Great food and a friendly service and feels like a home as everyone knows each other or they are very friendly,

The WORST SERVICE EVER! Waitress never came to check on us, not even once. Food was not very inviting, no presentation whatsoever. I SHOULD CALL THE FOOD INSPECTOR TO HAVE THEM CHECK OUT. PLACE WAS EXTREMELY FILTHY! Food and drinks s spell on the floor, tables full of dirty dishes, nothing was wiped down... just totally disgusting And they were just rude, specially the woman at the register. The only Recommendation I have is: TO NEVER GO TO EAT THERE!!!! read more

So I've lived here in the Kiln for about 5 years. Never ate here. Recently started working next door. Anyways... first 3-4 days of work I went in occasionally for a drink/food etc... My fiancé did as well. Every time either of us went there we were met with glares, rude remarks and sub-par customer service. For example, one day he came by to buy me breakfast and bring it over to me... He asked a question, was met with a dry and crass remark. He said " I'm sorry I've never been here before." And the response he was given was "clearly..." Well to top it off I asked about a job, or hours they may have available due to needing work currently. Bills are over whelming and I'm usually open to most opportunities to make some extra money to support my family. First, I asked. I did ask about a job. For days no one called, and wasn't really any direct answer. Next, I received a call from the owner at night stating I could come in, make 8/hr and try it out and see what I thought... I'm assuming someone quit and they were in a bind. I did agree and said, " yeah I could come in and see what I think...thanks!" Next morning, for several reasons, I did not go. -pay -mom sick -others telling me I don't want to work for them. Anyways, because of this I didn't go in. I tried to call the owner to give him a heads up, due to money issues my phone was off. I had to hustle up some money and pay my phone card. Anyways fast forward to 2/3pm... I was met with 3 girls giggling, degrading and talking shit about the shop I was in. Glares, ignoring me when I asked if I could help them... and just all around rude and bitter comments. Ok, no big deal. Next some bigger woman, with a nasty attitude to match her appearance... walked in behind them to loud cap me about not showing for the shift, how I left them in a bind, and to ensure the guy I currently work for heard, was loud about the whole scenario telling me how horrible I was. And just all are round rude, petty, and distasteful. Ok again, I apologized tried to explain myself and offer some sense of remorse for my action and not justify my actions but ensure she knew I understand that they were left in a bind which was NOT my intentions... She didn't care. She was crappy. Rude. And just all around just as unpleasant as the food she serves. Well... that is not where is stopped with the immaturity and unprofessional actions. Next the OWNER walked in behind her to show me his phone. To let me... and my current boss know... that I didn't try to call and again loudly state I had tried to work for them, messed up their day and how awful I was... Ok... I didn't want to get into it about my finances, my phone being off about how I did try to reach out, my apologies... etc etc.. Again not rude, I said I'm sorry. I hope they know that and he made a crass comment, side eyed me and just said it's fine have a great day. This is the MOST unprofessional, petty, rude, immature, and arrogant and pathetic people I have ever met as a whole. And I thought just the food was bad..... Oh to add, I cleaned their windows 2 days prior to be "nice" due to the owner mentioning none of his employees had yet to do it. There was 9 of us and most enjoyed their breakfast selections. I had the ham and cheese omelette, with toast and hash browns. The omelette was barely warm but tasty, hash browns were hot but both left a greasy after taste in my mouth. The wife had the croissant egg and bacon sandwich. The croissant was a little dark and the bacon was very salty but it to left a greasy taste in her mouth. Others had the grits and shrimp, country fried steak as well as breakfast sandwiches. T was our waitress and she did a fantastic job making sure our drinks were continually filled (they also had another young lady checking on our refills too. The restaurant was your typical diner with lots of tables and chairs. Their dispensers holding the salt, pepper and other items is disgusting they were either dirty or rusted and need a severe cleaning or replaced. They also have a problem with their ac dripping onto the floor, which could lead to a potential slip and fall I pointed out one of the areas in question to give them a chance to take steps to prevent any issues. read more

