Small restaurant that serves lunch. You place your order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. Nothing fancy just a small town place with a simple choice of food. It appears to be a popular local spot as the place started to fill up at 1130am and parking space was getting scarce. I placed my order for a Tuna fish salad on Texas toast and a sweet iced tea at the counter and it was brought to the table within 10 minutes. The Tuna salad was well seasoned and pretty good. It was served on plain toast vs. Texas toast, don't know if it was an error or if that's their version of Texas toast. The sweet tea was fresh and not overly sweet ( just right). Will be back to try their oyster poboy. Limited parking, no dedicated handicapped parking, family friendly.

Get off of the interstate right now and go eat here. Checked Yelp looking for a Cracker Barrel on the way home to New Orleans. So glad we pulled off a drove the 3 miles. Clean and cozy. Very friendly staff as you would expect in the south. The food. Delicious and lots of it. They have a pretty big menu in addition to daily specials. The lima beans were amazing. I had to look in the kitchen and see if my mama was back there. Highly recommended.

Wow. Eat where the locals are! They only use fresh fish so they will run out. Place is packed at lunch time and for good reason. Softshell fried crab was awesome. Pasta good, wasn't as impressed with the shrimp but no complaints. Kinda wished I lived by here... No I don't I'm from TEXAS

Look at this creepy doll. Loving this place!

Let me start by saying that I have NEVER left a bad review before, but I was genuinely shocked by…read morehow my 3-year-old and I were treated during our visit. The most concerning issue was that the waitress brought my child a cup of milk that was clearly spoiled. The milk had large curdled clumps, a watery separation, a thick and slimy texture, and a strong sour smell. I kindly asked her to take it back and did not even request a replacement. Her only response was being visibly annoyed and offended by me asking that. Bear in mind that this came after several other issues with this server. We waited about 10 minutes for silverware, during which time my child ate most of his meal with his hands and my food became cold. During all that time, she was waking past us bringing other people silverware and replenishing their drinks, and engaging in casual chat with customers. Three items we ordered were never brought out, and I had to ask for each one separately and repeatedly. When I asked about the French fries she never brought out, she gave me dismissive response that they were included in our meal, and then visually inspected our plates to confirm they were not there. She then brought out a plate of cold, dry fries and placed it on the table without saying a word. The entire experience felt surreal! If owners are reading this, we visited on Saturday, 1/10/26 and were seated in the booth area. I do want to note that the tall girl at the front desk was incredibly kind, and I truly appreciated her for how sweet she was. Our negative experience was solely related to the girl who served us.

Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern…read moreUnited States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try.

Although I ordered a regular waffle, I saw a waitress bring out a blueberry for someone else and commented to my husband how I should have ordered differently. Our waitress heard me and insisted on making me a blueberry waffle instead, assuring me the other would not go to waste. All the ladies working behind the counter were very friendly, engaging, and fun. It was clear they all loved working together, and it was nice to see them helping each other out with their customers. Sitting at the counter was a great way to watch them interact, and we appreciated how they all wished us safe travels back home. If I lived in the area, I'd be in here all the time. Good home cooked food with a great vibe!

Liz came by the table to say hi to my mother in law and to meet us all. I started my meal with a spicy Bloody Mary and then had the Seafood Scramble with Spicy Hollandaise and a side of Cheesy Grits. The scramble had a good amount of eggs and seafood and the sauce had a nice level of seasoning. I would've loved to have the biscuit that came but I saved it for my son since he can eat gluten. That biscuit looked soft and fluffy. I loved my egg dish. My son had a Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries and my brother in law had the Grilled Cheese and Crab Sandwich. They both looked great and apparently were delicious. The Shrimp and Grits and Debris Eggs Benedict were awesome too. We will definitely be back on our next trip if not another day this week.

Liz's exterior appears a little downtrodden and parking a bit limited, but inside is welcoming with a bright and shiny Louisiana ambiance. We had excellent service and Liz herself dropped by and welcomed us. We ordered a variety of specialties, with me enjoying an egg scrambler with all the trimmings, my wife having a sumptuous roast beef po'boy and my son having a burger and fries. All were very good and our iced tea glasses were never allowed to be empty. We were seated immediately, but business is brisk and you may need to be prepared to wait at peak times. We look forward to returning!

I've only ever had their breakfast here, but they do SUCH a great job, I'll have to come back for their lunches too It's a casual eatery that always seems to be fairly popular. Everything is very reasonably priced, so yummy, and their portions are generous. You'll go home full without completely emptying your wallet I highly recommend their "Poor Man's Benedict" ($10). It's SO good! It comes with their freshly baked biscuit topped with fried chicken and a poached egg, smothered in their homemade sausage gravy. The biscuit is soft, the eggs are perfect, their fried chicken is flavorful and well-seasoned, and the gravy is savory and just makes it feel like comfort food. You really can't miss out on their fried chicken. I know what you're thinking, fried chicken first thing in the morning? Trust me though, it's DELISH and you won't regret it! If you're really hungry, I suggest the "Chicken Fried Platter" ($13). It's very similar to the Benedict, but it comes with an extra side. We tried the hashbrowns and they were yum. Crispy surface and soft on the inside. Just the way I like 'em!

After about 15 minutes, I walked to the waitress station and politely asked for a menu; the response was an eye roll with menus "shoved" at me in an aggravated manner. Regardless, I thanked her. Soon, the same young waitresscame over and took our drink orders (waters) nicely, but then she left the back room where we were seated and did not return! Whaa? I never saw her again, so we have it another 15 min and gave up. We looked for our angry waitress as we walked through to leave hoping she, or anyone, might notice we were leaving, but nothing. The restaurant was crowded and diners seemed happy enough so perhaps we simply got the wrong person in the wrong moments. However, since I'm from out-of-state, this is the impression I will forever have of La Pines Cafe.
