she never brought out, she gave me dismissive response that they were included in our meal, and then visually inspected our plates to confirm they were not there. She then brought out a plate of cold, dry fries and placed it on the table without saying a word. The entire experience felt surreal! If owners are reading this, we visited on Saturday, 1/10/26 and were seated in the booth area. I do want to note that the tall girl at the front desk was incredibly kind, and I truly appreciated her for how sweet she was. Our negative experience was solely related to the girl who served us.

We really enjoyed Tchefuncte's!…read more They have their own parking lot, so it made it very easy to get in and out. You just park, the go inside, and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor. The service was phenomenal! It was for an anniversary, and they made sure to tell us happy anniversary, and add it to a little sign that was left on our table. Now for the main part: the food. Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy. Redfish - this was good, not great. Would probably try something else other than this if we went back. Tchefuncte Potatoes - they almost were like a twice baked potato (flavor wise), but they are super creamy and fluffy and then turned into a lightly fried ball. Good and very unique. Crème Brûlée - if you like crème brûlée then you will enjoy it here. A classic dessert that was delicious. And to top it all off, the ambiance was great. It is right on the water, and service was very attentive.