My personal favorite on the entire MS coast. This place is a gem. Love the fried fish and jambalaya. The food is some of the best you'll find on the coast. Portions are huge. Menu items are well priced. The hole in the wall dive vibe really works. Please don't change a thing. The staff is always very friendly and they get the food out fairly quick, even when they're busy. You know you're in a place with a connection to Louisiana if they change That to Dat or add Eaux to anything. Dat Kitchen is a casual restaurant in Waveland that would be perfectly at home in South LA. I have been here a few times and it's a solid pick for a casual lunch or dinner. Each time I have visited I have ordered a shrimp po-boy. Theirs is the overstuffed smaller shrimp variety. If you're from LA you will appreciate this and know what I am talking about. The bread seemed correct and the shrimp were plentiful. A bit of Tabasco (OK a lot) and some ketchup and this is a winning sandwich. Order at the table but pay the register. read more

I was over in Bay St Louis and the always trustworthy John LH suggested this spot for a quick dinner before I headed back home. Even though it was a Saturday evening, it wasn't too crowded, maybe it's more of a lunch spot? But sat ourselves and perused the menu. I tried the crab crawfish bisque which had good flavor but was so thick that it was almost a solid. Then I had shrimp alfredo which was good and such a huge portion that I ate it for two more meals once I was home. Service was diner style and fine. I finally figured out that you pay at the counter when you're ready to leave. I guess everyone just knows. I feel like the restaurant is in an old stripmall store since it's pretty big and open with a good parking lot out front. read more

We haven't been here since our visit last year and, thank goodness, nothing has changed. The food here is terrific! I've had numerous items but my favorite is the shrimp po'boy. Loads of fresh, very lightly breaded fried shrimp, that slightly crunchy but pillowy inside bread, fully dressed. The shrimp & fried fish platters are also very, very good as is the roast beef po'boy. This is basically good southern food w/a gulf twist at a very reasonable price. Very good service ( table service @evening, counter service@lunch. The servers & staff are all as nice as can be. Be forewarned: it doesn't look like much inside nor out; but the food is as good as it comes! read more

Counter service that plans for crowds during lunch. Great menu with traditional coastal dishes. I had the fish and shrimp combo plate with fries and slaw. Cajun seasoning in the slaw made it unique and so tasty. All other items were fried to perfection as God intended and great portions. No you can't eat like this everyday but I got my fix. We have stopped here a couple of times before for breakfast and lunch. It has a local vib and usually busy but prompt service from or sing at counter. Wait staff is friendly but this trip were lacking. We had one of the roast beef open face sandwich with mash potatoes and corn and side of cornbread. Unfortunately the whole dish was 90% cold with 10% being barely warm. We were in a hurry so ate it but so disappointed with how the food quality went down so much from our previous visits. This local darling is a wet fart. The first thing you need to know is that they close when they want to. It's not cute, it's frustrating. I tried 4 times to catch them open (I get off work at 5pm) and I tried a fifth time - success - I was turned away and told they're not serving food. I said why are there people eating? Then the wife wanted brunch here one day so we show up and finally got served but we were not impressed. The food was crap. The service was tepid. Worst restaurant I've been to in Waveland. There are so many better places in Waveland/BSL. Hush puppies - 1.5 stars (bland and burnt) Cajun Katrina - 1.5 stars (while the catfish was fine, the sauce wasn't Cajun, it was more like cheesy Ragu ) Boudin balls - 3.0 - not bad, but not great, and burnt as well Overall it's silly we even went here after trying so many times to find them operational. First- timer. Had no idea how large the portions were. I had shrimp po-boy which was divine with a gazillion shrimp on the plate and hubby had fried fish with fries which was a large portion and very tasty. If we are ever in the area again we will return for second helping ! Definitely recommend. read more

Wow, Awesome, just OFF THE HOOK!!! Fresh seafood, great service, real tea!!! They do everything here from scratch, stuffed mushrooms for appetizers are out of this world, had to get slices of French bread to finish off the cream sauce mmmmmm good! Had the grilled shrimp salad; had enough shrimp on that thing to choke 3 redfish if they were still swimming! My wife had the Gumbo and potato salad is was perfect! Food was pretty good overall. I enjoyed the gumbo and the fried shrimp was ok. My wife said the club sandwich was good but the fries were sub par. They were crinkle cut and seemed baked( I prefer fried). I want to cut them a little slack because they had a help wanted sign up but service was not good. read more

Food was so good! My partners crab cakes were the best I've ever had and the pasta was so good with shrimp in it as well. Be aware this was a on the board special and we went on a Monday! My country fried steak was nice and crispy with flavorful gravy and good taters. The corn was nice as well went good with the meal. We discovered this hidden gem while camping at Buccaneer State Park, and we are so glad we did!!! After living in Houma for 8 years, I can tell you with 100% accuracy that this place is the real deal!! The shrimp were so fresh; first time I've had shrimp this fresh since coming back to the 'Sip! If you were looking for a "neighborhood joint", Dat Kitchen Too is the place to-go. Almost all the entrées are under $10 and the food is always consistent. I didn't eat it tonight, but if they ever have the special catfish Katrina (one of the best dishes in South Mississippi) order it. I'm very cautious of restaurants because of COVID-19, but Dat Kitchen Too has done a fantastic job spacing out the tables. Before COVID-19, I would only go to Dat Kitchen Too once in a blue moon, but since March I go at least once and month. This restaurant is the ultimate family spot. Something on the menu for everybody in the family, and the prices are more than fair. read more

There is a great selection of food, all cooked very well. Lots of comfort food, with a Mississippi Gulf Coast flavor. The service is always good from very nice ladies. They always take wonderful care of us! The painting goes around 3 walls & is beautiful. They have lines at lunch for order & pickup, and though there are lots of tables, at lunchtime they are often full. Good sized parking lot for plenty of cars. Waitress got order wrong, Dirty surrounding, Staff was rude , I was treating my husband for Father's Day he wanted to go here. It was crowded and it took an hour for them to get a steak and two eggs for him and two eggs and bacon for me . I watched three customers that came in after us get their orders and eat. I asked the waitress to check on our food and we got it within five minutes. We ate, and I paid for us and walking out one employee yelled, actually yelled and said sir you did not pay in front of all customers. They embarrassed him and I went to see what was going on. It was the waitress that messed up the bill no apology from these people very rude. We won't be back. One star is too much for this place. I did not intend to give them one star read more

Not impressed. The place was full of locals which is usually a good thing. Not so much in this case. I'm a fan of comfort food as much as anyone. If you want big plates full of unseasoned food this is the place for you. The mashed potatoes were instant and pretty bland. The meatloaf was average at best. Service was simple and to the point and good and I respect that, but a place like this should do better than Ryan's buffet type of seasoned food. For a Mom & Pop restaurant this one is the bomb! Gotta be good to draw me in two days in a row Catfish, oyster poboy, pork chops and service with a friendly "feel like your family" smile. My friend and I ordered the breaded pork chop meal to eat later since we were at a nearby beach bungalow. We ended up going out for toddies and forgot about the chops in the fridge. She just dropped our plate off and never came back . We had to get our on drink and silverware. To me it seems like the 60s when my ancestors had to eat in the alley back of the business. This food was so good I am actually planning to drive back there from out of state just to enjoy their lunch, I had the fried fish with jambalaya.....One word Awesome. Fish were fresh cooked (fried) with just the right amount of seasoning. They had a good crust but fish were still tender and flaky. Jambalaya was well seasoned (flavorful ...not just Spicy). Others had country fried steak (best she's had in years), fried shrimp which were solid and good and a hamburger. Everyone enjoyed the food so much we came back later for a take home order. For Take home we also picked up the liver and onions. Again, another home run. I have been wondering where all the real cooks have been going and I think I found out.
